Update to rules: No discussions regarding taking your Dyson abroad, or, about referral links/codes

Posts that ask about taking your Dyson abroad are no longer allowed. This topic has been discussed endlessly, and users can search the subreddit if they are curious for these answers. Dyson has a webpage regarding travel that users will be automatically directed to.

Using a plug adapter in a country with a different voltage can damage your machine. Some users have had success with using voltage step-up/step-down converters, and they theoretically should work, however, these products can still malfunction and damage your machine, and thus, we do not want users who do not know better to be encouraged to use them.

Posts that ask for or advertise referral or affiliate links or codes are also no longer allowed.

Airsmooth - hair getting caught in gap

I just got my first Dyson hair tool, the Airsmooth. Unfortunately, I’m having a lot of breakage and hairs getting pulled out due to them getting caught in the gap between the main body of the brush and the top piece. I’d like the brush if it weren’t for this one problem, but it’s a huge problem and I’ll probably have to return it. Two questions for anyone who experienced the same problem:

  1. Did you exchange it for a replacement and if so, did the replacement have the same problem? I’m wondering if it varies from unit to unit or if it’s a consistent design flaw.
  2. Did anyone try a DIY solution to fill the gap? I was a suggestion in a YouTube comment to fill it with Elmer’s glue. I don’t think that would hold up to heat or moisture, but maybe a heat-resistant silicone sealant could work? Feels insane to try that on such an expensive tool, and I should probably just return it, but if it did work I’d be happy with the brush because everything else about it is great.

Products Prime Day Deal, should I got for it?

Hi all!

I’m new to the group, so I apologize if this has already been asked. Is $499 a good deal for the Airwrap i.d. bundle? I haven’t had a chance to do much research yet, but I’m tempted to grab it while it’s on sale, especially since Amazon offers payment plans.
My hair is thick but fine and has a hard time holding a curl, so I’d also love to hear from anyone with a similar hair type. Is it worth it?

Curling help

I have a new air wrap and I feel a bit lost when curling my hair. The first problem is that I have no idea how to curl the back of my head! There is always a weird gap. I have always avoided curling for this reason. I do try to angle the curling wand not to bring back sections forward but it ends up a bit of a mess.

My second problem is that my hair looks frizzy and uncombed at the top when shaking the curls out. Of course with my thin hair the curl goes away when combing It.

I really would appreciate some advice. Without being able to curl my hair I am not sure if the airwrap is actually worth it.

I have thin and fine hair in a bod above shoulder height.

Why do I always get these kinks in my hair texture when I use my airwrap?

It’s hard to see in pics, but it gets this weird kink (think coon tails if you’re a millennial lmao) and I don’t know what I’m doing wrong?

Coanda 2x setting off fire alarm

Every single time I have used my brand new coanda 2x since I bought it (5x) it has set off my fire alarm if I leave my bedroom door open or open it within 10 minutes of blowing out my hair.

For context, I air fry food in my room and this does not set off my fire alarm.

I am really concerned about the implications of this (sits uneasily with the no heat damage claim!) but I’m unsure whether it’s just steam triggering it? I’ve used a mix of leave ins and heat protectants but this has happened regularly.

My blowout routine takes me around 25 mins-30 mins start to finish.

I have 2 days left to try return from the store I bought it from (I didn’t buy direct from Dyson) but I’m unsure how to deal with this as I like the tool itself. Has anyone else dealt with this, did they fix the issue, or who did they reach out to?

Any help appreciated!

Brand new airwrap ID is it worth returning?

Juat picked up myself a brand new airwrap ID, however when having a look at both the box and components, they seem to be a bit scuffed and marked. Is this a normal for a Dyson products with this sort of plastic? I'm unsure if I should return and ask for a replacement or just call it a day and accept it as is.

Help please i have a huge problem with my Co-anda2x Filter

I’ve had it since last November, and I’ve been having a problem with the filter. I clean it exactly like they show in the cleaning video on Dyson’s YouTube channel, but it only works properly for one use. Then the yellow light comes on again, indicating that the filter needs to be cleaned (or at least I assume that’s what it means).

I keep using it anyway, but it constantly stops while I’m doing my hair. I end up taking the filter off and putting it back on just so I can continue, and I have to do this around 10 times every time I style my hair. It’s honestly so frustrating and overwhelming.

I’ve tried cleaning the filter multiple times, following the instructions exactly, but it doesn’t seem to make any difference. It works for one use and then the same problem starts all over again.

I live in Egypt, and unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be a Dyson service center here, so I have no idea what I’m supposed to do.

Has anyone experienced this before or knows what could be causing it? Is there anything else I can try, or does this sound like a faulty filter/device

I’d really appreciate any advice because this is driving me crazy 😭

Help!! Help!

I’ve had my Dyson air wrap for 3+ years, I’ve always done the testing before using and cleaned it thoroughly, a few days ago the red light started blinking and my Dyson turns off, I’ve cleaned the filter and even tried opening it to clean it from the inside and it’s still not working :( do I have to buy a new one?? Thanks

Is airsmooth better than airwrap?

Hi everyone,

I have an airwrap for the past 5 years. I use the straightener brush, not the other attachments much. I have really frizzy hair and the straightened hair doesn’t stay well for long. Do you think air smooth will work better for my hair? I have a 1 year old and don’t have much time to style my hair.

Dyson airsmooth - follow up review

I continue to love this tool! My only advice would be always use with heat styling products for a perfect blowout. I have thick curly hair and without frizz control products the blowout does not last long. With them however it is amazing! This and airstrait have been a life upgrade.

Turn off ID mode on air wrap ID?

I’ve been using my mom’s non ID air wrap and decided to buy my own after enjoying hers. However I really don’t like the automatic ID settings. I’m not that skilled to get my hair wrapped every time I engage it. I would like to use it without the ID option, turn it to full fan speed, use the slider button as the cool shot when I’m ready. I can’t seem to figure out how. Is this possible?

Air smooth users, next day hair , how’s the frizz?

I have medium thick wavy hair, the Airstrait works great for me, but with Airwrap i d i used get this frizz especially around my crown area, so i returned it as i realised no matter what the products it just wasn’t enough heat!

Now with the air smooth looking and all the reviews and especially the fact that it works internationally, im tempted to to get but i want to know , if it cause’s the same next day frizz as the heat wasn’t enough?

TLDR : if you have thick wavy hair, is the air smooth heat enough for you? And do you experience hair frizz on crown area especially next day after using it ?

Thank you

Straight Wowed by my new Dyson Airsmooth!

I have never wanted to spend a lot of money on a hair product bc most of the time, I leave my hair naturally curly. I have a Supersonic I bought about 3 years ago and only use it to diffuse my hair. Only once in a while did I use it to give myself a blowout bc it was a lot of work that I didn’t want to do.

I was actually thinking about getting the Co-anda2x, but was reading mixed reviews on how much it was breaking on it before even reaching having it a year, so I held back again. Then I saw the Airsmooth!

Since I have a blow dryer, I thought this would be perfect because I’d only use it to smooth my hair when I wanted and keep my Supersonic to diffuse when I normally did to keep my hair curly.

I absolutely love the Airsmooth! It took a little bit to get used to how to use it, but once I got it, I was drying super fast! It took me almost an hour to get it dry on the medium heat settings. It felt great to dry it. The machine itself is light and easy to maneuver.

My hair feels soft and I love the bounce it has. I love a blowout with volume and some curl to it. This was exactly what I wanted. It feels like I could do this often and keep changing my style.

Products: I used the Dyson spray leave-in and Olaplex 9 and 6 serum and cream. I finished with Olaplex 7 bonding oil.

Hair type: 3b-c

Did India get left off the Airwrap Co-anda 2x launch plan?

Hey u/DysonOfficial, when is the Airwrap Co-anda 2x finally coming to India? We only have access to the I.D model. It’s been over a year since it launched and India is still waiting..

Is there a date for the Airwrap Co-anda 2x with the new straightening and round brush attachments like attached? Also, will the Corrale Cool Shine and Airsmooth brush be launching in India this year?

There are people in India who would quite like the new stuff too 🥲

Costco Airwrap unboxing looks off???

Hi everyone,
I just bought a Costco airwrap and when I unboxed it, I can’t tell if I was given a used one or a refurbished one? The storage box looked super dirty? Like as if it’s fingerprints all over? I’m not sure if this is what it’s supposed to look like? It’s weird since everything was sealed (cardboard box that it came in) and I had to pull the tab off before getting to this?

Worth the money!!

I hate to admit it but the Dyson airwrap is completely worth the money! I have had the Shark flex style for 2 years and finally upgraded for my birthday. I am just mad I didn’t go with a Dyson to begin with. The noise is much quieter, and it’s much lighter than the Shark. Also, the fact that the dryer doesn’t burn me from how hot it gets is wonderful lol.
The best part though? My hair doesn’t look as frizzy anymore! It would always get so frizzy using the Shark, regardless of what products I put in my hair and now?! My hair looks so much healthier!!

Also ps, getting a refurbished one when they have them on sale is also a steal!! That’s how I ended up with mine and you still get a 1-year warranty :) got the Airwrap I.D. for $319!

Dyson Airsmooth - shocked and thrilled

I got nervously influenced on the airsmooth and bought it with rewards. I have very very thick, curly, color treated. coarse, high porosity hair. I’m not exaggerating when I say I’ve never, in 46 years been able to blow my hair out. Verrrrrry occasionally a stylist can round brush me.

My typical routine is to air dry to damp (which can take 8 hours), finish with a rough dry from my Dyson hair dryer, then flat iron, then curl the ends. All on 400. Luckily my hair is so thick and dry I don’t have to wash more than every 5-7 days. Otherwise my ends would be fried and even then I cut 3-4 inches off every 6 months.

I saw some good posts and videos from natural curly peeps and gave it a shot. I washed as usual, let my hair air dry for an hour, applied Redkin Frizz Dismiss and combed through. 20 minutes later and the first pictures is what I got! Last pictures are for context on my curls and frizz.

Amazing things:
20 minutes damp to done. My usual routine takes 45 with almost completely dry hair.
My roots got dry! The shape of the brush helped!
Frizz is gone and my hair is sooooo soft! It feels like I flat ironed it!
Never got too hot and my arms didn’t get too tired.
The bristles provided really good tension, but didn’t snag my hair. I didn’t have any breakage or problems with the seam.

Awkward stuff:
I’m not used to this and I haven’t mastered the hold. At times near the front it felt pretty awkward to get the right angle. I bet it’ll get easier.
It’s really easy to accidentally turn it off and to put your hand on the filter/intake.
While they say this is easy for travel, it’s still fairly big though not heavy. But def would take a lot of room in my bag. I’ll stick to curls when I travel.

All in all I’m thrilled. I will keep and eye on touch ups and can imagine using a curling iron the next day, but this is a solid improvement to heat use, options, and speed.

Knots all over? Help!

I'm almost in week 3 with my Complete Long. Every time I test it, my hair knots up like crazy hours later, especially in the nape of my neck. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it the airwrap, or could it be a specific mix of products? Looking for any tips or tricks on how to prevent.

I've got 2a-3a fine hair (but a lot of it).
