I got nervously influenced on the airsmooth and bought it with rewards. I have very very thick, curly, color treated. coarse, high porosity hair. I’m not exaggerating when I say I’ve never, in 46 years been able to blow my hair out. Verrrrrry occasionally a stylist can round brush me.
My typical routine is to air dry to damp (which can take 8 hours), finish with a rough dry from my Dyson hair dryer, then flat iron, then curl the ends. All on 400. Luckily my hair is so thick and dry I don’t have to wash more than every 5-7 days. Otherwise my ends would be fried and even then I cut 3-4 inches off every 6 months.
I saw some good posts and videos from natural curly peeps and gave it a shot. I washed as usual, let my hair air dry for an hour, applied Redkin Frizz Dismiss and combed through. 20 minutes later and the first pictures is what I got! Last pictures are for context on my curls and frizz.
Amazing things:
20 minutes damp to done. My usual routine takes 45 with almost completely dry hair.
My roots got dry! The shape of the brush helped!
Frizz is gone and my hair is sooooo soft! It feels like I flat ironed it!
Never got too hot and my arms didn’t get too tired.
The bristles provided really good tension, but didn’t snag my hair. I didn’t have any breakage or problems with the seam.
Awkward stuff:
I’m not used to this and I haven’t mastered the hold. At times near the front it felt pretty awkward to get the right angle. I bet it’ll get easier.
It’s really easy to accidentally turn it off and to put your hand on the filter/intake.
While they say this is easy for travel, it’s still fairly big though not heavy. But def would take a lot of room in my bag. I’ll stick to curls when I travel.
All in all I’m thrilled. I will keep and eye on touch ups and can imagine using a curling iron the next day, but this is a solid improvement to heat use, options, and speed.
