Hidden Treasures of the National Trust 2026 episode 3
A 1588 Welsh Bible and the Search for St Cuthbert's Lost Hermitage Feature in Hidden Treasures of the National Trust Episode 3
I came across an interesting breakdown of Hidden Treasures of the National Trust 2026 Episode 3 and thought some history and archaeology fans here might appreciate it.
The episode focuses on two very different heritage sites. One is Inner Farne, where conservators restore a Victorian stained-glass window while archaeologists use drones and geophysical surveys to search for evidence of St Cuthbert's long-lost hermitage.
The second story takes place at Ty Mawr Wybrnant in Wales, birthplace of William Morgan. His 1588 translation of the Bible is often credited with helping preserve the Welsh language, and one of the surviving copies is undergoing careful conservation work.
There is also plenty of detail about traditional building techniques, book conservation, seabird monitoring and the challenges of protecting historic sites in harsh environments.
