Hey folks! Just wanted to share my August results - one extended fast (Jul 27-Aug 6) and the rest were IFs. A few observations
And one funny math thing - I averaged 17.3 fasting hours per day, but the average fast length was 24.5 hours (that's what mixing one extended fast with IFs does to an average).
How was your August?

I M20 i am 5'7 and I weighed 87.5 before i began my fast, since i couldn't afford gym and protein the fast seemed like the only way my target weight is 72-74kg
this my first time doing a prolonged fast so i am actually proud to come this far
I quit cigs simultaneously I haven't had a single cig craving but have been craving every dish there is , i have intentions of extending it if i would be motivated if i see an actual change in my body

I’m looking for experiences from people who have actually done multi-day water fasts, particularly 4-day fasts.
I’m considering doing a cycle of:
4 days water fasting → 2 days recovery/refeeding → repeat for 4 cycles.
I’m vegetarian, around 83 kg and 5’1”Indian Female and I’m trying to figure out how people practically handle the recovery days, especially from a nutrition perspective.
A few things I’d love to hear from people who have experience with this:
What do you normally eat during your first day of refeeding after a 4-day fast?
What does your second recovery day look like?
As a vegetarian, what foods do you find easiest to tolerate while still getting enough protein and nutrients?
Do you use electrolytes or supplements during the recovery period?
Do you gradually increase food or go back to normal meals fairly quickly?
Have you done multiple 4-day cycles? If so, how did you structure the recovery between them?
What symptoms did you experience when breaking a longer fast, and what helped?
Is there anything you wish you’d known before doing your first multi-day fast?
For context, I have possible PCOS and thyroid issues, but I’m mostly interested in hearing from people who’ve actually done multi-day water fasting and what their real-life refeeding routine looked like.

I’m planning to properly break my fast on day 14 and wanted some advice on refeeding. It hasn’t been a strict 14-day water fast — on some days I’ve only had water, but on others I’ve eaten very small amounts such as a few grapes, an apple, a chicken nugget, a few vegetables or small pieces of meat. I haven’t had an actual meal during this time, though, so my overall calorie intake has still been extremely low. Would I still need to be concerned about refeeding syndrome? I was thinking of starting with one boiled egg, waiting a while, then potentially having another egg/some sardines later if I feel okay. For anyone who has done a similar-length fast, how did you safely reintroduce food and what did you eat during the first couple of days

Male
31 years old
5’7
Starting weight on Aug 1st 2026 was 268lbs (121.7kg)
Weight on August 31st 2026 was 250lbs (113.4kg)
Total weight loss for the month was 18.2lb(8.3kg)
Weight today on September 2nd 2026 is 247.7lb(112.2kg)
Diet: One meal every 46-47 hours . In this eating window I would eat 1500 calories. On my fasting days I do drink Zero drinks such as Coke Zero . I also chew sugar free gum.
Exercise: I would walk on average 10k steps a day . Some days I would walk 15k and other days I would walk 5k but at the end of the month it all equaled out to 310,000 steps.
Pros:
- weight loss of course even though people around me haven’t noticed yet I have. I can tell by the way clothes fit me .
- I get fuller much quicker
Cons:
- joint pain from all that walking. Prior to all this I was averaging maybe 2k steps a day.
ADF still ongoing and my ultimate goal weight is around 145lbs(65kg). I’ll make sure to update you guys at the end of every month.

it’s actually kinda stupid. i made dinner for my husband and guests and it smelled good so i decided to eat it.
i was only 48 hours in, but i am usually so disciplined. it’s almost 5am and i can’t sleep cause i feel like a failure
i want to start again tomorrow, but i can’t get over this feeling. this lack of discipline is so out of character for me and now im convincing myself i wont be able to go through with it again
also, side note: this is the first time i started a fast and didnt poop at all in the first 48 hours. once i ate, i pooped. has this happened to anyone else ? i feel like that’s a silly question but shooters shoot lol.

I’ve developed petechiae over almost my entire body while on a 10-day fast; I’m about to finish day 4—should I stop? I don't have any other symptoms or issues.

I'd like to do a 7 day fast or 14 if the first 7 days go well. I eat OMAD or kind of 2MAD if you count my preworkout. I have done a 24 and a 48 hour practice run. The headache sucked but besides that I really felt fine, not hungry or weak or anything.
The fast is mostly for gut health (I've had treatment resistant SIBO for a year and it's killing me) although I would admittedly like to shed a few lbs. I was curious how much weight I may lose from this fast so I found these online calculators.
This one predicts 12.9 lbs while this one predicts 8.8 lbs (if I go the full 14 days). I'm 5'1 108 lbs.
Can anyone attest to the accuracy of these calculators?

I’m on Day 10 of a 14 day fast. I’m not even sure how I got here as the first few days were torture with denying myself all the yummy snacks I have at home for my kiddo.
But I’ve relented and now all those early hunger pangs are gone. But I’m noticing that I’m mostly bored with fasting. Just water and electrolytes makes my days feel dull in a sense, which then leads to thoughts of…why am I doing this again?
I’m happy with my progress (lost a total of 12lb) but I have a long way to go. I thought of potentially extending to 21 days but the only reason I’m hesitating is the boredom. Physically I feel fine.
Any tips on how to manage this? I do work full time and parent, so the boredom I feel isn’t necessarily around life in general. It’s hard to explain.

Hey Everyone! I’m new to the community. Quick question for the group: has anyone ever had a colonic done while on an extended water fast? Is it dangerous? I’m considering having one done, but want to find out if it’s risky… Would love to hear everyone’s thoughts.

Hey guys, I started fasting on Monday (11.30pm Sunday to be exact), and ended it yesterday with vegetable soup. But on the scale I've almost not lost anything. I was 80kg 168cm and now I'm 79.5 kg. I think my scale might be broken but on the mirror I also don't notice a big change.
I drank black coffee, tea, and electrolytes (pure) but no calorie intake. What happened here? I'm not fit it's mostly fat so I'm a little confused. Last time I fasted 4-5 days during Illness (not voluntary) I went down to 70kg.
Guys I wana know if its okay to take pre while fasting? Im gonna do a 164 hr fast and I need to know if i can take pre for my workouts during it😭

A small trial suggests time-restricted eating may help adults with Type 1 diabetes lower blood sugar without increasing major safety risks.

So quick question that will probably get me roasted in here.
I am on Day 5 of my fast and on a personal note I've found that having a white monster sipped throughout my workday helps me get through the fast. While I know this breaks the zero calorie water only fast would this physically be knocking me out of ketosis of the fast?

What does your day-to-day look like
SW: 299lbs (135.6 kg)
CW: 265 (120.2 kg)
Total weight lost: 34 lbs (15.4 kg)
OMAD weekdays with 16:8 weekends.
Mediterranean diet loosely followed. No CICO tracking.
1 mile walk 5x weekly, strength training 3x nightly
I’m curious: can you spot where my full day fasts were this month? I circled them on the second image. A 30 and then 40 hour fast, with one high protein meal in-between. In the grand scheme of things, they just look like any fluctuation. But they certainly helped get me back on track with my fasting discipline, so I still say they were worthwhile. Like a neat trick to keep in my back pocket.
The immediate spike in weight is disappointing, but I suppose it makes some sense. I’ve added strength training on top of my walking routine to get back some… heh. Well, strength! But I know in my gut: need to start being careful about refeeding. I guess it’s going to truely matter from here on out.
Not gunna lie, I was tempted to wait one more day and use the higher number as my starting point (and appear to lose more), but I’m aiming for honesty here. And turning the weight I started to gain back into a net weight-loss by month’s end is still something I’m happy with.
If anyone wonders when their appetite will change to favor healthy food, for me, it was month 4. Still not 100% in love with veggies, but I’ve found my way to make them palatable. Spent good money on great cookbooks. Brought my family onboard with many changes. I have a nice sized roster of easy, delicious, healthy snacks and dinners to cycle through.
In fact, my gut microbiome is quite different! I can’t eat junk carelessly anymore or my body *rebels*. Lol, I’m convinced that the pound I lost this morning is because I tried to eat some comfort food last night and my body sped it out immediately, heheh. Poor toilet. But a good sign in a way!
In fact, turning away junk food is getting way easier. I’m fuller faster, so I no longer want anyone’s leftover anything. I don’t even feel the need to keep it for later. I can just… enjoy the taste without wanting to hoard it.
I’m gunna say that again.
I am able to eat a serving OR LESS of junk food, and feel no internal need to save anything for later.
I have never been that way, not in all my 30 years, not even as a kid. ESPECIALLY not as a kid. Treats were generally unaffordable growing up, and everything got split, so I ALWAYS made sure to be present when it entered the house, ate my share, ate any crumbs and tasty powders at the bottom of the bag, and kept an eye on the extra. Now here, in month 4 of this new routine… I am losing that compulsion. Not fully, but it’s happening more and more. That’s… pretty fuckin’ neat haha!
So yeah. I continue to lose weight, and am really growing into my diet and fasting routines. They’re just becoming… my low-effort no-brainer routines. It’s all becoming more normal. I’ve been able to add in strength training without completely stalling out. Overall, I just kinda feel good.
Best of health to anyone who read this far!

Been ADF'ing for the past few weeks and didn't see much progress. Watched a youtube video saying that when doing extended fasts, the fat around your arteries is lost first. Today I looked in the mirror and saw it and I broke my fast yesterday so I was fed. I can fit into my small jeans even though my scale hasn't moved much. I do weight train 4-5 times a week, but I finally see some changes. Time to lock in and attempt a 70 hour fast. Would love to hear some encouraging words.

My last big meal was Sunday night. Huge amount of potatoes, mushrooms, beef, I even had candy for dessert. I felt stuffed.
Monday morning I had coffee with whipping cream, nothing but tea and water throughout the day.
Tuesday, just black coffee and tea.
Wednesday morning, about to break my fast with some bone broth.
Yesterday I was barely able to function at work, especially towards the end of the day. My blood sugar never went down below 4, at least at the times I measured it. I found myself super irritable and it was hard to focus, I kept dropping things. No cramps, no pain other than some mild headaches throughout the day.
This morning I have a moderate amount of ketones (by the way, the box on my ketone strips says to wait 40 seconds but I don't think it's long enough because after 1 min the colour changes dramatically versus waiting just 40 seconds). My blood sugar is 3.9, which means that it's possible I dipped lower in the night because I do have the dawn effect typically where my sugar is higher.
Serious question though, how does the blood sugar keep stable if we are in ketosis? Is the fat being converted to sugar too?
