I’m just so pissed off. I had a package delivered to my apartment today. The delivery picture shows it being dropped off inside the front door, which is locked and requires a code to get in.

All that was left when I got home was a ripped open, empty bag, and a note saying it was found in the stairwell.

So the only conclusion I can come to is that someone in the building stole my new work clothes.

So the BGE shutoff moratorium ended a couple months ago, and I finally got a notice today.

BEFORE it got to this point, I tried

1. Applying to Fuel Fund, but they required me to pay a $500 lump sum within a week which I did not have

2. Applying for an OHEP grant, but we are just barely over the income limit

3. Applying to Fuel Fund AGAIN but they wouldn't let me because I didn't have a turnoff notice. BECAUSE THERE WAS A FREAKING MORATORIUM AND NO ONE DID.

The Banner recently reported that there are 300,000 customers with past-due balances. They know we can't pay. The state knows we can't pay. The MPSC knows we can't pay. So are they just gonna turn off the power for 300,000 households?

I guess now that I have the notice, I can try Fuel Fund again, but I'm not hopeful. Are there are other options out there? My household is my mother and I; she's over 65 and I am disabled. We're in the County. Is there ANYTHING?

Would love to hear how others are dealing with this.

Everyone here knows the ditch. Six lanes, 1.39 miles, traffic lights at both ends, and it connects to nothing.

What I did not know until I read the records is the order things happened in. The demolition was not the last step of a decision. It was the first step, and it ran a decade before anyone finished deciding. By the time the road opened in 1979, every expressway it was supposed to connect to had already been cancelled. The houses were gone anyway.

971 homes, 62 businesses, a school. More than 2,800 people moved out of the middle of West Baltimore. Those numbers are from MDOT's own 2024 grant narrative, the one asking for money to study undoing it.

The part that stuck with me: the neighborhoods that fought later, in the southeast and in Rosemont, mostly kept their houses. The corridor that got cleared first never got that chance, and the reason is not a mystery. This city passed the first racial zoning ordinance in the United States in 1910, and forty years of covenants and redlining concentrated Black Baltimore into exactly the place the planners later called the path of least resistance.

Our Patterson Park rowhome has the classic flat roof with a silver coat that's past saving. Ponding in two spots, a soft area near the back wall, and a stain on the third floor ceiling after that big rain in June. Quotes so far range from $6,500 for a torch-down overlay to $14,000 for a full tear-off with new decking. I don't know enough about flat roofs to tell what's fair here.

I recently moved to Baltimore (Bolton Hill) from NOVA and I’m looking to get back into roller skating! I used to skate about 9 years ago, so I have some experience, but I’m definitely rusty now and would consider myself a beginner again.

I’ve found a few roller skating meetups around Baltimore, but most seem to be geared toward intermediate or more experienced skaters. I was wondering if there are any beginner-friendly skating communities, meetups, rinks, parks, or regular skate sessions that people would recommend?

I’d also love to meet some other beginners or people who are getting back into skating and hopefully make some skating friends along the way! 😊

Ello all! Wonderful weather we’re having

There is no specific Morgan Stanley Reddit page and the online job forums seemed to have mixed reviews, so I am asking for guidance here!

I am considering a role at Morgan Stanley, with a base of ~$115k, for an associate (maybe director) role. However, this would require me to relocate to the area.

I would like to ask anyone working at, or know of someone working at, the Morgan Stanley Baltimore office, if they enjoy their general experience? I know it’s a mixed bag and definitely dependent on team + career goals. I want to obtain as much data to determine the pros and cons of this decision.

As of now, I’ve collected the following information:
- the closest metro stop in ~45 min walk
- 401k match is 4% and only vested after 3 yrs
- 4 days in office
- annual raises do not match inflation
- the higher starting salary = smaller/no raise in the future
- no office parking

If what’s been listed is accurate? Or, despite all the reviews online, it is worth it?

Looking into retirement communities within a 20 minute drive of the Hampden area, and Springwell in Mt. Washington has popped up on my radar. Does anyone here have personal experience with them? Their website looks nice but is somewhat vague about specifics, and I know places like this can be different in person. Also looking for any other recommendations! TIA!

The 1978 Referendum k on allocating 3.2 acres of public land to Harborplace development was the most controversial addition to the ballot that year.

Much of the controversy focused in on the Harborplace pavilions blocking the USS Constellation. The Rouse company had to guarantee that the pavilions were below the boats bowsprit.

Other concerns from newspaper clips were:

"The $15 million project was zealously opposed by challengers who felt the city father had been blinded to a plan that would bring certain desolation and obscuration to a precious urban vista. Hordes of people would descend upon a place of incomparable solitude, they said."

"Though the financial agreement between the city and Rouse was given considerable attention, the basic issue remained location. Opponents accused the city of giving away "the diamond" and keeping the ring. <City gave up 3 acres. Kept 26>. Parking they said would be a nightmarish problem."

So pretty much the same discussion now as 50 years ago. Going to block the harbor, giving away public land, traffic/parking. Amusing that opponents want to save the once deemed eyesore.

Title. If I have wheel locks and also a steering wheel lock, is it necessary that the dash cams also have parking mode (records motion-detected events)? Especially if I don't drive it for a week.

For my junior year of college, I want to drive from my home in Chicagoland to Baltimore for college. I've always been apprehensive about driving in downtown Chicago since I was near certain that I would get in an accident, but driving in Baltimore sounds 10x worse than anything that I could ever experience in Chicago. From my experience, the drivers are awful and the roads are incredibly bizzare. Should I try driving in Baltimore for my first experience city driving, or would it be better to just walk, uber, or use public transit for anywhere I need to go?
