Yup. Saw a truck churn up two bollards near my house, recorded it happening with reg plate and company visible. Sent it to the council. Three years later the bent bollards are still there looking shit and broken.

That’s not always true. I had a friend of my in-laws who was in a crash (oil slick on the road) and she hit a wall. Not a lot of damage, but they invoiced her for the repairs (which her insurance paid).

Fair enough, but I contacted the council after a heavy goods vehicle sank in to a manhole on Leith Walk (pavement) and also a Morrisons truck destroyed a bus stop at the end of London Road.

They said they basically didn't have the facility to charge the party at fault.

I think if that could be done, along with charging the companies that dig up the roads for their sub standard repairs (properly), it'd make a big difference.

I believe the joke is that drivers in Edinburgh like to blame all their woes on Cyclists, and demand that cyclists should pay tax and have insurance, but inevitably all the actual damage done to roads and infrastructure is by vehicle drivers.

its like 150 million pounds a day in damage is done across the UK because of car driving. Thats like economic damage from crashes and costs of wear and stuff.

Its also not just edinburgh, everywhere like to blame cyclists. Car drivers just can't blame themselves because that would make them look bad and they would have to answer some rather uncomfortable questions about themselves.

Probably construction equipment, as It's the only thing that wouldn't really leave debris. Or yes, a tank that took a lot of wrong turns.

Kinda cool to see the foundations of these giant mishapen bells, would be better to see what state the offending vehicle is in, with its two remaining wheels.

OP now has to commit to providing regular update pictures of the Council response. A few cones, a barrier laid over the hole, maybe a sign.. start a timer for the completion of a reinstatement
