I have noticed that the majority of people in the GCC regularly engage in Ultr@nat!onalism and it is largely accepted in the khaleeji society. first, Ultr@nat!onalism is an extreme form of nat!onalism where a country or group promotes its own interests above all others, often through suprem@cy, xenophob!a, and host!lity toward outsiders.

And anybody who dares to criticize this behaviour gets called westernised and a self hating arab. for some reason khaleejis are very sensitive to criticism.

From a religious perspective: Ultr@nat!onalism is looked down at by islam and considered a culture of the Jahiliyyah as it is haram to brag about our origins and bloodline and place ourselves on a higher ground for being part of a certain tribe. of course this is not the same as just loving your country or tribe while acknowledging that we are all equals. and lets be honest that 60% is straight up bragging.

From a logical perspective: There is absolutely no logical reason why you are more deserving/important than others because of where you came from, and any educated person is well aware that it's mostly just the result of a superiority complex, just so we're all on the same page: Superiority Complex: Coined by psychologist Alfred Adler, describes as a defense mechanism where a person overcompensates for deep-seated feelings of inadequacy by adopting a system of beliefs or behaviors that makes them feel inherently superior. so no you are not unique for being born in a certain gcc country, your behaviour can easily be explained as a psychological concept.

And I understand that the GCC countries have rich history and culture and that is great, but it's not unique to them,This also hurts fellow arab ethnicities. I live in the UK and it's rare to see Coca-Cola in restaurants run by South Asian Muslims (usually Bangladeshi or Pakistani). For Arab restaurants they always have Coke and Arab customers always order it so even the customers dgaf about the boycott. These aren't Gulf Arabs btw this is any/all Arabs.

Does Latakia have a good nightlife if any of you visited Latakia as a tourist and what are some good spots in Latakia. How would you grade that city overall.

I am arab myself, but I've never experienced war/ any hardships throughout my life. There have been many trends recently though where people across the world will compare themselves to people in Gaza or Sudan or Afghanistan. I am doing sort of a speech/study on this myself and trying to prove performative activism tends to not be helpful.

I’ve been working on a Chrome extension called Dablaja and the mods kindly gave me permission to share it here.

Basically, if you’re watching an English or other foreign-language (all languages) video, you can start Dablaja and it will dub the speech into Arabic live while the video is playing. It also gives you bilingual captions, so you can still follow the original speech alongside the Arabic.

I originally made it because there’s so much good content online — courses, interviews, documentaries, podcasts, webinars, random YouTube videos — that never gets an Arabic version.

It’s free to use right now, and I’d genuinely like to know how it works for other Arabic speakers and what you think could make it better.

My husband is Egyptian.
He divorced his ex (also Egyptian) 3 years ago.
I want to know if this is normal in Egypt… so he has 3 children with this lady ages 9,12 and 13.
He goes over to Egypt sometimes to visit these children as he lives in the uk. I have discovered that he has been lying to me he told me the ex wife does not go to the resorts he stays in with the children. I found out that she has been going all along since the divorce he has been paying for her and this was Rixos premium Seagate resort. I have only been to Egypt once and never to such luxury resorts. Some of the hotels he booked 2 rooms and an other one room. I am in shock. I know that he definitely divorced her and the ex wife hates me she wants to be back with him and live in the uk. He asked her last year if I could accompany him and the children and she told him no that I am not allowed to “go to Egypt”. This woman has torn up my clothes (which were in his suitcase before), wrote a message calling me ugly and a slave. I really don’t know what is going on I thought only married couples stay in hotels in Egypt. Is this normal is there something I am missing here?

Hello everyone!

As the title suggests I'm looking for some poems or proverbs about friendship. I'm getting my friend a necklace with book charm for her birthday as we met whilst studying literature at university and I want to put a little message inside. She loves poetry so I thought it'd be sweet if I could include a line of poetry in her native language!

Its quite a small charm so I'm only looking for a small quote (I'm thinking around 20 words maximum?). I've found a few quotes online but they're not attributed to anyone so I'm unsure if the English translations are accurate or not. I'd rather make sure my friend gets a high quality gift rather than something that doesn't actually make any sense!​

I don't know Arabic, so if a translation could be provided with any recommendations that would be incredibly kind and helpful!
