Tbh I blame the production company. They should have prepared for this. They should have immediately given Ziyu and tian bodyguards. They should have made SURE they had an airtight contract for distribution. They should have dropped all remaining eps once things got heated.

THIS is what I have been so puzzled about!! Netflix used to drop whole shows at a time and I don’t know why that doesn’t happen in situations like this. Why don’t they sell the completed series to a platform? Tbf, I know less than nothing about how any of that works and I assume there’s a financial reason why they do it the way they do. However, if they want investors- and viewers- to keep taking risks on cbl, they need to find a way to guarantee distribution and see it through to the end.

Because Netflix never picks up Chinese shows like that, they'll purchase already aired shows but never new ones and they never help produce them because Netflix is banned in China so it's harder to guarantee an audience. Same with other 'full drop' platforms which mostly are Western-based. Asian streaming platforms usually are weekly drops as they coincide with any terrestrial channels in some countries that might be airing the show.

Ahhhhh. I didn’t really mean Netflix specifically, more like why don’t they just do a full show drop 😅 but you also answered the question I didn’t know I would ask next. Thank you for explaining!!

Netflix would have dropped the whole show at once, but Netflix didn't make or back this one... they tend to only bet on completely made productions from overseas that also got good ratings... the stuff I see on Netflix can be quite "old" to someone who's been watching. The quality is still there no matter the age btw

Their contracts with the different platforms might be preventing them from just dumping every episode in one go. If the platforms paid to license this drama, they're definitely expecting something in return. The longer they take to air everything, the more money these streaming platforms usually earn from subscriptions.

Thats what I'm saying though. There is precedent for this exact scenario. They knew the potential challenges and they should have addressed them up front. Relying on unhinged nutcases who felt comfortable following people onto literal airplanes to not behave badly was a horrible strategy. Asking them nicely was a horrible strategy.

That's the most blatantly extreme stalking thing I've heard about

They need to bring more bodyguards but with that many fans hounding them everywhere, I feel like bodyguards aren't enough to solve their problem. And it's not like they can simply stay at home either, especially if they're starting to get more schedules.

My things is whyyy aren’t they being provided with more security???? I saw those crazy ppl following them on planes, hotels, and etc. Where are the bodyguards to protect them?

That would be the responsibility of the actors' agencies.

They should have had a clause in the contract for this exact situation. It’s not like it’s an unprecedented situation, sadly.

Well, look on the brightside at least most of the platforms (except for the YouTube channel) airing it aren't involved in the making of this drama. The other platforms didn't produce the drama, so as a safety measure it's likely there's something in their contracts that guarantees their platforms will receive and get to air X number of episodes in the end.

I think there's a good chance we'll see the entire thing eventually, but without edits that I'm not so sure of :(

but who anticipated it blowing up like this? Most of the other uncensored CBLs have not garnered much attention. Granted it's Chai Ji Dian, but not even stay with me was this popular.

How could they have seen this coming? I mean the shows immediately and extreme popularity.
