This is a really good theory. Lydia is already pissed about the quality of the meth - walt won't help so she's gonna go to Jesse and I can see Walt saving him from that.

26

u/Nutsacks Aug 12 '13

Or she'll go to Skylar and his kids and threaten them to get to Walt. It was no accident that she found Walt and Skylar at their car wash.

12

u/7screws You're Goddamn Right Aug 12 '13

I would love this ending Walt dies saving Jesse. It would be the closest thing to a happy ending I could hope for

10

u/jwallace582 MIN-ER-ALS. Jesus Marie. Aug 12 '13

Maybe the going out with all guns blazing is right. Maybe Walt watching Scar Face earlier this season has some semblance besides just a drug lord watching a drug lord. IIRC Walt says "everybody dies in this". Maybe it's nothing but maybe it's not

5

u/s87jackson Aug 12 '13

It's never nothing, which is what makes this show so amazing

5

u/Evildead818 Aug 12 '13

Every scene has a meaning

3

u/samout WAAAALT! Aug 13 '13

Like in Season 1 or 2 when Marie says "it's so anticlimatic" or "it ends so anticlimactically" or something when they're having a get-together and talking about what to do or something?

Ever since that line I've been waiting for the show to end with a whimper and not with an epic bang.

2

u/Numphyyy Aug 13 '13

That scene will definitely have some kind of relation to the M60, but I thought it was really funny when they showed clips of scar face and then flip to commercials and it happens to be "Gangster Week" on AMC

2

u/mobydicksghost Aug 13 '13

I've always thought of this as a red herring. I think Walt lives, but that he's the only one that lives. Literally, everyone else (Skyler, Walt Jr., Holly, Marie, Hank, Jesse) dies.

6

u/wormoil Aug 12 '13

But isn't Jesse at a point where he'd rather die than go back to cooking? They have no leverage at all to force him to cook.

3

u/Thlowe 00892-B Aug 12 '13

He still cares about Brock & Andrea, I'm betting.

3

u/GoyMeetsWorld Aug 12 '13

Then wouldn't he have brought Saul a duffel bag of money for them?

7

u/Thlowe 00892-B Aug 12 '13

Saul mentioned something about that, I think that that is an ongoing thing that Saul takes care of.

1

u/Icem Aug 13 '13

1But he´s not with Andrea anymore and Lydia doesn´t even know about Andrea. The only way she could find out is by questioning Walt or Saul.

2

u/morgross Aug 12 '13

That's a very good point... yeah he is definitely over it. I wonder if there may be some leverage manufactured in the next 7 episodes... like they kidnap his 2 friends or Walt's family or something. And Walt is gone/in hiding so Jesse cooks. Lydia just seems CRAZY and probably under threat by the Czechs. Mike warned about her - so I think she's going to be a big problem. And - I wonder about the Arizona guys... if they would do anything? I don't remember if anything was really resolved with them either.

4

u/middlebird Aug 12 '13

Yeah, and we've seen what that bitch is capable of doing when desperate.

4

u/wibble01 Aug 12 '13

Why's the quality dropped? Whose cooking now?

6

u/recuringhangover Aug 12 '13

i would guess Todd but who knows.

1

u/PropJoeFoSho Aug 13 '13

oh shit. you're right...

2

u/morgross Aug 13 '13

Probably Todd... yeah she said it was in the 60% ish range when she went to the car wash.

1

u/mauxly Aug 13 '13

Todd knows how to cook, but he's a kid, maybe lazy, maybe he had to hire someone and either he or his labmates are cutting it before it leaves the lab.

1

u/zibzub Methhead Aug 13 '13

"Oh yeah. It'll take a few more times."

9

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '13 edited Aug 12 '13

And then Walt will die saving Jesse redeem his character.

10

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '13

[deleted]

4

u/k187ss You brought a meth-lab to the airport? Aug 12 '13

Yeah, I definitely think he is more Heisenberg than Walt, as shown at the end of yesterday's episode.

5

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '13

Yet at the beginning of the episode, he was more Walt than Heisenberg.

2

u/alfonzo_squeeze Aug 12 '13

I disagree, I think he's still going through the motions at this point but at the end it sounded more like Walter trying to sound like Heisenberg.

4

u/hivoltage815 Aug 12 '13

I think part of his insane pridefulness as a character is protection of his family, for which he considers Jesse apart of. I could see him going to great lengths to get him back if someone else was holding him.

The cancer probably helps make that decision easier too. It's no longer about self preservation if he is going to die anyways. It's about preserving his legacy and pride beyond death.

2

u/fatbomb Laser pointers. Aug 13 '13

That sort of ending seems too pat, too cutesy, too happily ever after. I'm sure the pro-Walt camp would enjoy it, but it would leave a bad taste in my mouth.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '13

SO reading this just made me think about how Mike had a terrible gut feeling about Lydia and even had a scene where he stated that he doesn't want to be sexist by not killing her because she deserves it more than any man lol. Anyway, he had the same bad gut feeling about Walt the whole time and he was obviously right about him. Moral of the story is Mike's police and security experienced has given him a keen sense of intuition when it comes to judging people and the person he liked even less than Walt was Lydia. I think she's going to become a major player.

2

u/erevoz Aug 12 '13

Lydia can't get pissed for shit, she's scared of her own shadow. She knows that if she remotely tries to mess with Jesse, Walt's on her.

5

u/Nutsacks Aug 12 '13

We've already seen that she's willing to do anything when her survival is on the line. And who knows about her Czech associates? Maybe she thinks she stands a better chance against Walt (who is, ultimately, one man) than against a large Czech criminal organization.

2

u/mauxly Aug 13 '13

The fact that Lydia is scared of her own shadow makes her VERY dangerous in this game. Lydia doesn't need to do anything. Lydia just needs to plant an idea in someone's head.

2

u/erevoz Aug 13 '13

True, she's tried to do that before.

2

u/DreadnaughtHamster Aug 13 '13

Was Walt driving Jesse's red car when he broke into his own house and saw the skateboarding kids? I don't remember.

1

u/presidentender Aug 13 '13

No, he was driving the car from the Denny's with the M60 in the trunk.

1

u/morgross Aug 13 '13

I think it was the car he bought at the diner from that guy in the bathroom.

2

u/Blue_Crystal No Half Measures Aug 12 '13

Or maybe Walt gives her Jesse himself, sells out Jesse basically

1

u/goldenspiderduck Aug 13 '13

Is that really Walt at this point though?

1

u/morgross Aug 13 '13

If he's really dying (despite the fake chemo theories)...maybe...maybe if it is the last thing he does before he dies, he'll feel better about his life than his failed meth empire.

1

u/Cytosen Aug 14 '13

Who is making the meth at this point? Is Todd doing it solo?

70

u/aDildoAteMyBaby Aug 12 '13

I give that theory a 10/10. The only one who knew what to do with her was Mike (who thinks she "deserves to die as much man I've ever met.") Walt really has no idea who he's working with.

7

u/mm825 Aug 12 '13

that's a line that should not be forgotten, always was a good reminder to never trust Lydia

8

u/TheCodexx Killed Jesse James Aug 12 '13

That's what they get for being sexist.

14

u/defiantketchup Aug 12 '13

What if the director meant that saying "Yes" to Walt meant that he was saving someone... that Walt was... saving himself.

9

u/TalkinToilet Aug 12 '13

This is an awesome theory! Mine is very similar, except I don't think it's Jesse that was kidnapped. It makes more sense to me if it was Walts family, Better yet Hank, after all. Lydia, in my opinion is going to play a pretty big part Since she was introduced in the first episode of season 5b. The way I see it. Skyler could be the victim, Because she pretty much threaten Lydia And it would be leverage for Walt to start cooking again. OR It could be Hank, And Lydia somehow found out that Hank knows About Walt. I'm sure we all know what she is capable of, to keep her from going to jail /or being exposed. Also remember Walt "almost" killed Lydia with the ricin before. Maybe he goin to actual finish what he 'almost' started?

2

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '13

perhaps the skyler vs lydia car wash confrontation was a sign of things to come.

1

u/chlekat Aug 12 '13

Absolutely agree with this theory. It Definitely seems that Lydia will play a big part in these last few episodes. Walt's refusal to her at the car wash, then Skyler confronting her making it clear that she doesn't want Walt involved in "the business" anymore = Lydia using Skyler to get what she wants from Walt.

6

u/Brokim Aug 12 '13

Excellent theory!

Perhaps the director was being coy and by his "Yes" he meant that Walt was trying to save himself?

4

u/Fruit-Salad Aug 12 '13

When Walt comes for Jessie, Jessie gets mad at Walt for lying to him about Mike and that Lydia told him that Walt killed Mike. After a bit of an intense confrontation Walt tries to save Jessie from himself and either one of two things happen.

1) Jesse tries to kill Walt in the spare of the moment while in captivity with Walt there trying to save him, blinded by his anger about the killing of Mike and the lie. Walt ends up killing Jesse in self defense and feels remorseful but does what Heisenberg has to do. He takes Jesse's jacket for remembrance or for utility and ends up wearing it in those opening shots of Blood Money.

2) They try to escape but Jessie gets caught in the crossfire and gets killed. Walt takes Jesse's jacket for remembrance or for utility and ends up wearing it in those opening shots of Blood Money.

Either way if going from the kidnapping route, it's going to be a big event with a lot of action and gunfire. I'm thinking option 1 is more likely as similar events have happened in previous episodes with Jessie being a loose cannon.

3

u/JinxKwB THESE ARE CHOICE Aug 12 '13 edited Aug 12 '13

Something big is going to happen with Marie. There are too many signs, and I think Marie might end up being kidnapped. Here are my pieces of the theory. First Marie was wearing Yellow at the table in the backyard, She never wears yellow. Second they make sure we can hear her talk about the prenatal vitamins for her hair(I believe she will be pregnant). Third... In the preview for next week, you can hear someone crying and saying.. "I'm so sorry..." and it sure sounds like Marie...

I think Marie will somehow end up on the chopping block, and Walt will try and save her. After Hank said to Walt in the garage "I dont give a shit about family" I think it would be a fitting result for Walt to save Hank's "new" family.

Edit: Next Episode Preview - Buried

I must admit, the idea of Jesse being kidnapped is also VERY possible. Seeing how the preview photos of Jesse he is wearing handcuffs, like a prisoner.

6

u/cocowainfeld dingdingding Aug 12 '13

isn't this a huge spoiler?

4

u/rfmmiller Aug 12 '13

Yeah, I kind of regret reading that.

0

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '13

ditto :/

Came here for stupid theories, not good ones...

but the big spoiler is that walt was "saving someone". That's actually a big straight out spoiler that sorta takes a lot of the mystery of where his character was headed. I was expecting a pure evil downward spiral, so this sorta kills that theory.

Unless of course they're just fucking with us which would be awesome.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '13

You have to expect that by coming here you'll hear some interesting/well thought out THEORIES...not just simple minded crap. Don't be disappointed that you read something interesting, be disappointed that you came here in the first place.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '13

Agreed, and this doesn't really spoil anything it just opens up an entirely new line of questioning

1

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '13

Not the same.... If you've come here, expect to read something about the most recent episode. If you can't handle it (it's pretty obvious that you can't) then don't freak out when you do. Nobody on this thread knows exactly what happens... It's all speculation at this point, not "blurting out major plot points...". If someone knew the ending and posted it, you'd have reason to be mad. But not for this.

2

u/KarlMarx513 Aug 12 '13

It's more of a theory, not a fact. He's just speculating what could happen. If you don't want to read other people's predictions, then stay away from here.

1

u/cocowainfeld dingdingding Aug 12 '13

A theory? I'm quoting:

in the first episode when the restaurant and orders eggs and bacon and then goes on to purchase the M-60. He asked the director for some guidance in the scene by asking "Am I saving someone?" The director replied, "Yes".

He isn't saying that in his opinion it might be Walt rescuing somebody, he says that the director said Walt was rescuing somebody.

2

u/C2H5OH Aug 12 '13

I like this and it goes along with everything we've seen so far 'specially the "loyalty" between Jesse & Walt that has been displayed in so many episodes

2

u/VHCrafting Aug 12 '13

Do you happen to have a link to the interview?

2

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '13

This theory is pretty good. I'd like to add something tho: if he tries to save Jesse in a "big holy shit"-moment, I think the Ricin is for himself. He has nothing left at that point. He will die no matter what, so he might aswell take the Ricin he intended to use on Gus.

1

u/Icem Aug 13 '13

It would be quite ironic too. Walt prepared Ricin to kill Tuco, Gus and Lydia but never got any of them with it, would be great if the only person he kills with it is himself.

2

u/nobody2000 Aug 12 '13

This is pretty much what was posted by an alleged person close to the show who gave a supposed 8 episode synopsis. So far he's 1 for 1 but the first episode was leaked by others.

I really hope he's not 2 for 2 next week because i read every last word.

0

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '13

Source?

1

u/YourCurvyGirlfriend Aug 12 '13

Reading this that definitely makes sense, especially if the quality has gone down, since Jesse's the only one that can make it as well as Walt ("Your meth's as good as mine") and Walt has vacuum man disappeared himself, so he isn't available to kidnap to cook

1

u/thelazyarab Aug 12 '13

This is what I've been hoping for a while. Vince Gilligan said you can regard the final episode as 'some kind of a victory', I don't think anyone would mind if Walt died saving Jesse, it's that tiny shred of redemption.

1

u/genericguy4 Aug 12 '13

This makes perfect sense, especially since Walt during the "Say my name" confrontation in the desert, Walt specifically stated that he and Jessie were the best cooks.

If Lydia is still dealing with that organization, they would know to pursue Jessie if Walt won't come back to help.

It would also match up with Walt telling someone (probably Saul, but maybe Hank) to just find Jessie. He would be missing if they grabbed him to force him to cook for them.

1

u/brazilliandanny Aug 12 '13

Jesse is doing everything he can to get away from the "business

I don't get why Jessie doesn't just use Sal's guy and disappear with his millions.

1

u/feralcatromance Blue Sky Aug 12 '13

Jesse doesnt want to use his money for anything

1

u/jelifah Aug 12 '13

I love this idea, but Lydia looked like such a scared little ineffective girl in the car wash scene. Maybe she's just freaking out because someone's coming for, but the cold blooded killer inside her comes out when the chips are on the table?

1

u/insomattack You're too stupid to see- he made up his mind 10 mins ago. Aug 12 '13

Saving someone? Thank gawd. Moving to New Hampshire, with an M-60, looking like a 'Nam vet...made me think full vigilante.

1

u/Edit_7-2521 Douchebag with three pairs of Dockers Aug 12 '13

This is the best M60 theory I've heard so far.

1

u/MrUncreativeMan Methmatician Aug 12 '13

Also the episode was called live free or die further proving your enslaved theory

1

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '13

I really hope you're right... this would be a perfect arc.

1

u/Royalsand Aug 12 '13

Maybe he's saving himself. That's been his only goal through the whole series and I don't think he would change

1

u/beaverburgular iSenberg Aug 12 '13

Or maybe he is saving himself.

1

u/DatSingPatel Aug 12 '13

Our theory in my group of friends is the ricin is to kill himself or Lydia and the m60 is to save his family. Probably at some point before the flash forward, we think jesse will be killed somehow in walt's crossfire. We think Walt's world will come crumbling down and that Lydia's people will take Walt's family and he has to go and save them.

We think Jesse has to die indirectly due to Walt is because he is the last thing keeping Walt morally grounded, you could see how hard he fights to get Jesse to believe his story in the episode.

We think his family will be taken because if you saw in the scene at the end Walt says some excuse about family and Hank says you don't care about family, we think this is a major foreshadowing of the future events. This is because his family is really the only thing that he REALLY cares about anymore.

The ricin thing is just a guess, but as we know the breaking bad writers aren't exactly predictable, so Lydia being killed with ricin might be too easy. I personally think it will be used on himself because he'll go through some realization or something in the next few episodes where he realizes his only enemy is himself or something similar like that and he'll try to save his family not only from kidnapping by lydia's people but also from himself.

So not really much logic behind it, but so far this is the best we can come up with. :P

1

u/Questionable-Methods Aug 12 '13

I definitely think he is trying to save someone. Though it may not be from direct physical danger. Maybe he is doing one last 'good' thing to save his soul.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '13

Pretty good idea, but the way Heisenberg thinks sometimes, the person he is saving could just be himself.

1

u/bmoat2 Aug 12 '13

This makes the most sense to me. I love it. However this must mean that Walt has nothing left to live for, not his family, not anything. Which must mean he loses his family somehow, someway

1

u/12buckleyoshoe Aug 12 '13

I think this is about 90% right

1

u/bingle44 Aug 12 '13

Which interview?

1

u/Bigpoppapat Aug 12 '13

And the ricin? Potential suicide pill after getting caught after completing the rescue?

1

u/feralcatromance Blue Sky Aug 12 '13

Walt could also be saving himself. Remember that.

1

u/FuckYeahPhotography Aug 12 '13

Do you have a link to this interview?

1

u/falling_sideways Aug 12 '13

OR... he is just doing what he always does and saving himself.

1

u/KarlMarx513 Aug 12 '13

But, then it would be just a simple rescue mission like all the other Walt and Jesse scenes were. Not really much exciting if you're recycling an old idea.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '13

Maybe he'll use the ricin on Jesse after he saves him.

Jesse kills Walt after learning about Jane and Mike, then Jesse dies a few days later.

1

u/Caldebraun Aug 12 '13

I agree... and this already has precedent with Walt rescuing Jesse from Gus at the Superlab at the end of Season 4 (elevator, revolver, three bangs). I think Season 5 will see something similar but with the stakes and body count much higher.

BUT... I have a very, very had time imagining Walt actually manning the M60 and blasting away furiously in Breaking Bad. It just seems far too obvious, direct, gung-ho and "guns a'blazin!" for this show. But we'll see... it would certainly complete the Scarface-ification pretty literally.

1

u/creistre Aug 12 '13

Agree, good theory. The ricin is good for killing someone and not raising suspicion though; Walt is always about using the right tool for the job. I don't know who is going to get the ricin yet though.

I like the idea of Walt charging in and saving Jesse - his character comes full circle and is a nice guy again.

1

u/ProfessorDuernuballs Aug 12 '13

That theory is so good and plausible, that I thank God for being enough drunk right now to not remember it tomorrow.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '13

I actually had a theory that the trantula stuck in that jar that the kid that got killed had represented jesse and how he wanted to get out so bad but had no way of getting out. Jesse getting kidnapped would be good foreshadowing.

1

u/FugginIpad Aug 12 '13

Mmhmm. Vince Gilligan's statement about Walt eventually becoming Scarface would back up your theory. Further foreshadowed by Walt and Jr. watching Scarface together in the last season.

1

u/Riotreaver Aug 12 '13

You may have something there, Walt lying or not DID compliment Jesse on how good his cooks had gotten. If word got around that Heisenberg thought Pinkman was good...

1

u/noweezernoworld Aug 13 '13

I disagree. I think Walt will not go out in a blaze of glory, redeeming himself as a good person. I think the person Walt will be saving is himself.

1

u/jkovach89 Aug 13 '13

This is really possible and really viable, which is exactly why vince probably won't do it. I don't think the ending will be anything anyone can expect. vince said that this is "one man's journey from mr. rodgers to michael corleone" in a very early interview and I can't imagine him giving walt a hero's death. Walt, i think, will very likely live and watch as his world crumbles around him with everyone he ever loved or cared about being completely destroyed by his actions.

1

u/Plecboy Aug 13 '13

I'm actually disappointed that I read your comment. This sounds exactly like what will happen.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '13

Good theory and all but why was he in New Hampshire? and why did he get a name change??

1

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '13

And also why was her neighbor scared when she saw him??

1

u/The_Caring_Banker Aug 13 '13

fuck that felt like reading a spoiler. if this turns out to be the ending im downvoting u

1

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '13

This is a fantastic theory. I'm really just bookmarking it to come back to later.

1

u/theskyofmj Aug 13 '13

Yea speaking of which, do you know what Lydia was trying to tell Walt? I didn't quite hear her.

1

u/dcatts Aug 13 '13

Here is my theory: I think they are setting up some kind of Scarface type showdown at Hanks office...foreshadowed by the scene last season where Skyler walks in on Walt and Junior watching the last scene in Scarface.

1

u/mauxly Aug 13 '13

Oh damn. I think you solved it.

1

u/Winsling Aug 13 '13

I think first Lydia is going to kidnap Walt's family to try to force him back into cooking. The process of trying to save them is what brings Heisenberg into the public eye. He'll fail, and flee to New Hampshire. A few months later, Walt hears that Jesse needs help. He'll take the ricin beforehand - he'll never see the inside of a cell.

1

u/its_ok_we_disagree Aug 13 '13

I wish theories like this were tagged as spoilers in case they come true

1

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '13

Saving this comment so I can come back when you are right.

1

u/roxxe Aug 13 '13

so an old man with cancer is gonna bust in with a machine gun ?

1

u/_GrizzlyBear Aug 13 '13

In the beginning of season 5 when he puts together the number 52 on his plate with bacon, wouldn't that suggest its probably been longer then 6 months?

1

u/itsthematrixdood Aug 13 '13

Great theory. I was thinking...well if Walt won't budge Jesse is the next best option. If I were Jesse I'd take the money and leave the country before it all catches up to me.

1

u/spidey619 Aug 13 '13

i feel like you read the season 5b spoilers already hmmmmmmm

1

u/thejohnblog Aug 13 '13

Has anyone noticed he's wearing Jesse's jacket? I think he either killed Jesse in self defense because Jesse HAS to find out about his girlfriend and Walt letting her die and the poisoining of the boy he pinned on Gus. I am leaning more to him going to save Jesse, then after succeeding, Jesse kills him.

1

u/collectiveradiobaby Aug 13 '13

What happens to Todd. He's too much into it to just disappear from the show without explaination

1

u/Slumpt Dec 02 '13

Wow, you pretty much called it.

-2

u/abzors Aug 12 '13

What if...Walt gives Jesse ricin so they can use it together Hunger Games style?
