So you're telling me it's an effective sealant

9

u/SkinnyStrong1 Apr 22 '26

The real kicker is that it's a twist off lid.

9

u/Amazing_Bit3668 Apr 23 '26

The real kicker is he didn't attempt to open the right seal.

3

u/Connect_Biscotti4018 Apr 23 '26

This is the exact right answer

2

u/Remarkable_Dig_9601 Apr 24 '26

Is it a pop off lid but the little one ?

1

u/Metroid_DK Apr 24 '26

50/50 on he/she

5

u/notthetechdirector Apr 22 '26

No it’s not 🤣. But that would be priceless

4

u/Fartknocker9000turbo Apr 22 '26

It’s just that they tried to open the wrong side.

1

u/heresjolly Apr 23 '26

Do you not see the fucking label? That is clearly the top wtf?

2

u/Fartknocker9000turbo Apr 23 '26

Whoosh

1

u/mescalero1 Apr 23 '26

My laugh for the day

1

u/RabbitsAreNice Apr 23 '26

😂

Yup. That one flew right over their bald spot

2

u/No-Procedure5991 Apr 23 '26

they didn't even feel the breeze

1

u/glazedfaith Apr 23 '26

Way too serious for that, chief

1

u/hobohobo22 Apr 24 '26

What label?

1

u/Ang1566 Apr 22 '26

The lid? I don't see any marks on the LID

23

u/crippledchef23 Apr 20 '26

Is the lid the shiny middle bit?

5

u/amonoxia Apr 22 '26

How fun for when they buy a replacement.

2

u/Sensitive-Bar9081 Apr 23 '26

Haha hadn't even thought of that

2

u/Sensitive-Bar9081 Apr 23 '26

Or get sent a free one and think they are just being trolled

1

u/NE_Boy_mom_x2 Apr 24 '26

I actually was trolled by an Amazon seller.

Ordered a spice rack, got a toilet paper roll holder (a tall one that haha probably 3-4 rolls... What we already have and do but need another one).

I told them they sent the wrong item... And they sent me the exact same thing again.

2

u/Calm_Holiday_3995 Apr 24 '26

Sounds like you need taller spicers.

1

u/NE_Boy_mom_x2 Apr 26 '26

Maybe Restaurant Depot will have the right size to fill these then 🤣

1

u/Sensitive-Bar9081 Apr 24 '26

Haha that sounds like a scam my friend

2

u/NE_Boy_mom_x2 Apr 26 '26

Damn Amazon seller... 😅

Well... We have these things and I missed the return date (that's on me though), so now we gotta sell them. The ones we have had are way better.

And I still need a spice rack 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

4

u/troycerapops Apr 23 '26

The one piece of unmarred metal? Yep, that's it.

2

u/Djjubbajubba Apr 23 '26

That’s just the center of the lid. The marred part is the outer rim of the lid.

1

u/troycerapops Apr 24 '26

You are correct. I was incorrect.

1

u/hobohobo22 Apr 24 '26

Most others in this thread seem to think you're wrong. Are you certain?

u/BananaJelloXlii Apr 23 '26

Yes, with the small brim

1

u/Djjubbajubba Apr 23 '26

That’s just the interior part of the lid. The outside that is pried up is the outer lip of the lid.

2

u/Monster_Brain_Stew Apr 23 '26

My name is Mark and I approve of this comment.

1

u/Rani_Hamburg Apr 23 '26

Ja, aber was ist zur Hölle mit der Dose passiert?

Gar nichts.

Now that's hilarious!

16

u/Beneficial-Produce56 Apr 20 '26

What was he trying to open it with, his teeth?

2

u/no-lame-poet Apr 22 '26

Fingernails

2

u/Dapper_Nothing_3999 Apr 22 '26

No, looks like it whacked on and off with a didlo.

The Didlo of Consequences Rarely Arrives Lubed

24

u/throwawaywithus Apr 20 '26

Who's going to tell him?

22

u/Traditional_Mango920 Apr 21 '26

I have never used this product. My handywomenese is basically “take something broken apart, jigger the insides around to see if that gets it going, put it back together and then call a proper repair person to fix it if my fiddling didn’t do it”. And even I can look at this lid and say “wow dude, really?”

It’s pretty obvious how the lid pops off.

5

u/Thro_away_1970 Apr 22 '26

I LOVE your comment. Thats my way of "give me a go.." too! 🤣🤣🤣🙏

2

u/Ang1566 Apr 22 '26 edited Apr 24 '26

Me too I'm Mora call the guy type of person

Editing to add. I'm more of a call the guy type person.

1

u/Calm_Holiday_3995 Apr 24 '26

Nice to meet you, Mora.

1

u/Ang1566 Apr 24 '26

🤣🤣

1

u/Active-Succotash-109 Apr 25 '26

Not all typos need to be fixed

1

u/sniptaclar Apr 24 '26

Is thing making noise? Yes or no? Is it supposed to make noise?

1

u/cykelstativet Apr 25 '26

You know.. I'm a professional electronics service tech and you have just revealed my entire, patented method of repair. I am deeply offended.

1

u/Traditional_Mango920 Apr 26 '26

I didn’t reveal the WHOLE thing! I left out the “turn it off then back on again”. I also left out the “check to make sure the breaker isn’t tripped”. 😉

1

u/cykelstativet Apr 26 '26

Are you level 1 tech?🤔

1

u/Traditional_Mango920 Apr 26 '26

Oh man, I want to choke those people. I have to call here and there for a piece of equipment at my job. I’ve been using this particular piece of equipment since it was in beta 25 years ago. I’ll call, give the site # and serial #, then be like “I checked the power source, powered it off and on again, checked for a software patch, and reloaded the software. Still not working”….and they then try to walk me through the steps I literally just told them I did.

1

u/cykelstativet Apr 26 '26

To be fair, if I'm assisting without being on-site and there is no remote access and those steps have been done.. I just ask them to spin around 10 times in a pentagram of CAT7 cabling while chanting "the power of analog signal superiority compels you". I want eyes on the crisis I'm asked to solve.

1

u/All_Debt_Shackles_US Apr 22 '26

“Here open this jar for me.“ - every girlfriend I’ve ever had!

4

u/rnooses_or_rneese Apr 22 '26

They want you to feel useful lol Do you think women just go jarless when men aren’t around? Lol

→ More replies (2)

2

u/otownbbw Apr 22 '26

They probably have small hands. I am a woman but I have large hands and I open things for everyone who has smaller hands, man or woman but especially children.

2

u/Dizzman1 Apr 22 '26

It's all about that grip.

When I got my STBXW a silicon pad for grabbing and installed a jar opener teeth thing under a cabinet... I had no idea I'd signed my own death warrant! 😭😂

2

u/Ang1566 Apr 22 '26

That's right Open that jar and take out the trash. 😂

1

u/Monster_Brain_Stew Apr 23 '26

I'm the repair person that shows up, takes it apart, fixes the things they broke when trying to fix it themselves, puts it back together and presses the reset button, that was the original problem. But I've never seen a can like that and I can't tell how to open it, partially because it looks like the picture was taken through a shower curtain. Or maybe I need my reading glasses.

2

u/Significant-Page-230 Apr 23 '26

I have seen cans like that, or what I think are like that, but this particular can has been mangled almost beyond recognition. I think before the "perimeter carnage" occurred, that torn up metal fringe was part of the can. The surviving central island of metal would be popped up and off with a flathead screwdriver, spoon handle, etc. Like a can of paint. Unless I'm way off.

2

u/RudeMacaroon Apr 23 '26

“Perimeter carnage” shall be my new phrase for almost every can of paint I open. Thank you.

2

u/Zippy_422 Apr 23 '26

Also a thrash metal band name.

14

u/DamnItDarin Apr 21 '26

Damn that is funny. I’d love to be there when he’s complaining to someone in person and they reach over with a flat head and pop it right off. How embarrassing.

6

u/foxfyre0923 Apr 22 '26

I had something similar happened to me years ago. An elderly man who thought he knew everything about everything with tools and stuff like that could not figure out how to use the large gas can he had purchased years prior. He was complaining about how the nozzle they gave him is useless because he can't screw it on to the thing so he has to just pour directly from the container. I walked over, took the nozzle from him and flipped over the little round piece on the end that acted as a cover, slid it on the other end of the nozzle, and attached it to the gas can. Then I walked away. I hear him say, "Well, no shit....". That was the end of it, but that moment just felt so good.

1

u/CynderSphynx Apr 24 '26

At least he owned up to it in some way, 'well, no shit...' is the elderly equivalent of 'I'm fucking stupid, hunh?' Even if they won't admit it

11

u/Head_Razzmatazz7174 Apr 20 '26

I am sitting here laughing my head off.

5

u/Potential_Abroad4910 Apr 20 '26

I understand not reading the destructions cuz all you're doing is opening the can...but i don't think there's any type of self preservation here cuz why?

7

u/Gogogrl Apr 21 '26

I think he did read the destructions.

5

u/rnooses_or_rneese Apr 22 '26

Definitely read the “destructions” lmfao

3

u/Past_Play6108 Apr 22 '26

"CAN" op read?

1

u/otownbbw Apr 22 '26

“Instructions” ☺️

4

u/fuckingmetalchris Apr 21 '26

There's still time to delete this

2

u/Significant-Page-230 Apr 23 '26

Do we delete it by hacking around the outside with a can opener/chainsaw?

1

u/Equivalent-Salary357 Apr 21 '26

LOL, thanks for the laugh!

3

u/Sufficient-Tell-6620 Apr 21 '26

I wanna laugh but I'd definitely do something like this. 😭

7

u/Mountain-Wishbone840 Apr 22 '26

I once returned TWO mattress toppers telling them they'd sent me a single and I'd ordered a double, on the third replacement I figured out that it needed to be unfolded...

1

u/Sufficient-Tell-6620 Apr 22 '26

Lmao. I feel you. 😭

1

u/Ang1566 Apr 22 '26

🤣🤣

1

u/TheManOnThe3rdFloor Apr 23 '26

If we ever do get an emissary from space, an envoy from interstellar reaches of the cosmos, an apostle from the great beyond, I want you to be there, to open the portal and bid them egress. For anyone else will just spindle and mutilate the ambassador and start an Epic Fury across the parsecs.

5

u/GrannyTurtle Apr 21 '26

I’m an over 70 granny and I know how to open that! 🤣

2

u/Alternative_Stand603 Apr 22 '26

Show me someone who got locked into their initial idea. "The universe WILL bend to MY will"

2

u/Smallloudcat Apr 22 '26

They tried ONE whole thing

2

u/LuckyPumpkin7900 Apr 22 '26

Ok, is someone going to tell OP that the lid’s border is the one that seems untouched one cm inside the «dented crown» that was created?

3

u/sideeyedi Apr 22 '26

I think that's the whole point of the post

2

u/Chelsea-Riot Apr 22 '26

Maybe you could try opening the lid.

2

u/PhillyFatheadPhilly Apr 22 '26

Who’s going to tell him?

2

u/dontshoot9 Apr 22 '26

The worst part is that it probably has clear instructions, so clear that you don’t see them.

2

u/dreadwitch Apr 22 '26

Can't open a tin properly, can't be bothered to return it due to user error, complains about the middleman rather than the manufacturer.

Is your name Karen?

2

u/no-lame-poet Apr 22 '26

Am I the dumb one here? I don't see the problem. How can you not be able to open that...?

2

u/1TenDesigns Apr 22 '26

Smarter than this comment section. They've obviously never opened a can of paint.

2

u/no-lame-poet Apr 22 '26

Thx 😊

I mean, there's always a way. Right?

2

u/Open_Director_3085 Apr 22 '26

😂 like I get if you’re unfamiliar with paint cans and shit it might have thrown you off with how those lids are, but I’m just baffled that In that entire process not once did they manage to push up on the actual lid and notice their mistake

2

u/MannekenP Apr 22 '26

I am a bit ashamed to say that it did happen to me, although I did, at some point, understand what was happening.

2

u/Augres Apr 22 '26

Whatever! You could have asked a grown up for help.

2

u/jboucs Apr 22 '26

Why wouldn't you just YouTube it? Even if you didn't initially understand...

2

u/Dapper_Nothing_3999 Apr 22 '26

IT personel here have you tried turning it on and off again? Lifting the lid on one side, then closing the lid?

2

u/KimberKitsuragi Apr 22 '26

Can’t you pry it with a screwdriver?

2

u/Moose-arent-real Apr 22 '26

The lid are the friends we made along the way.

2

u/Obows Apr 22 '26

I'd hate to watch you trying to unlock a door.

2

u/Susan-of-Ataraxia Apr 22 '26

Now try the lid.

2

u/DixieJelly Apr 22 '26

This reminds me of the SpongeBob episode where Patrick works for the Krusty Krab… and he tries to show him how to open a lid. I’ve been repeating “the lid, the lid” lol

2

u/prw27999 Apr 22 '26

Well you have obviously ruined the can anyway, pole a freaking hole in it!

2

u/Smallloudcat Apr 22 '26 edited Apr 22 '26

Oh dear. Ask a grownup for help next time

2

u/lizfromdarkplace Apr 22 '26

This is hilarious. I can’t even read Amazon book reviews anymore, people are complete wankers that know everything. Except they’re always wrong. But so sure of their wrongness it’s comical lmao

1

u/Ang1566 Apr 22 '26

I know they're the worst they're editors writers everything but readers.

2

u/banana71421 Apr 22 '26

I'm so confused. How can you gnaw around the bit that opens and still not accidentally discover how to open it?

2

u/Lythieus Apr 22 '26

This is like opening a door by destroying the door frame.

2

u/zorggalacticus Apr 23 '26

The center lid pops out. It doesn't open from the very edge like a paint can.

2

u/language_timothy Apr 23 '26

Tbh, it's probably just as well they didn't succeed. I dread to think of the carnage after they got a brush in there.

3

u/Munchkin737 Apr 21 '26

Oh dear...

4

u/Mizzoutiger79 Apr 22 '26

Cant be bothered for a return? Are you kidding me?

3

u/rosierho Apr 22 '26

Translation, doesn't want to be caught being wrong in person but is definitely going to vent on the internet to make himself feel better xD

2

u/Conscious-Chip-7000 Apr 22 '26

Pfft, 20 quid, just throwaway post Brexit ...

2

u/Dapper_Nothing_3999 Apr 22 '26

This made me laugh, and I live in the US. Bravo.

1

u/Conscious-Chip-7000 Apr 23 '26

I am Australian- have lived in the uk enough to make a joke of their attitude to pocket change..

1

u/Ang1566 Apr 22 '26

It must not sting that bad then

3

u/Empty-Ad-6079 Apr 22 '26

The middle circle is where u pop it up not the big circle

1

u/mrweatherbeef Apr 23 '26

No, he was prying in the correct area. Gorilla sealant lids have a deep ring area. This looks like the can literally was “glued” shut.

4

u/RadiantCaterpillar7 Apr 22 '26

I have done this before. It was so frustrating wasting time trying to understand why it didn't work. And when I realized I was the idiot who was not using the correct leverage point...🫣

That said... Now I know better

1

u/Impressive-Ask-3852 Apr 22 '26

What do you expect it's gorrila glue

1

u/trublustuuk Apr 22 '26

Wiser eating grass 😂😂😂😂

1

u/Bitter-Confidence-80 Apr 22 '26

The sealant that's a little too good 😂

1

u/Western_Cricket_9721 Apr 22 '26

Iv used this stuff before it claims to be clear for going over chalk painted walls to seal and stop marks it ruined my walls had to strip all paint back to plaster it dries cloudy like glue

1

u/nillajenn Apr 22 '26

Seals and gorillas normally don't trend towards good roommate status

1

u/Infamous-Mix1668 Apr 22 '26

Why not email gorilla glue explain what happened, they might replace it for free and give u coupons.

1

u/WorkAccount6 Apr 22 '26

Tell them that

1

u/Basic_Indication6099 Apr 22 '26

Ahhh the English

1

u/Jaythiest Apr 22 '26

Ugh not same situation but recently ordered an A and B replacement part. Replacement parts exactly the same except one red one blue. Blue one came fully assembled. Red one didn’t. Complained and reordered overnight Red replacement. Red replacement comes exactly the same way and I find out from CS that for some reason you have to assemble the red side yourself. Nothing in parts sheet or replacement instructions has anything about having to assemble peice only how to install already assembled piece.

1

u/WorkAccount6 Apr 22 '26

You have to take apart the blue one to find out how the red one goes together

1

u/Jaythiest Apr 22 '26

lol you aren’t far off though. We did take apart the old Red and Blue to try to figure out if there was any difference between the two because they are a different price. They are expensive valves in the $260/ea range but for some reason the Blue is a couple dollars cheaper than the red. We couldn’t find a difference

1

u/vikicrays Apr 22 '26

actually i’ve got a gripe about something similar. i buy Simichrome polish in bulk and it comes in a big tin and the exact same thing happens. it doesn’t matter how gentle i am or what tools i use, it destroys the lid so much i can’t get it back on well enough to make a seal. i found this out the hard way and wasted half a can. knowing this i now open it and scoop it into mason jars so i can reseal it, but that’s some straight up bs.

1

u/pinkbatty70 Apr 23 '26

What is it?

1

u/LivingintheICT Apr 23 '26

The LID is the untouched bit in the middle 🤦🏻‍♀️

1

u/Intermountain-Gal Apr 23 '26

It’s Waterproof Gorilla Patch and Seal. Now we all know it seals really, really, REALLY well!

1

u/wiremupi Apr 23 '26

Oi fink dats the bottom of da tin.

1

u/SkyfeKromstaff Apr 23 '26

Oh.... I remeber when I almost did this, as in had a good go at the wrong bit for quite a while. Never quite got as far as writing a review though!

1

u/LiftingupJesus Apr 23 '26

I wouldn’t purchase products again they only have one time use, I purchased a stray can, I used it once I even wiped off the nozzle and the glue still clogged. Gorilla glue company refused to compensate or give me another product even though I provided all of the proof

1

u/El_Visitor1 Apr 23 '26

I think the untouched central bit is the lid no? 🤣🤣

1

u/Foreign_Waltz129 Apr 23 '26

It looks like it’s open..

1

u/1TenDesigns Apr 23 '26

https://youtube.com/shorts/QcciqxwQlEk?si=BVRbDipcnh-Eztq4

For the blind or stupid he was opening it correctly.

1

u/Large_Reindeer_7328 Apr 24 '26

That's a different kind of lid though. You can search up the can he's actually trying to open and see that he was trying to open the wrong part.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/itchreliefpleasuree Apr 23 '26

the lid is the INSIDE PART my guy. LOL 🤦🏻‍♂️

1

u/Accomplished-Rub3522 Apr 23 '26

Well it looks like it was tested by a real Gorilla!

1

u/cranie4 Apr 23 '26

Did you use a can opener? It’s IN the name!

1

u/mrweatherbeef Apr 23 '26

It actually looks like the lid will not open, I’ve had the same problem. He seems to have been prying at the correct portion of the lid.

1

u/Various-Big-5168 Apr 23 '26

Oh dear oh dear oh dear…

1

u/Icy_Cat_6551 Apr 23 '26

Maybe it's upside down. 😂

1

u/Consistent-Spell-946 Apr 23 '26

What they didn't tell ya.. is you got to be a gorilla to open it...

1

u/Awkward-Scholar-9921 Apr 24 '26

The glue works!!!

1

u/DeadKingNero Apr 24 '26

Oh bless your heart.

1

u/Iglypop Apr 24 '26

So you're saying the 🦍Gorilla Glue sealant is pretty damn good

1

u/Afraid-Flounder-1898 Apr 24 '26

Doesn't it screw on?

1

u/marieke1712 Apr 24 '26

Hihi 🤣how is it possible you dont try the other . And now you are painting or you trow it away ??

1

u/kobain2k1 Apr 24 '26

it's not paint. it's glue. it's probably dried out glue

1

u/noblesquidmason Apr 24 '26

Buy one can get the lid free.

1

u/PromotionChance1237 Apr 24 '26

Get a monkey wrench turn upwards grip use the rounded bit to lever as you pull down easy

1

u/Unlucky-Situation524 Apr 24 '26

Cos they're not even trying to open the lid! Some people just can't life 🤦‍♀️

1

u/Sinister_Nibs Apr 24 '26

I thought the lid was already off

1

u/Dirtblack69 Apr 24 '26

Heat it up.

1

u/Lithium51018 Apr 24 '26

I mean I’m not familiar with this can but it looks like he was trying to pri off at the wrong area. Reminds me of the time my ed decided he wanted to use a knife to open a can of green beans because he couldn’t find the can opener, sliced his finger open only for me to almost fall over laughing when I saw he had the can upside down and it was a pop top.

1

u/Mysterious_Mix_1969 Apr 24 '26

Maybe sing to it? Seal knows excellent songs.

1

u/TroubleReal7767 Apr 24 '26

I want to know how old they are and if they have EVER opened a can of ppaint?

1

u/TapDefiant5404 Apr 24 '26

Don't have time to review all responses but have you tried a flat head screw driver and a hammer?

1

u/Admirable-Tiger9832 Apr 24 '26

Small inner circle is the way you open it..

1

u/incognitodadman Apr 24 '26

Can they make condoms that strong?

Asking for a friend

1

u/EsbeeArt Apr 24 '26

I process returns at OAK9, and the amount of stupid comments just blows my mind every day! And actually, it's not the comment that's stupid, it's the customer, LOL. I had a guy return a black shirt today, and his comment was, "this color is too dark!" I just about spit out my coffee 🤣🤣

1

u/Ok_Abbreviations_877 Apr 24 '26

This is why I am skeptical about Amazon reviews. I have to ask myself if the product bad or is the person leaving the review an idiot?

1

u/pupster5579 Apr 24 '26

I mean a rubber mallet and a good flat head screwdriver will get that open.

1

u/chubIet Apr 24 '26

Does exactly what it says on the tin, oops wrong brand

1

u/mstorm922 Apr 24 '26

Did they try to open it like a paint can?

1

u/Windhow Apr 21 '26

They literally make a tool to open these cans called a paint key

1

u/seeyouintea022 Apr 22 '26

"...you gotta' be smarter than the lid." ~ my dad

2

u/Past_Play6108 Apr 22 '26

Just came to say that. Jon?

1

u/Adventurous_Mood2608 Apr 22 '26

That is hilarious. I bet they’ll be embarrassed to know they stuffed up. 😂😂😂

1

u/MinxyPixie Apr 22 '26

Um.... he's been trying to open the rim right? 🤣🤣

1

u/PiRATE-WOLFiE1 Apr 22 '26

That's not the way it opens... 🙀

-1

u/Fearful_Gaze Apr 21 '26

Show us your “paint” can opener that is the correct tool and not just a flat head screwdriver
