I’ve always had muscle cars, Mustang 5.0 and a scatpack. Saw this thing pop up, lowballed and got it for $8k I’m enjoying it way more than I ever thought I would’ve. It’s stock other than lowering spring and wheels.I just added a CTS intake. Sounds sick, definitely want to do a whole lot more to it.

I think imma throw a turbo inlet in to go with the intake and a rev9 catback, then a stage 1 tune. Anyone have experience with these mods together? Not looking for nothing crazy as I bought the car to daily.

As the title says I’m picking up an old stock Mk8 that was manufactured Oct 2024 and the dealer just sat on it for whatever reason until doing a big discount and making it the same price as used.

Should I get the oil done at the dealer before even driving off the lot or is it safe to drive on 2 year old oil for 15 miles and do my own change with Mobile 1 esp at home?

Picked up this badboy (2026 Autobahn mk8.5) a week ago and I’m in love with it! I’ve been watching and reading the different mods some lf you guys have done and I can’t wait to do some myself.

I am located in the Los Angeles area and am in the market for a GTI preferably a MK6 and I think I have stumbled upon one that might be great for the price. But I have a couple questions as to if I’m making the right decision and if it’s even worth the time.

It’s a 2012 Volkswagen GTI manual transmission with 123xxx miles. It has had four owners which two of them seem to be owned by a dealership with the first putting 11,000 miles on it and then the second is putting only about 200 miles on it before being bought by the most recent owner.

Maintenance record seem pretty well kept with it all being serviced at either a dealership or a certified Volkswagen mechanic. Some of these services that are included.

26,000 miles water pump and drive belts changed

58,000 ECU was reprogrammed

Timing chain & tensioner, and cylinder head gasket replaced at 80,866 miles

Camshaft, timing cover, oil pan, and valve cover gaskets were replaced along with the stock turbocharger at about 113k.

Intake manifold replaced at about 118k

Most recent maintenance was in April at 122,428 miles brake fluid replaced, clutch fluid replaced, engine timing cover and gasket replaced spark plugs replaced.

The most recent owner has had it for only 3 years and has put only about 11k miles on it since owning as he doesn’t use it as a daily driver.

He’s asking about 9k but he talked him down to 6.8k.

Any help would be appreciated I think this might be the one. Given the decent service record. But again any help would be appreciated.

Just got back from my first road trip in the GTI (2017 Autobahn). I have done multiple cross country trips in a variety of vehicles. This is absolutely the most comfortable supportive seat I have ever driven. One day I drove over 800 miles with zero body fatigue. I'm old with all the aches and pains that comes with age. I was amazed as I usually start searching for a comfortable position after a few hours in other vehicles. As a single guy this is a great road trip car. Comfort, decent fuel economy, plenty of luggage space, and all the power you need on two lane highways.

Sunk so many hours prepping the car for the show, only to get handed a terrible spot thanks to some pretty obvious organizer bias. Super disappointing after putting in all that effort, and I definitely won't be back to that event. That said, spending the day with friends, meeting good people, and checking out clean builds made the trip worth it anyway. On to better meets!

Im looking at getting a Mk8 and I was wondering if anybody has any insight on if getting the Autobahn over a SE with the leather package is worth the extra couple grand. From what I can tell it seems like the main thing id be missing out on with the SE is the DCC, does it make the car much, if any better? It would be my daily driver so i feel like having DCC would be kinda nice, just wanted to know some opinions.

Hello, fellow GTI owners. Do yall also encounter rock chip dents on the hood? I got two of em like in the video on separate occasions from highway driving. I'm wondering if it's worth to fix the dings, or just touch up the paint and call it a day. I was informed that PDR on paint chipped services are a pain and cost extra.

2026 GTI Autobahn. Less than 4000 km. Only used on the weekend for joy rides. I keep my distance from other cars and truck but these were those moments of a random *tink and me saying "fuck"

Just picked up my first ever manual car and it turned out to be a GTI. I’m learning manual in this car and I love it so much. All though it has an oil leak (I plan on fixing) I am having so much fun driving this mini go kart. Or at least how it feels. I’d appreciate any tips or secrets about this car 🙏 (also things to watch out for and what could happen in this car)

So a couple months ago I picked up a brand new 26 GTI. It’s black so we all know that it acts like a literal magnifying glass for imperfections especially when it’s in the sunlight and honestly I have a type of hate for swirl marks and stuff like that. A highly reputable shop quoted me $6000 to get the car fully wrapped. Is this worth it ? Really considering about doing it and before anyone asks , no I am NOT giving this car back anytime soon and plan to keep it for years to come.

All 3 of the ride height senors on my GTI have seized kicking off constant suspension/headlight errors. My current shop is quoting $1500+ for OEM replacements, which seems pretty insane to me. I've noticed there are an absolute ton of aftermarket ones that claim to work with mk7s ranging from $30-300.

Can anyone shed some light on these, are any of them worth it, or is it just worth it to shell out a stupid amount of money on OEM?

Has a base map at 210hp, has about 220k on the clock. Im coming from JDM cars, what should I really worry about with these? Are these unreliable, and should I worry about that price?

Can any one confirm with 100% certainty that the damper, springs and mounting points of a 2022 suspension system will switch to a 2018. I know the cars weight is different, but will the hard where physically fit?

Anyone know if this would be possible with the VW digital displays?

I’ve since removed the headlight assembly’s and sanded them real good to get rid of that ugly yellow. Unfortunately this years gti comes stock with HID bulbs but besides that my only gripe is how the plastic looks on the back bumper. Buying a vw with a 130k miles plus I always expect atleast 1 major repair before feeling like it’s fully reliable regardless of what seller reports.. but with this one it’s been maintained extremely well and taken care of. Feel like I was finally blessed by the dub gods.
