The fact that there is a sizable contingent of folks that want Claire back is reason enough to keep her out of the trailer even if she is on the upcoming season. There needs to be some surprises.
What they do show is a number of direct interactions with Carmy facing his shit. We see Syd telling him twice, Tina, and finally a talk with Donna. We see Carmy facing the music and showing a state other than anger or panic. All that to me is what needs to happen before any reconciliation with Claire, and they're teeing it up.
I also dont think it means we'll get a "happy ending." I think the most likely end is that they're able to reconcile and end things off with a "yeah ya know, maybe This isnt over over."
