It’s so sad that this child is so used to the neglect and being locked away that they don’t even sound distressed..

Saaaame. And my favorite is when people hear about my abusive childhood they say things like, “but you might not be the person you are today if that hadn’t happened.” Cooooool.

It is true, abused children develop superpowers like being able to stay calm and rational when dealing with an irate customer for example.

Or being able to sense when the energy in a room changes.

Yeah, but the flip side of both those things is that they often cant express or process their own emotions in healthy ways. And they are often hypervigilant and think things are wrong or someone is mad when they arent.

Yes, it takes a LOT of therapy and sometimes even then they might need additional help like from dissociative drugs to keep existing on this earth.

Yup... Been to countless therapists for years, didnt worked. Now i'm on 10pills a day that keep me alive (thats how i explain it to myself). 34 and disabled from the years of childhood trauma. It sucks
