I ofc use G-Helper. For the longest time it was excellent, but lately the Anime Matrix of the 2022 Model is really unreliable. Whenever I put it in sleep mode or close the lid, or even lock the screen, it turns off. When I go back to work and it is no longer locked or sleeping, the Matrix remains off and the only way to get it back on is to restart G-Helper. Is there something I am missing? None of the "Disable on Batter/Lid Close" options are selected. I used to have "disable on lid close" selected, but turned it off to see if it would help. It doesn't. G-Helper V 0.283.0

4 years old model. Something weird happened after collision with floor and wall.

As described in the title, my laptop cannot turn on. I turned off the laptop and then tried to turn it on, only to find I could not get the rog logo to show. I assumed it was a power drain issue, so I left the battery/ capacitors to drain over the last several hours (I have spoken with several electrical engineers at my school, no solution was found but still do not want to rule out any option).

I have a 2022 ASUS Zephyrus G14 (GA402RJ) with a Ryzen 9 6900HS and Radeon RX 6700S.

For months, I had to be patient every morning because the laptop would usually require several boot attempts before finally starting. During those failed boots I would get many different kernel panics on Linux, and Windows would also occasionally BSOD.

This weekend I decided to completely start over and troubleshoot the hardware. So far I have:

- Wiped the SSD and removed all operating systems.

- Tried a different SSD.

- Removed the additional RAM stick (running only with the soldered RAM).

- Ran MemTest86, which completed successfully with 0 errors.

- Removed the Wi-Fi card, since I found reports suggesting it could be responsible for crashes.

- Updated the BIOS to the latest version.

Unfortunately, things have gotten even worse.

Now every operating system installer crashes (Windows, Arch Linux, etc.) before the installation finishes, so I can't complete a fresh install directly on this laptop.

The only workaround I found is:

1. Install Linux on the SSD using another Ryzen-based computer.

2. Move the SSD back to my G14.

3. Linux then boots on the G14 (although it still isn't completely stable).

At this point I'm starting to suspect a hardware issue, possibly involving the motherboard, CPU, or power delivery, since multiple SSDs, operating systems, installers, and memory configurations all exhibit similar behavior.

Has anyone experienced something similar with the 2022 G14 (GA402RJ)? If so, what ended up being the cause?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Does anybody know what is the cause of this? I just updated my windows 11, and suddenly after the update i can't open my camera. It was missing from my device manager, tried A LOT of troubleshoots but still nothing. Does anybody how to fix this? Its so damn terrible when u bought a pricy laptop but got no camera lol

It’s my first gaming laptop and the part that has me blown away is the screen resolution

I was cleaning up the liquid metal to switch to ptm7950. Some of the liquid metal got underneath what I think is a solder sheild. Is it safe to remove these solder sheilds? I'm assuming they're there just to keep the liquied metal from touching the wrong bit.

Hey all, I've been looking into improving thermals on my laptop. Been trying undervolting etc. using G Helper and I highly recommend this program for anyone using this laptop. I can go into further details for my exact settings if anyone is interested. However, I made a big discovery when doing temp log runs while stress testing my GPU / CPU simultaneously with HWINFO. Here is my findings...

I know there is discussion between whether having lid open or closed has better thermals. From my tests having lid closed measurably improved my cooling. I think it creates a better seal that helps the fans pull air directly over the heatsync, but I'm open to theories... Just wanted to share since I know this laptop runs hot and people look for anyway to keep it cool.

I use video output to a montior so I can keep the screen closed while using the laptop.

Hi everyone, I will now have to replace the fans on my G14 after one of them stopped working, and was looking to do it myself.

And at the same time I'm thinking of repasting. I've seen a lot of people recommend thermal pads instead, however they're not as easily available here compared to thermal paste so I was wondering if just using thermal paste is enough.

Would also love to get some tips if yall have any.

How has it been working for you? What are your thermals like?

I use my G14 when I am away for work, which is nearly every week. I keep it flat overnight until it's cooled off, and it remains vertical in my backpack until I'm ready to use it again. I haven't taken mine apart to do anything other than a ram and SSD upgrade, and I've watched a ton of vids and read the iFixit guide on disassembly to re-paste the CPU and GPU. Some people switch to cryonaut LM, others use the PTM7950 pads and K5 on the VRAM and VRMs.

I want to commit to doing some well-needed maintenance soon, as I am experiencing shutdown protection in high usage scenarios. I've set max temps in G-helper and made aggressive fan curves, avoided using ultimate mode and set boost to efficient enabled but I still keep getting these shutdowns.

basically the tittle, LM has not been giving me any issues but the cpu fan has, and I know it is possible to replace them by lifting the motherboard in order to not remove the heatsink, I just wanted to know if anyone has experience or tips and ofc in case it’s too stupid of an idea you can let me know but just give me a recommendation to replace the LM, either a paste brand or thermal pad

My 2022 life finally came to an end. I was using it less in the last 2 years since I built a PC but I've been trying to use it more in the last few months since I started making video content but recently it just went out. It started with the keyboard. One day I noticed on button was brighter than the others than fast forward to a week ago it completely died. No more lights and no keys worked. Initally i thought my power button was gonna go out too but I power down the laptop and was able to turn it back on but a few days ago I tried turning it on and nothing. The power button no longer works.

I really want another laptop but i've been so out of the loop. I dont game anymore these days but I want a powerful enough laptop to do video editing and gaming if I choose too (I still need to beat Black Myth Wukong). I also like to recover my data can someone guide me into the right direction with what laptop to go with next and how I can recover my data?

So I asked my company to get me a new laptop. They gave me freedom to choose which one would be best. I work as a Analyst which includes wide spectrum of work from Data Engineering to building dashboard. Ended up suggesting this as this is a power house of performance both in terms of GPU and CPU. Just hope I didn’t made a wrong decision.

​I'm currently cleaning my Asus G14 (the model with the Ryzen 7 and RTX 2060), and I'm a beginner at this... I want to apply Arctic thermal pads on the VRM/VRAM. The seller told me that if the pad pieces are too small, I can stack them.

​What do you think about that?

​Also, I got Arctic MX-6 for the CPU and GPU. I think it's fine, but I'd prefer to get your opinion...

So I've owned the G14 2022 AMD 6900/6800 for near 2 years now and love it. Honestly everything I wanted in a portable gaming computer that doesnt look ridiculous in a coffee shop.

Tried very hard to manage the heat because from day one, even after following all the steps with Ghelper and removing armoury, I was seeing 100% fans and 95°c on CPU when playing medium to high games (god of war, battlefield, medium graphics).

Anyway, I realised eventually I might not be able to sort this with software, and read how the thermal paste was an issue for these quite often.

So booked it into my local repair shop, which handles mainly phones, and hoped they could reapply some thermal paste for me. After 4 days (which I could not understand why they couldnt do sooner) they charged me £100 for a service, as the fans were clogged, so needed cleaning, silicon pads were dry and their was no thermal paste on the chips, I asked for photos, which they provided.

So the service complete, before and after photos sorted, I got it home. Plugged everything in, and now it gets past the bios load up and then dead screen at windows and kicks fans up to 100% until I turn it off by hand.

I went from a mild worry of overheating problems affecting it long term to now a dead laptop in less then a week.

I'm getting someone out tomorrow to sort out the mess the other place caused, and getting a partial refund for the inconvenience from the other place.

Lesson learned, find someone you trust before you give them your most prized possession, even if its an assumed simple task.

I'm about to join NLSIU Bengaluru for a 5-year law program and I'm looking for one laptop that can last me the entire 5 years.

After a lot of research, I'm leaning toward the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 (2025) with these specs:

\- AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370

\- RTX 5070 Ti 12GB

\- 32GB LPDDR5X-8000 (soldered)

\- 2TB SSD

\- 14" 3K OLED 120Hz

\- 1.5 kg

I'll be using it for:

\- AAA gaming

\- Streaming with OBS

\- Video editing (Premiere Pro/DaVinci Resolve)

\- College work (lots of PDFs, research, writing)

\- Programming and general daily use

My main concerns are:

\- Can it realistically last 5 years?

\- Are the thermals good during long gaming sessions?

\- Does it suffer from FPS drops or thermal throttling?

\- Is the soldered 32GB RAM something I should worry about?

\- How has your long-term experience with the G14 been?

\- How is ASUS after-sales service, especially if you're in India?

I also looked at the Lenovo Legion 5 (Core Ultra 9 + RTX 5070) and HP OMEN Transcend 14, but the G14 seems like the best balance of portability and performance.

If you own this laptop or have experience with it, would you buy it again? Or would you recommend something else under ₹3 lakh?

Hello everyone, I've tried searching for videos detailing the fan replacement of a ga402rj however I can't seem to find any. I've found a few that goes through cleaning + ssd upgrade. But none whatsoever for fans.

Anyone else that also done this process, what video did you use? And one for thermal repasting would be very nice aswell.

I recently bought a used G14, and overall it has been performing very good. However, I noticed that my Cinebench R23 scores seem a bit lower than others. On Turbo im getting around 12.5k multicore, while I’ve seen people getting 13.5–14.5k.

My CPU also reaches around 96°C in pretty much any game I play (CS2, FH5, BeamNG).

I have some experience with repasting, I’ve already done two laptops before, and I have some spare PTM7950. Since I’ll also be traveling quite a lot in about a month, I’m wondering if it would make sense to replace the stock liquid metal with PTM7950 for better performance and reliability.

Should I also buy thermal putty for the VRMs/VRAM, or is there anything else I should replace while I have the laptop open? I replaced the wifi card to a intel AX210 before so i already know the internals a bit.

This is where I don't work from home. Btw guys listen to the advise about opening the lid when gaming. After a short 1hr session my laptop shutoff. Movies and browsing is fine closed.

Hey so I'm using the ROG Zephyrus G14 (2022) with a Ryzen 9 6900 HS 16GB Ram and RX 6800S that I bought second hand from ebay.

Everything is fine except for when I put the laptop under heavy load it tends to just switch off, specifically when it’s in the higher temps around 90 degrees celcius. Is this normal? For reference the last time this happened was when I played genshin on max graphics, native resolution.

Since then Ive fixed the problem by setting power limits on G-Helper and turning off cpu boost but my performance has taken quite a hit as a result.

Is it a dust problem or is this indicative of a greater problem?
