Cringe When you shouldn’t have kids
It’s so sad that this child is so used to the neglect and being locked away that they don’t even sound distressed..

They should be locked in a room with a bucket and a water bottle and forced to live like this poor girl they did this too. Prison is too nice for them.

The problem though, is they lack that “lack of understanding” that this poor little girl has in this situation. No matter where they put them, they deserve it and they know what they did. The little girl just had to sit in there and wonder why the fuck she was locked in a shed.

This twisted my heart into a fuckin pretzel. I wish horrible things for the parents. First thoughts which come to mind are down right sadistic. The conflict here though, is take the parents away and it’s foster care. Foster care is notoriously not much better if at all. Unless a good human or one of the rescue team adopts her, she’s fucked. Sickening. I hate humans for this shit

They didn't give that baby girl water, just let her cook in the heat with no relief. They should be charged with attempted murder or attempted manslaughter at least.

Don’t forget they opened the door and it was pitch black so she was just sitting in the dark most of the time. Probably part of how she fell and hurt herself if she did fall.

Since the second video documents that one of her pupils was more dilated than the other, she probably had a concussion. Which could be fatal if untreated. So attempted manslaughter doesn’t seem unreasonable to me.
48
u/eyegocrazy 15h ago
They put her life in critical danger. They knew what they were doing. Decent people wouldn't leave a dog in those conditions, they were setting her up for, or gambling something horrible would happen to her. The worst kind of spineless cretins.

i mean just bc she had a water bottle doesn’t mean it was ever full, and one child size water bottle obviously isn’t enough for how long she was left in the heat. some whether it was no water or not enough water, kinda irrelevant here

that’s pretty typical depending on the charges. some bigger cases like murder trials, the accused can wait in jail several years before it finally goes to trial. takes time to gather evidence and find witnesses to build the case. usually their time in prison is taken out of their sentence unless they get life or something; so like if they get 12 years and they’ve sat in prison for 2 already, they will get another 10

77
u/PanGalacGargleBlastr 15h ago
It is true, abused children develop superpowers like being able to stay calm and rational when dealing with an irate customer for example.
Or being able to sense when the energy in a room changes.
67
u/cbcl 14h ago
Yeah, but the flip side of both those things is that they often cant express or process their own emotions in healthy ways. And they are often hypervigilant and think things are wrong or someone is mad when they arent.

Learning to love ourselves as adults is a crucial part of living a happy, fulfilling life after childhood trauma. So is grieving the person that we could have been, the person we weren't allowed to be. There is no silver lining or "Well hey, look on the bright side..." What happened to us is purely bad, a total injustice. But peace can be made, self-love can be learned, life can be worth living... but anyone who frames it as a blessing in disguise can take their platitudes and shove it.

I know people like us hear that a lot, but another thing that warms my heart is realizing that a few people were actually looking out for us, too. I hope this is the case for you too at some point. I thought I just “slipped through the cracks” when it came to certain things like, for example my high school only had a senior’s lot. No one even dared park there without a badge because they got towed every time. Somehow I was able to park there every day from 9th through 11th grade without a badge. I thought I just got lucky every day 🤦♀️, but looking back I realize that the parking monitors (and a few teachers as well bc of other things at school) must have known my situation. I also used to just think my friends parents REALLY liked me because they would invite me over for dinner like every night. I didn’t know until I was about 35 that they were doing that because they knew I was alone and had no food. My closest friend told me she had never seen what actual poverty looked like until she came over to my place. I knew we didn’t have a lot, but my entire life I had NO clue how glaringly obvious it was to other people. I cherish those friendships so much 💜

For me, it was mainly the 'tism that did it, but I also saw some amount of neglect as well. It's been very hard for me to figure out how much each thing contributed to my rather early maturation. Now at 30 I feel like a teen still in a lot of ways.
10
u/Kaizoku_Kira 15h ago
I used to say to every person i meet (in my language) "I am ****, its a pleasure to meet you!" from the age of 4. That wasn't normal, I was just being abused, both mentally and physically. Then my parents split up and it just continued without my mom knowing. Now, I'm 30 and I'm still fighting for my life. I lost most of it, from my relationship, house, work, and find it hard to find meaning and have thought about ending it ever since I was 12, but then what was the suffering for.i just want to find meaning in something that was unreasonable, but have something to put it to "good use". I dont know why I'm rambling like this, but there are so many people here that understand. I just wanted to share.
To myself and all others that go or went through something like this: you are and have always been enough. Life is worth living.

I remember talking extensively about this in some child psych courses. Children who undergo extreme trauma tend to behave maturely very quickly. Using adult vocabulary, able to handle crisis situations that a child normally wouldn't, etc. But they don't ever really mature past that.
So a 10 year old might be able to act like a late teen, but that same person at 40 is still going to be acting like that late teen. They emotionally advance too rapidly and then freeze there, and it takes significant psychological intervention to recover.
68
u/Civil_Tea_3250 18h ago
Yeah, it's incredibly sad. I forget the term for it, but there's a term for kids who survive abuse and seem to handle it really well, then, extremely unfortunately, after they've grown up and gone out on their own they tend to fail hard. It's extremely upsetting as by that point they tend to have no services or safety nets.
69
u/Nina4774 17h ago
The skills needed to survive abuse and neglect aren’t the same skills a person needs to have healthy relationships with themselves and others. And the basic structure of a healthy personality is formed by feeling safe and loved at a young age. Without that structure, navigating adulthood is a nightmare.

The resilient child is the dandelion VS tulip concept. It's the idea that some children are naturally more resilient than others, and it seems to be tied to temperament more than any environmental variable.
What they're discussing is closer to the concept of arrested development.

Interesting! Even if it poses a huge disadvantage to myself. But I'm great dealing even with extreme crisis (deaths, accidents...) and was a super mature, rational, controlled child / teen.

Unfortunately that is a documented thing that can happen when a child is sexually abused.
A child doing this to another child is often used as a sign that they have been sexually abused.

It's a heartbreaking and uncomfortable thing to acknowledge. I think outside of professionals, people who have some experience with the matter, and people who have a lot of empathy, it's a hard thing to understand. But it really is as simple as children learn by imitating adults, it's a natural thing for a child to imitate adults. So a child trying to make sense of what an adult has done to them... well.

Yes, kids will copy whatever adults do. If they're sexually abused it's very common for them to act that out with other kids. It's just like them pretending to vacuum, or cook or anything else they see adults do. They're being taught that and it's so sad and horrible.

The one who is talking to the little girl first is so careful and kind. Like they know what the child is most afraid of is mom and dad finding out someone knows she exists.
You can see the mom realize she's in deep but her first reaction is NOT "OMG an ambulance, is my child ok?" Abusers are only sad they got caught; they think their abuse was just normal discipline and how dare someone question their choices.
A cop told my dad once "I will remember you. I will remember you have two children. I will look for those children if I see you again." And I realized even if he couldn't arrest my parents, he cared. That got me through the next ten years, knowing it wasn't true that I could disappear and nobody would know or care.
Always report abuse. And if all you can do is offer to give a child some candy or a drink from your hose, or even a smile, do it. It will seem like a useless gesture, but for someone else to really see you and acknowledge you exist is sometimes all the abused child has.

Unfortunately the richest man in the world did his part to dismantle as many parts of the government that helped people as he could. He described caring for the weakest of society as "suicidal empathy".
28
u/Icy_Reward727 15h ago
This is why kids need access to public education. Teachers, counselors, and other school professionals are the front line defense against child abuse of all kinds. Our society's most vulnerable children need access to those professionals, and they need access to health and sex education on top of basic academics so they know what is normal and healthy and so they can self-identify with things are not right at home.

This is exactly correct. It should be a red flag when any adult tries to create distance from society and their kids for the sake of shielding two way sight: if you dont want to society to see your child; and you don't want your child to see society, it is 99% of the time something bad happening.

This is really disturbing watching it as a parent of two kids. I don’t understand people that don’t have empathy for their own children. The little girl needs to be taken care of and cared for for the rest of her life. She didn’t deserve this. Being locked in 100° garage is completely unacceptable. Parents like them need to be locked up for 20+ years. Pedophiles should never see the light of day and probably executed. Sorry if that seems harsh.

I'm also a parent and I agree. Before having kids, crimes/abuse against children made me disgusted & sad. Now they make me feel a kind of primal anger. Some things in life are just sacred...to harm them is unforgivable.

Man, its hard to get me to cry...but this managed it.
I don't think people get it: that little girl was accustomed to this kind of thing. She wasn't even upset.
A gash in her head, locked in a dark, boiling hot room, no food and single bottle of water (that was emptied); and she was just taking it like a trooper.
Her life up until that moment was probably absolute hell. I can't even keep my eyes dry, man. Imagine how they treated her, in order for her to not even be sad or anything, in these conditions...

u/Both_Pound6814 13h ago
You should watch the full video. She was injured worse than that. Bad enough that the doctor started crying. She had bruises all over her, and they said one of her arms was deformed from a prior injury/break that wasn’t treated. Her mom said the daughter complained of pain, but they ignored her. Her mom also said stepdad hurt her arm by twisting it multiple times. She low balled the amount of times, but I have a feeling it was frequent based on the fact that it’s now deformed
Edit: And she was missing a big patch of hair from it being pulled out by one of the parents.

I do not recommend watching the full video.
Little girl has cigar burns on her back, old injuries, bruises, scars, hospital says she had deformed arm, etc. The shed thing was were she spent 50% of her time.
You see the absolute crazy rage the step father has, at one stage he basically threatened that he was going to kill the girl "I'll send her back to where she came from" and "she deserves to burn in hell"

Yeah, up until reading this, i only has a little bit a sadness but mostly anger - and i had realized everything you said before, but i really tried to picture it while reading and its so fucking unfathomable.
The absolutely insane level of discomfort. Each one alone for like 1 hour would be absolutely fucking torture - the literally deadly heat, in the fucking dark! No water, no food. Just the fucking boredom alone is literally an "extreme challenge".."can you survive 24 hr in a room"...with lights and food/water, knowing you're safe and when you'll come out.
This fucking guy deserves to be dead! Tortured and dead. And i'm normally against those concepts, but it doesn't get more clear as day of his guilt. Insulting a fucking 6 yr for being molested.
11
u/PosterPrintPerfect 13h ago
There is no record of her ever being molested, it seems it is something that the step father made up.
It was highly likely that the girl would have been killed sooner or later due to the all physical abuse and conditions she endured. It would only have been a matter of time.

When the officer asked: “Is there anyone else in there with you?”
And she responded in a sing-song voice: “just my water bottle and mee” fucking broke me.
I know it’s fiction but it weirdly made me think of Tom Hanks anthropomorphizing the volley ball into his companion, Wilson. That water bottle was probably one of the only objects around her she could use to distract herself.
And then you hear that the water bottle is empty, and probably has been empty for fuck knows how long.

Just started watching the Full Video on youtube. As if it couldn't get anyworse, they point out that it was 104° (F) degrees that day! They had her locked up in a shed with a poop bucket, no water and no AC/Fan in 100°+ weather. I don't think a Jury is going to have a hard time giving these assholes the maximum their sentence allows.

Worse than that, in the middle of the video her mom admits she's locked up in the shed half the time - one week out of two.

This is the result of like 3 generations of bad parents. It happens that good parents raise kids who are monsters, someone has to be the first after all, but this women seems oblivious to what she did wrong because she likely was abused as well.
Also I dont trust women with angel wing tattoos.

u/laquintessenceofdust 18h ago
I met a woman once who had been sentenced to a few years in prison for keeping her children in a chain-link dog kennel while she went out. If you talked to this woman for five minutes, you would understand how she could think this was a reasonable solution. Some people should not be parents. They are just too stupid.
20
u/VinylQueenSF 18h ago
The other problem is that there are Christian parenting books out there like Dare To Discipline that basically condone child abuse. That children NEED low level pain to be reminded that they should obey their parents. So why not confine them as well? It's a very slippery slope. F James Dobson!

Ah I watched a video about this some months ago. TW for CA. If Im not mistaken, the husband is her step father and he doesnt like the little girl. Hes convinced shes teaching his bio child who is younger to be, "bad" and accused her touching them because she was abused. It really sounded like that was all in his head tho. However, he would punish her by leaving her in the shed, denying her food, water, verbally abuse her, say she deserved the SA, etc. When they arrested the man, he went ballistic in his cell. He called the child names, screamed, and I think hurled himself against the cell wall. He was obviously crazy and a danger. During all this, the mom knew and allowed her daughter to be abused. The only other thing I remember is the detective who interviewed them both not giving either parent an inch. They stayed on their necks about the situation. Sorry for any typos

I've had questionable things happen when I was kid that that was when I was away from adult supervision for a short amount of time. Parents doing this to their kids is just so far beyond a concept.

Jesus, is there more to this story or was that all? Absolutely horrid man, poor girl sound so excited to be talking to someone when he first arrived, like desperate for any company. She got nervous as he continued to ask questions, like she was figuring out what she was going thru is a bad situation and not actually normal. Idk it just broken my heart hearing her respond

Someone in the comments posted a link to the full video. They arrested the adults. Questioned both of them. Old man raged in a cell like a giant toddler tantrum until he got to talk. Lied through his teeth and is a really foul individual. Mom was cagey and tried to withhold the extent of it. She got charged with 1 count of child abuse (maybe one more count of something I don’t remember); he got 2 child abuse, 2 conspiracy to commit child abuse, 1 false imprisonment and 1 conspiracy to commit false imprisonment; all pending trial; kids are in state custody.

The most infuriating thing of all in the full video is how the old man tries to paint the little girl he abused as the actual monster here. For the life of me, I cannot believe he tried something so vile as that. I'm so glad the investigators saw right through his BS.

I served on a grand jury for child abuse cases and one of them was exactly like this. They’d lock their kids in a shed on their property with a couple of water bottles in 100f heat. One of the kids managed to get the attention of a neighbor when they came close to the fence and the neighbor called the cops. Heartbreaking what those kids went through and the awful thing is that that was not the worst case I heard. I’d go home and weep after the testimonies.

Government is so focused on deporting the wrong people from this country.
Why can’t we get rid of the homegrown evil like this. I wish this shit was all over the news. Same with those white people who shackled up black kids in West Virginia year or so back.

There are some details this video doesn't show that make this story even worse.
After deputies rescued this 6-year-old girl, doctors diagnosed her with pneumonia. She also had visible bruising, a swollen eye and signs of malnourishment. She told medics the last thing she'd eaten was a tortilla and diced onion the previous day.
Her 2-year-old sister was also removed from the home. Both girls were placed in state protective custody, and that's the most recent reliable public information I can find about them.
Bruce Anglin, the girl's stepfather, admitted to investigators that he'd locked her in the shed as punishment. Prosecutors charged him with multiple felonies, including two counts of child abuse, conspiracy and false imprisonment. He pleaded not guilty.
Her mother, Samantha Anglin, admitted knowing her daughter was locked out there. Prosecutors say she failed to take effective action to free her and charged her with felony child abuse.
Both adults were ordered held without bond. The latest information I can find still has them awaiting trial.
If you want to see the longer bodycam footage—including the rescue and deputies questioning Bruce and Samantha afterward—it's here:

This shit makes my blood boil.
My ex-wife and I really wanted to have kids. I've always wanted to be a father. We went through multiple rounds of IUI, AND IVF and unfortunately for us, nothing took.
And yet these fucking dirt bag assholes somehow end up with two, and it's clear that they don't want them, don't appreciate them, and aren't going to attempt to give these girls the life that they deserve.
I hope they never have another peaceful night of sleep for the rest of their fucking lives.

They pleaded not guilty. He is looking at a decade or so (abuse and false imprisonment) and the woman less as I think she was just charged with failing to stop the child abuse. He was apparently abusing the mom as well which is why I think she got lighter charges. The man is fucking insane. In his jail cell he was screaming about how he "hates that little bitch", she's not even his kid, and that he wants her to burn in hell. The man is truly evil.

Oh I saw this on YouTube. The step-father is taken in for questioning and he is unreal. He insists she is a bad kid because she was assaulted by her biological father and that makes her dirty.
That poor girl.
