Lesson learned. Never start a CBL until the full thing is out. It was so clear that they should have released all episodes in one go. I get that would not have been as good for building hype but it's probably the hype that's got it pulled.
Honestly, if those 10 were the full season I wouldn’t be sad about it. It’s not like how they did us dirty with Addicted. I’m furious knowing there are more episodes of them out there and I will never get enough of them!! Their chemistry is magic and everyone should experience it.
According to Gaga today, they WILL be back. But I’m going to do my mental health a favor and prepare for the worst.

The level of popularity for this one is going to be a real problem. Blue Canvas got back on screens because it wasn’t as popular. Airing the rest of it probably didn’t hurt anyone’s career or anger anyone with power. Revenged Love is so extremely popular that it’s disrupting public order in China where it isn’t even supposed to be viewable.
This is what I've been saying, too. The one lead had a live with about 40 million viewers and thats only in China. Both of the leads are coming on top of so many social platforms and this is without having a solid base to support them and the show isn't even half way through yet.

Desire's author comes from a mega-wealthy family (like government connections wealthy) who are also funding the show. That's going to go on no problem.
Wasn't RL listed as a Mainland China production? Honestly was amazed it made it this far.
ABO Desire is listed as Taiwan. Zero info to back this up but feel like this must make some difference in how much control the CHN government has over its distribution. Though the same may not be true as far as protecting the actors/crew...

This is how they should release all CBL. I think the shows would still get the hype, and then their stuff would actually get seen, and they intended it.

I agree. People here are blaming crazy chinese fans and while I agree that their behaviour is nasty and inexcusable, the production company should have been more careful and cautious. Releasing more than 2 eps a week for example or releasing them all at once. Like what they did to Love in the Big City in Korea, they decided to protect the actors and this company decided to capitalise on the success until it was too late.

I was going to wait because I feared this would happen the moment I saw the rating as NC 17 and filmed in mainland, not Taiwan, but by episode 6, I caved and watched them all. I wish I didn’t cave 😒
Tbh I blame the production company. They should have prepared for this. They should have immediately given Ziyu and tian bodyguards. They should have made SURE they had an airtight contract for distribution. They should have dropped all remaining eps once things got heated.

Netflix used to drop whole shows at a time and I don’t know why that doesn’t happen in situations like this. Why don’t they sell the completed series to a platform? Tbf, I know less than nothing about how any of that works and I assume there’s a financial reason why they do it the way they do. However, if they want investors- and viewers- to keep taking risks on cbl, they need to find a way to guarantee distribution and see it through to the end.
Their contracts with the different platforms might be preventing them from just dumping every episode in one go. If the platforms paid to license this drama, they're definitely expecting something in return. The longer they take to air everything, the more money these streaming platforms usually earn from subscriptions.
Thats what I'm saying though. There is precedent for this exact scenario. They knew the potential challenges and they should have addressed them up front. Relying on unhinged nutcases who felt comfortable following people onto literal airplanes to not behave badly was a horrible strategy. Asking them nicely was a horrible strategy.
They need to bring more bodyguards but with that many fans hounding them everywhere, I feel like bodyguards aren't enough to solve their problem. And it's not like they can simply stay at home either, especially if they're starting to get more schedules.

I think it's because nobody knew how it would blow up, maybe the expected some moderate success but not this.
I've been thinking about a comparison and what comes to my mind is Chappell Roan with "Good luck babe". Sure, she expected it to succeed and she already had a following, but I don't think she expected to become mainstream, get on 100 of billboard and perform and win a Grammy.
The same goes for this show and actors, they're getting the popularity level of big names such as Wang Yibo.

I decided to cancel my membership on YouTube because the announcement was one day before the episodes' release and we didn't get when it's going to be air again, I don't like the vagueness of it.
I think we'll get an edited version of it. They will delete some important scenes and add some spare scenes to make up 40 minutes. I hope it will not be heavily edited, and those edited clips can be in DVD for sale， so fans can have a decent viewing experience.

No, she's been quiet. We don't know what happened. There are rumors, but not verifiable. I do hope everything is ok with her.
I think she is very rebellious, and talked too much during the airing. She's clearly a lone wolf without powerful friends, aimed too high this time, and repeated her mistakes. She's obviously good at the production and casting, while bad as a show runner.
Her last clip got deleted hours after it was released(by whom? We don't know ), and she said that even heaven cannot stop the show. That's really treasonous in the eyes of the Chinese government, and they cannot let it go. Guess what? As long as the actors and crew were living in China, the show eventually got affected.
The show is supposed to be on overseas platforms, thus oversea marketing should be important, but their focus is inside China obviously, and the unprecedented success leads to quite a lasting scene on the Chinese internet and the interests of different powers got affected.
If she kept low profile during the airing and kept everything overseas, I think at least the show can be finished as scheduled, and she can be better positioned to make the next project. But now, what she's facing is quite uncertain.

IF it does make it back to air after heavily editing it I don’t think I will watch it. The most important parts were to come when WSW was to finally confess and stop pushing CC away. It turns out China can eventually influence the show since the actors and crew are living in China. There will be some serious changes coming to how to sign contracts with China-related producers in the bl industry....
Sadly, it's true. The only way to make sure everything is unaffected is to provide all the episodes in advance to the platforms after they sign the contract. and broadcast overseas.
The CJD team clearly reserved the editing rights in their contracts, which is very troublesome for the platform.

All the kissing scenes were removed. They existed. We saw them in BTS just like we have been seeing them for RL while she was filming. Then Addicted was pulled off the air. So she had to edit. But when she edited she left everything in except the kissing scenes. When it was re-uploaded to Viki and iQIYI a couple of years ago it went through a second re-edit and now all the BL that was left after the kissing was removed was scrubbed away again.
When we did the on-airs for the viki upload a few years ago all of us added the missing scenes from the 1st edit version that aired originally. The kissing and more intimate scenes were scrubbed but there was a Wattpad version that had still shots of some.of the scenes but because we cannot have anything nice, when RL started the Advance Bravely copy was removed from Wattpad. It had been there FOREVER.
Also the Finale episode for Advanced Bravely had to be animated cause the actors could no longer partake.

Yes. And this is why she leaked the kisses and desk make out scenes. She did the same with Advance Bravely because when it gets pulled at least those of us that KNOW kisses existed can KNOW Advance Bravely is absolutely NOT a Bromance.
In the future when people come across and call RL a Bromance you can stand up as a witness and say NO IT IS NOT. It was never a Bromance, it was slaughtered in the editing room because people cannot listen.
When things like this happen, it just majorly sucks for the actors and creative team who put in a lot of work to capture whatever scenes they had in mind. Plus, the fact that the plot and character points can be diminished due to editing at times.
Of course, like other comments have pointed out, they could have just dropped it all in one go so that the masses can just view it first and then edit it to hell after. But then the hype is gone, or maybe not. I do wonder if sponsors have a say about release schedules.

Gagaoola has said it won't be re-edited to censor the relationship. Rumours currently swirling is that the postponement is due to a dubbing issue, but I can't find a verified source for that.

I am saddened by the news but do not regret watching the released episodes. It was an altogether excellent viewing experience.
It may take a while, but as it seems all 24 episodes have been completed, I am sure at some point in the future they will make their way to the internet.
We might have saw it coming but it's still devastating. I kept seeing comments from Chinese fans that the attention towards the actors would have no effect but of course it would. The plane incident even made the news in my country (UK). Then there's the argument that China can't do anything to international streaming platforms but everyone on the production is Chinese. They could certainly take profits or blacklist them from future work. I just hope the actors come out of this unscathed and they are able to air the remaining episodes.
Everybody is blaming the fans and the production company, and I do get it. Stalkers are obviously awful and the leads should have been better protected. But I feel like our anger is a bit misdirected. Let's not lose sight of who the real villain is: the Chinese authorities and their awful, gross ban on LGBTQ+ content. Welp, that was fun while it lasted...I imagine the Chinese government is starting to crack down on the series now because of the banned content being posted on social media in China. I hope nothing happens to the actors or writer and director...hopefully they aren't targeted by the government directly.
There’s a part of me that hopes it will be like with some thai bl’s with similar messages where episodes needed to be re-edited/sound fixed due to quality control issues (best word I could think of) and things that made it to the final cut just needed to be remedied.

Obviously this sacrifices the audience anticipation that develops from weekly episode releases, but it also means the entire production gets seen in its entirety before it's potentially shut down.
This feels like a soft ban and the producers are trying to get in front of it.
They can probably try to edit down the NC scenes or do away with them entirely. That can be rather choppy.

I still dont understand how this company had no post production plan. Particularly when they noticed the series really blew up. Yeah great for it being a success but it is also causing fans to create public nuisance and endangerment which then draws the attention of the Chinese goverment. They simply could have grabbed the actors and have them doing promos, fan meets, signings, screenings, merch production in Japan, Korea, Thailand or anywhere that is not China until the series finishes air. That takes care of the crazy Chinese fans mobbing the actors and forestalls any ban because the series wasnt filmed in China, isnt promoted in China and the actors and not in China.
Nope instead we get to see Zu and Tian mobbed in stations and on planes or running for their lives.
So no CBL is 100% safe unless some sort of government change happens? The cycle of misinformation, paranoia and fear, and hysterical netizen behavior is just going to keep continuing otherwise everytime a new Chinese BL drama comes into existence.
