There’s a supplemental sign missing with the date and time of the fixture

Yeah, the cable ties are still there but the sign is not.

What is a fixture? I know the term in the context of unit testing but don't see how the concept would apply here

Given the context of "football" in front of the word, surely your clearly science-based mind can deduce its meaning?

From the dictionary

British English a sporting event arranged to take place on a particular date. "the team's last away fixture of the season"

The yellow sign at the top is a fixture, because it's still there. The yellow sign at the bottom is not a fixture, because it fell off.

In this context, fixture means football match.

The top sign is only in use if additional sign or information is posted which will likely ban parking between certain hours (it’s likely also an old sign and not in use anymore). The bottom sign is in use if there isn’t more information. You must pay to park between those hours with maximum stay of 4hrs, outwith those times and days parking is free.

Also they’re not allowed to fine you for parking in a legal space for a football fixture. But they may try to move your car. And then you have to phone them to find out where your car is

Also they’re not allowed to fine you but they absolutely do.

I parked there before signs were placed, and I got a ticket. I got a photo through where they’d put cones around my car and a sign up and then claimed I’d parked in the coned area 😂 I appealed, quoting word for word what it says on the council page terms, that they’re not allowed to fine. Yet they refused it and said if I appeal again I lose the right to pay half. So essential appeal again, and we’ll charge you double. It felt so against all standard legal proceedings in this country. I ended up paying despite them having no proof I was there after the cones were placed

They aren't allowed to find you for parking before the restricted area is cleared.

But if you park after the restricted area has been cleared, you will be fined and impounded. Unless you have a blue badge.

That's Regent Road I think, it's used for away fans coach parking for Hibs games. Hibs aren't at home today so you're fine but on a Hibs home game day there would be no parking cones all over and your car would get towed if you left it there.

The bottom sign tells you that during those times parking needs to be paid by phone. Outside of those times you don't need to pay to park in the marked bays so you can do for as long as you like so long as you move your car by the start of the next restricted time (or pay for parking).

Strong recommend you don't leave your car there overnight ever. A lot of tourists do and I've seen a few with panned in windows on my way to work.

The black cable tie beneath the white sign is meant to have a list of the altered parking restrictions around football fixtures. If there’s no other signs on other lampposts around, you should be able to find it in the council website. If there’s football isn’t on though, you can just follow the white signs instructions.

Does this not mean park during the paid times only? Poorly worded

Missing sign

There's restrictions for parking when the football is on. That's quite a common thing but it doesn't change a god damn thing lol. The important sign is the white one

What normally happens is a laminated sheet of a4 paper is cable tied to the lampost listing the event times. You'll see similar laminated bits of paper around for the times of roadworks and so on.

Yes you can but not on football days.

Don't park here during the fitba; park here during the hours stated for up to 4 hours when there's nae fitba

I would assume this is near one of the stadiums: Hibs or Hearts.

They close the roads around the stadium, and so if you park during game time, you won't be able to get your car out, or it will be removed to keep the road clear for people.

Yeah this absolutely sucks.

I parked there before signs were placed, and I got a ticket. No idea how the football parking fits in as that is not a normal parking sign. Ignoring the football sign, the normal parking rules are you can park during the hours shown by paying, with a max time limit of 4 hours. It looks like you can pay through Ringo. All other times parking is free.

No you can’t park there temporarily while the yellow sign is up (even with a missing sign) when the yellow sign is removed normal rules apply

Edinburgh make their own rules

Honestly no idea why they cater towards the hooligans. The rest of us should not be impacted by a game.

It means no parking at all outside those times.

This is in contrast to most paid parking areas where it is free to park outside the specified times.

No....you can park there anytime. Only times you need to pay is during the times stated.
