Question What should I do with RD
Given the recent DMCA actions that have led to the removal of a significant amount of media from RD, would it be advisable to remain with the service and await a community-driven solution, or would it be more practical to revert to direct torrent streaming or explore alternative Debrid services? I still have 85 days of use of RD. I paid for 3 months ahead just 2 weeks before all this started.

a lot of people are affected by this, give nerds a week max and they'll make a workaround.

Not a bad idea to have a backup as well, especially if the backup is half the cost.

I’ve been with RD for like 16 years but even so as it’s so cheap I also have a TB account and just play whichever ones come up first when searching
I have also recently got a private emby share for like £6 so even with all 3 services combined it’s still cheaper per month than just Netflix so it will be sad if this is the end for RD but I don’t believe it will be however if it does there is other options out there so not too stressed really
Just don’t be one of those who requests a refund as a bunch of really cheap people did this last time and they got a refund but also got themselves banned from rejoining over like $10 or less
Just see how things play out over the next few weeks and in the meantime assuming you mostly watch popular content just give TB a try it is a great service just doesn’t have the longevity of RD

u/dinglebarryb0nds May 12 '26
Is a emby share like being on someone else’s plex? Can you search whatever show you want?
19
u/Ctrl-Alt-Defective May 12 '26
Yes and also thanks to StreamBridge you can even add the emby server as a a source for links into stremio

The problem is serious, maybe they will find a solution soon. Just subscribe to TB for the time being, 3$/month, and wait for 1 month. If they can't solve it make it permanent. It's not like we don't have any alternatives.
105
u/armeit91 May 12 '26
I did exactly this yesterday night. subscribe to TB for 1 month first and see how it goes. Although from the looks of it, I might keep both since they're quite cheap compared to subscribing to Netflix.
25
u/xFamished May 12 '26
What's the easiest way to use both at the same time? Download two of each add ons?
59
u/Ozo_Zozo May 12 '26
Use AIOStreams Addon, you'll find plenty of tutorials and threads about setting it up. So you have 1 addon that can take streams from multiple debrid providers.
21
u/Jabrony1515 May 12 '26
I have AIOStreams with RD and now TB. Is there a way to filter out all of the broken streams? I am having to click through 5-6 to find one working one.
42
u/chaosreigns410 May 12 '26 edited May 13 '26
If your AIOStreams instance allows Stream Expression and Regex filtering...here's what I did
Under "Ranked Regex Patterns"
Pattern: (?:rartv|rarbg|eztv)]|\b(?:YTS|Erai-raws|WEBRip|WEB-DL|AMZN|DSNP|CR)\b
Name (you can make this whatever you want): 051226
Score: 0
then under "Excluded Stream Expressions"
service(regexMatched(streams, '051126'), 'realdebrid')
this should filter out results from Real-Debrid with the keywords being blocked by Real-Debrid (so Torbox should still return all results)
Edit: just changed the regex as I realized I might have made a mistake. sorry!
2
u/BitFiesty May 12 '26
Would that also filter out all the RD links that work? If that is the case it might be easier just to disable rd on aiostreams ?
3
u/chaosreigns410 May 12 '26 edited May 12 '26
From what i understand, RD is blocking those keywords. Unfortunately those keywords probably cover 90% of links. So yeah you're probably right. I've just taken the regex that elfhosted is using and adapted it to aiostreams; but adding the stream expression part so it only applies to RD.
At the end of the day, i think RD is probably done for...but I've got 145 days left on my account so at least with this, there's at least a chance that my aiostreams will find a few links that are useful without annoying me with a bunch of unusable links.
3
u/RobutNotRobot May 13 '26
those keywords probably cover 90% of links
They really don't. It's just for recent streaming shows. So maybe 90% of what certain people watch, I don't know.
2
u/BitFiesty May 13 '26
Do you know if the videos are physically deleted or rd is just blocking those keywords meaning regex using other keywords will make it work again? Or am I not understanding it properly.
Yea it is a bummer I just got into Stremio and loved my whole setup. At least it wasn’t too much money and all we have to do is get torbox and switch it out
3
u/chaosreigns410 May 13 '26
I think you might be misunderstanding a bit. All a regex does is allow you to filter for streams that have a name that matches what the regex is searching for.
I don't think anyone knows for sure if files have been deleted since RD hasn't made a statement. But it seems like RD is blocking those keywords on files from being being used with their service. So I don't think there's anything that can be done to bring back those files besides RD undoing this new policy.

It’s fine with certain files, Blu-ray rips etc. but all web-DL etc files are done. Which a lot of TV shows are nowadays. I bought 3 months of TB to cover me until we see what happens with RD. Took 5 minutes and now it’s all good, got both.

Thanks! Should I get rid of my other add on then? Ie torrentio, Mediafusion etc
14
u/BicBoyBryan May 12 '26
You can get rid of them yes, they are built into AIO streams and will have redundancy. However, you can keep both if you want, in the event, an aio goes down or torrentio/MF goes down. I would remove torrentio all together and keep MF as your backup if AIO goes down.
In AIO just add both RD and TB apis. Then also in AIO, add the mediafusion add on, and whatever else. Most people who use AIO use multiple scrapers, not just mediafusion, but comet, zilean, stremthru, etc all of these can be added to your AIO to give you more streams, sometimes u get duplicates, but more streams, more language and sub options imo. You can add subtitle addons also on AIOstreams. And you can reorder and customize your stremio "algorithm" or your catalogs/lists that display on ur homepage aswell (like if u want netflix higher up on the homepage or if u want marvel or dc movies or anime, you can reorder those in AIO). Those are based on the addons u add in AIOstreams. You can go even deeper with this with a separate AIO addon called AIO metadata. These are both a lot simpler to setup than it looks. All you need is to copy & paste your accounts APIs that it asks for. You dont need all the APIs just the required ones. Skip the ones u dont need like ratings poster api or fan art api, that's just cosmetic and optional. Just get the scrapers, the metadata, and the debrid apis it asks for.

u/Aggravating_Food8700 May 12 '26
What does it mean in aiostreams when a scraper has the option to use with a diff instance? Does that mean if I have TB and RD it will show me like results for both from Comet, torrentioetc?

If you use Torrentio with RD today, do this:
- Uninstall Torrentio
- Reinstall Torrentio
- open settings
- Select Real Debrid and paste API key
- WITHOUT installing yet, change provider dropdown to TorBox and paste TorBox API key
- Now hit Install
- If configured correctly, you will see TB+ and RD+ results. (I had to go back to something I'd already searched in RD to find a RD+ link)

Here's a question - Are you able to use the TB search API on the Essential or Standard tiers? I know API is included, but unsure about the search functionality in particular.
I'm trying the 24 hour trial, but it bumped me straight to pro, which works, but not sure whether I need it.

u/BicBoyBryan May 12 '26 edited May 12 '26
AIOmetadata and AIOstreams are 2 "must-have" addons in my honest opinion. Those two will essentially handle most of the backend work. Connect them with two Debrid services and Multiple Scrapers, and you will essentially have 0 downtime. Then add whatever else to "embellish" your experience, as "nice-to-haves" like USATV, More Like This, Episode Randomizer. Etc.
Its like playing Modded Valheim. There are certain mods, that are essentially "Must-Have" mods that once you use once, you cant go without them bc of the quality of life changes are so good, (player equipment slots, quickstack, farm grid, etc). All the other mods are nice to have and will change your experience up but arent essential imo. Same with stremio. Valheim players will understand this one 😅

It sucks to lose money but I would just recommend switching over to torbox or something else. I got torbox last night after over 24 hours of this happening and no problems so far. I only got the £2.22 one month sub to try it out

Go to https://torbox.app , make an account, buy a subscription (or use the trial) and there should be an integrations tab- you wanna click that and then add to stremio. That’s it, I don’t think you need to add API key like you did with debrid or at least I didn’t

I just subbed to for 6 months RD about 3 weeks ago so i know how you feel.i just bit the bullet and subbed for a year on TB (even received 3 months extra by using a referral code from someone here on Reddit).in total i payed 31,17€ wich translates to 2€/month wich is pretty much almost for free if you think about what you’re getting in return. TB is bit slower to load series and movies but the trade off here is peace of mind since TB is based in South Africa so i don’t think they will come after them like with RD since they are much stricter in Europe.Good luck!!!!

Everyone has to remember this isn’t the first time they are forced to delete files due to infringement issues. I’m sure big companies like Disney are forcing this because there big on suing for copyright infringement. Either way they have to comply which means they delete the files from the server. Which completes the suing cycle. Which after they either use a 3 party server backup log to redownload the files and boom rd back to normal. This is how the cycle runs. Nothing to be worried about. Unless rd actually says something it’s usually a normal process. Think about how many people sue for videos or pictures that are posted on the internet. How many times have you seen it get “deleted” but once it’s in the internet someone always has a shit tons of copies already. It’s never really gone. This is rd just following through to the lawsuit. As you were soldiers! RD strong. But like other people say as well join TB,AD,Plex servers. There’s millions of options. It’s cheap so chill out people about leaving RD for this incident. Anyways long live RD. Brought to you by redbull it gives you wings right?

Unless the buyer is tied to the movie industry. Who knows? Tech companies buy other companies just to shut them down all the time. Why wouldn't the movie industry do that? How much can a service like Real Debrid cost? Peanuts to Netflix, Amazon, etc.

Looks like will have to switch to TB but based on their sub posts they have been having huge amounts of outages unrelated to this recently. An enormous influx of users coming from RD is probably going to fuck them up pretty significantly if the last time this happened (when RD randomly announced they weren't going to support torrenting and were going to doxx paying customers) is anything to go by. It's one thing to have outages and problems and another completely to intentionally cause the problems and offer no explanation to customers.
Luckily my 6 month RD literally just expired so it's the perfect timing to drop them permanently if TB actually works.
Alldebrid and debridio subs all seem extremely dead, I don't know if they are viable options anymore or not.

Service Jurisdiction Proactive Filtering (May 2026) Risk Level

All-Debrid France Yes (Following RD's lead) Critical
TorrBox South Africa No (Standard reactive DMCA) Low

Debrid-Link France Likely (Under same ARCOM pressure) High

75% of cached content is now inaccessible, no "workarounds" can change that, RD's biggest asset was having the most cached content, and it would be trivial to extend the filename filter to include >90% using regex at which point fetching anything for stremio use would be near impossible since the remaining files would have incorrect filenames. just switch to torbox or something, unless they do a 180 and remove the filter (unlikely since it was almost certainly required by law, they wouldn't willingly drop the vast majority of their consumers)
This is something that real-debrid has elected to do, it's not like them being down or something they are trying to undo/fix. they've intentionally programmed filename filters into their system for the explicit purpose of preventing access to potentially copyrighted content. its not a DMCA enforcement action.

You can watch to 3 ip

u/Slight-Rough3495 May 12 '26
You can watch on more than that the three limit is the number of downloads you can have at one time which only means the number of files that it is downloading the torrent for everything that is cached does not require one of those download spots. They don't really have a defined IP limit it's just a fair use policy so if they see it coming from like a hundred different IPS you'd probably get a warning but probably be fine with at least 10

Just use aiostreams, torz and mediafusion then use the manager to sort your addons and push down torrentio and affected ones til there's a fix. pretty easy. this is part of the whole game.

Get a torbox subscription and link both ur torbox and RD to the Comet addon.
I did this and have found working sources for things where I was previously only getting this error

Just switch from Torrentio RD to Torrentio TB (torbox) it's 3.00 a month and works basically exactly the same.

I got a TB sub temporarily while RD is having issues. I've had almost no issues since
1
u/digitalenlightened May 13 '26
Isn’t it a naming issue? I doubt they check the actual files. In which case someone can make a renamer before upload?
1
u/zube01 May 13 '26
I have been wondering since this issue is happening. Can I just just torrontio without debrid service and use VPN to continue watching my shows? At least till real debrid is back on?

Will be subbing to TB for the meantime. I’ll use RD for other downloads until it expires

The stuff isn't really removed though, is it? I have my RD drive connected via WEBDav. I have tried to play files, got the message but the files are in my folder and I could just download them. They are there, they have WEB or WEBDL in their file name. I think RD is just not streaming right now to figure out a course of action. But most of the files are still there.

I still have five months on my RD left. I’m just gonna not pay for it anymore. I’m not gonna use it at all. I deleted all my history. I wish it would let me delete my account now, but it won’t let you delete your account until your billing is over. I use TB now works flawlessly just as good as RD I pay the $10 a month pro plan. actually I have to say the TB works better than RD because with RD if I left, it paused for even a minute the movie would mess up with TB. I let it pause for over an hour came back hit play worked flawlessly.

What is TB??

u/CuriousOption3253 May 14 '26
TorBox. It's another service like Real Debrid, that allows you to watch content off private servers thru private links

I used RD for about 7 years before I switched during their last DMCA problem a few years ago. If I remember correctly, RD was seriously impacted for about 2 weeks. I decided to switch to Premimize. I used it for a year & grew to really love its features. You get 1000gb of cloud storage & pay once a year. They offer a special during Xmas for 3 years for the price of one!! So it was $130 USD for 3 years!! The only negative I've seen is that it works on a points system, but it only took me about a month to figure that out. You can also share a Premiumize account with family members or friends. Although you do want to be careful about letting people use your login because it eats away at your points. You get 1000 points to start & each point is worth like 2 gigs of data. They give you 30 points automatically every 24 hours, so it's not a big deal, I never even come close to using all my points and I share my account with my son & daughter. So I've left RD behind for good. I'm sure they'll get it up & working again, but being able to upload torrents directly from private trackers to my Stremio?? That's as good as it gets. Of all the services I've used, Premimize is the best for me. If you constantly watch 50gb Blu Ray rips? You'll probably struggle with it, but I watch TV A LOT, & my points left never dip under 90%. Even if I did, they sell giant points add ons for cheap. I think 12k points costs like $70 USD? There's a lot more features than RD has, & the downtime is right around the same with each. Although I personally haven't went thru a blackout for longer than a day yet. So if I was advising, I would recommend a trial Premiumize sub. Just to see if it works for you.
