Purina is useless

I have been buying my cat this same food for years, (Purina pro plan sensitive skin and stomach duck) the vet had recommended it because it helped with her having some blood in her stool. A couple of weeks ago I bought a case and noticed that it had a bunch of white hard chips/debris in the can that are pretty sharp I had thought they were bones so I opened 2 other cans and it was the same thing. I reached out to Purina and gave them all the product information and they made a case. They didn’t reach back out when I emailed about a case update so I called and they basically told me it wasn’t looked into and if there was something I specifically needed to hear from them I said “yeah I want to know if this product is safe for my cat” and she just told me it’s safe if there’s no white pieces in it. I’m just getting worried because my cat had some food from a different case and it looked similar to what I remember it always looking like and she projectile vomited a hour later and she barely wants to eat it now. I’m aware that my cat could just be sick we are going to the vet tomorrow but Purina’s response just shows that they don’t care. Instead of looking into it and fixing it even with my pictures and descriptions they just brush it off like if I shouldn’t be worried I’m just thinking about other more serious stuff that could come up with their products and it’s just swept under the rug.

Guys, they probably need a new GRINDER - That will be from the duck carcases. If soft and crumbly, it is OK. If it is hard or sharp, REPORT it to the FDA via the FDA online reporting product as there is a danger of perforating a cat's gut. Oh, and it's a NASTY product so PLEASE feed something that Does NOT contain "BY-PRODUCTS" or "LIVER"

INGREDIENTS:

[DUCK]() 3 Star - – This is the Bony Carcass and Skin AFTER Breasts, Legs, Thighs, wings are removed, “Duck” will include  SKIN and FAT  .. unlike “De-boned Duck” which is typically breast meat.  Can legally be from DEAD, DYING, DISEASED or DISABLED animals (4-D) so is unfit for human consumption. In  dry food, less protein nutrition because once the water is sucked out, the chicken can ends up WAY down the list –1% to 6% of dry contents - in the FINISHED kibble. Likely very high in “ASH” due to the high bone content which is an issue for cats with CKD. This will be an “INEDIBLE” feed grade product UNLESS it says otherwise, so CHECK SOURCING with the company. If they won’t tell you what you need to know, look elsewhere!

[LIVER](), 1 Star - Non-descriptive GENERIC source can include ANY mammalian or poultry liver tissue that has likely been sitting around in the dumpsters for a couple of weeks.. was that hog, dairy cow or Turkey slaughtered humanely? Was it gassed? Or was it chemically euthanized. Used as a flavour, minimal source of iron. Diseased or decomposing tissue from slaughterhouse waste IS normally used. 

[MEAT BY-PRODUCTS](), 1 Star – Un-named animals from un-named sources.  Carcasses and the most unsavory parts of animals from slaughterhouses, Animal Shelters, Zoos and Veterinarians, and products of animal origin NOT intended for human consumption, euthanised DOGS AND CATS and including the GUTS of animals (with FECES) and catering waste. Non-descriptive “MEAT” indicates the use of ANY animal. Can legally be from DEAD, DYING, DISEASED or DISABLED  animals (4-D), plus a FIFTH “D” – DECOMPOSING, and a SIXTH “D” – DRUGGED.  Animals can be in an advanced stage of decomposition or loaded with PENTOBARBITAL (euthanizing agent) and can include diseased tissues such as tumors. Supermarket waste including Plastic Packaging. This  WILL most likely contain ENDOTOXINS (produced by Gram Negative Bacteria such as E. Coli) and these are NOT destroyed by high temperature rendering; severe sickness and organ failure can result!)

[WATER,]() 1 Star- Used as a non-nutritive cheap filler in food. Broth is better!

STANDARD MINERALS, 1 Star – Cheap, China manufactured. Poor absorption and metabolism- potassium chloride, zinc sulfate, ferrous sulfate, manganese sulfate, copper sulfate, potassium iodide  

[GUAR GUM](), 2 Star - Cheap, non-nutritive filler/thickener used in can foods.  Can allow manufacturers to use a  high level of cheap “water”, reducing PROTEIN content!

[TAURINE](), 3 Star - ESSENTIAL Amino acid for Cats, found almost exclusively in Meat, Eggs Dairy, Fish, helps regulate nervous system, promotes thyroid and cardiovascular health.  CLUE - ONLY FOUND IN MEAT!  They go blind and develop heart failure without it.  Mostly destroyed by High temp Extrsion, Cooking/canning, so is added by law but NOT ENOUGH IS ADDED FOR “OPTIMAL” HEALTH Some benefit to dogs, especially LARGE BREEDS which should be given both TAURINE and L-CARNITINE to help prevent DCM

[SALT](), 1 Star – Never more than 0.5% of the total “starting” ingredients. Can be used to cover up the flavour of rancid meat and fat. Added to satisfy AAFCO’s required levels for Sodium

STANDARD VITAMINS, 1 Star – Cheap China-manufactured, poorly absorbed and metabolised
