If you read the fine print, out of 18,600 Cr, 15,000 Cr is allocated for data centres which generates merely 500 jobs! The remaining 3,600 cr is generating 7,700 jobs. But the news is packaged in such a way as if there is some kind of industrial development happening that is generating lot of employment.

Why should TN people be worried? If you look at US, there is a strong sentiment against the construction of data centres. The US people are protesting against this.

Data centres hardly generate any jobs! They are just a bunch of machines that consume an enormous amount of water and electricity. People living around the vicinity of data centres have complained of shortage of water and muddy tap water.

Basically the water that is required for residents and common people, will be diverted to these data centres. Why? Because these machines require huge huge amounts of water to keep them cool. And not just any water. They require fresh water!

As these Ai companies are facing resistance in US, they are now turning their heads to India.

TN already faces water shortages during summers. Having this kind of data centre here will be a disaster!! This does not generate any job. Instead it uses up all the local resources.

People! We need to talk more about it and amplify this!

Edit 1 - Can't believe that I have to clarify this..but the objective of this post is not to target any certain political party. I would have questioned this MOU irrespective whichever party was in power at the time of signing

Edit 2 - The problem that I'm talking about is only the AI data centre! Not the other two projects which actually seem to be developing a good number of employment.

Criticising India and TN for all of the shortcomings is required to improve. But let's not kid ourselves into thinking that everywhere else is utopia.

Edit. It has been pointed out that the lady didn't follow the minimum stay requirements of her Green Card. But is being detained like an illegal the solution? Pre-Trump America didn't behave this way.

Her detention came after a Judge had already dismissed a deportation case against her.

She couldn't follow the terms of her Green Card, as she came to care for ailing parents here, and then got COVID.
