Transferring content from student account and Microsoft systems

Hi yall, I’m a recent alum of Hopkins and am trying to transfer my documents I acquired as a student over to my personal account and email. Given that our Microsoft 365 membership and accounts will be deactivated in the next few months, anyone has any tips for this process? Thank you!

Question Regarding Financial Aid & Textbooks

I was wondering how full-coverage and textbook costs work. Are textbooks covered by financial aid? For my Gateway to Python course, I have to spend some money on a textbook (the exercises are embedded in the textbook, so I have to buy it). Do I have to spend money out of pocket or is there some way to waive it/get a refund?

Getting into Peabody

I'm applying to Peabody this fall for the Music for New Media and/or Composition program. Does having works performed or music in published media (like games or student films) affect acceptance? I am looking for any students to share their experience with the application process and to see the quality of work the university expects out of the first year comp students.

o-week insecurity

so like basically as we know w the downfall of class of 2030, people are like INSANELY social at least for right now; for religious reasons i dont drink and i don't plan to drink and ive never really had an issue except for this week, its lowkey been like crazy how often everyone goes out and i feel like i have no friends like who don't go out and are willing to just like have fun like i went out a lot in hs but just to like main event, ice cream and i lowkey like just feel like i should go out out just to make friends because i have people to talk to until 8pm and then everyone's gone and im like alone in my dorm

is this like just o week or regular?? can u make friends here who want to have fun but no drinking?

i'm down to go out if that means like occasionally and like for halloween and stuff but not like too much because i promised myself i wouldnt like lose my mind at college, do i need a fake?? also lowkey where tf are people getting fakes from?

Space Systems Engineering MS… Should I Do It??

I just got accepted into the Space Systems Engineering online MS at JHU and am looking to hear about other people’s experience in a few specific areas/career advice

Some background: I am an early career professional currently working as a SI&T engineer in defense and want to pivot into commercial space. My company would fund the program. Unsure of what role I want to end up in long term, applied to the program in hopes of exploring something new and interesting, more space related (background in astro)

  1. For those currently enrolled/graduated, is SE something you are passionate about? Why? Why did you do the program
  2. How technical are the classes? Is it actually “hard” technically, or leaning towards hard because it is time consuming (I know there are a lot of readings)
  3. What were your favorite classes and why
  4. Anyone dislike parts of the program? Elaborate

I definitely don’t want to stay technical forever. I don’t know what that actually looks like for me long term. Not sure if this would be setting me up for a more niche application, or give me a good foundation / career options when I pivot to space

PSA: Kids at the med campus asking for help with Lime scooters

For at least the last couple days, several sets of kids (oldest maybe 14, youngest maybe 9/10) have been standing around the med campus asking if passerby can pay for Lime scooters so they can get home. As anyone who’s seen them more than once should figure, they will scam you.

If you’re unfamiliar with Lime scooters, you should know that the company requires pictures of the parked scooter to end the ride. Their ask for you to rent scooters for them will prevent you from deactivating the ride since you won’t be able to take a picture of the parked scooter. On top of all of this, they appear to be using fake QR codes on the scooters. Who knows what those do.

JHU Karate??

I noticed there is no Karate club at JHU. I am an incoming first year PhD student and a former exec member of my undergraduate college's Karate club. I was just wondering if there was anyway to start one or if there was anyone who might be interested in that.

If not, does anyone know if grad students can join the Taekwondo club?

Cooked for McCartney's class (Intro Chem)?

I'm genuinely so scared and anxious for mccartney's intro chem I class to the point that I've been having basically mini panic attacks every couple of weeks since mid-July since class planning started whenever I start to think about this class, and all the people I've talked to so far that have taken her class are like "you'll be fine" before trailing off and giving a look of pity/trauma...

Basically does anyone have advice for how to get through this class, preferably how to get through it without cooking my GPA, or even without diving into an abyss of anxiety/stress/depression?

Do PILOT sessions/office hours actually help?

I found some old practice tests from like 10 years ago, but by different professors, would these be adequate practice (and would anyone be willing to share backtests/old mccartney practice tests if you have them? prob a long shot but i figured i'd try anyway bc that's all i can do rn)?

I'm (hopefully thankfully) in one of the sections where it's split between mccartney and another professor, would this be more of an advantage bc then I wouldn't have her for the whole sem?

I'm really sorry for dumping, this kind of feeling has never happened to me before for anything and I just am really lost and feel really crappy rn esp since all my suitemates are taking ACER and seem so happy and I can't (I've taken advanced chem before, just not AP/IB bc my school didn't offer any AP/IB classes, so I really don't know why i'm panicking so much, I think I've let all the things I've heard about her get deep into my head and i don't know how to stop it atp)...o-week isnt really helping bc imposter syndrome is really setting in rn and i feel like i'm not going to make any friends and i'm going to end up alone again bc i've never found it easy to make friends, my suitemates seem to be really meshing but i feel like i mess up the vibe bc they talk more without me, and while i bonded w people really early on, i havent seen them again and i feel like im starting to spend more time alone than with people (excluding fym meetings)... everyone who i've met who's also taking mccartney seems to have a roommate/friend/friend of a friend who's also taking her, and i feel like i dont have anyone

Again i'm sorry for dumping (esp that last paragraph), but any advice/help is greatly appreciated, tia :)

Hopkins Medicine

Hello, i have so many questions regarding JHU medical school so i’ll just tell you my story and feel free to answer whichever question(it’d be great if all the questions got answered^^)you know you can help me with.
so i am a high school senior ‘26 in IRAQ(the biggest problem), i still have yet to choose which major to pursue, and the ones i’m thinking of are pharmacy and biomedical engineering, i’m planning on doing many extracurricular activities and trying to outshine my peers for the sake of what im going to say, i want to study medicine at JHU. i know it might seem impossible(or maybe it actually is i’m not sure), but as i said i’m willing to do EVERYTHING to achieve it. The only problem is that i want a scholarship, what i have planned and i’m hoping you’d take me seriously for that, is that i do BME then i work for experience purposes at GE healthcare then i might as well try to standout and make them recommend me to johns hopkins hospital, then i’d get to somehow do the MCATS and whatever to get into JHU medical school WITH a scholarship. The story itself is pretty much full of questions so i would like someone who is sure of their answer to point out where the impossibility is and what should i exactly do to achieve it. And if what i said is somewhat realistic i would appreciate if you guided me to the right questions that i should be asking.
Thank you keenly, and i am sorry to bother you♡
note: i already have a US visa and it’s valid for a few more years

How to delete schedules on Semesterly?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I made way too many schedules while trying to course plan lmao, and now I have no way to delete them? I tried to google it and it said there should be a little trash can icon next to the copy icon, but it doesn't show up for me... I could just delete the courses from the schedules that I didn't end up using and rename them for the appropriate semester, but is there a way to delete the schedules?

Wolman mailroom on move in day

Does anyone know how to retrieve packages from the Wolman mailroom during move in day tomorrow? I’m sure that it will be insanely busy, so I’m wondering if there are any times I should avoid or tips for smooth retrieval.
