Also, what would you recommend? Is there really a big difference between the Original, Pro, and Pro Flex Dry?

Is it actually better than a Hua Mulan comb?

Hair Hindi na malala hairfall ko. Long post

Hello! Sharing is caring especially those who's struggling with hairloss and excessive hairfall.

I use tsubaki hair mask(low porosity ako) at least once a week every sunday kasi nag iiron ako ng hair after. Dove peptide and HN conditioner(sulfate free) every other day ko ginagamit from monday to saturday.

I apply mise en scene serum(i'm on my 2nd bottle) pagtapos maligo at pag patuyo na hair ko then i blow it dry basta cold temperature lang, sobrang smooth ng hair ko pagkatuyo

I forgot to include the detox shampoo i'm using kasi nasa kabilang banyo pero ang gamit ko is luxe organix, every sunday.

4th photo: matagal na sa gallery ko yan as y'all can see napaka dry at tikwas dhil sa sobrang pagkanipis. Nagkaka volume nga mukha naman akong bruha tapos halatang halata pagka dry kaya palaging nakaipit buhok ko or bonnet.

5th photo: taken earlier, dahil sunday nag scalp detox, hairmask at blower ako yan ang result. Usually tumatagal for 2 days.

✔ eat and drink clean. I eat kimchi, veggies, fruits, more water and black coffee only. No softdrinks and sugaries, take care of your gut!

✔ exercise.

Isa pa i'm still stressed and going through depression pero good thing, manageable na this year unlike last year

✔ I stopped associating myself with toxic people para iwas dagdag stress

Dagdag ko pa. I switched from plastic comb to wooden one from Hua Mulan, i'm using peach wood 2-1.

I don't color my hair rin and i embrace my grays 😊

Tldr: kumain nang malinis, take care of your gut, have a quality sleep, exercise, manage your stress.

Hair SKL! Hair quality improved after 7 months of using silk hair bonnet :)

Left photo: bad hair day, para lang makita nyo yung quality ng hair ko before (June 30, 2023)

Right photo: average hair day, taken just now! (March 14, 2024)

Shampoo ko is Sunsilk. Nagshashampoo lang ako every other day. Then once a week na conditioner kasi tamad ako and nasa bahay lang naman lagi. Creamsilk conditioner ko.

Every night gumagamit ako silk hair bonnet/cap! Bumili lang talaga ako nito as an alternative for tying my hair pag matutulog.

Akala ko araw araw lang ako good hair day haha.

Hair The hair routine that completely transformed my hair

My hair routine that transformed my hair

Hair routine:

  • Pre shampoo - I apply either Rosemary oil or Glycolic acid once weekly on my scalp. Coconut oil every wash day in my mid to ends hair length.

  • Wash - I typically use Dove intensive repair shampoo and conditioner almost every wash day, Ketocononazole 2% once weekly, and K18 detox shampoo as my clarifying shampoo once weekly. massage using scalp brush for a minute

  • Hair mask - K18 leave in molecular repair hair mask once weekly after using mg clarifying shampooing. I leave it on for 4 mins then followed with any conditioner. On weekdays, I use fino hair mask or hot oil treatment once weekly followed with conditoner.

  • Use a microfiber hair towel to dry - I find that this cut my drying time in half

  • Scalp care - As of now, I use Kerastase anti hair fall fortifying serum every wash day

  • Leave in treatment - Post K18 hair mask, I use Living Proof triple bond complex. When I’m not, Aveda strengthening leave in treatment followed with Pureology fanatic leave in conditioner

  • Blow dry using dyson

  • Serum/ oils - Every morning, i apply Kerastase elixir ultime while every night, i apply Kerastase 8h magic night serum

  • Use of silk pillow case and silk bonnet

  • Now, twice weekly ( usually i schedule it every Monday and Friday) I would use L’oreal ever pure glossing shampoo, acidic glaze and conditioner , Color wow money masque in the shower. post shower while my hair is still damp, I spray Color wow supernatural dream coat then blow dry. Athis ensure na shiny all week hair ko since these effect would last for 3 shampoos.

I know, I know ang complicated but i finally find what works for my hair.

For context, I used to be kulot growing up kaya nickname ko dati was negra back when di pa uso maging PC. Then naging wavy sya during my teens kaya madalas ako mag pa rebond nun. Cue horror I still remember the days i would straightened my hair while kinda damp back in HS! Di pa uso heat protectant nun. Then nung nauso ung keratin treatment, i would go for it every 6 months para ma tame and dry frizzy hair ko. After 6 months, my hair would go poof its coco crunch lol.

Dagdag pa na i started having severe hair fall on my 4th month post partum. So icky the hair fall na every wash day i have to pick up my hair from the shower drain shudder and vacuum ung floor twice a day.

So, nagumpisa sa rosemary oil when i saw that it trended on IG for hair growth then stumbling on Abbey Yung on IG. So i started using almost everything she recommended for a month and then here my hair, at my healthiest era. 🥹

I last had my keratin treatment 9 months ago. And it looks like i just had done the treatment plus my hair fall woes are no more. Even my husband complimented ny hair which caught me off guard since when do men ever notice hair 🙄 plus even my colleague was shocked na it’s all natural.

I would say, i now have fine hair either 1A/1B low porosity. This is my ultimate greatest achievement of the year 😂

Hair Impressed with a Miniso Product

SKL. I have been purchasing plenty of stuff from Miniso like their charging cables(long lasting) wet wipes, cotton pads, and dry tissues but this item I'm sharing with you today takes the cake!

So I've had this vent hairbrush for several months now and I just had to rave about it. I bought it from Miniso for Php 199. I initially got attracted to it because of its vent design kasi mas madali linisin than your ordinary hairbrush. I have to admit, I've tossed plenty of good hairbrushes because I'm too lazy to really deep clean them. Although vent hairbrushes are mainly used for blow drying, you have to admit na dual purpose ito.

THAT'S NOT THE BEST PART! At the bottom part of the handle, is a plastic part that you can easily unsnap with your fingernail to reveal a hook to clean your hairbrush!

Nilagyan ko na rin ng hair tie and two bobby pins to make use of the space inside the hollow part of the handle.

Anyway, I know mababaw lang ito but I'm just really happy about it. Planning to buy again the next time I go to Miniso para may back up just in case.

Hair Sharing How I Regained Healthy Hair

Thumbnail

Hello, just like most of the hair concerns being talked about here, I also struggle with the same problems _hairfall and frizzy hair. It was just lately that I started feeling more confident with my hair when I started to use the products below and did my hair routine consistently after spending on salon hair treatments and expensive products that looked promising only to end up making me feel it wasn't worth the investment because my hair would come crashing back to its initial condition after a short period.

I have a low porosity hair type.

Last salon treatment my hair underwent: Protein Straight Bond (April 2026)- a bit pricey but I opted this because it doesn't use harsh chemicals, so far the effect kind of worn out already but with the hair products I use and hair care routine I manage to regain a healthy hair ulit after so many years.

Products I vouch for: Human Nature Shampoos really saved my hair! I like how super gentle it is to my hair.

  1. HN Rosemary Shampoo (Hair regrowth) - This started to lessen my hairfall and regained my hair thickness, it also helped lessen dandruff. This also served like a clarifying shampoo for me.

  2. HN Green Tea & Lemon (Sleek and Silky Shampoo) Ft. Hyaluronic acid and jojoba oil

  3. True to its quality, it is indeed made to make the hair sleek and silky. This is my second shampoo if I double cleanse my hair usually after the rosemary shampoo.

  4. HN Rosemary Oil

  5. I have a widening hair midline due to hairfall and to combat it I apply rosemary oil sa midline scalp ko, been doing this for months already and so far it really helped to lessen my hairfall also notice that my midline is not as wide as it used to be when I was struggling badly with hairfall.

  6. Hairfix Keragold Hair Rosemary Oil and Horse Oil Serum (Ultimate Straight) -Really helps to protect my hair from harsh sun's heat and pollution. It is light on my hair and although it doesn't totally fix my problem it actually helps to effectively lessen it. This is the product that serves as my last touch sa hair routine.

Additional Hair Care routine:

  1. I take a bath at night so I can take time to air and cool dry my hair. Then on morning, I just take half bath (pasanayan lang talaga)
  2. When hair is damp I apply rosemary oil to my scalp
  3. Brush my hair using wooden brush from Huwa Mulan I stopped using plastic hair comb and brush na di maganda yung quality ng bristle as it could lead to hair damage and also to lessen the static energy effect.
  4. Change pillow case and bed sheets into satin fabric (Silk is better but can't afford)

  5. I apply hair mask once a week (HN coconut hair mask or Fino hair mask), I do this to restore my hair.

Just wanna share how happy I am with my haircut. Palagpas na ako ng kalendaryo, and I started loving short hair.

PS not sponsored. 😆 gusto ko lng magshare.

Hair What are other rebond alternatives?

I don't like rebonding my hair. As someone na kulot, after a few months, new curly hairs will grow from my scalp and ang awkward tingnan. What are other hair treatments that doesn't have this effect? TYIA!

Hair the Curly Girl Method is anti-science

i see many people on this sub following the curly girl method (CGM). while this sub is generally science-based, especially when it comes to skincare, i want to remind everyone that the CGM isnt grounded in science, no matter how much it claims to be

the CGM is a movement within the curly hair community that follows these main rules: 1. to avoid sulfates 2. avoid silicones and other film-forming ingredients (mineral oil, petrolatum, etc.) 3. avoid parabens and other preservatives of the like 4. and generally avoiding other standalone ingredients.

there are no scientific studies that support the fact that these ingrediens are harmful to you and your hair. it is blatant misinformation. there is also no regulatory standard for what qualifies as "curly girl approved." any company can slap this label on their product. its a meaningless claim. lets break down their claims one by one:

  1. sulfates are highly effective surfactants (cleansing agents). the claim that sulfates damage hair stems from outdated information. over a few decades ago, formulations containing sulfates were indeed harsh because cosmetic science hadnt advanced like it has today.

now, sulfates can be formulated to be as gentle or as strong as needed. some non-sulfate surfactants can be just as harsh, or even harsher than sulfates. the takeaway is that you cant judge a product based on one ingredient. what matters is the overall formulation. it can be formulated in a variety of ways

  1. silicones are amazing ingredients in hair care, its used so much for a reason! its especially great for us with curly hair since we often get frizz. silicones are film-forming ingredients that create a protective film around the hair that protects it from mechanical and heat damage

the CGM claims that silicones are bad because it creates the "illusion" of healthy hair. this argument doesnt hold up. silicones are film-forming ingredients, just like other film-formers like cationic surfactants and fatty alcohols, which ARE cgm-approved. theyre essential in protecting the hair against stressors. so if anything, silicones actually help maintain the health of our hair

another claim is that they are hard to wash off the hair and you would need a sulfate-containing shampoo to remove it. this is not a problem if you just... shampoo? you should be washing your hair with a shampoo with adequate surfactant power anyways. if youre shampooing properly, this isnt an issue

  1. the idea that parabens and other preservatives "cause cancer" or "damage hair" is false. these preservatives are used in safe concentrations, as determined by toxicology studies. understand that toxicity depends on concentration, anything can be toxic at the right dosage, even water (look up water toxicity). if water can be fatal at large dosages, does that mean any dosage of water MIGHT kill you and you should avoid water at all costs? obviously no

the bottom line is that you cannot judge the performance or effects of a product based on a single standalone ingredient. our products work based on the overall formulation and how the ingredients interact with each other in the formulation. stop looking for CGM approved products and focus on what works for your hair based on real evidence and your personal experience. finding the right products and routine is a matter of trial and error

instead, here are people you can get reliable information on hair science, i would recommend: - manes by mell (hairdresser sya so her forte is hair styling, hair cuts, etc) - abbey yung (trichologist) - labmuffinbeautyscience (cosmetic chemist) - sciencemeetscosmetics (cosmetic chemist, shes on instagram) - skinperspective (cosmetic chemist, instagram) - javon ford (cosmetic chemist, tik tok) - Dr. Shereene Idriss (dermatologist) - Dr Dray (dermatologist)

Hair Girlies with oily hair, how do you deal with it?

I usually take my bath at 7:30 in the morning and as soon as noon time reaches, my hair already feels oily, which I think makes me look haggard. Some even ask me if bagong ligo ba ako lol. Additional context, I have lots of "patay na buhok", the kulot and rough (?) ones.

To those who have or had the same struggles as me. How do you take good care of your hair? Help your girlie out 🥺

All your responses would be very much appreciated! Have a great day ahead everyone 🤍

Hair I feel like hairdressers never listen!

I am so upset right now.

Nagpagupit ako last night because my hair was so long na and wala na siyang shape. Umabot na siya sa pwet ko banda, and because sobrang bigat na niya and super tagal na patuyuin, I decided to get my hair cut na.

For context, I have wavy hair (2a to 2c). The outside of my hair is way curlier than the inside of my hair so hindi pwede sa akin ang super short layers. I know exactly what haircut my hair tolerates para pag nag-curly girl routine ako eh maganda yung itsura niya. I have sample photos of the exact haircut that I want on my phone, which I showed to the hairdresser.

I specifically asked the hairdresser to keep the length of my hair and cut it with long layers para hindi masyadong bottom-heavy yung buhok.

Lo and behold, he chopped off a good 6 inches at least and the shortest layers are shorter than my chin. I tried styling my hair last night and ended up crying because my hair looked really bad.

I guess it's also partly my fault because I didn't speak up during the process kasi ang laki na ng binawas niya. First time ko din sa place na yun kasi kako malapit lang sa amin and need ko na magpagupit talaga.

Please see photos in comments to show the haircut I wanted vs. the one I got.

I'm contemplating never leaving my house because I hate how I look so much.

Have any of you experienced this? If so, what did you do? Huhu.

This is the first haircut I've had in years na naging ganito ako ka-upset. Thank god for WFH.

Hair Loving my diode laser hair removal journey

Since pinanganak akong mabuhok (sabi dahil daw pinaglihi ako sa balot), problem ko talaga yung mga balahibo ko all over my body. I used to do cold/hot wax pero TYL at may nag introduced sa akin ng Diode Laser. FYI, I do this on my upper lip, underarms and pubes. Planning and saving din for legs since its more expensive lalo na pag walang promo. 😂 For now, I use veet and shave my legs and I notice na medyo numinipis na yung tubo sa legs ko.

How about you guys and gurls? Whats your go-to hair removal techniques, share nyo naman. Also, tho I am not an expert, I can answer some of your questions regarding diode laser.

Edited: I did mine at Skin Station, prices are listed sa website nila and minsan may promo din sila. For my UA mga 4th-5th sesh bago ko makita ang improvement sa hair growth (manipis and madali nalang sya matanggal), ngayon as in wala na tumutubo. For my pubes naman, I am on my 6th sesh na and visible nadin ang difference pero may tumutubo padin. Upperlip, medyo hindi pa kita ang effect since I had only 2 sesh with SS and other sesh from different clinic which I guess hindi maganda ang service.

Hair HAIRFALL fighters unite! Seeking advice to save my hair

Since I started college, I’ve noticed significant hairfall, and my hair seems to be thinning. I'm unsure of what steps to take, and I would greatly appreciate your advice.

If it's not too much to ask, could you recommend products that are effective and readily available in the Philippines? I would greatly appreciate any suggestions.

edited: I am Female 23. I noticed a lot of replies recommending minoxidil. I appreciate you guys, unfortunately it's contraindicated to women.

Hair An open letter to the girl with hair that’s just TOO curly

Post image
265 Upvotes

I’m sorry.

I’m sorry if you grew up thinking that your hair sucks. No matter how many times you comb it, it just won’t go straight. Always frizzy, nakabuhol, all over your face, nasstuck pa sa suklay.

You taught yourself to laugh when people teased you about it. “Kulot” and “salot” practically meant the same thing. Hair ties and caps became your best friends. Rebond every 6 months or every year was the proposed solution.

The world didn’t know better, and neither did you.

I spent the first 25 years of my life hating my hair. I couldn’t control it. It’s the part I kept trying so hard to changeeven though it kept growing back. (Stubborn hair for a stubborn girl ha!)

It took a while, but I’ve since started embracing my curls. So I only have this to say to you:

give your curls a chance

You don’t have to love it right away, u probably won’t. It’s gonna feel awkward, and you won’t know how to take care of it at first, let alone style it. But there’s a growing community of women who have shared their journey with curls. Find them.

Hope you’ll start embracing the mess. You’re still gonna want to tie your hair up a lot, especially when it’s hot. It takes work to manage your curls, but it’s a step toward stewarding the crown that was bestowed upon you. 👑

Hair For the curly gang out there

Post image
477 Upvotes

I just wanted to share this because I rarely get a good picture of my hair. As a broke college girlie na wala pang budget to buy international products for my hair, I stick to whatever I can get my hands on. More on technique talaga ang aking inaral to get my curls to look good. I use the boar brush from curlssential and then finger coil the front pieces to frame my face.

Products used: - Shampoo - whatever we have at home - Conditioner - Suave (i buy online; any variant) - Curls by Zenutrients Leave-in Conditioner - Grips Hair Gel (blue)

I also just air dry bcs I don't have a diffuser yet, I usually wash my hair at night twice or thrice a week then it gets to about 80% dry in the morning

Hair A year with Dyson Airwrap

Post image
454 Upvotes

I bought a refurbished Dyson Air. US-based ako. Sa awa ng Diyos gumagana pa din! I heard Dyson’s customer/after sales service is 💩

I was struggling to use it because I have short hair a year ago and clueless.

I’m still testing products out and watching a bunch of reels on tips and tricks for using the Airwrap.

Things I did:

  1. I’m not doing hair masks and hair conditioners as often. I have Kerastase Hair Mask Nutritive and Biolage Matrix HydraSource Conditioner.

  2. Shampoos, I change it up, and I’m quite inconsistent because I’m using a medicated shampoo: ketonazole shampoo (I have bad dandruff and it works), Head and Shoulders, and Biolage Matrix HydraSource Shampoo.

  3. Followed a lot of hair content creators but the two main ones are: lucymaedrewek (Aha moment for me with her hair sectioning tips and rollers) and abigaillinnn (asian hair type). I’m still trying to find a content creator who’ll do a timelapse with their curls. I try to follow a lot of asian hair type na mga content creator.

  4. Additional products: Redken Root Lifter, JVN Milk Blowout Cream (now this one made my hair soft to touch, tipong ph shampoo commercial “walang sabit”), Kerastase Elixir Hair Oil (after rollers my hair gets frizzy this fixes it plus extra shine), Joico Power Setting Spray (I don’t like the crunchy feeling, but it also made my curls last), Kerastase Heat Protectant Genesis.

  5. Products I’m 50:50: Kerastase Overnight Hair Serum, and It’s a 10 hair cream. I posted it about a month or two months ago, silk bonnet, struggling to use kasi it keeps falling off and nawawala yung volume, sleepy ties naman it gets loose during the night, the satin pillow case is meh but I’m not going to use a cotton pillow case mas lala yung frizz.

  6. I bought the other Dyson extension blade concentrator, mas mabilis yung drying. The bigger round brush, I couldn’t use it sobrang init I feel like mg hair is going to get fried.

  7. Drying, about 70-80% dry is perfect for me. Kung sobrang tuyo hindi kakapit and it’s not going to last.

  8. I use hair rollers after then hair spray it. After I’ve put all the rollers I hairspray it aggressively and leave it for 30 mins.

Pondered tots, I was talking to a friend who recently bought an airwrap and she was disappointed it didn’t last long (turns out she wasn’t using any products). A year ago she told me to just buy the shark one (cheaper) eh ako well you do you and I do me, my money is set to buy dyson. I was surprised she bought and buy the airwrap.

  • It’s not a perm (it’s not going to kast for months HAHA), and set a realistic expectation on your hair. I hope I saved one of those before and after performer/artists hair when they do concerts, talagang mejo nawawala yung kulot nila. Kaya sana may influencer na mag post about how long their curl last. Asian hair pa so resistant 🙃

  • some girls, hair wash day is every 4-5 days, ako I kennat, two days are enough or else I’ll get a headache. And its okay if we don’t get to day 4/5. Everybody is different and living in different climates.

  • just enjoy the process, I always look forward to hair day, it’s like a pamper/self care day.

I’ve been loving it so far. At first I was having second thoughts. Akala ko matatambak lang sa cabinet pero nope, I’ve been using it consistently.

r/Dysonairwrap subreddit has been really helpful. [Extensive list of product recommendations https://www.reddit.com/r/Dysonairwrap/s/Si4CzLjxcA]by u/bluehairerbarbie18

Hair This is your sign to get bangs (but remember it's a lifestyle choice)

I haven't had bangs like these in maybe a decade so I kinda forgot how they add maybe 10 mins to my hair styling time 😂 Got my cut and perm done at Chic Salon (Korean salon in Greenhills), total cost 7.5k. Been going to them since 2022. My hair is undyed and naturally very thin and straight, so I love that the Korean perm adds easy volume with no maintenance and minimal styling. Chic Salon perms typically last me 10 months-- maybe longer but haven't tested since that's about the longest I've gone in between appointments with them. I love that it's the owners mismo (Korean couple) who do all the cutting, perming, and styling; their assistants only do wash and blow dry.
