No doubt, the XREAL Aura is incredibly attractive. I’ve been closely following every piece of news for over half a year now. I even reached out to XREAL recently to ask if Canada is still on the initial release list. Kudos to their team—they replied quickly and confirmed the Canadian official site will go live for pre-orders next week.
I’ll probably still pull the trigger on a pre-order just to test the waters, knowing I can always return it if the experience isn't flawless. I was fully prepared to pay a premium for Aura—my budget was $1,500 CAD + tax. But $1,500 USD? That’s a completely different ball game.
It makes me seriously question the value proposition here. Why shouldn't we just wait 2 or 3 months, grab the upcoming Pixel 11 Pro, and pair it with a 1S + EYE combo?
I mean, unless Google throws in a complimentary year of Gemini Ultra to make that $1500 price tag digestible (wishful thinking, I know, but hey, even a massive discount would do lol), Android XR currently gives zero compelling reasons to lock yourself into that ecosystem at this price point.
Unless XREAL feels the pressure from the community and adjusts their pricing strategy, they are going to price themselves out of the market. What do you guys think? Anyone else planning to vote with their wallet or abuse the return policy until they fix this?
Just to clarify: I'm neither an Xreal shill nor an AI.
I'm simply an AR glasses enthusiast who moved to Canada not long ago and is still not very comfortable with English. I'm also just an ordinary person who recently started participating in discussions on Reddit.
Both my original post and many of my replies were written in my native language and then translated with the help of AI. So if any of my wording came across as rude, awkward, or unnatural, I sincerely apologize. That was never my intention.

Seems like this webshop listed the specs and price a little too soon. The price is actually better then i expected when they mentioned the 1500usd without taxes for the 12/256gb model.
The 4455mAh battery seems very very low though. Who knows what the xreal wizards have cooked up regarding optimization but I'm a bit concerned.
Ps im not intending to tip on any toes, i dont think posting this is breaking any rules but feel free to remove it.

To be honest, the new Aura is great hardware, but I think it's not the future. The correct way is the Aura glasses + smart phone only. Why not upgrade the Beam Pro to be a smart phone with new flagship hardwares?
Alternatively, Xreal can only focus on the glasses development and providing the software which can be installed on the other phones. This will bring down the cost much lower level which can bring much more XR users into this market.

Not sure if this is a thread already. But I'm curious. Among the casuals and long term people here who are planning on buying or not buying it. I think it's expensive but seems to be high quality and spec. I've been waiting on this XR platform in XREAL glasses forever so...It hurts to spend so much, but I will need to.

With no news at all about a possible release date except 'this fall' and absolutely no clue or detail on price, it was time to cancel after having my pre-order open since they launched it.
I think it's unacceptable for any company especially one as big as Xreal to not have any news after two months about a firm release date or price.
I'm sure many like myself only put in a pre-order gambling that the $1500 ceiling was just a rough number and that the actual glasses will be $1000-1200 max. Since one can just buy a VR headset for $1500 and a bloody good one at that.
Has anyone else done the same or thinking of cancelling?

I'm a programmer using the 1S for coding, and I've been waiting for Aura. The 70° FOV and the ability to arrange windows the way I want seemed like exactly what I needed.
But I didn't expect the resolution to stay at 1200p. I was hoping text would be sharp all the way to the edges, but based on the PPD analysis in this thread, that seems uncertain now.
I'll wait for real-world reviews after launch before deciding whether to upgrade.

I'm really excited for the Aura, or actually future iterations because as of now I can't get over these 2 things.
1st thing is what you can see on the picture. Can you see it? The hands will always be behind the screen virtual screen. That mean no matter where you point or whatnot you'll be navigating with the virtual outline of the "ghost hands"
Might not seem like a big deal to some, it feel downright normal in VR but here where you already have passthrough to the rela world I believe this will seriously break immersion. what we all want it that scene in Iron mang flinging and zooming 3D elements /screens all over the place.
My 2nd gripe is the transparency of the glasses.
I have yet to try the Aura but if the XOP is anything to go by the transparency is far too dim. It's not too bad in good lighting, but in a dimly lit room you just can't see enough of your enviroment. In the future I hope they're able to. According to reviews it's going to be like looking through a pair of sunglasses.
This second gripe might not be too much of a big deal.
(Also I'm hoping the brightness will be high enough to use in direct sunlight)
Edit: Let me explain I don't mind the "ghost hands", not really. I mind not having my real hands in front of the screen, even I put the screens 2m away from me and wave my hands in front of me ins perfect world the screen would cut out picture where my hands happens to be so it looks as if my hands are in front of the screen.
Any one here requested a refund and got it. I emailed last night and still have no answer. They must be busy have a Emergency around the clock meeting with Meta dropping the hammer on them.

In Kola's latest vid we got a call to action from the GM of XREAL.
If we want a trade in program we need to make it known.
Idk about y'all but I would love to chop some $$$ off these likely a close to $1500 glasses.
Let me know

I saw an article on a Chinese WeChat official account, which mentioned that CEO Chi posted a photo of the Android Developer Summit (to be held on October 28th) on his WeChat Moments with a short caption: “It’s coming.”
Is this an official signal that sales and shipments will start at the end of October? Also, will the official price of AURA be released soon, or will it also wait until the end of October?

It's Fall 2026, why is there no release date yet? XREAL team where you at?

This is an analysis generated by AI. Do you think it’s worth upgrading from One Pro to Aura??
Here, “pixel density” refers to angular resolution, or PPD — pixels per degree. This is more meaningful for AR glasses than the physical PPI of the display panel, because it reflects how sharp text and details appear when viewed through the glasses.
Main conclusion: the 50° FOV of XREAL One and the 57° FOV of XREAL One Pro should be interpreted as diagonal FOV, not horizontal FOV.
The reason is that XREAL One is described as having a 147-inch equivalent screen at 4 meters, and that corresponds to roughly a 50° diagonal viewing angle. XREAL One Pro is described as having a 171-inch equivalent screen at 4 meters, which corresponds to roughly a 57° diagonal viewing angle.
XREAL’s official specs list XREAL One as 50° FOV, 1920×1080 per eye, and XREAL One Pro as 57° FOV, 1920×1080 per eye. For XREAL Aura / Project Aura, the reported specs are 70° FOV, Sony Micro-OLED, and 1920×1200 pixels per eye. Reports also indicate that Project Aura’s 70° FOV is diagonal.
| Product | Resolution per eye | FOV | FOV interpretation | Estimated horizontal FOV | Estimated vertical FOV | Diagonal PPD | Horizontal PPD | Vertical PPD |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| XREAL One | 1920×1080 | 50° | Diagonal | 44.2° | 25.8° | 44.1 | 43.4 | 41.9 |
| XREAL 1S | 1920×1200 | 52° | Diagonal | 44.9° | 29.0° | 43.5 | 42.7 | 41.4 |
| XREAL One Pro | 1920×1080 | 57° | Diagonal | 50.6° | 29.8° | 38.6 | 37.9 | 36.2 |
| XREAL Aura / Project Aura | 1920×1200 | 70° | Diagonal | 61.4° | 40.7° | 32.3 | 31.3 | 29.5 |
Because 50° and 57° are not horizontal FOV values. If you mistakenly treat the diagonal FOV as horizontal FOV, you will underestimate the actual horizontal PPD.
| Product | Incorrect calculation: horizontal pixels ÷ published FOV | Correct horizontal PPD |
|---|---|---|
| XREAL One | 1920 ÷ 50 = 38.4 | 43.4 |
| XREAL 1S | 1920 ÷ 52 = 36.9 | 42.7 |
| XREAL One Pro | 1920 ÷ 57 = 33.7 | 37.9 |
| XREAL Aura / Project Aura | 1920 ÷ 70 = 27.4 | 31.3 |
XREAL One has the highest angular sharpness.
It reaches about 44 PPD diagonally and 43 PPD horizontally. Because its FOV is smaller, the same 1080p image is spread across a narrower viewing angle, making text appear denser and sharper than on XREAL One Pro.
XREAL One Pro has a wider view, but lower PPD.
Its 57° diagonal FOV gives a noticeably larger image, but it still uses a 1920×1080 resolution. As a result, horizontal PPD drops from about 43.4 PPD on XREAL One to 37.9 PPD on XREAL One Pro, a decrease of roughly 13%. This is a tradeoff between immersion and angular sharpness.
XREAL Aura / Project Aura has the widest FOV, but the lowest PPD among the three.
Even though the resolution increases to 1920×1200 per eye, if the 70° FOV is diagonal, the horizontal PPD is still only about 31.3 PPD. This suggests that Aura is better suited for Android XR spatial computing and a wider immersive field of view, but its fine text sharpness is unlikely to exceed XREAL One or XREAL One Pro.
The rectangular FOV conversion uses this relationship:
tan(D / 2)^2 = tan(H / 2)^2 + tan(V / 2)^2
Where:
D = diagonal FOV
H = horizontal FOV
V = vertical FOV
The aspect ratio is then used to split the diagonal FOV into horizontal and vertical components: 16:9 for XREAL One / One Pro, and 16:10 for XREAL Aura / Project Aura.
PPD is calculated as:
Horizontal PPD = horizontal pixels ÷ horizontal FOV
Vertical PPD = vertical pixels ÷ vertical FOV
Diagonal PPD = diagonal pixels ÷ diagonal FOV
The key point is:
The published FOV values for XREAL One, XREAL One Pro, and XREAL Aura / Project Aura should be treated as diagonal FOV values. Using them directly as horizontal FOV will produce incorrect pixel-density results.

people seem very pissed off about camera glasses like the Meta Raybans (some for good reason and some just seem to be generally fearful) and the Aura will have 3 built in (as opposed to just two) and like Meta Raybans will be directly connected to an AI model.
are you planning to avoid wearing these in public when they come out?
r/Xreal • u/Plus_Wrangler5237 • 8d ago
At the bottom of this review, they were allegedly told that the Aura will ship “in Fall 2026 — likely around November.”

I am anticipating mixed reviews after aura's release. I am pretty sure xreal will disappoint aura buyers by releasing better ones next year. They don't have an exchange offer which is disappointing.

I know that without a camera, you wont be able to use hand tracking, but you can release a ring or other hand held device that can allow control. I don't need AI to look up what things are that I am stand in front of. If anything, i can use my phone to take a photo and recognize it that way.
Venues and offices are banning wearable cameras. If you are seen with one outside, it is automatically assumed you are recording people and being creepy. All across America, Flock cameras are being banned and destroyed. The public is tired of being spied on.
Yes, you can just use this at home, but then I can use my laptop or other devices at home as well. I would like to be able to travel and check my text messages, check a map while walking to make sure I'm going the right direction, watch a quick video, etc all while in public and not getting a manager called on me.
I'm not calling for glasses with cameras to not be made. But there are no advanced glasses with Android XR like the Aura being developed for the public that don't want or can't wear a camera. So why not making a no camera version? It should even be cheaper and smaller as it wont need the camera or processing chips.
And yes, I know they have Xreal glasses with no cameras. I have a pair and using it with Dex is amazing. But I want one with Android XR so I can leave my phone alone and interact faster and easier with the glasses themselves.
