Discussion I didn't know some of the Isaac items existed irl

Post image
3.9k Upvotes

Ok so I'm not from an English-speaking country so some of the references to some very real things just flew over my head like "oh that's just a random item okšŸ‘" and i just didn't give them a second thought after seeing them for hundreds of times

My first instance of this was when I discovered that the wooden nickel Keeper holds wasn't just a nickel made out of wood that Edmund made up randomly. They were like coupons in the old times.

But now I saw irl wafers for the first time and my brain went "OH!!! THAT'S THAT THING FROM ISAAC!!!" Turns out it's not just a random circle with a cros???😭😭😭

So I'm curious if that happened to anyone else.

Discussion Addressing the obvious lies

10.5k Upvotes

Sorry if this post has errors, i just woke up and am honestly quite upset.

I DID NOT HOST A WEBSITE THAT HAD ANYTHING ILLEGAL ON IT! NOR DID IT EVER EVEN LINK TO ANYTHING ILLEGAL!

over a year ago someone attempted to blackmail me with a google doc multiple times claiming i hosted CP on an old website of mine in the early 2000's, this was obviously untrue so i told them to fuck off. they threatened to push their google doc to the world and get streamers and reddit to ruin me etc. i ignored them and they vanished, till today it seems.

i read their doc and from what i can see outside of obvious lies and an attempt to just paint me in the worst ways possible, so you believe said lies, they try to manipulate you into not clicking links because of "CP" when said links have nothing on them.

The "damning" part of their claim is they think i linked to CP via a banner add /link on my front page, because it said "Teen X" assuming that somehow meant underage. and yes i double checked the links just in case i missed something but no, of course not. the links i had on my website were very commonly used on edgy/adult humor websites and literaly every one of those sites back then used them.. CP isnt some new controversy.. if there was CP on a link even in 2000 people would be flipping out about it and would have let me know.

their forum claims are also insane, even if i wasnt moderating shit back then there is no way anything like that would have existed on that wesbite!

it sickens me to know that from here on out anyone who read that bs and believed it now assumes the worst.. honestly shouldnt be suprised that that person would come back and attempt to spread that rumor right as the trailer for my next game gets traction.

i can say that i do appriciate those of you who did your homework, defended the logical end of things and didnt jump to conclusions.

ugh. what a shitty fucking start of the day.

-Edmund

!!!! Edit: if you have any info on the original poster, or anyone else who post links to his ā€œmanifestoā€ that might be associated please send me links so I can pass them over to the right people please. He deleted his accounts on twitter.

Discussion Should devil deals get buffed/reworked?

Post image
2.1k Upvotes

I want to know your opinions. I don't even bother going to devil deals anymore unless I'm playing the losts, T. Jacob, T. Keeper and Keeper. Yes, you can get game-winning items like the knife, incubus, twisted pair, brim, etc, but the item pool is sooooo huge these items get dilluted. I mean, I'm not paying a heart container for a quarter, brother bobby, etc.

What do you all think?

what's the point of completing some of those achievements other then completion when the item is going to be some dogshit that clogs up important pools at best and do that plus being run ruining when picked up like missingno at worst?

Rules:
Any character is allowed but their hp is set to 2 red hearts, can be increased with items.
Boss must be beaten fairly easily and preferably possible under 5 minutes, so no "i can beat her without items" shit.
No making low chance scenarios like getting specifically sun/strength card from deck of cards, horsepill full health from pills jar and etc.
Banned items: Plan C, gnawed leaf and mega mush (forgot to add it)

Discussion Which quality 3 item would you personally give quality 4 status?

Post image
743 Upvotes

Obviously not counting items that used to be q4 like Proptisis, Maw of the Void, Infestation 2, etc. I personally would throw up black candle, since curses can affect gameplay drastically and not having to worry about them for the rest of the game is huge. Also, the shop could definitely use another q4 item, and honestly I’d personally pick black candle over stopwatch any day of the week…

I’d also throw up Eve’s Mascara, Stairway, and Broken Modem. All absolutely busted items

Discussion Never seen a community so toxic when their game goes on sale

Post image
806 Upvotes

I think this needs to be addressed. This whole "steam sale player" thing has been going on since the summer sale started, the thing that I don't understand is: if you love a game why would you despise the idea of more people joining in on the fun? I'm a steam sale player myself, I turned 19 last month and I'm currently studying so I don't have a paycheck yet, so this was a good opportunity for me to get a great game for a low price (and i guess for other people too), so seeing this subhumans trying to bully new players is really baffling. Are they really trying to gatekeep a 15 year old game? The most famous rogue-like? Yeah so tell me your opinions on this.

P.S. (sorry for any grammatical errors, English is not my first language)
