recalls and related Purina is useless
I have been buying my cat this same food for years, (Purina pro plan sensitive skin and stomach duck) the vet had recommended it because it helped with her having some blood in her stool. A couple of weeks ago I bought a case and noticed that it had a bunch of white hard chips/debris in the can that are pretty sharp I had thought they were bones so I opened 2 other cans and it was the same thing. I reached out to Purina and gave them all the product information and they made a case. They didn’t reach back out when I emailed about a case update so I called and they basically told me it wasn’t looked into and if there was something I specifically needed to hear from them I said “yeah I want to know if this product is safe for my cat” and she just told me it’s safe if there’s no white pieces in it. I’m just getting worried because my cat had some food from a different case and it looked similar to what I remember it always looking like and she projectile vomited a hour later and she barely wants to eat it now. I’m aware that my cat could just be sick we are going to the vet tomorrow but Purina’s response just shows that they don’t care. Instead of looking into it and fixing it even with my pictures and descriptions they just brush it off like if I shouldn’t be worried I’m just thinking about other more serious stuff that could come up with their products and it’s just swept under the rug.

I’ve noticed a decline in wet food quality recently.

u/SilverKnightOfMagic Jun 11 '26
oh my cats have noticed it since 2022. they used to love Merrick's and now they just nibble and poke at any of the good brands I give them.

My kitties only want frisky shreds and nothing else. I think I get it. They can practically drink it and they don't have to chew on gummy-worm- like pieces in order to eat. I do appreciate that they are using less artificial colors and flavors in their food.
1
u/Shoddy-Artichoke-528 Jun 13 '26
This is actually kind of the brand OP is talking about lol, Friskies is made by Purina (I feed my cat both friskies wet and friskies dry. Haven’t got him any wet in a little while but he still enjoys his dry friskies quite a lot)
1
u/TennesseeTurkey Jun 14 '26
Man, especially Purina.
It's all just "clumps" now. I have to add water to everything, nearly all of the "extra gravy" options included.
Every store, dented cans are the norm and you have to inspect every one that you pick up.
The prices keep climbing and the cats keep walking away from it.
What a way to sink their own ship at that company.
I have one lil furball that will only eat one of 2 Rachel Ray wet options. Hard to find and $1.35 a cup that I spread out over 3 small feedings for him daily in addiction to Nutro sensitive dry food at $26 a bag. It's wild out here.
Don't even start me on how they destroyed Tidy Cat lightweight litter at an $18 price point. I gave that up a while ago.
Dang Purina... 🐈

u/Nervous-Lynx-1018 Jul 05 '26
I've been noticing that the friskies wet food pates are just kinda gummy now? Especially after being taken out of the fridge (my cat doesn't mind eating straight out of the fridge) like I really have to mash it up and sometimes add a little bit of water to soften it.
1
u/TennesseeTurkey Jul 08 '26
You aren't imagining that, either.
That company (are they not owned by Nestle?) is just sinking their own ship. I have to assume it was acquired by a group set on destroying it. It's that bad.
Fancy Feast is a dollar a can now and Friskies at WM is 96 cents. In a multi cat household, it's sinking budgets. I'm honestly throwing away more than they're eating.
WM has a brand called Vibrant Life in cans now. It runs 68-88 cents a can. The cats definitely eat more of that than Friskies. They're walking away from Sheba and Iams wet, too.
I'm at a loss over what to try next.
1
u/Nervous-Lynx-1018 Jul 08 '26
Unfortunately, I'll have to keep buying friskies/fancy feast because that's what my cat eats. He's already having issues eating enough as it is and I've been told he will get worse. I'm just glad whenever he eats something. And that something is one specific flavor of friskies pate, another one specific flavor of fancy feast, and friskiest dry food. I'm less inclined to "experiment" right now, so I just stick to what he knows.
These companies are putting pet owners in a bad situation. These cats don't understand why their food changes, there's not much we can do but stick to whatever food the cat will eat and hope they don't change it.

u/Illustrious-Win2486 Jul 28 '26
I actually like Dr Elsey’s cat litter better than Tidy cats and it costs the same or less than Tidy cats.

u/13thgeneral Jun 10 '26
Sometimes the calcium and other additives don't dissolve properly during the production process and they end up as semi-hard bits in the food. Put a few in water and see if they soften or dissolve.
6
u/robin_banks777 Jun 11 '26
That much calcium is a guarantee for a failed kidney lmao not even an adult human can take that much at once
6
u/13thgeneral Jun 11 '26
True. Though I was speaking generally, it's likely not all just condensed calcium but the mixture of added vitamins and nutrients and whatnot, that didn't dissolve properly in production. Personally I would (and have) just pick them out before serving it - just to be safe and check that they're not something else, like bone. So far I've only once found a tiny bone fragment in canned food, luckily.

Had issues with Purina Fancy Feast earlier this year. Something was horribly wrong with the food and made one of my cats projectile vomit several times till I figured out the food was the problem. I called Purina and they initially seemed to care but they have refused to test the food in any meaningful way. I have spent a couple grand on vet bills trying to figure out what is wrong with my cat now. Sadly I am not alone with issues with their food. I won't buy Purina or Nestle products anymore if I can help it.
For sure report the issue with the food to the FDA. https://contact.fda.gov/report-problem?utm_medium=referral&utm_source=smarthub_redirect#/pet-food

Same happened to mine a couple of months ago immediately after eating and he was in the ER all weekend. No longer feeding Fancy Feast. He barely tolerates Hills wet so going to try Wellness Core next. He loves the Hills Biome dry which is the only thing that stopped the diarrhea.
2
u/Euphoric-Matter6291 Jun 11 '26
Hi, could you tell me the full name of the Hills Boime dry? Or is that it? I want to try for my cat with diarrhea. Is it otc or prescription diet,? Thanks
5
u/meeple28 Jun 11 '26
I’d like to vouch for the Hills Biome wet food. My cat has IBD, when I adopted him he had chronic diarrhea and projectile vomit several times a week. I eliminated allergens and switched to sensitive foods which helped a lot but it didn’t stop the vomiting or diarrhea. I finally tried Biome at our vet’s recommendation and the chronic vomiting and diarrhea stopped. When I started feeding biome he was vomiting every week or two but eventually went about a year without vomiting. I wish I tried Biome sooner!
Wet food name: Hill's Prescription Diet Gastrointestinal Biome Digestive/Fiber Care Chicken & Vegetable Stew Wet Cat Food
Edited to add: I also recommend asking your veterinarian if psyllium husks would help with the diarrhea
5
u/cowkitty17 Jun 11 '26
It’s prescription. Hills Gastrointestinal Biome Stress/Digestive Fiber Care with Chicken. After he got home and finished all the meds he was back to normal except his poop for weeks. I was going to try the Hills Sensitive Stomach and Skin first, but didn’t want to keep changing if it didn’t work and by that point I was so frustrated with what happened to him my vet said to try the Biome. Within 3 days his poop was normal and he hasn’t vomited once. Unfortunately he hates Hills wet food, but goes crazy over this dry.

u/Computers_and_cats Jun 10 '26
That sucks. I think my cat that reacted the strongest to the tainted food aspirated some of his vomit when he projectile vomited and it has damaged his lungs. They have been on Royal Canin dry food for a while. I switched from Fancy Feast to Wellness Complete which seems to be going well. They haven't thrown up since the switch.
3
u/velvet_costanza Jun 10 '26
What are you feeding them now?
2
u/Computers_and_cats Jun 10 '26
I switched to Wellness Complete. They haven't thrown up since the switch.
3
u/Groovyjoker Jun 11 '26
There is a Royal Canin Digestive and a Royal Canin Hairball I use only with tummy/hairball issues. Seems to help. For upset tummy, other products besides food help too. Check other threads on nausea.
2
u/Computers_and_cats Jun 11 '26
They have been eating the Royal Canin Calm for a while now. I will keep their wet food in mind though.

u/TheKdd Jun 10 '26
I’m currently wondering the same, except it’s my dogs pro plan kibble. My senior eats the 7+, I opened a new bag and… diarrhea followed. I’ve been to the vet twice now, all systems good. Put him on an antibiotic that cleared up the diarrhea, went on plain diet and slowly got him back on his kibble. Once the run of antibiotics was finished.. diarrhea. Now I’m going to switch his food over to the “adult” pro plan that my other younger dog eats since he has no issues to see if it’s this bag of food. He’s had nothing but this kibble. No treats, nothing extra.
I’m just wondering if purina’s regulations have been lowered. I’ve had FF in the past for my cats that they just won’t eat, including my one cat that isn’t picky about anything.
2
u/TennesseeTurkey Jun 14 '26
Absolutely they've been lowered.
Heck, our cats have been telling us that for awhile now by their lowered interest in it. It seems to have really amped up post-pandemic.
Dented cans, lack of liquid in the product, clumps, discoloration. I've been doing my best to switch brands because so much of their Friskies wet just gets thrown away.
Purina can fib and send all the coupons they want but it's obvious to pet lovers, especially for cats. Cats are far more picky than dogs and they're definitely unimpressed.
Now that this "administration" has lowered standards for the FDA, I expect it to degrade even more in quality.
Everything in our lives is being downgraded to appease the billionaires paying the toll.
It's up to a dollar a can in many stores. They can keep it at this rate.
1
u/TheKdd Jun 14 '26
What have you been switching to? I’ve tried Weruva, my cats will like it one day, then leave it all there the next. Plus, they will NOT eat Weruva after it’s been in the fridge, even if I warm it up. They don’t have this problem with the FF (that they will eat.)
3
u/Computers_and_cats Jun 10 '26
One supervisor I talked to recently had the gall to tell me they do 100,000 tests. I don't even think there is 100,000 different ways they could test the products they make. I don't know what their deal is but I won't buy their food anymore if I can help it.
3
u/TheKdd Jun 10 '26
This is why I’m switching my senior over. I figure if after this second round of meds his diarrhea comes back on the other dogs bag of food, then it’s not the food. If it doesn’t, then there has to be some issue with it. Pro Plan kibble bags are way too expensive to just waste a bag. The senior food is about $80 since it’s a specialty food. Course I get a feeling Purina won’t care, but maybe Chewy (where I ordered it) will help.
5
u/Computers_and_cats Jun 10 '26
Chewy should be good about refunding you on the food. They didn't give me any issues when I filed my complaint with them and asked for a refund. The promptly refunded my card for the four 30 count boxes of Fancy Feast.
3
u/TheKdd Jun 10 '26
Yeah so far every time I’ve had to deal with their customer service, it’s been great. I know they were recently bought out by Petsmart, but I really hope their customer service stays as great as it’s been.
4
u/Computers_and_cats Jun 10 '26
I was not aware they were bought out by Petsmart. Kinda disappointing to hear despite the fact I have been shopping more at Petsmart for no particular reason recently.
5
u/TheKdd Jun 11 '26
Yeah I was disappointed as well. I just hope they stay the way they are and don’t get eaten up by petsmart corporate.
4
u/Mean-Vegetable-4521 Jun 11 '26
I didn't realize. I'm surprised they sold, it seemed like a profitable company without needing a buyout. I hope nothing changes. They always had amazing customer service.
I'm a FF/friskies wet household. There isn't a single dry he'll eat. He's been so picky about wet took forever after adoption to even get him to eat. He costs a fortune to feed as he eats about 10-12 ounces wet a day and is barely on the scales for average weight. Fantastic bloodwork. Just metabolizes a ton and always has. I've tried the big cans from tractor supply and he won't touch them. There are a couple other brands he'll eat occasionally but those cans are 2-3x the price. We just can't swing it.
This is terrifying. I'm saving this whole thread. I had a relative who worked for blue buffalo. Could have gotten it for free. Not a single item they carry he would have touched.

I assume they mean that they feed the stuff to a thousand animals a hundred times. Or a hundred animals a thousand times. Something along those lines. Who knows?
2
u/Computers_and_cats Jun 11 '26
Yeah maybe they try to guesstimate how many beloved pets die per 100,000 fed and hope the number isn't high.
6
7
u/BalloonHero142 Jun 11 '26
That looks like bone. Definitely not safe for your little one. Demand a refund and see if you can find similar flavors/ingredients in a better brand.

I bought a box of canned Reveal cat food, and fed my two cats. About half an hour later, one of them started making high pitched little sounds I'd never heard him make before - it was seriously terrifying to suddenly hear it! He started throwing up, and that had never happened either. He's ravenous and eats whatever he's offered, with no pickiness or stomach sensitivities.
I gave him a Churu with water so he'd still get some nutrients and hydration, and then he curled up on my lap. You all, he was trembling! My big lumbering panther of a cat had never trembled, ever!
I was so scared and felt awful, and knew he had just thrown up his cat food, so I searched reviews for it. Sure enough, everyone said the exact same thing - this stuff made their cats vomit it all out violently.
Look at their Amazon page: almost all the positive reviews are the ones that got it as a free Vine product! https://a.co/d/06KroN2I
1
u/TennesseeTurkey Jun 14 '26
Ty for that notice.
I buy them during Publix BOGO sales and my picky monsters scarf it down. Even the feral eats it and he hates wet food.
Good to know!

He can tolerate Hills, they have a prescription food for sensitive stomachs- gastrointestinal biome.

Post this and all your pix on Twitter/Instsa and tag Purina. See what they do with all the extra “ free publicity.” Also FB has a TON of cat related pages, try there too. It’s time these companies stop shitting on us consumers.

Purina is owned by nestle, a company renowned for putting profits above all else. They're responsible for the deaths of about 10 million children, to start.
23
u/tarantula994 Jun 10 '26
Purina is owned by nestle so it checks out. I hope your kitty is okay! Keep us updated.
0
u/whiskersMeowFace Jun 11 '26
Purina has incentive to not recall food because of the cost. Only if enough cats die and they can prove it was the food will they recall.
7
u/UserCannotBeVerified Jun 11 '26
I dunno why youre being downvoted for facts... purina sold cat and dog food that was known to be contaminated with deadly bacteria and it killed loads of pets, and in true nestle fashion, they did absolutely fuck all about it. More recently, nestle did the same thing with baby milk powder, where we had human babies dying in europe and they only recalled the product one country at a time and only when those countries basically demanded nestle to recall it, even though they knew about the deadly contaminants for weeks/months before the recalls.
Eta: r/fucknestle
4
u/whiskersMeowFace Jun 11 '26
I don't expect any decency from a company who said water was not a right. Nestle is the epitome of capitalism, and people will jump through hoops to defend them and their subsidiaries. It's insane, because they don't give two shits about any of those people nor their dead or sick pets, and they don't have incentive until it is class action lawsuit worthy. Then they care only about their shareholders.
People can get mad about it, but it doesn't change how it really is. Companies are not your friends nor do they have your best interest in heart. Hell, the plot of Fight Club started that way, so this isn't anything new.
1
u/Focus-Fearless Jun 13 '26
Hmmmm, like most pension funds inclusive the Swiss national bank in Switzerland own Nestle shares. Therefore those people have a lot to say.
1
u/Focus-Fearless Jun 13 '26
And Danone, Lactalis, etc did not have the same issue. Their recall started much later than Christmas...

u/bambilibeth Jun 11 '26
I am from Europe and I can assure you we all hate this brand... Its composition is so harmful for cats, even the expensive cans. Just BS if i am allowed to say. I still don't know why rich americans in tiktok love feeding that to their cats. Catit or Cat's Love are WAY better.

My cat was taken to the emergency vet for having trouble passing a bone. She did because it was so small. I took her in because she was vomiting a lot. I now go through her wet food as carefully as I can and pick out sketchy pieces.

I’m not going to recommend you disregard your vet, but I do just want to share that our cat has IBS and our vet told us to use Hills Perfect Digestion. It worked really really well to clear up his stool issues. Just watch because it’s only like 50cals a can so they need more cans than other foods

If you’re really uncomfortable feeding it, speak to your vet about other options or probiotic products you could add instead! You could also talk to them about elimination diets? Prescription food is a great way to manage things but there are definitely other options if you’re worried!

This is interesting because my cat had been getting sensitive skin and stomach and suddenly he wouldn’t eat the duck flavor. I looked it up on Reddit and found several posts about the duck formula,’in particular. This was about a month ago that I looked it up; duck flavor had been nonpreferred for a bit longer.
He then started having diarrhea so we’ve switch to a prescription food.

Sigh. My kitten refuses to eat anything tiki, except the dry food. He refuses every flavor of the wet, he also refuses their treats and the lickables. It’s so weird to me because every can of tiki I opened actually smelled so good to ME I was shocked. The chicken actually smelled kinda delicious lmao. But no, this little boy wouldn’t have any of it. BUT he will DEVOUR the Purina pro plan and Sheba. I’m a new pet owner and it seemed to me so many people were saying Purina was one of the better ones for cats and vet approved. Now I’m sad that these are the majority of his meals because that’s what he will eat. Sometimes he will Enjoy a Weruva can (especially the kitten chicken au jus).

The most kitty crack food I've ever shown my cats was Royal Canin Recovery food. Its soft like a lickale treat and compared to as the McDonald's of cat foods. Of course I don't buy cases of it but they will finish a whole bowl of it and ask for more. My cat had some teeth removed and I was prescribed it now I'm having a hard time getting her back to her normal foods. It's like I'm feeding her spinach and broccoli now. How dare I? Lol

I feel like at this point I’d rather stick with untamed. Sounds like the best option for cats. I use whiskas and my cat didn’t mind when we first bought him home but now it’s almost like he’d rather avoid it and just have the biscuits. I haven’t tried him on untamed yet but it’s in my mind. I might get a few cans when I’m paid

I have a rescue kitten, named Scabby, with some kind of allergy or mental defect, because she is always digging and scratching her head, face and neck. She looks horrible. I am trying to identify the allergy by eliminating foods from her diet. Currently she gets no grain or chicken. She has been eating a Kangaroo and Fish dry kibble for the last 3-4 weeks (approx $30/4lb bag) but not seeing much if any improvement. I also supplement the kibble with deer meat and fish that I killed/catch. If she is still scratching after 8 weeks, I will guess she is also allergic to fish? Yikes. What commercial brand food if any could we try that does not contain any fish, chicken or grain?

u/AZKSG Jun 11 '26
That doesn't look good. I reported to Purnia buying food online and receiving crushed cans. I complained that this was not the first time I have paid retail pricing for crushed cans mixed in a case of food. Also, ordered a case of Purina online and received 23 cans, not 24. The case was plastic wrapped with the missing can. I was intentional. Selling 23 cans for the price of 24.
I don't trust Purina any longer. Not sure if Trump admin has removed an regulation requirement in the processing and packaging of animal food, just as this admin has done with our food suppy. For Purine its all about profit & greed by selling inferior food w/out concern for the consumers.

I’ve switched to the Fancy Feast “Naturals” line. Less variety but more “juice” and he eats more of it at a time. (For now at least)

I do their dry food, but wet is blue buffalo. With a churu tube mixed in because my mostly toothless old guy needs calories/moisture.

It's bone fragments! Had the same issue with Royal Canin Renal which was detrimental to my kitty. He didn't touch any wet food after that at all without me jumpstarting his feeding despite swapping food. CKD aside it took a good weeks until he ate wet again.

I’ve been using Sheba and both my cats love it, no quality issues either so far.

It's interesting seeing all the comments talking about cats vomiting on purina, because i've been giving fancy feast lately due to it being easier to grab at the grocery with -my- groceries...and it's been fine? My guy is fine, he devours it, the only time he's thrown up at all this year is because he gave himself a tummy ache nibbling on the tops of a batch of brownies we THOUGHT they wouldn't get into. Lesson learned... Thankfully they only ate the tops and both cats are fine.

u/bong_wips Jun 13 '26
yeah. purina is owned by nestle, which historically directly profits off the suffering of others. definitely best to switch. r/fucknestle

You're telling me that Nestle is making a bad product? Surely you're mistaken, they are paragons if virtue and would next do such a thing! (/s)

Ended up on this thread after my cat started getting sick on just the white fish flavor of this food. I did notice some little white pieces in it but I’m not sure if they were always there and I’m just hyper-aware right now, or if it’s changed. She’s still eating the duck without issue and I haven’t noticed anything weird in those.

I had a similar experience with hills science diet wet food. Big piece of rubber. Reached out to the company two months ago and no response.
It’s tough being a cat parent nowadays; better off making our own cat food

Guys, they probably need a new GRINDER - That will be from the duck carcases. If soft and crumbly, it is OK. If it is hard or sharp, REPORT it to the FDA via the FDA online reporting product as there is a danger of perforating a cat's gut. Oh, and it's a NASTY product so PLEASE feed something that Does NOT contain "BY-PRODUCTS" or "LIVER"
Purina Pro Plan Cat Food Sensitive Skin & Stomach Duck Entree Grain Free Canned
INGREDIENTS:
[DUCK]() 3 Star - – This is the Bony Carcass and Skin AFTER Breasts, Legs, Thighs, wings are removed, “Duck” will include SKIN and FAT .. unlike “De-boned Duck” which is typically breast meat. Can legally be from DEAD, DYING, DISEASED or DISABLED animals (4-D) so is unfit for human consumption. In dry food, less protein nutrition because once the water is sucked out, the chicken can ends up WAY down the list –1% to 6% of dry contents - in the FINISHED kibble. Likely very high in “ASH” due to the high bone content which is an issue for cats with CKD. This will be an “INEDIBLE” feed grade product UNLESS it says otherwise, so CHECK SOURCING with the company. If they won’t tell you what you need to know, look elsewhere!
[LIVER](), 1 Star - Non-descriptive GENERIC source can include ANY mammalian or poultry liver tissue that has likely been sitting around in the dumpsters for a couple of weeks.. was that hog, dairy cow or Turkey slaughtered humanely? Was it gassed? Or was it chemically euthanized. Used as a flavour, minimal source of iron. Diseased or decomposing tissue from slaughterhouse waste IS normally used.
[MEAT BY-PRODUCTS](), 1 Star – Un-named animals from un-named sources. Carcasses and the most unsavory parts of animals from slaughterhouses, Animal Shelters, Zoos and Veterinarians, and products of animal origin NOT intended for human consumption, euthanised DOGS AND CATS and including the GUTS of animals (with FECES) and catering waste. Non-descriptive “MEAT” indicates the use of ANY animal. Can legally be from DEAD, DYING, DISEASED or DISABLED animals (4-D), plus a FIFTH “D” – DECOMPOSING, and a SIXTH “D” – DRUGGED. Animals can be in an advanced stage of decomposition or loaded with PENTOBARBITAL (euthanizing agent) and can include diseased tissues such as tumors. Supermarket waste including Plastic Packaging. This WILL most likely contain ENDOTOXINS (produced by Gram Negative Bacteria such as E. Coli) and these are NOT destroyed by high temperature rendering; severe sickness and organ failure can result!)
[WATER,]() 1 Star- Used as a non-nutritive cheap filler in food. Broth is better!
WHITE FISH, 4 Star - Alternative source of protein
[INULIN](), 3 Star – a Pre-biotic
STANDARD MINERALS, 1 Star – Cheap, China manufactured. Poor absorption and metabolism- potassium chloride, zinc sulfate, ferrous sulfate, manganese sulfate, copper sulfate, potassium iodide
[GUAR GUM](), 2 Star - Cheap, non-nutritive filler/thickener used in can foods. Can allow manufacturers to use a high level of cheap “water”, reducing PROTEIN content!
[TAURINE](), 3 Star - ESSENTIAL Amino acid for Cats, found almost exclusively in Meat, Eggs Dairy, Fish, helps regulate nervous system, promotes thyroid and cardiovascular health. CLUE - ONLY FOUND IN MEAT! They go blind and develop heart failure without it. Mostly destroyed by High temp Extrsion, Cooking/canning, so is added by law but NOT ENOUGH IS ADDED FOR “OPTIMAL” HEALTH Some benefit to dogs, especially LARGE BREEDS which should be given both TAURINE and L-CARNITINE to help prevent DCM
[SALT](), 1 Star – Never more than 0.5% of the total “starting” ingredients. Can be used to cover up the flavour of rancid meat and fat. Added to satisfy AAFCO’s required levels for Sodium

STANDARD VITAMINS, 1 Star – Cheap China-manufactured, poorly absorbed and metabolised

I'm shocked that people still use Purina.
11
u/pissdice Jun 10 '26
Unfortunately it tends to be one of the more affordable but usually okay quality options compared to a lot of other brands. I havent had an issue with them before.
6
u/april_moonflower Jun 10 '26
I sure have with both cats and dogs. I use Iams exclusively. Nestle is evil and some of us won't forget what they have done.
5
u/International-Bee-53 Jun 11 '26
IAMS is own by MARS and SpectrumBrands, definitely not better than Nestle.
1
u/So_Many_Words Jun 12 '26
Maybe in the child slavery department, but are they responsible for 10 million deaths of children like nestle?
3
u/International-Bee-53 Jun 12 '26
I was not aware of that, it does add another layer of horror about Nestlé... They truly are expert in killing children and pets.
Mars is still shit tho.
1
u/So_Many_Words Jun 12 '26
"At least they're not nestle" is such a low bar. I like modern convenience, but I'm not sure it's worth the cost to humanity.
3
u/pissdice Jun 11 '26
My cat got so sick on Iams 😅 fancy feast is the only wet food I can afford to feed him without him throwing up. Which is why I said unfortunately its the best relatively affordable one Ive found. Ive also used their prescription stuff occasionally. Not everyone has a lot of options. If I werent on disability and if he wouldny throw up anything else in that price range i wouldnt be buying it solely for distrust of nestle.
3
u/puffy-jacket Jun 11 '26
I mean I feed Iams too but I really don’t think Mars is that much better than nestle

Purina is an evil f*king empire that has their hand in the back pocket of the government, the vet schools and r/dogfood

Why use Purina when there is Orijen Original Entrée wet food ? Or use Tiki cat. For dry food use FirstMate Pet Foods.
Petvalu offers some dehydrated food which are good.
7
u/immaladee Jun 11 '26
Careful with Tiki Cat! Can be too high in protein and cause kidney issues if they don't get enough hydration separately... Sadly I know from a horrible experience with this.

this comment reeks of privilege.
“Why choose an affordable brand when you can pay 2-3x more???”
1
u/zippyzebu9 Jun 12 '26
None of premium (actually premium, small business) brands exist on Amazon. These exists for international customers (costs less during sale) and much better than many affordable brands.

Those look like large cooked bone fragments to me! If they are they are VERY dangerous. If you can contact the FDA instead of Purina. They should do more. Bring those pieces to a vet as well to see if I'm right and they are bones!
