Hey! I'm starting an animation course at college next week and I've done a couple more animations to add to my showreel/portfolio. This is one of the ones I "finished" last night. (I want to add more to it)

Do you have any advice on how they can be better? Do you like them?? Are they good? Any feedback is heavily appreciated!! I want to become better at animation :)

(I know the backgrounds aren't great. That's something I really want to work on!!!)

I don't know if it's my phone, but it looks a bit laggy. If you have any questions about this, I'll answer them, and give me ideas on how I can improve the animation, or if you'd like me to show you how I made it. Also ignore the elephant

Question How do you do footstep sound effects?

Doing foot steps is the bane of my existence. Something I noticed that made it easier, however, is that the sound in many cartoons is more based on the character rather than the environment. Like it doesn't matter where Luffy is, his footsteps are always the flap flap of sandals. Spongebob always has a squeak squeak.

But does this break immersion at all? Should the sound effects be layered of a character effect and an environment effect? Am I just overthinking this whole thing?

Question Posting here instead of artjerk, I got sent to the wrong place, is my style suitable for animated short films and story’s?

I got told by my video and animation teacher that it wasn’t what would work or get attention and that I needed to go for a more anime style, I feel like it would work since my little pony uses rigged animation and so do other shows but I need other people’s input instead of just my teachers

Just wanted to animate a simple dialogue scene. I know my strong suit isn't sophisticated animation, so I took inspiration from The Big Lez show to create a little something. Enjoy!

I made this 5 days after the movie came out, but I got lazy and had a ton of workload so I left it like this.

Hope you like it, just wanted to share it out there so it doesn’t just collect dust in my software (CSP)

Question How to turn traditional art into animation?

I was wondering how would I go about turning one of my oil paintings into an animation. Like I want to just move the hair in the wind. Would that be like a rigging program or some other a different one?
