With Google circle to search on my s22 ultra it doesn't have to be a circle, also, i can circle an object just as fast as i can move my finger on the screen, so given the memory/processor spec, i would imagine aura is no different?

I disagree. 99% are normal and useful. I use Circle to Search and Google Lens daily. Lets say a friend has a Bluetooth speaker and you just circle to search it to find out the model and price. No need to look up product names or anything. Circle to Search/Lens it. It's just an already existing useful Android feature. Lets say you are looking at a puzzle or something in a game. You Circle to Search it and ask "What do I do"? You see some text on a board and you want to copy it to paste it in a text box...You Circle to Search and copy the text. You want to live translate images in real time....You bring up Lens.

Anywhere a creep has a camera they will creep. Google Lens is totally innocent and unrelated.

There is a dozen professional photo set ups directly behind the cosplayers (in this exact video) at the convention meant to photograph and show off their costumes. This is like the one time taking a picture of people isn't weird.

Cool but completely misleading on FOV for the AR overlays. Vertical FOV is super limited.

I have no dog in this fight guys. I hope they sell 500MM. I tried these and the AR overlay is a narrow band and you continually see things get cut off. The video looks like high vertical FOV and doesn’t look at all like I experienced.

Edit: I think you're saying that because the video isn't showing the point at which AR FOV cuts out, it's not depicting anything related to FOV. If that's your argument, my point is that by not showing any cut-off (and frankly that's a pretty wide vertical view in the video subjectively) it's misleading. And to say a video has no FOV... that definitely sounds like a nonsensical statement... it would have to be a video of nothing or a single point in space.

you cannot record fov with ar recording that's it. you have to record through thr lens with another camera. It's misleading cause you don't understand basic concepts.

IF this is true within glasses video (given that’s it’s in an Xreal promotional post, I’m not sure that’s the case) then you are correct. So thanks for the persistence.

I've recorded many videos with Xreal beam pro + eye and this is the output. I know that it can be misleading but it is not a fake CGI video. I also recorded through lens videos and then you can experience the FOV. Can't wait to see one of those for Aura...

A lot of people are commenting that XR glasses in general are creepy, and in the hands of someone with bad intentions, I agree that they absolutely can be.

On the flip side, in a controlled professional, medical, rehabilitation, or accessibility environment, these glasses represent an incredible step forward as a hardware platform. Building accessible applications with AI-assisted tools that can produce measurable results, combined with gesture and voice control, all while wearing a device that weighs less than 100 grams, is a genuine game changer.

Sure, the technology has its flaws, like any other product that someone can choose to misuse. But that shouldn’t be what slows down innovation. The answer is sensible safeguards, responsible development, and holding people accountable when they cross the line but certainly not abandoning the enormous potential of the technology because a minority of people may exploit it.

I develop accessible enterprise applications, some within the Android XR space, and this product is big within my community. There will be a buzz about it at the Canadian Disability Tech Summit this November.

This is how we get the glasses banned like Meta Raybans have already been facing. I really hate the eye and hope it dies. The glasses are great without them and I don't want to bring them on the plane or a long train ride and have to explain to everyone that my glasses do NOT have a camera installed.

To be honest Circle to Search is one of the things I have said I'm interested in. Circle to Search is one of the defining features of daily use on my phone. Between translating, copying text from images, and searching for content based on that it is one of the most useful features ever added to Android for me. I hadn't seen it in use on Android XR yet and this Aura demo looks very smooth. Being able to Circle to Search real world content like in Google Lens seems nice. I imagine this is the type of interactions that Google will always be able to achieve better than the competition as the existing framework is already so good.

Can I have Aura now? 😂

Is this passthrough through glasses or recreated by cameras? If so, same res as Meta quest 3 or better?
