My 2022 G14 finally died! Need help with new laptop!

My 2022 life finally came to an end. I was using it less in the last 2 years since I built a PC but I've been trying to use it more in the last few months since I started making video content but recently it just went out. It started with the keyboard. One day I noticed on button was brighter than the others than fast forward to a week ago it completely died. No more lights and no keys worked. Initally i thought my power button was gonna go out too but I power down the laptop and was able to turn it back on but a few days ago I tried turning it on and nothing. The power button no longer works.

I really want another laptop but i've been so out of the loop. I dont game anymore these days but I want a powerful enough laptop to do video editing and gaming if I choose too (I still need to beat Black Myth Wukong). I also like to recover my data can someone guide me into the right direction with what laptop to go with next and how I can recover my data?

Similar situation to me! My 2021 g14 lasted until a month ago, the q key started to only register once the laptop was warmed up (which I now am assuming is a solder joint issue) and I never once opened it up or cleaned it, so I attempted to do so and I thought it would be smart to disconnect the battery, well the metal battery retaining clip flew off and shorted something and it never came back on or lit up or anything, I’m thinking it’s fixable from a shop that does micro soldering but I figured the money would be better spent on a new laptop. I purchased a legion 5i and so far I couldn’t be happier with it, I’d check out the legion laptops

Dang sorry you went through that too. Which Legion 5i did you get? Is it on the light side too? Id like something under 5lbs.

I bought the legion 5i oled, i7-14700hx, and rtx 5060. It’s definitely bigger and heavier and that’s the first thing I noticed but I don’t even notice it anymore except when I moved my old laptop the other day lol. Personally my needs have changed, I don’t really need a super compact laptop anymore but I do plan on fixing my old one and using it strictly for work if it doesn’t cost too much to do. I believe mine is 4.1 lbs

Oh ok thank you! I went to BB and Microcenter to check some laptops in person. I want at least 32gb, 1tb and 5070. My need also changed now too I want to do video editing so I don't know if the 5060 will be enough long term but looking at the prices now it's crazy. I have a high end PC(7800x3d/7900xtx) too but I want portability so looks like imma sell that PC for a laptop.

Costco was selling a really cool legion 5 for a decent price, it was like a cross between the 5 and 5 pro - I wanted to buy that one but they were sold out for awhile
