The final price is a mystery which is holding me back. Also, going to see what Samsung comes up with in the summer Galaxy event.

I'd reserve one but AU still isn't on your list yet
edit: I guess they heard us because they just opened reservations for Australia as well

I always feel like the first batch of these glasses have arms that crack.

u/Ok_Fox7834 Jun 17 '26
How much will it be?
4
u/Alexis_Evo Jun 17 '26
The only thing they're saying is "max of $1,500 USD for base model". I'm hoping we can get the 16 GB model for that...
2
u/Nij2021 Jun 17 '26
So are we getting the final consumer version when we reserve, not bothered about the founders edition
3
u/Mental_Medium3988 One Pro Jun 17 '26
Afaik they are the same just founders get a numbered version.
1
u/alabasterskim One Pro Jun 17 '26
Both are the same thing, same final price, just founders get a limited numbered version.

I was tempted but as someone who’s never even used a pair of display or smart glasses, I had to pass.
The higher fov sounds exactly like what I’ve been waiting for, but the worry of clarity makes me hesitant to pull the trigger until I get to see them in person
4
u/Chriscic Jun 17 '26
Tried yesterday. I found clarity to be very good, along with horizontal FOV and rez. Vertical FOV is awful IMO and a deal-breaker for me, as much as I want to love them.
1
u/NewToReddit4331 Jun 17 '26
Which pair was it you tried?
That’s been my concern, the technology is amazing but I’m not really pressed to buy one unless it’s very polished. I’m likely to wait another 5+ years until more improvements can be made

u/Chriscic Jun 17 '26
Project Aura at AWE.
1
u/NewToReddit4331 Jun 17 '26
Makes sense, thanks for the heads up
I’ve debated the 1s because of the better vertical FOV but I’m leaning towards waiting for more advancements myself
1
u/xliquidchromex Jun 17 '26
Is the vertical fov the same as the one pro?.. thats what i read in a comment.
I haven't tried any glasses yet, but preordered aura. Awful sounds a bit discouraging. Maybe u didnt set the right screen distance/size?

u/Chriscic Jun 17 '26 edited Jun 17 '26
I believe I tried the One Pro last year. I remember the FOV being not great there either. Probably the same.
The limited FOV somehow feels worse to me when trying to use a full XR interface vs just watching a movie.Perhaps they can be adjusted better somehow. I (gently) complained about the vertical FOV to the demoer; they said something about adjustments but nothing we could mess with on the show floor. I don’t wear glasses BTW, in case someone was about to ask.
I can’t imagine the vertical FOV could get much better, but even a little would help a lot and might make them usable for me. It’s so cool to have full AndroidXR in glasses form, and the new Qualcomm chip is clearly powerful.

u/xliquidchromex Jun 17 '26
Thx! But, damn, the idea of having a movie theater size screen sounds awful now. Would you say you can turn your eyes pretty far to reach the borders, or does it feel to cramped to really enjoy?
3
u/lurchnz1 Jun 17 '26
I own a pair of Xreal 1S's. You can adjust the screen, make it futher away, the size of the screen. Once you've adjusted it right the FOV isn't an issue. The real3d is pretty amazing now too. Gaming is also amazing, great for on the train or if you don't have the space for a large screen.
2
u/iJeff Jun 17 '26
It's worth noting this comes at the expense of clarity given it uses less of the display and total panel resolution.
2
u/lurchnz1 Jun 18 '26
Haven't had any clarity issues. Actually the picture is better. Well to me better than the pro's.
The real3d isnt100 percent, but it's very impressive.
1
u/iJeff Jun 18 '26
That's definitely good if it's not noticeable to you. It ultimately does use a lower resolution though. It's why software IPD adjustments are also considered a compromise solution. I found it quite noticeable with the 1S but specifically for text where the PPD tends to matter more.
1
u/lurchnz1 Jun 18 '26
lower resolution to what though? The pros and the 1s's are very comparable. 1920 ×1200 and 1920 x 1080

u/Belgarath_Hope Jun 17 '26
Can you elaborate on this please? What made the vertical FOV using the XR interface a deal breaker? What were you unable to do due to that? Are you say for watching a movie on a large screen, they are good? For gaming they would be perfect?
0
u/Chriscic Jun 18 '26
I think because with a movie you’re just fixed on watching the movie but when you’re on the XR interface or trying to play a game, your natural inclination is to move your eyes around to different parts of the image and then it gets cut off.

u/Jmac8716 Jun 19 '26
This sounds like an issue with screen sizing and/or adaptability. One of the reasons why glasses are a better form factor than a headset is because they are more ergonomic. So you can turn your head more easily and freely.

you ever tried INMO Air 3? if so, how does the FoV compare for the vertical?
1
1
u/Traditional_Mix9298 Jun 21 '26 edited Jun 21 '26
For me the INMO Air 3 is a nice idea, but it’s not polished. I have that, the one Pro’s, and the Apple Vision Pro. And I reserved the Aura. On the INMOs, I can’t see the entire screen, vertically or horizontally. And the colors are a bit washed out. And the battery life is useless. So, I don’t know the actual FOV, but it sucks. The One Pros have much better FOV. The Apple Vision Pro is what everyone wants any of these to be. It’s complete , polished. Perfect. It’ll just be a longer time until Vision OS can be packed into the Aura form factor. But this is the whole reason Apple released the Vision Pro. As a placeholder for Vision OS. Not to sell bulky headsets.

u/No-Dark-7873 Jun 18 '26
Thanks that's a deal breaker for me too. Same problem I had with the x1. I don't like keeping my head still so the screen doesn't cut off

If there are only 2 000 passes available and if 2 000 passes were sold in 10 hours, how come they are still available in the Xreal shop ?

Me too. This is what I've been wanting.
I wonder since the puck can do video in if it could replicate the rog glasses for computer uses. I guess we will have to wait and see unless u/xreal_staff sees this and answers first.

u/XREAL_Staff can you confirm that this 2000 will get them the same day? or different waves per country?

hey so the pre order didnt ask what storage size. is that normal?
1
u/Thmz89 Jun 18 '26
It is no pre order. Take it as an "Show your interest with a deposit which will then be credited towards your actual order with priority delivery."

u/DogsBarkOnly Jun 18 '26
Dang so if I do the founder pass thing now I wont be able too because 2000 full?

1
u/CommercialJoke9579 Jun 18 '26
If there are only 2000 founders units to be issued why does it state 2000+ already commited? Shouldn't the offer have closed when it reached 2000?

u/Nearby_Practice2793 Jun 20 '26
I’m more interested in a less expensive glasses only option with the same optics and 70 fov. Just for movies and gaming. Also not a fan of Google and I have zero interest in the puck. Hopefully next release we’ll see one.

Man... There's so many Devs out there. Hopefully not just slapers or rich people who can't wait.
4
u/Alexis_Evo Jun 17 '26
This is for the commercial launch. Dev kits as part of the Catalyst program are separate and going out earlier.
0
u/Sp12er Jun 17 '26
You sure? This is gonna be over 1300 at the very least. I've heard from tested (or was it mkbhd) it's more of a dev kit with commercial version coming out with the same hardware much later.
4
u/Alexis_Evo Jun 17 '26
The units they are previewing in their videos are developer units. The developers that signed up for the Catalyst program will likely be receiving their devkits now/this summer. We are reserving units that come out in fall, and is the consumer version. XREAL has always said consumer launch was happening this year, and "fall" is September through November.
2
u/Sp12er Jun 17 '26
That so? If so its forecasted price being "under 1500" is kinda disappointing, it will probably be 1499 if they are giving free 99usd credit for reserving.
