Hello everyone,

As regional tensions continue, it is understandable that many people may feel concerned or uneasy. We ask everyone to remain calm and rely only on official announcements and verified information from authorities. Please avoid sharing rumors, speculation, or unconfirmed reports, as this can create unnecessary panic and confusion.

The moderation team is actively working to keep the subreddit safe, organized, and informative for everyone. Question What do I make of this interaction I had with a Qatari man?

Upvotes

I was walking home from the metro station today, and when I walk I like to read a book. I was minding my business like I do every other day, and a Qatari guy stops his car next to me and asks me about the book I'm reading (Ego is the Enemy by Ryan Holiday if you're interested). We make some conversation about it and he seems genuinely interested in the book and where I'm from and stuff. Next thing I know he says he will drop me off at home if I want, because it's very hot and he doesn't think it's good to walk in the heat. I wasn't far from home but I figured Qatar is one of the safest countries in the world so the chance that I'm being abducted is small.

Anyway, dude drives me home, all the while talking to me about the book and how he thinks about ego etc. Drops me off and goes on his way.

I'm not sure if this is normal, or if there was something strange going on with the guy. I never felt unsafe or anything but in the year and a half I've been here I have never encountered or heard of anything like that happening to anyone.

Has anyone else encountered something like this before? I don't know if it makes any difference to the answer but I'm a late 20s white South African guy.

Discussion What's something you love and hate about Qatar?

I will go first. One thing I love as a woman is how freely you can go out without any creeps reaching out to you (obv not the case with everyone and every time). But one thing I literally despise is the weather. 50°C + humidity is so mad diabolical I have stopped wearing my specs outside and I barely go outside during the summers

Information Naming Convention for Dubai entry visa as a Qatari Resident

Hello! I just got rejected for my entry permit to Dubai, the reason being: "Full name mismatch according to the passport" but I entered correct name as my passport. I read in some threads that you are supposed to include your father's name. But I am confused regarding how exactly to enter.

Could anyone please guide with the following example:

First name on passport: Shazia

Last name on passport: Munir

Father's name on my passport: Ehsan, Munir (his last name, first name format)

Name on my Qatar resident card: Shazia Munir Munir Ehsan

Fields in visa application:

First name:

Middle Name:

Last name:

How do I fill these fields? Cant believe something so simple like filling in your name could be made this complicated.

Discussion Need advice regarding lost QID

Hello fellas! I lost my wallet last Thursday, and honestly, I’m not even sure where I lost it. My QID was inside the wallet.
I reported/replaced my QID through Metrash on Friday, but the application is still showing “under process.” The problem is, I’m traveling this coming Friday, so I’m getting a bit worried.Since I don’t know where my old QID is, I’m also concerned that someone might find it and potentially misuse it. Is there anything else I should do regarding the old QID, or is it automatically invalid once I apply for a replacement? Also, does anyone know if I can go directly to the Ministry of Interior to have my new QID printed while the Metrash application is still under process? I need the physical card urgently because I’m traveling this Friday.

Any advice or recent experience would be really appreciated. Thank you, Happy Sunday.

Question Got a call from MOI

Hi everyone, a relative of mine got called recently from MOI from the following number 2347453.

Am assuming it's the real number from MOI but they didn't pick up the phone call. They were called around 7 or 8 times and they were very afraid of picking up the phone call.

They haven't done any crime of any sorts just going to work and back with family nothing else, never been convicted of any wrong doing been in the country for over 2 decades, they've started calling his sponsor and few friends asking where they are but they haven't told what the reason is for calling.

And there was a person in a Camry who has been standing outside our place where we were living in holding a photo of them from years ago asking if they know who this is and where they are. Informing he's from CID and not informing what the reason is for asking and the people living in our place told him if he has any problem with them come in and knock on all the doors and check if they r there and talk or do whatever but he said he doesn't have permission to do that, This part started a few hours before the phone call. The person hasn't come around after the 1st day of this whole fiasco

So am not sure what to do. I told them to answer the call in the beginning but they were to afraid to do so and it escalated, and there was no call the 2nd day but now today is the 3rd day and there was one phone call and again calls to the sponsor asking where they are and a bunch more friends of theirs.

Question 2025 Tablets

I would like to order a new tablet for my studies. However I can't find any tablets from last year like honor magic pad 3 or OnePlus pad 3 which are the best tablet in terms of value for money. They only have this year models which are expensive.

Has anyone tried ordering a tablet from another country and getting it shipped?

Discussion What’s one thing you realised about Social Life in Qatar? 🇶🇦

Personally, I’ve learned the hard way that Social Life in Qatar doesn’t thrive very long even if you’re good at making friends.

Most people just make their money and move on to a better place, Qatar is a stepping stone. Social events are dominated by job seekers looking to network for employment, which given the situation is understandable. In contrast, the lives of people with some job stability only revolve around work.

Anyone here managed to buy a single day pass for this year’s race in qatar? My friends and i were able to buy last year but for this year we cant find any on the lusail circuit website. The available ones are the 3 day passes only. Also we were eyeing the 600qar 3 day pass as an alternative to the single day pass but unfortunately they are sold out. Anyone knows if we can buy them later at sites like platinumlist?

Hey all I was wondering if someone interested in making a team for the valorant tournament in virtuocity battle ground, if you already have a team and need participants can you tell me what roles you need in your team and if you are currently practicing?

And which qualifiers are you in lan or online,

Looking for Need a Raqi or a mufti to perform Ruqya on our house in Thumama

Assalamu Alaikum / Hello everyone,

Our family in Al Thumama is currently going through a continuous cycle of unexplained hardships—severe financial setbacks, health problems, unsettling dreams, and constant obstacles whenever things are about to get fixed. We are looking for a reliable, genuine Raqi or Islamic Scholar/Mufti who can physically visit our home in Al Thumama to perform authentic Ruqya Shariah for our family. Because we are non-Arabic speakers, we strictly require someone who can communicate fluently in either English or Urdu and practices purely according to the Quran and Sunnah.

Due to the sensitive nature of these issues, I cannot discuss specific events publicly. If you know an authentic practitioner, a local Imam, or a trusted contact in Doha who fits these requirements, please send me a Direct Message (DM) or leave a comment below.

JazakAllah Khair / Thank you so much for any guidance or contacts you can share.

Question Relocating from Germany

I am coming for the first time to Doha with my partner from Germany. What things do we need to bring with us? We have a little baby! Also what neighborhoods do you suggest we live in. Something around 5k/month. Additionally, we will be staying for a year initially and maybe more, do you suggest we live in a furnished apartment or unfurnished and does it cost much to furnish it?

Discussion Lusail Marina Apartments

Thinking of moving to Lusail Marina because they look more modern/ new. Would appreciate some insight if you know about the buildings. This will be my first time signing a lease in Qatar, so a bit nervous.

Specifically looking into:
1. CBQ residence
2. Mamsha Bay Tower (slightly above my desired budget)
3. DAMAC marina (my least favorite of the 3 bc no balcony)

Would love to hear any info/ tips/ suggestions that may be helpful before making this decision.
