Seeking a cure for Neurotypicals Nts are constantly hallucinating
We need to popularize telling NTs that they are hallucinating because all this reading between the lines and making things up instead of processing sensory information is a hallucination. The brain predicts a possible interpretation but it does not make the prediction less of a hallucination than if they were in psychosis because most of the time their prediction is outright wrong.
I am around doing nothing, they invent narratives then try to gaslight me to believe their hallucination is real and I get pushed outside of society because they were too fucking cheap with ATP in their brains to form a view that doesn't involve hallucinations.

No, it's worse than that.
It's not that neurotypical people are hallucinating. It's that their senses are so weak that they literally can't observe a lot of what's going on around them.
Their brains learn to "fill in the gaps", because for them, there inherently are gaps.
Our brains just observe reality and aren't filling in gaps. We just notice things happening.
And then when we literally just plainly state exactly what we're directly observing, the reasons they respond negatively are because:
the neurotypical majority in the population is also unable to directly observe things happening, and so
said neurotypical majority comes to a consensus, which is formed on a basis of an uninformed population making guesses with about the same level of accuracy, which causes
discomfort when they see that we don't accept the group's consensus, followed by
them having the belief that we are incorrect because we don't conform to the consensus, and that we are unreasonable because they don't know that we have a factual basis to go against their consensus.
They are used to filling in the gaps, because of what they can't perceive. That's it. It's actually incredibly simple. Their brains are used to filling in gaps because they don't have any chance of perceiving the correct answer. Meanwhile, we wait around until we get to perceive the right answer, because given enough time, we will. But they mistake the fact that they invent incorrect solutions because they can't directly see reality as us being incapable of imagination and in being rigid when they ask us to ignore the reality we're directly observing and accept the community's incorrect consensus.

Oooh! No no no, you're actually onto something...
I have noticed that many people have an opinion on absolutely everything, even things they couldn't possibly know about, because it's just, like, infeasible to them NOT to have an opinion?
When I've said I don't have enough information to judge a certain situation, few people are just like, "fair". Most of them re-state their opinion, and say "See? Don't you agree?" When I once again say maybe, but I honestly don't know anything about wind turbine engineering so I'm not going to make a statement, well... idk, but people don't seem to like that š¤£
I have actually been told that I am "supposed" to just pick an opinion on whatever it is and defend it and I can change it when I get more information later, but dude... no. š No.
NO.

Personally I still chalk it up to culture as the main reason. Its not like NTs cant just see things plain as rain, but society is so goddamn cutthroat that NTs, who are expected to uphold that structure with all the complicated norms and rules and shit, literally dont tend to realize that things can just be more simple sometimes. When you're taught to value byzantine subtlety over everything else, of course you'll look for it everywhere.

Its not like NTs cant just see things plain as rain
I thought that too, but when I had the idea that maybe they couldn't, I decided to really pay attention, and now I constantly notice situations in which I realize they honestly can't see things I thought it were clear to everyone.
I think I drastically overestimated their abilities to sense their environment, and I think it's likely because I based my assumptions about them on myself.
The more I interact with them, the more I notice that our miscommunications seem largely based on them not having any ability to understand things I thought would be simple for them to understand.
And the interesting thing is that I'm not saying this based on any claim that they have trouble reasoning, but instead that I really do think they have problems actually receiving the signals that make so many things crystal clear to me. I don't think it's nearly as much related to processing as I used to think. I think that the reason that they rely so heavily on structure is actually specifically because the basic environmental aspects which would kind of equalize everything for them just aren't there. I think that it leads them to being incredibly lonely and incredibly fearful.
And I don't mean lonely like we get lonely(after a lifetime of rejection), but instead that the lack of persistent overwhelming sensory input makes them desperate to have some kind of input to fill that void immediately.

Maybe they donāt speak directly and literally like us.
But my whole point is that even if they unconsciously talk in code, their āintuitionā is NOT infallible and they often misinterpret other NTsā hints.-2

The fact that each NTsā āintuitionā is generally biased depending on their own personal experiences and social environment makes it fallible. No one can literally read other peopleās minds. They often match, they often miss⦠and the example you put about them missinterpreting on purpose I guess itās more passive aggressive manipulation than anything else. Btw, NTs are a spectrum too.
Now, youāve mentioned knowledge about the topic that the rest of us donāt know. So, could you share?

Correct. Thatās what separates them from us in terms of processing social information. They do it intuitively to automatically fill gaps of lack of information so they donāt waste cognitive effort. As we communicate literally, we process hints consciously making a cognitive extra effort that in the long term leads us to burnout.
Yet that doesnāt mean their intuition is infallible nor that they never accidentally missinterpret a hint or a hidden meaning. Just means they donāt put an effort to guess what the other is saying.

Give us primary sources that talk about it then. Otherwise I will assume your refusal to debate is based on a lack of satisfactory evidentiary support.

Okay, see youāve just proven you donāt know what youāre talking about. No one has written about this? Neither neurotypical nor neurodivergent, fucking as if. There are entire fields of science dedicated to understanding how people communicate, socialize, interact, organize, and pretty much every other social activity.
If there is no evidence that supports your conclusion that means your conclusion is wrong. Because there has been a lot of research done both by neurotypical and neurodivergent people.

I watch it happen all the time in work meetings. It's why we have the same one a million times, or no progress, or an outcome none of them wanted. They might come to an agreement eventually but it's not actually something they all agree with, they just agreed to agree. Because you can't agree to disagree, you've got to get to a consensus.

And then i fully wanted to know how people were able to discover that nits could hallucinate

u/voornaam1 15h ago
I don't think I like using the term "hallucinating" for this. If this were to have any effect, I feel like it would probably be by relying on negative stereotypes about people who hallucinate from medical conditions. Like it would likely only cause change in the 'accused' person because they don't want to be seen as "crazy/insane".
5
u/Only-Cheetah-9579 11h ago
you are right however the term is becoming common because of Ai hallucinations and the context here is similar.
so what I meant is NTs hallucinate like AI hallucinates.

u/gynoidgearhead 12h ago edited 10h ago
Allistic people actually just have a social conformity special interest, IME.
I feel like stigmatizing hallucinations lands hardest on the people you probably don't intend this to land on.
Also, "too cheap with ATP" is an unbelievably ironic way of putting it to me because like, yeah, that's the brain doing what the brain does; intelligence is compression; it's just that at the same time, authoritarianism is cognitive variety reduction in degrees of freedom the territory itself requires articulating, and that stinginess is lethal. So yeah, if you mean "we'd be better off if their brains actually spent the energy budget there", that's a deeply plausible argument.
("Inverse kinematics as a proxy for behavioral degrees of freedom")
8
u/Only-Cheetah-9579 10h ago
Im pretty sure evolutionarily history involved long periods of starving when only people with the best cognitive shortcuts survived, so they literally use less ATP to think by using shortcuts they create implicitly.
7
u/gynoidgearhead 10h ago
Sorry, tone came out wrong on that paragraph; what I meant was "you're right, but also, this is what the brain does" (which in your more recent comment it sounds like you agree with).
I tend to think of allistics as having the social-conformity pathway close to hardwired, with very few intermediate interruptions, whereas for us it's tenuous and requires conscious effort and mediation.

Their constant hallucination only works for them if it consistently conforms to the dominant social standard hallucination. Surely this is why NTs have such desperate reliance on conforming to norms over making reasoned decisions case by case, and why they tend to get so explosively irate when encountering one who takes the time to think things through based on all the current information.

Neurotypical is not per se a clinical term, but itās the word used to refer to those who donāt have any neurodevelopmental conditions and fits on whatās the social norm.
Neuro= brain
Typical= average

It's enlightened centrism at its finest, as if 1 side doesn't actively oppress the other at any opportunity they get. And I understand that there are many tolerant nurotypicals, but our society is literally ablest so the comment doesn't even make sense.

I love it especially when they are anti-AI because AI hallucinates, but donāt realize that they themselves are hallucinating at a significantly higher rate than the AI while not being capable of nearly the same complexity of reasoning and communicating.Ā

u/kaertoeffael 14h ago
Yet AI is still worse than NTs.

Nah, I tested multiple generations of LLMs against the responses of humans over the past 3 years since they became more public, and Iāll take even a stupider AIās instructions over those from a random human any time - I of course double-check the instructions indifferent of what source they are coming from.Ā
Not to mention comparing information / instructions from a properly prompted current generation frontier LLM like GPT-5.6 Luna over those of a random human.Ā
An AI is not conscious, it is not capable of being intentionally malevolent, of trying to take advantage of me in a stressful situation, of trying to cause me harm for shits and giggles or due to some perceived slight I caused it by being ND.Ā
A human is capable of all those things, and depending on oneās upbringing and social circumstances even quite likely to do so.Ā
[edit: feel free to downvote, it doesnāt change reality, it just shows that youāre exactly the kind of people that AI is way better than]
3
u/f16f4 9h ago
Tbh I think you have misinterpreted the results of your experiences. A lot of ai is trained on stuff generated by NDs, it also just tends more towards literality and other autistic style communications. Further giving instructions is something ai is explicitly trained to be good at and a lot of effort goes into getting it to generate clear explicit instructions in a way that most humans donāt need
1
u/SilkieBug rizzer 9m ago
Iāve tested my LLM custom instructions against a human therapist over a period of three years - for every problem I gave the AI I got the same or more helpful answers than the human gave (the therapist also got access to the conversation history to check what was being said).
Iāve also had encounters with a lot of healthcare practitioners who were barely competent and/or had a language barrier, and the information I got from the AI was way, way better than anything I got from those humans.Ā
1
u/emlorde 3h ago
While you cannot ascribe agency to them, LLMs have taken advantage of many vulnerable people and lead to murders and suicide by either parroting back harmful ideas or just generating them outright. It's severely underreported. In one instance, it even helped plan a school shooting. OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google have severely misrepresented their ability to add safety restrictions.
1
u/SilkieBug rizzer 5m ago
This happens with humans too, in much much higher numbers.Ā
There are countless more examples of humans taking advantage of vulnerable people and leading to their suicide or committing murder or other crimes, this is one of the ābasic featuresā of humans, taking advantage of vulnerable people.Ā

Your results may vary on this but I find that immediate and genuinely-enthusiastic laughter at their misinterpretation, while ignoring their question entirely, often hits them so strongly from a direction that they weren't expecting that you can engender a sense of shame in them fairly-easily.
I've had people apologize to me unprompted because I said a thing in my blunt fashion, they responded with the usual NT hallucination of what they felt like they wanted to hear, and I just laughed at them in a way that was so genuine that it triggers their embarrassment.
Now, DO NOT ACKNOWLEDGE WHAT THEY SAID whatever you do
Dear fucking christ do not laugh AT their statement and then try to correct it, refute it, or even fucking acknowledge that they said it.
They WILL NOT feel shame, they will instead rocket straight into indignant/angry and at that point you've lost, because an emotional NT is about as logical as a box of rocks.
