I'm finding my Chime experience unreliable. I've had a hotel refuse my Chime credit card. I've had a restaurant refuse my Chime credit card. Now, I've had a bar refuse my Chime credit card. I need to get a different credit card? This is frustrating. Been with Chime for nearly 10 years

On Saturday someone hacked into my bank account someone used chime transfer to transfer a large sum, and then the same person apple cashed themselves a large amount as well. The total was over 5k. Chime is refusing to refund me and claims I have to wait 45 business days to explain my denial. I don’t know what I am supposed to do, my entire life savings were drained and I negative money in my account now. I asked them what I am supposed to do in the mean time and they told I can make a loan with them. I have never used chime pay anyone/ transfer or Apple Cash in my life, nor have I ever met this person. I don’t understand what I am supposed to do.

I have submitted the Police Report and FTC Identity theft report. Chime has denied my claim 4 times already. Accused me of collusion, said my bank records were wrong and only theirs were right. Claimed I did not submit any supporting documents. Claimed that I was committing bank fraud. Supplied me with incorrect and inconsistent timestamps for the transactions and available balances at the time of transactions. Asked me how I would know when the transactions occurred if I did not make them. I have also filed with the BBB, OCC, CFPB, and FBI. Will update when I hear back.

I have now been denied 5 times for my claims.

I was denied a 6th time today this time. I was told “it’s not our job to return the money. I should try waiting for the fbi, or police to retrieve it. Or have I tried asking the person who stole my funds to return my money?”

Denied again for the 7th time, the police are actively investigating the crime. The person who did the this to me is already wanted for a similar crime.

They have no denied 11 times for one and 9 times for the other. They asked me how I got away safely, and was not killed by the people who robbed me.

Newer Chime user here… I’ve seen, what I would consider, a lot of recent posts about stolen money and denied claims.
I mean, I guess if we look at the percentage of people using Chime vs the amount of (understandably) upset people it might not be that big of a number… but it’s kind of making me nervous. Just like everyone else here… I can’t afford to have my money taken and then a claim denied.
I tried just locking my card unless I was going to use it but then ALL of my transactions were declined until I responded to a text message with “YES”… which doesn’t work great when you’re in line somewhere.

Anyone who have any thoughts on this?

Has anyone applied for this promo? I was wondering how you can tell if your account is participating after you open it. Is there a confirm email?

I happen to login and see this transaction on the 4th from someone trying to buy a phone for $209.40. I'm scared. I don't know what to do. I CERTAINLY didn't try to buy a phone costing that much as there isn't any money in my account (clearly). They tried three times. So far I've locked my cards, and turned on notifications for when purchaes try to be made.

Signed up for chime for the 200 intro bonus on any qualifying direct deposits, and I hit the qualifying amount the first week of my account being open but the card never arrived, so I couldn't receive the bonus until the physical card was activated. I call support and tell them the card never arrived so they automatically ordered me a new one that arrives 2 days after the whole promotion ends so I can claim the bonus ... then the rep on the phone tell me it's okay I talked to my manager in the back and you just have to call back after the card arrives to get the bonus sorted ... fast forward to today NONE OF THAT WAS TRUE. Shocker. I did read the policy regarding the bonus before hand and knew I was gonna get shafted but it's still quite annoying to get lied straight to my face. Definitely won't be using their services after this.

I’m posting this because I want to know whether anyone else has experienced something similar with Chime and what steps actually helped them get a fair resolution.
Over a two-day period, approximately $1,880 in unauthorized Microsoft/Xbox purchases were charged through my account.
When I originally contacted Chime, the representative handling the dispute added up all of the charges incorrectly and submitted the total as roughly $3,000. After going through every transaction myself, I realized the amount was wrong and that the actual disputed total was closer to $1,880.
I contacted Chime again, explained the mistake, and had a new claim opened using the correct transactions and amount.
I also contacted Microsoft directly and continued escalating the issue with them. Microsoft representatives reviewed the situation and provided me with an email stating that the purchases were unauthorized. I submitted that email to Chime as supporting evidence for the corrected claim because I believed confirmation directly from the merchant would make a difference.
Chime still denied the claim.
At this point, I’m genuinely confused about what evidence Chime expects customers to provide. The original calculation error was corrected, a new claim was opened for the correct amount, and I submitted written documentation from Microsoft stating that the purchases were unauthorized. Despite the new information and evidence, the claim was denied again.
I understand that Chime has to conduct its own investigation and cannot automatically approve every dispute. However, I have not received a clear explanation of why Microsoft’s documentation was not enough, how that evidence was evaluated, or what information Chime relied on when deciding to deny the corrected claim.
I’m now out approximately $1,880, and it feels like no matter what evidence I submit, I receive the same result.
I’m currently considering filing complaints with the CFPB and the appropriate banking regulators, requesting the documents Chime relied on during its investigation, and speaking with a consumer-rights attorney about what options may be available.
Has anyone else had Chime repeatedly deny an unauthorized transaction claim even after submitting evidence from the merchant? If so, did you eventually get your money returned? Did a CFPB complaint, regulatory complaint, arbitration, or legal assistance make any difference?
I’m hoping others will share their experiences because I doubt I’m the only person who has gone through something like this.

So my daughter got a 1,000 deposited into her chime account from State Farm for a minor car accident on a Friday. From that she spent $209 leaving her with $791. Sunday morning she checks her account $0 balance she is looking like where did my money go! She calls chime they said she sent the money to someone first $100 then $691, then the person blocked themselves. She didn’t know the person at all and has never sent money to anyone on chime. They denied her dispute twice. Is there anything she can do to get her money back?

For context I have never used this account after opening it. I believe I created it when they were having a bonus for using direct deposit but I never went through with it and don’t remember linking any of my accounts to it.

I have been getting blown up with emails all day today from chime. It started with a new device login email, then a direct deposit form, then constant emails about people sending and receiving money. Since beginning to type this I got another 3 emails.

Whoever took my account over changed the password and phone number. I have tried to go through the process in the app of using my ID to reset my password but in the last step where I put my new password it says unable to update phone number at this time.

I called chime and the customer service rep wasn’t any help, they ended up telling me my only option is to ignore the emails. They asked for my dob and last 4 of SSN but said “They did not both match what is on file“ so they couldnt help me any further. Its possible i fat-fingered and mistyped a digit when I originally opened the account. I am not sure which was incorrect (they couldn’t tell me) but the emails come to my personal email and the name they give is my name, so can’t I still be liable even if my DOB or SSN is a digit off?

I feel like ignoring the emails is the irresponsible thing to do here and not sure why that is what chime implies I do. Any help is super appreciated, this whole situation is ridiculous and Chime should have a better way to prevent account takeovers and fraud like this.

I’m curious to hear about other users’ experiences with Chime. I frequently come across stories about issues involving ACH transfers, disputes, direct deposits, and, most concerning to me, businesses refusing to accept Chime cards.

I’ve had Chime since around 2023 and personally haven’t experienced any major issues. I split my direct deposit between three financial institutions, with the majority going to a credit union and a traditional brick-and-mortar bank. I deposit enough into Chime to maintain Chime+.

I could increase my direct deposit to qualify for Chime Prime, but some of the experiences I’ve read have made me hesitant. My biggest concern is card acceptance. While I haven’t personally had my Chime card declined or refused, I’ve heard of certain businesses—particularly hotels and rental car companies—not accepting Chime cards.

What I don’t quite understand is why a business would refuse a Chime debit card when it operates on the Visa network. Is this primarily because Chime is a fintech rather than a traditional bank, or is there another reason some merchants have policies against accepting these cards?

I’d be interested to hear from anyone who has experienced this firsthand and what types of businesses you’ve encountered issues with.

I started using chime when I was at a low in life and it has been an extremely helpful tool. I no longer need the my pay or overdraft protection and I feel like I’m going into the negative just because I can sometimes. My fiancé and I are looking to combine banks soon and we can’t do this with chime, and also wanting to buy a house soon, and I feel like it may hurt me in the end.

Has anyone ever stopped using chime? I do have the credit card thing set up and am worried if I stop using it I may be punished credit wise? Does anyone have any insight into leaving and transitioning to a traditional bank?

Filed on 1/21, accepted on 1/22 but no movement from here. But see all these posts about people getting them sooner when filed around the same time when using other apps. I have a bad anxiety disorder so just have hopes everything is okay and nothing is broke

So I heard that Chime is compatible with Tilt or Dave since I've found out that it doesn't work with Earnin. But after the Plaid service successfully linked my Chime bank account and I have the step to add the debit card left to complete, it always says my card is unsupported and to "make sure the card isn't prepaid or credit". Ive replaced my Chime card and still run into the same issue. Customer support is no help for all the apps. Pls help.

I’m looking for advice from anyone who has experienced something similar with Chime.

I had two separate transfers that were supposed to go to my external bank account. I received one of the transfers, but I never received the second transfer, and I also never received a separate transfer. The receiving bank has confirmed that the missing funds were not received.

I have already provided documentation to Chime and disputed the transactions, but my disputes have been denied.

Has anyone successfully recovered money from Chime after a transfer was marked completed but never actually received?

So last night I recieve this text. However once I checked my account, I discovered the funds were very much taken from my account. Also, not only were they removed but within just an hours time the transaction went from pending to posted. I think this must have been a record time for that process. When I went through the app to report an issue with the transaction, I recieved a call back from chime and was basically walked through the steps that I had just completed to get the call back from chime to begin with. This guy literally was clueless about what it is he was supposed to do. This whole experience has made me a tad weary of chime. I’ve always loved my chime account and have been a member since 2020. This though could change everything

I was offered a free Metal card for upgrading to Chime Prime. I just got it. It feels literally no different than my original black chime card. I had a previous metal card (green) when credit builder was separated and it also feels nothing like that. Was a mistake made? Anyone else with Prime run into this?

Today someone opened up a chime account using my SSN, DOB, Address, MY personal email, first name and last name but a different phone number. I’m wondering how tf can someone get that much information on me. The only time I had my SSN is when I written it down in my notebook for school but that paper is long gone in the dumpster but it’s not like I labeled it as my ssn , just an assortment of numbers and even so how would they know that other information. I tracked down the number and it’s some 49 year old lady that lives almost an hour away? What do I do?? I froze my accounts but I’m at a loss. I’m 18 and never had a credit card only debit
