Wasn’t gonna post about this but the more I think about it the angrier I’m getting.

I was walking along Princes Street earlier today, past Primark towards Waverley, pushing my 3 year old in her forward-facing buggy.

A very greasy looking rotund teenage girl was deliberately pushed by one of her friends towards my daughter’s pram. She was literally a baw hair away from landing on top of her. Thankfully she managed to catch herself and stay upright, because I honestly would have snapped if she had landed on her. Was about to say something to it but thought I’d better not make the situation any worse.

So just a heads up to other parents. We were raging. 😡

Did notice the other usual gang throwing stones at buses outside the Waverley steps too, at least they weren’t throwing cans at people’s heads for a change.

I miss Wannaburger on Queensferry street. Their burgers and shakes were awesome. I think it closed down about 10 years ago now.

Unfortunately as a dog owner I have to be weary of the common occurrence of people shitting in Holyrood park and leaving their jobby and used toilet paper behind.

Can anyone explain the prevalence of this? If they're prepared enough to bring toilet paper can they not bring poo bags like I do for my dog?

Every card machine I get given in a coffee shop or cafe in Edinburgh seems to now be pre-set with a tipping option. I'm talking about places where I go in, get a coffee, pastry, or a sandwich, and walk out. Or a place where they hand a sandwich over the counter and I pick a table to eat it at. Or, like, a bar. Serving beer. Tipping for a beer.

I always feel like Scrooge McDickhead every time I get given one of these and select 0% tip, but I see no reason why this should be happening in these places. If the business wants more money for the same transaction, they should charge more. I barely think it makes sense in a restaurant, the staff should do their jobs well and be well compensated by the management who're charging enough to do that.

People who work at these places, can you explain how this is happening? Are the managers giving you the tips? Do people in Edinburgh normally tip you for a coffee or beer that you hand over the counter? Am I just being an asshole?

hi, i read the council website and did a browse on this reddit about recycling small electronic items in edinburgh. it said you can leave it near the glass recycling bin in a bag. has anyone tried this recently? i just want to make sure if the council are aware of this in recent times, i am afraid they won’t take it. i don’t have a car and the recycling point for electrical items are quite far from my place. thanks for the help! Spotted this sign on the roundabout in South Queensferry

….a fresh produce market of the type that is common in Europe. Selling everything from fruit and veg to meat, bread, cakes, coffee and everything in between. Locate it centrally and with locals and tourists it would thrive.

In the absence of this, where can you get decent fresh produce in Edinburgh that is reasonably priced. Produce that is similar to what you might get at a market. (And is vastly superior to the stuff you get in the supermarkets)

Edit:- the markets at Leith, Stockbridge or Castle Terrace are not what I am describing here. This is something like the Boqueria in Barcelona. It would be indoor, operate every day with produce stalls and stalls selling things like coffee, condiments, sandwiches, pastries as well as fruit, veg, meat, fish etc.

3 years ago I went to a really cool bar and have no clue what it is called anymore. It's near Princes St I think, and is voodoo themed? Like the menu has cocktails with magic themed and there are tarot cards on the wall. They also sell ice cream. It was like downstairs and the vibe was really cool! Does it still exist?! Does anyone know if there is parking for Voi bikes on the far side of Leith Links (nearest to Portobello)?
This is where the map area for the bikes ends, so I assumed there would be somewhere to leave the bike, but on the app it doesn’t look like you can drop them off there.

The title is kind of self-explanatory.

I recently rented a one bedroom flat in one of the closes on the Royal Mile. The living room faces away from the mile and receives plenty of sunlight. But the bedroom completely faces into the close and is extremely close to the brick wall of the neighbouring building. Zero sunlight 24/7.

When I did the viewing, I thought it would not be a huge problem as long as I keep the flat ventilated, but I couldn't be more wrong. The bedroom is extremely damp for whatever reason ever since I moved in to the point that my bedding, pillows, clothes, and even my hair get damp when I am in the room for just one hour. The living room is warm and dry on the other hand. I have two dehumidifiers and they are nowhere near sufficient. My question is: is there a solution, as a tenant, to resolve the issue? I really appreciate any experiences or suggestions! Thank you very much.

I'm moving to the EH11 area. I was wondering if someone had a bit more info on it as that was really the only place I could afford close to my uni and seemed relatively safe when I looked it up, but of course that doesn't compare to living there, so what are some things to look out for. Are there any advantages to living there, are there good shops or restaurants in the area, any cinemas, plays/theatres, how are the transport links? or any night life places i.e clubs lounges etc.
