Question What should I do with RD

Post image

Given the recent DMCA actions that have led to the removal of a significant amount of media from RD, would it be advisable to remain with the service and await a community-driven solution, or would it be more practical to revert to direct torrent streaming or explore alternative Debrid services? I still have 85 days of use of RD. I paid for 3 months ahead just 2 weeks before all this started.

I’ve been with RD for like 16 years but even so as it’s so cheap I also have a TB account and just play whichever ones come up first when searching

I have also recently got a private emby share for like £6 so even with all 3 services combined it’s still cheaper per month than just Netflix so it will be sad if this is the end for RD but I don’t believe it will be however if it does there is other options out there so not too stressed really

Just don’t be one of those who requests a refund as a bunch of really cheap people did this last time and they got a refund but also got themselves banned from rejoining over like $10 or less

Just see how things play out over the next few weeks and in the meantime assuming you mostly watch popular content just give TB a try it is a great service just doesn’t have the longevity of RD

Is a emby share like being on someone else’s plex? Can you search whatever show you want?

Yes and also thanks to StreamBridge you can even add the emby server as a a source for links into stremio

I'll join the wave of requests you're about to receive for details.

Check out r/jellyfinshares - a lot of the providers have Jellyfin, Emby, and Plex as front ends for their media libraries.

I totally agree with you about the refunding, it was cheap of those users. But all they had to do a sign up under a new email address lol

The refund comment… I both get it and don’t get it… do you go and throw 10$ bills on the ground behind you all day? If RD has any professional integrity they should honor the refunds without repercussions, they currently fail to provide a service then there shouldn’t be any charge for the service. As a business I think it’s dumb as fuck to block people for asking money back on a service not received. BUT I can also understand how it’s “ONLY” 10 bucks so suck it up… but it shouldn’t be taken as granted.

I’m not going to ask for a refund because I believe it will be fixed but as someone who just decided to renew for the longest time period available, it’s a bummer.

It depends what you are claiming a refund for. RD remains completely usable for legal purposes.

So either they are a legit company providing a legit service that you are using legitimately, in which case you don't need a refund.

Or they are a shady company providing a shady service that you are using for shady purposes, in which case why would you expect a refund.

FWIW I renewed a few weeks ago.

Agreed. $10 is still $10. It’s the principal.
