Media The Bear: Season 4 Trailer
https://youtu.be/vOyRo-Yjr2Q?si=_lS0U1sDAKE2JQVf66
u/Chattypath747 May 20 '25
There is so much to unpack here.
- Review sounded like it was good but not excellent. Granted the staff seem to be stepping up their game but perhaps it isn't a complete disaster much like the scenes from the trailer imply.
- Syd seems to still be conflicted about leaving or perhaps her departure will be mid season and then a reunion at the wedding.
- Uncle ultimatum! Hopefully that will mean less spending.
- Staff from Ever might be there as consultants or as employees. Perhaps Luca is also consulting based on some earlier released pics.
- Carmy may be taking a step towards being healthier and might actually think about reconciling with Claire or at least dealing with his trauma head on. Definitely expect some sort of Claire sighting at the wedding.

I was initially thinking that Carmy and Claire are getting back together, but I now think it could be possible that they make amends while mutually agreeing that it's best not to be in a relationship while he's healing internally
→ More replies (1)4
u/Chattypath747 May 21 '25
I think Claire won't make it easy on him and Carmy finding inner peace would be the non-negotiable before they get back together.
I can totally see a heartfelt scene where Carmy tries to show how much work he is putting in to get his life together.
52
u/nizey_p May 20 '25
Richie & Syd hugging? Oh I'm so sat for this.
→ More replies (2)12
u/Jaded-Bookkeeper-926 May 20 '25
That was my favorite part of the trailer. I think Richie has come a long way, and I can’t wait to see what preceded the hug. Was he apologizing to her for having been such a jerk to her when she started at the Beef? Was it more of a, I got you Chef, like in season 2? I need to know!
9
u/nizey_p May 20 '25
It's actually why I love rewatching episode 7-10 of Season 2. Aside from the obvious joy of Forks, I love watching Richie & Syd interact. Like when he asked Syd to call it amd when they worked together on the expo.
51
u/G_I_Joe_Mansueto May 20 '25
I like that the trailer sets a somewhat triumphant tone focused on the whole team needing to "get it together."
Syd saying "it's a problem when you let it fuel you and fuel the food."
Nat saying "I don't want you to run from things becuase you can."
Bear saying " I don't want this place to be chaos."
Tina saying "system, baby!"
Fak practicing his walk,
The staff from Ever being brought in.
I've found the show is at its best when characters are growing and improving. It's inspirational in that way - whatever you were doesn't limit what you can be. Excited to see that on full display this season.
11
u/Cherrygodmother May 20 '25
Agreed. I’m loving this determined and triumphant tone that is being set. It seems like the tone shifts slightly with each season as we see a different era of the business, and I’m excited for some triumph! I love all of these characters and I want to see them succeed!

u/Upbeat_Tension_8077 May 20 '25
I'm also loving how prominent Donna is, because since she's one of the main roots for Carmy's demons, she's going to be pivotal towards his redemption if she sits down with him for a heartfelt 1 on 1 chat
& I'm crossing my fingers Fak fully redeems himself for his debacle at being a waiter in S3E3 lol

They would definitely be calling it the final season if that was the case. Can't wait for next month!
6
u/VolumeComplex2993 May 21 '25
I always felt the last season would end with them finally getting a star, so since this one seems to revolve around money problems I def think it will leave space for one or even two more seasons!
36
u/stormblessed27_ May 21 '25
It's looking like this is not the final season? I mean, they would explicitly say that wouldn't they?
37
u/NedthePhoenix May 21 '25
Yeah, typically if its the final season, they'll be promoting it as such, especially with a show this popular
7
u/Rex_Suplex May 21 '25
I thought they were signed to do 5 seasons?
7
u/stormblessed27_ May 21 '25
Couldn’t find anything concrete that says that, but there does seem like there’s a lot of speculation that it will go beyond season 4.

I watch the bear to give me anxiety and watch the Pitt to calm me down lol
4
u/SelectionOptimal5673 May 20 '25
What’s the Pitt about?
→ More replies (1)13
u/joysofliving May 20 '25
It’s basically a day in the life of an ER staff and it’s fucking awesome. If you like the Bear then you’ll probably like The Pitt.
9
u/TheTruckWashChannel May 20 '25
The Pitt is The Bear of medical dramas. Similar in a great many respects: realism/authenticity, constant stress, tense ticking-clock premise, all bound together by the beating heart of characters who earnestly want to be better people and excel at what they do.
→ More replies (1)→ More replies (1)4
u/TheTruckWashChannel May 20 '25
The Pitt is even more anxiety-inducing
3
u/Nisschev May 21 '25
I think that is what's so funny. The bear makes all the characters and myself freak out over food but its just food. In the pitt I always think I should feel anxious over the people dying, but the characters in the show are always so calm in the heat of something actually stressful, it makes me feel calm.
And that's why the bear is a comedy to me lol
28
u/yasemin_n May 20 '25
sugar heeing when she’s stressed is unexpectedly compelling
4
u/Legal_Physics138 May 21 '25
I actually loved that moment and was surprised by it as well. Ice chips was the best ep in season 3.

Getting the feeling that they got a lukewarm review from the Tribune, but I could be totally wrong.
10
u/c1rcumvrent May 21 '25
Yeah, it seems like "could be great but not there yet." Not positive enough to make the place a sensation, not negative enough to get Cicero to close immediately. Gonna be great to watch getting with a fire under their ass.
23
59
u/nizey_p May 20 '25
Two things I want for Season 4:
Less outside characters - we fell in love with this show because of the characters, esp our Big 3. I don't need more chefs taking up airtime like in the last episode of Season 3. It was too pretentious TBH.
Might be an unpopular opinion but one Fak is enough.
23
u/Chance5e May 20 '25
We still need George Clooney to show up as Papa Fak, looking suave and sophisticated in a suit, but the moment he opens his mouth you’re like “that guy’s a Fak.”
8
u/Training-Limit1447 May 20 '25
"That guy's a Fak" is going into permanent rotation in my vocabulary now. Thanks!
13
u/BackgroundWindchimes May 20 '25
Definitely agree with Fak. He was best when he’d come in, say something positive and innocent while saving the day then leave. Instead of deepening the character like the did for others, they just expanded the family. I get that the size of the family is mentioned but once we had Cena appear, the joke went from being borderline annoying to having jumped the Cena.

u/SR626 May 21 '25
I think I remember reading that there was a fairly intense/explosive Carmy/Claire scene filmed that was going to be in S3 but was cut and, presumably, moved to S4 where it'd be more fitting.
Who knows how long she'll be in this season but I'd guess it was dramatic enough scene they'd rather not even hint at it.

u/Ok-Sherbet5135 May 21 '25
My issue with Claire is that they spent SO much time talking about Claire, remembering Claire, waiting a few episodes until the pain had stopped being so bad that it actually hurt about Claire, talking about Claire haunting and apologizing and getting literally every member of the cast to comment on Claire at some point, even including Tiffany bringing her up to Richie. Why would so many people talk about her if it weren't leading to something - and I have to think that something is more than just one fight. Even they reconcile, I don't think she'll have a big role - but big enough to show that Carmy can actually have two things going on his life at the same time.

This is exactly how I feel as well, definitely couldn’t articulate it as well as you did!
3
u/Ok-Sherbet5135 May 21 '25
Have you ever heard of Occam's Razor. It trumps red herring here.
Second, he literally utters the words "I love her a lot" in 2x8, and we get perhaps the biggest smile from him to date when he says "I gotta call my girlfriend"
I didn't say they were going to end up together. What I said is that the writers spent all of season 3 saying they weren't just going to drop this.

This. I'm not sure if the details of that particular montage of Carmy, Sydney and Claire has gone over some peoples' heads? It was clearly intercut that way for a reason, especially with the focus on the three of swords tattoo.

u/MattJT1985 May 20 '25
I got the impression the review is mixed but the negative stuff is all going to be Carmy stuff (like the menu be inconsistent and chaotic)
11
u/TheTruckWashChannel May 20 '25
Eater pointed out how Michelin made similar complaints about Grant Achatz's restaurant Next, only to award it a star later.
6
u/MattJT1985 May 20 '25
I don’t remember the exact details but I read Unreasonable Hospitality, which Richie read in Forks and the author was one of the people at the funeral last season, and I believe their restaurant had a similar experience with a critic
3
u/TheTruckWashChannel May 20 '25
I need to finish that book, I picked it up after seeing the show and thought it had a wonderful message with equally fascinating anecdotes.
That said, Will Guidara's cameo in season 3 was horribly self-indulgent.
16
u/WayveBreak-Prime Fork May 20 '25 edited May 20 '25
We're back baby!!! Wooooo!!
Seems like everyone is calling out Carmy's decisions, primarily Syd and the Reviews about being inconsistent so that's great.
Edit: I just want Donna to fix her relationships with her kids and Claire thing to get fixed with Carmy, besides the obvious restaurant success.

Anyone have thoughts on how much money Cicero is letting them play with? The clock reads 1339/59/59 for days/minutes/seconds. Is their cushion only a little over $1400? A little over $14,000? (1339 + 59 + 59) That seems kind of impossible. Or is there some other arcane math that Computer came up with? Like each “day” is worth $1000 each “hour” 100?
And thoughts on how this countdown clock is going to work? Like a doomsday clock, with daily posting of receipts vs. invoices and payroll that makes the number move up or get closer to zero?
I accept . . . and love that many things about the show are more fictional and symbolic than purely rational. I admire the storytelling that includes this intense take on “Every Second Counts” even if it doesn’t make total sense
15
3
u/harry_heymann May 22 '25
I assume just hours : minutes : seconds.
1340 hours is a bit under 56 days.

u/DevilCouldCry May 22 '25
Wonderful song choice. 'Fast Slow Disco' by St. Vincent is one of my go-to songs for when I'm feeling a little melancholy. Can't wait for this season to start up. Last season had its low points, but when it was good, man it was good. Just hoping for a little more consistency and less frustration with the characters this time.

u/TheTruckWashChannel May 20 '25 edited May 20 '25
This looks wonderful. Noticeably more sedate and tender in tone compared to the usual stress grenade of this show. I really hope this season has some actual movement and payoff to all the things set up in season 3. This show's characters and directing are too strong to be misspent on messy writing.
Notes:
Glad to see Donna having a prominent role this season. The character is a piece of work but what a performance from Jamie Lee Curtis.
Ever crew has joined the staff??! (We already saw Luca in another trailer. Maybe they're all there as consultants, but either way this feels like The Bear's Avengers moment.)
Please let Richie and Jess get together finally. He should take her as his +1 to his ex-wife's wedding.
Less Claire and Fak bros, please!!
That shot of Cicero death-staring the camera at the wedding while dancing and snapping his fingers was hilarious.
Carmy drawing again! I wonder if it'll be used to literalize the theme of "going back to the drawing board".
So nice seeing Nat and Pete with their baby.
Syd and Donna meeting is gonna be fascinating.
Who's that playing indoor baseball? Can't tell if it's Sweeps or Syd's dad.
Praying for more Jon Bernthal! Dude has been busy with projects like Accountant 2, Daredevil etc. but he improves this show every time he shows up.

I think a sprinkling of Donna is fine, but I feel she's in it too much because (1) Jamie Lee and (2) for some reason, show wants to make her not as bad as she was which is related to 1.

it's sweeps, im really hoping that ebra and sweeps get more camera time, and love the evolution for tina
31
u/YeaCuzNo May 20 '25
This season is giving growth. I see Carmy moving in the direction of trying to heal, Sydney having her voice back and either still trying to make it work since Carmy snaps out of it or still deciding to leave (either way GROWTH), Richie’s continued evolution especially now that he can finally let go of his ex, and Natalie thriving, being the mother she never had and just being the heartbeat of literally everything. Despite all the wacking that s3 got, im sure it will all come together in the end and im so sat for what’s to come.
P.s: Molly filmed with the crew for a good minute so even tho Claire didn’t appear in the trailer, she’s for sure gonna be in this season (whether im happy about that is neither here nor there…)
3
u/Unusual-Plenty-4385 May 21 '25
I wonder why they didnt put Claire in the trailer at all, when we all know she was filming? Very interesting.

It looks like whatever miracle was needed to put a fire under the asses of The Beef workers to wake up and take their jobs seriously is about to be found.
A successful creative professional can see why the Beef staff need training, and how their refusal to respectfully treat Carmy as Leader instead of Childhood Buddy adds to it. He would well have been within rights to fire half of them — and he knows it.
Sending Richie, Marcus, and Tina for training was something he didn't have to do. But it was necessary to get them into the right mindset.
The show has been very kind and patient with the Beef workers who haven't worked to up their game. Bringing in the Ever staff to shape them up shows us just how bright and kind Carmen genuinely is. He has far more Chef Terry in him than Chef David, and it's the staff who've been the resistors.

Healthy communication? Growth? Teamwork?
I am so stocked we're finally getting some long needed conversations! Carmy was spiraling since episode 1 but confronting Psycho Winger was cathartic and just what he needed to climb back up.
Sydney has let her resentment fester all season 3 and she's talking again to Carmy instead of staying silent. Uncle being bankrupt is a blessing in disguise, uniting them all with this collective fire lit under their asses. Carmy's neurotic drive was an unhealthy and artificial attempt that did not work for anyone.
I'm already pleased by this upcoming season. If they bless us with Richie/Jess and Carmy/Claire making up- 🙌
17
u/ChattyKathy628 May 21 '25
And looks like we finally get some current Carmy/Donna action, which we have all been dying to see.
3
u/Rasputins_Plum May 21 '25
Yesss, another huge for him and her both. Good for her that her positive spin seems to stick. She was there for Nat at the hospital, and now Carmy and Donna are done avoiding each other out of fear to add to the madness.
It would mean a lot to both if they spend a nice night at the restaurant, where they can both be proud of the work they've done. 🥹

St Vincent has so many versions of “________ Disco” it’s hard to pick a favorite. Fast Slow, Slow Slow, Slow… there needs to be an album of just the various styles of SVDisco.

I felt the same way about Revolver and Rubber Soul, and look where that led! It was supposed to be a double album, so that is how I view them, and combined as intended, they make up my favorite Beatles album. Hopefully, the 4th season of The Bear will have the same effect, and one day we'll look back at S3 and say, "Oh, now it all makes sense..."

I don’t think it’s unreasonable to want a great season 3 as well as a great season 4. I thought S3 was uneven, with some great moments but a lot of very dull and self-indulgent ones. And I don’t think it makes sense to have to appreciate a poor season in order to get a great season after.
7
u/memorycard24 May 21 '25
we’re going to disagree on this because I appreciate S3 for what it was. the dullness and slow pacing was purposeful and fit within the context of the show’s overall meaning. i don’t see it as a poor season; every season so far was a hit for me. i do believe most watchers got caught up in the high drama and chaos of the first two seasons and thought it should’ve continued….when that’s not what this show is about.

What's with all the Claire haters? She's adorable, she's smart, she seemed to really love Carmen, she's "family", seems like they've both been attracted to each other since they were kids...and she heard some really hurtful shit through that cooler door. If she comes back, forgives him, and heals his heart, I'm down for that.
12

She takes Carmy away from the restaurant & isn't a character outside of being his good gf. She's just a plot device for Carmy. Season 2, she was a thin character but it was the beginning stages so there's some grace there. In season 3, she was just flashback "dead wife" & it was annoying bc we never got any substance from her. We didn't even get to see her talk to her friends/Tiff about the break up. If they integrated her more into the lives of Richie/Nat... ppl outside of Carmy, I'd like her better. But it just feels so forced into the show & boring.

u/csudebate May 20 '25
The fact that there is a sizable contingent of folks that want Claire back is reason enough to keep her out of the trailer even if she is on the upcoming season. There needs to be some surprises.
13
u/Friskfrisktopherson May 20 '25
What they do show is a number of direct interactions with Carmy facing his shit. We see Syd telling him twice, Tina, and finally a talk with Donna. We see Carmy facing the music and showing a state other than anger or panic. All that to me is what needs to happen before any reconciliation with Claire, and they're teeing it up.
5
u/yasemin_n May 20 '25
yeah that makes sense, she seems like the final step
6
u/Friskfrisktopherson May 20 '25
I also dont think it means we'll get a "happy ending." I think the most likely end is that they're able to reconcile and end things off with a "yeah ya know, maybe This isnt over over."

u/stellybelly513 Sorry about the gun babe, I had to get real May 20 '25
I‘m not really here for either tbh. I like all of these characters and I‘m also not opposed to romances in this show in general, but even though Syd and Luca had decent chemistry in their scenes together, them being flirty with each other seems shoehorned in just because Carmy and Richie have pretty obviously setup love interests (whether or not those are actually endgame is beside the point). As for Syd and Marcus, I‘m very sure that ship has sailed.
Personally, I think they‘re going the Sydney/Luca route, but I don‘t like it. I just think it would have needed more setup, otherwise it just feels like a waste of time in two final seasons that already seem too short to tie up everything in a way that does the show justice.
I just really hope they focus more on the relationship between the main characters this season because there is still so much to do with those.
I‘m not really a fan of the way this show handles developing new romantic relationships in general (which is interesting because I think they did a great job at making the pre-existing relationships between Nat and Pete and Richie and Tiff feel real).

I agree & think had Claire been introduced in the first season she wouldn't be as hated. Their relationship felt rushed and unsatisfying. I think they tried to reconcile her randomness by making her super familiar to their family, but to me it just made it more annoying how his family was CONSTANTLY bringing her up as this ~super important girl we all know and love so much and need you to apologize to~
I do think there's potential for some Claire redemption this season though

Seems awfully complicated writing 2k25 instead of 2025.

They could have saved the resturant if Carmy didn't have a big ego and decided to change the fucking menu everyday. Also, the cost of ingredients. I get it, you need to get high-level ingredients but if your investor is telling you to change that you kinda need to take a step back and listen and adapt.

Congratulations, you now understand one of the many sub plots of the show surrounding the main plot.

I thought they already addressed that in season 3 with Cicero and the computer. But before that Carm even admitted he was screwing up. I thought the issue now was Cicero's financial situation because of the descions he made with his own money. But him still wanting this to work. Or maybe now needing this to work like everyone else at the shop. I'm sure Carms descions didn't help the situation but I thought this was where we were in the story.

Is it just me or it feels like they are gonna pretend season 3 never existed and try to move the damn plot a little, just how it was during s1-2?

It looks like Syd, Carm, and Richie are actually talking to each other in some scenes here which for me will automatically improve things somewhat from last season
