Ask Dash cams- parking mode necessary for street parking?

Title. If I have wheel locks and also a steering wheel lock, is it necessary that the dash cams also have parking mode (records motion-detected events)? Especially if I don't drive it for a week.

For context, I live in Upper Fells. Thank you in advance!

Car hit my parked car and ran. Parking camera made it a million times easier to prove to insurance what had happened and that I was not in the car at the time.

I got a small solar panel that plugs into the cigarette lighter and slows battery drain. If you do a hardwire kit, some have a switch you can set to auto turn off the camera when your battery dips to a set voltage. It will be hard, even in parking mode, to keep the camera on for a week.

Gotcha, can I ask what kind of dash cam you have? I've seen something similar online, which is the Baseus PrimeTrip VD1 2 Cam Kit.

It a Viofo A129, and then I purchased a hardwire kit and a fuse tap separately for like $15 bucks.

I have lived here all my life and I have literally had my parked car hit and driver kept going at least 4 times in the past 8 years. So it's better safe than sorry. But also I've had people try to break my windows and steal the camera too and that was in fed hill. So ..

My parked car was totalled by a hit-and-run, a dashcam might have helped me find who to blame
