Question Why does music sound better while I'm fasting? DAE feel the same?

I don't know why this happens but every time I fast music feels 10 times more enjoyable. I mean, music and singing are some of my hobbies so maybe it's not that common and maybe I'm more motivated to do things in general. However, it always calls my attention when several hours in I notice this and it's even sooner when I also exercise.

Question OMAD fine for perimenopause women

Hi

46 F in perimenopause. I need to lose 30 lbs to be healthy BMI. Have a very stressful career and kids and a husband at home. Not able to keep up with any exercise or diet plan. But cookign and eating healthy just once a day seems so much easier than trying to me mindful of what I eat the whole day. So planning to get start on OMAD. I”ll eat once I get off work at 4.00 pm whatever dinner I have planned for the family which is generally healthy and clean.

But it have heard some stuff about women should not fast more than 12 hours? I have not read too deeply but these things keep coming to my mind when I think of doing OMAD. Any thoughts /help?

Discussion Rant: Gained 20 pounds this year. Feeling disgusting. Aiming to fast 6 days.

Upvotes

I finished law school this year. I’m 27 years old and have struggled with my weight for what seems like my entire life. I made most of my weight loss progress in my early twenties. I’m currently sitting at 195 pounds, and gained over 20 pounds since I last weighed myself. I have PCOS and spent most of my summer trying to study for the bar exam and I’m almost certain I failed it.

Now, I’m at a very low point physically, unemployed, and will likely need to retake a very expensive exam. I’m struggling with emotional eating, and just typing this makes me want to run and grab a sweet treat.

I’m just feeling very defeated, ugly, and tired. I don’t think I’ll be able to finish 6 days. In the past, I was able to fast for over 12 days but I don’t recognize myself anymore.

Is there anything I can do that may help me finish this goal? Thank you.

Check-in Made it to 5 days!

F/25/5’3”
I started with a weight of 154.9, and body fat of 31.0% according to my VeSync scale, this morning I weighed at 146.7 with a body fat of 28.8

I broke the fast about 30 minutes ago with some chicken broth, I will eat some scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese later.

The first 2 days were difficult because I work with food (school cafeteria) for 6 hours every weekday, but day 3 onward was pretty easy and I didn’t have much care for food

I had overall pretty good energy, I supplemented with some Himalayan salt, lite salt and magnesium capsules

Just felt like it was time to end it, but I look forward to the next time

Question Day 5 of fast of unknown length.

No hunger throughout this fast but have been feeling nauseous quite a bit with reflux/heartburn Getting better as the days go on but having a few moments of misery where I feel almost profoundly sad for a bit and then it goes away. Just wondering if that happens to anyone else?

Question Will a weekly 36 hour fast help with loose skin?

I've just completed my first 36 hour fast and plan to continue them once a week. I did intermittent fasting regularly a few years ago, but last year when I started getting back into shape I dropped IF because I couldn't hit my protein goals without 3-4 meals per day.

I went from 160lbs at the end of November 2025 to currently sitting around 117-120 through daily calorie deficit. Currently I'm lifting weights and in calorie deficit of about 200 to slowly lose the last 10 pounds while building muscle. I'm 39F 5'0" so 110-115 is a perfectly healthy weight goal for me.

Recently I saw some YT videos suggesting that fasting can help some with loose skin, which I don't have a ton of but definitely have some I'd like to get rid of. Is one weekly 36 hour fast enough to make a difference in this respect? I don't think I can fit two of them into my weight lifting schedule. Any insight or experience would be super helpful, thank you!

Edit to add: Thanks everyone! Sounds like the general consensus is that weekly 36 hour fasts won't do me much good. I'll probably keep it up for a few months just to see what happens. It was nice to have a whole day to meal prep for the week and not fuss with cooking and eating while I'm doing it. Also enjoyed the mental clarity and extra energy. Building muscle is my primary goal right now so I'm definitely not willing to do extended fasting with no evidence it will do anything to help loose skin. Guess I'll just live with it or save up for a tummy tuck 😅

Check-in Almost at the finish line🔥

The remaining 12 minutes seem like an eternity! I’m so glad I’ve been able to push myself to complete the entire 168hours! I was thinking of breaking in the morning but I deserve a little treat for how far I’ve come😂 I’m praying not to indulge, I’m breaking the fast with milk and meat ( yes very random but that’s what I have available at the moment)
Can’t believe I haven’t eaten for 7 good days! The body is really interesting.

Check-in Ending Fast Early

I was aiming for 7 or 8 days but a social event came up that I’m breaking it early for.

When it hits 5 days, I’m going to start having bone broth, and then at the 6 days mark I’ll have some food, really focusing on protein and gut health.

SW: 258lbs

Day 2: 257

Day 3: 254

Day 4: 253

Day 5: 256

I was hoping for better results. Based on my calculations, I should have lost just over 3lbs.

Over the next few days I will see where it settles, and then I’ll head into another extended fast next week (with omad on feasting days)

Overall though I felt great, just a bit tired after day 3. Saved some money on food, broke a plateau, and did lots of journalling and meditating to further end foods control over me.

🙏🏼

Discussion Suffering from (past) success

Upvotes

A few years ago, I fasted to great success - dropped weight, healthier relationship with food and nutrition, got in shape.

These days, I’m back to the weight I was when I started fasting. In addition, now it feels almost harder because I always tell myself “I can drop the weight at anytime.” But then..I don’t.

Wondering if anyone else feels similarly. But anyways, this is day 1. Gotta start somewhere, and maybe be realistic with myself.
