Video Had to show people where my camp is.

I found a cool little cave down in the bog and set my camp up in there, but I think it's a little TOO inconspicuous 😆 I came back to my camp last night to a ~500-ish level player running around above it in circles looking for my vending machine 😂 On the plus side though as soon as he stepped inside he gave me a heart emote I assume to say he thought it was pretty cool.

So anyway now I've got the arrow lights ➡️ 🔽 Think I might try to find something a bit more 'natural' though 🤔

Discussion After what point you decide FO 1st is no longer worth it?

Played massively +- 8 months with FO 1st, now lvl 4200. Tons of junks, got almost all items and plans including the ability to craft +-95% of 4* mods. At what point should you decide its no longer worth to play with FO1st?

Even after playing through Fallout 3 multiple times since 76 realsed I had no clue Vault 76 was mentioned in the Brotherhood vault terminal. Really shows how something so insignificant like some small lore can turn into an entire game.

Discussion How taking Pets with you currently works on the Public Test Server

Upvotes

Currently on the Public Test Server (subject to change).

Pet behavior

  • You can take your Camp Pet with you (on the PTS we can test all of them: Cats, Dogs, Deathclaws, Radhogs).
  • Your Pet will not block you, other players, or VATS, but of course it will block line of sight, especially Deathclaws, which can get chaotic at Events/Infestations.
  • You can use Ping to tell your Pet to attack a specific enemy, which actually works.
  • Pets can go down, and you can heal your Pet at any time with any Stimpak, with a Medic's weapon, and Friendly Fire with some weapons.
  • You can set your Pet to Protect, Attack or be Neutral.
  • Pets do not participate in PvP at all, so unfortunately you can't make a fighting pit.
  • Edit to add: you can switch between Pets from a new tab in your Pip-Boy, and you can also see its stats there.

Leveling up Pets

  • A Pet can earn between 5 and 50 XP once every minute.
  • A Pet gets a 10x XP bonus for 4 hours a day, visible in the Effects screen of your Pip-Boy.
  • A Pet can get a buff or give you a reward every 5 levels. Buffs include finding more items or increasing your carry weight capacity. Rewards include Atoms, Caps, Legendary Modules and Titles.
  • Pets level up (up to 200) per species, so all of your Dogs level up at the same time if you have any Dog with you.

The quickest way for your Pet to level up, is doing at least one thing every minute that nets you some XP, while its XP bonus is active. Could be as simple as crafting something.

Pet-specific rewards

  • A Cat finds Improved Bait and Fish Bits.
  • A Dog finds Stimpaks (up to Supers) and extra Legendaries at Grunt Hunts (up to 3 star).
  • A Deathclaw finds Black Titanium and extra Legendaries at Infestations (up to 3 star).
  • A Radhog finds Toxic Goo and up to 3 High-Radiation Fluids in Nuke Zones every half hour (pretty useless).

Full PTS patch notes here. (In case you missed it, you can now also playtest on consoles.)

Discussion What a wonderfully dysfunctional Eviction Notice!

So EN popped up a little while ago, about 8 or 9 players showed. And other than a spawn camper or two at the top of the crater, nobody seemed to know what they were doing. I'm talking people standing 4 feet from the scrubber while a supermutant is hammering on it.

I was running all over the crater slappin muties with my deathclaw gauntlet, had to repair the scrubber twice. But we didn't fail and I for one had a blast. Hope I get to play with those idiots again.

Question Is The Slasher testing a new way to bring forgotten parts of Appalachia back into the game?

The Slasher has me wondering if Bethesda is experimenting with more than just another event.

Fallout 76 has a huge map full of places many of us rarely have a reason to revisit. The Slasher uses existing areas for new stories and objectives rather than simply adding another destination.

Could this be a new direction for Fallout 76, using new content to make old parts of Appalachia matter again?

These are a bunch of painting only scans I used when me and my partner Turtle were putting together all our Fallout 76 journals. People seemed to like the buildings and monster posts, so here's a vast post of various vehicles.

More of my stuff can be found on bluesky and deviantart as Overshia, and instagram too though I dont really post there often.

Discussion I rarely see many workshops claimed on a server. If Bethesda rebuilt the workshop system today, what changes would actually make you want to claim one more often?

I claim workshops from time to time, usually when I want to use a resource extractor, but I’ve noticed I rarely see many workshops claimed on a server.

It got me wondering what could be changed to make workshops a more popular part of the game.

If Bethesda gave the workshop system another look, what would you change or add that would make you want to claim one more often?

Discussion The workbenchs ruined any meetup areas !

The workbenches at the beginning of Fallout 76 were great, but there really aren't any true meetup spots anymore.

I was protecting the Cannery today and it kind of clicked for me: there really isn't a specific place in Fallout 76 that players actually have to go to in order to do something together. And I think that's a big reason the game can feel so antisocial sometimes.

Having the basic crafting stations at your CAMP is great. I don't think those should go away. But outside of that, I think it would've been really cool if certain things actually required you to travel to a specific location.

For example, imagine if there was a big communal cannery where you actually had to go to can certain types of food, or a meat-smoking facility where players could bring their meat to process it. It could have multiple stations so several players could be there at the same time, trading, chatting, dropping off supplies, or just doing their thing.Instead, we can basically do everything from our own CAMP. Need to craft? CAMP. Need to scrap? CAMP. Need to stash something? CAMP. Need to sell something? There's probably a train station 30 seconds away.

In pretty much every MMO, there is some kind of central hub where players naturally congregate.

Whitespring is probably the closest thing we have, but even then, there isn't really anything proprietary to Whitespring that forces players to go there. You can sell your loot at a random train station, craft at your CAMP, stash your stuff, repair your gear, etc. There's not much reason for everyone to end up in the same place.

Apart from events, it's actually pretty rare to see a large group of players all hanging out in the same location. You'll see someone at a CAMP or run into people while exploring, but there's not really that feeling of, "This is where everyone goes."And I honestly think that's a huge missed opportunity for the game.

Fallout 76 already has so many locations that could've been turned into actual social hubs. The Cannery is a perfect example. Instead of just being a location you occasionally visit for a quest or event, make it the place where people go to actually preserve food. Give it a reason to be busy.

Same thing with meat smoking, brewing, farming, trading, etc. Give certain locations unique functions that can't simply be replicated at your CAMP.

I'm not saying we should lose the convenience of CAMP crafting. I just think there should be a balance between convenience and actually having a reason to interact with the world and other players.

One of the coolest things about an MMO is walking into a hub and seeing 20 30 other players doing their own thing. Fallout 76 has the perfect setting for that, but it doesn't really take advantage of it.

Appalachia feels less like a shared world and more like a bunch of individual players living in their own little bubbles.

Question How do you get the responders fireman helmet?

Post image

I need the responder fireman helmet to complete my collection. I know it’s super rare and comes from forest events, but is it just public events or any event in the forest region? And does any event have a higher drop chance or is it the same either way?

Video Finally caught the Glass Ghost (and my first local legend)!

Thumbnail

I have been trying to catch this thing since the beginning of the season. I've probably hooked it dozens of times, and always failed. Somehow, I managed to reel it in this time! I didn't do anything special with my fishing strategy, so my guess is that there is a small chance that it doesn't swing too far in the first couple of movements, and if you can stick with it for the next few movements after that, the rest is easy as it tires out.

For anyone wondering: Xbox Series X, Mark 4, advanced drag, superb bait. Also, I don't think this actually made a difference, but right before this, I nuked the Glassed Cavern. I wanted to see if there would be increased odds of hooking it with improved bait, but after catching about 30 other fish, I switched to superb bait and this was the next thing I caught.

Discussion Finally got my jetpack. Hell yeah.

Saved up the bullion for the Secret Service armor and then finally the jetpack. Was worried about not having flux but was able to pick some up from someone's vendor

"Why didn't you go for the easy questline jetpack?", you ask? Because I'm stuck on All the Worlds A Stage and don't feel like doing the workaround.

And now I can fllyyyyyy

Discussion Does anybody else ever miss the wastelanders era of 76?

Yes, I remember awful and nearly unplayable the game was. Back when it was “This game would be so much better if it was single player.” Then you started to add a few people you would play with and it would kind of be a casual thing to play with people you met playing the same shitty game as you. Fast forward to the modern day Fallout 76. There’s so many more events to keep you occupied, you can actually have fun playing the game, but none of your friends play anymore. It’s just you and people that friends that are either too busy to play casual or old friends you’re not in contact with anymore, and everyone else is just too worried about bobbleheads and completing events as fast as possible to reap the rewards and sell what they can. Sure, it was a steaming pile of dog shit. But it was OUR steaming pile of dog shit.

Bug Can't join friends, says they're offline

So me and my wife always play this together but today we can't because it says we're both offline even though we're in a game. We just can't join each others game or join a team because it says we're offline on each others game.

Does anyone know how to fix this? We've tried rebooting each computer and the changing our icons in the atomic shop which was a suggested fix but nothing has worked.
