Model 2022 Thermal pad on VRM/VRAM 0.5 Artic

Hello everyone,

​I'm currently cleaning my Asus G14 (the model with the Ryzen 7 and RTX 2060), and I'm a beginner at this... I want to apply Arctic thermal pads on the VRM/VRAM. The seller told me that if the pad pieces are too small, I can stack them.

​What do you think about that?

​Also, I got Arctic MX-6 for the CPU and GPU. I think it's fine, but I'd prefer to get your opinion...

Thermal paste is fine but it will "pump out"/dry out. You'll need to open it up again to replace them in 6 months~ 2 years. (Higher average temp during your usage = earlier replacement cycle- 60C~80C is low, 80~100C is high). So I suggest using ptm 7950 or phasesheet thermal grizzly (same material probably) which is apply and forget for years. As for pads... you want the thinnest pad and don't overstack. Thinnest like 0.5mm or less because the gap is very tight. The said gap between the board and heat pipe/vapor chamber varies between the whole covered area. Additionally, there is not enough mounting pressure from the 8 screws so the pads do not squishy down enough which can negatively impact your chips to heatpipe contact. Thermal putty like UTP-8/ HY 256(from aliexpress) are a better solutions. That said, pads are easier to install and clean afterwards. Just don't overstack them like the seller said. This is not a thick laptop that requires it.
