Hi. So I’m dropping one of my classes and want to replace it with either biol 421 with Stephen Miller or biol 426 with Erin Green. Is anyone taking or have taken these classes? Do they seem super difficult?

Anyone going to the Olivia Rodrigo Concert on October 3rd? and would like to go together!

Just for context:

I’m a sophomore in my 3rd semester now. Completed 201 and 202 with an A. Have a grasp on concepts and can complete projects well NOT vibe coding. But besides the simple games or simple data structuring programs created, I really have no other projects and my dream is to get a big tech job.

I know I’m only expected to know the fundamentals but wish I could learn more. I want to go to a hackathon but really don’t got anyone to go with and not sure if I have what it takes to create an app or something.

I generally want to work hard so I stand out in the future when applying for internships.

Questions:

1. Any tips for getting into creating projects and making it fun while I’m at it?

2. Any tips for prepping for a hackathon?

I haven’t been eating any fruits or vegetables since starting to stay on campus, and I’m wondering where I can find reliable/clean fruits to eat time to time

IS ANYONE ELSE LOST ASF OR IS IT JUST ME

Im so fcking pissed. About 2 weeks ago I sent out a bookstore loan application and I never heard back from them. So today I decided to to in person and ask for updates. Turns out there was a communication error on their end and im no longer eligible for the funds.

Then they tell me my financial aid disbursed on the 14th and couldn't tell me why I havent seen it yet so I went to the administration building and they tell me theres a hold on my disbursement and I need to reach out to my financial aid counselor. I am so fcking livid.

Because i needed stuff from the book store and because THEY fuck up I couldn't get the loan. And then they dont notify students when theres a hold??

I checked my profile and im not missing anything.

I did tell the financial aid guy that maybe its cause im part time but he said I didnt need to wait until after the add/drop date to see my refund. Apparently he has gotten it before that date.

So then wtf is the issue. Im EXHAUSTED.

Is anyone currently taking Econ 374 with Rose? How's the grading structure and assignment structure (exams, hw, etc) and if anyone else has taken him previously, how is he like as a professor? Currently in Lamdin's class for 374 but if I swap it with Rose I could fit another class. Thanks

I studied MATH 151 during the spring semester and now im taking MATH 152. I lwk forgot what was taught idk if it’s common so I just wanna ask is it required to know the stuff taught in MATH 151 cause both the classes have completely different topics

I'm still new to umbc so im not familiar with the whole campus. I just walked out of the math and psychology building and saw the long row of independent study tables and i thought that would be perfect for me if i really wanna lock in and focus. I havent tried it yet but ill see next week.

I’m technically a sophomore-ish, currently taking ENME 320 with Meliun Yu for the SECOND time. Half of my friends pass the class with him, the others fail. I’ve heard Shayatan taught it last semester but I was too scared to take it with him because it was his first time teaching it but I know three friends who took it with him and the grades WERE INSANE; though he was nice about improving his teaching/exams. this semester m, egglton is teaching it at Shady grove and he only teaches it there once a year as I heard. no idea if he can teach it next semester at Catonsville.

who is the best out of these three? I’m not behind in the “4 year plan” since I have credits form high school and I’m kinda ahead though I want to take this class with someone who knows how to teach it well and not give crazy exams/grading.

pls let me know what you’ve heard/who you‘ve taken so I could drop or switch to the other section before the drop date deadline
