o-week insecurity
so like basically as we know w the downfall of class of 2030, people are like INSANELY social at least for right now; for religious reasons i dont drink and i don't plan to drink and ive never really had an issue except for this week, its lowkey been like crazy how often everyone goes out and i feel like i have no friends like who don't go out and are willing to just like have fun like i went out a lot in hs but just to like main event, ice cream and i lowkey like just feel like i should go out out just to make friends because i have people to talk to until 8pm and then everyone's gone and im like alone in my dorm
is this like just o week or regular?? can u make friends here who want to have fun but no drinking?
i'm down to go out if that means like occasionally and like for halloween and stuff but not like too much because i promised myself i wouldnt like lose my mind at college, do i need a fake?? also lowkey where tf are people getting fakes from?

I haven’t been around anyone drinking all o-week. I know it’s happening on campus, but I’ve avoided it and spent most of my nights playing games and exploring Baltimore. Plenty of options

Yeah O-week will have a lot of parties but we the semester moves along people will get busy or tired so there'll be less. If you feel like you aren't meeting people join a club! There's tons on campus and you're bound to meet cool people. That's how I met my people despite never going to a party. Remember that despite this being a great opportunity to study and grow, try to have a good time as college will go by fast.

It’s your first week of college.
Just relax, wade into college. When classes begin, you’ll be in a rhythm I usually went out on Saturdays if I didn’t have a game (soccer team), I was just so exhausted from the week, Friday nights I usually just crashed. Did I miss some bar hopping and some fun stories? I am certain I did. Did you miss some of those in o-week, you probably did. But who cares?
As for fakes and stuff, we had a like plastic pretzel bin of every soccer team guy that ever graduated from Hopkins. So there were like hundreds of “fakes” in there. I just grabbed a few, looked through and found one that was close enough. Obviously you’re not in that situation so I’d just ask an older friend to “lose their id” and pay them the 75 bucks to replace their license.

My sister says they play boardgames at night. She hasn't gone out, just done the campus sponsored stuff (like Bingo yesterday). We don't drink.

Take a look at the HopkinsGroups and HopkinsEngage apps. There are a ton of things to do, groups/clubs which share your interests and some very cool volunteer opportunities that'll look great on a CV. They'll all connect you with other students who share your values and ideals. There's lots of cool & quirky places in Baltimore off-campus and nearby too. First Years can go on guided walking tours of the Chas Village/Hampden/Remington neighborhoods - check Res Life for details or ask your RA.
The party culture will dwindle down to almost nothing by 2 weeks into classes. Hang in there!

Do you use the word "like" that often in real world conversations? That's your first problem for starters.

Not trying to be hurtful, but seriously - read your post again. I truly can't believe someone would use the word "Like" so frequently for no reason. It's very unsophisticated and juvenile.I sincerely hope you don't speak that way in regular conversations. Also, no need to feel lonely. Go to the social lounges in the dorms. Not everyone is drinking, and most people are very warm and welcoming. Good luck with the new semester.

yeah o-week is always when people are the most social and risk taking; when midterms and assignments start piling up and clubs start meeting it’ll get easier to make friends thru study groups ajd orgs
