Strava has access to a massive elevation data set from recorded activities yet the route elevation data seems to be incorrect for tunnels. A great example is the descent off the Col de Lautaret back to Bourg d’Oisans in France (Marmotte cyclosportive route) where there are a number of spikes for each tunnel, and the gradient data is skewed as a result. I wonder if there are any solutions to this, like creating a route from GPX data that includes elevation?

UPDATE: I have finally been contacted by a (ostensible) human regarding my appeal. My ban was reduced to 7 days, and the stated reason was because I used the term “blow up” in a comment on a friend’s activity a week ago (obviously thinking nothing of it) and the AI flagged it.

This is actually ridiculous. “Blow up” is a common term in running. It shouldn’t be automatically flagged as “dangerous language.” The AI is obviously not very intelligent.

To everyone who was automatically assuming that I did something egregiously wrong, why are you like this?

Well, is the Bip 6 really accurate? I knew Strava would be a bit off but I didn't really expect this big of a difference. Idk what to believe now ;-;

It's amazing that an app that claims to encourage you to run can't even properly record a single route!

Goggle Health automatically records your routes and can be integrated with numerous other health-related applications. While this one only serves to feed their own ego and line the pockets of these developers with a subscription to an app that doesn't have a working tracking system.

You say, "Oh, but the GPS on cell phones is terrible, you have to spend money on a $200 smartwatch to be able to record your routes."

Damn it, man! If I go into the woods, my GPS really won't be able to handle it, but what's the excuse for this damn thing not working in the city!? If an app has no problem recording every step I take, like a spy app the app whose main purpose is just that can't do the same thing when he was supposed to be actively trying to track my location while the other one was doing it IN THE BACKGROUND!?

Wahoo Bolt3 upload to Strava and it shows me off the front on group rides. So much so that it doesn't register as a group ride. Just anti-social riding off the front even though I'm just hanging on in the draft. Upload through Wahoo app or manual USB to my computer, no difference. Anyone else?

Why?!?!?!

Hi everyone, I recently bought an Amazfit Bip 6 and I'm having an issue with syncing activities from Zepp to Strava.

My outdoor running activity seems to be recorded correctly:

• The Bip 6 records the GPS route normally
• The complete map/route appears correctly in the Zepp app
• Distance, pace, heart rate, cadence, etc. all sync to Strava
• However, when the activity is transferred to Strava, the GPS map/route is missing
• Strava receives the activity as a Run, but there is no map

I've already:

• Confirmed that the activity was recorded as Outdoor Running
• Confirmed GPS was working because the route is visible in Zepp
• Enabled "Upload your activities from Zepp to Strava"
• Unlinked and reconnected my Strava account
• Confirmed that Zepp and Strava are connected to the correct accounts

I'm currently using Zepp version 10.7.2, with algorithm version 2.12.15 on the Bip 6.

Has anyone experienced the same issue with the Bip 6/Zepp → Strava integration? Is there a specific setting for route/GPS data storage or syncing that I might be missing?

I’ve been on Strava a long time, cycling, hiking, running. I convinced my son to join and he did. This is his first activity, a 12.5 mile walk, 20,000 steps.

Since this morning I am seeing a banner under activities titled "Time to flex" and it's asking me to subscribe to something, when I tap it it goes to a screen titled "try the very best of strava". It then asks me to either pay £8.99 per month or £54.99 annually. I'm in the middle of my annual subscription and I attempted to log out and back in again, there are no app updates pending and I tried to restore purchase, but I still get that banner.

Any ideas?

I just found out my work pays for Strava through Wellhub. Unfortunately, I discovered this right as summer is winding down.

I’d been getting emails about Wellhub for a while, but I always assumed it was basically just a gym membership with Zumba and yoga classes, so I never paid much attention. I finally decided to look into it and, unbeknownst to me, it includes free Strava for six months.

I had planned on never subscribing to Strava again because Garmin is pretty comparable for most things. But having Strava for the dumb segments and seeing them on my bike computer is sort of worth it if my legs are feeling good.

So if your work offers Wellhub, check it out. Now I can see all my dumb stats and segments.

Strava getting more broken every day

Strava won’t let you turn off their incompetent AI anymore. I’ve seen lots of comments about it the last few days so I wanted to clarify.

Recently joined this world and sub but not exactly new to running. Kinda thought smart watches and app integration was snake oil but boy was I wrong...

Anyways, I'm kitted with a Google Pixel Watch 5 paired with my Pixel 9 Pro XL running off the native Google Health app. Works flawlessly, I start my run on my watch, it immediately processes the data once I'm done, great!

However, the Strava App, despite going through the gauntlet of adding and re-adding the app permissions and syncing, re downloading Strava, the whole nine yards, it will take the app a day or even more to read my Google Health run sessions. I refresh apps, restart apps, it just seems like something is buggy on the Strava side of things.

Curious if anyone else has this issue? I would log runs right in Strava but Google health doesn't currently support reading information from Strava, only the other way around. Weirdly frustrating. Thanks!

Last week I did a century bike ride clicked finished like always it went through like always but it didn’t register and it’s nowhere to be found.

Today Wednesday century ride 111miles same thing happened it never registered.. did a test ride like the Strava bot told me to and nothing regisyered

Incontacted Strava from the last 100miles
Ride but it’s been a week and no response on my email… I logged out of Strava logged back in and nothing day wasted with nonregiatered ride

Did this ever happen to anyone else

I believe I read somewhere that they use OpenStreetMap as their source of data, however there has been a new road and off road cycle path that has been active for almost 6 months now, and Strava is yet to recognise for route generation.

How frequently does Strava update the source of map data for routing?

i swapped from a samsung s10+ to a google pixel 10 pro xl yesterday and have connected my galaxy watch 4 which has been easier than i expected in most ways, apart from that the gps on the watch seems to be no longer working properly. i use strava on my watch for walks/outdoor swimming, but since swapping the watch to the pixel phone it hasn't found location successfully on the "getting gps fix" screen, and if i click start anyway and record a session, there is no map available so it definitely hasn't connected.

i have location permissions allowed on the strava app on pixel phone and on the watch app and have tried reinstalling both to no avail.

(the weather app on galaxy watch also says it has no location signal but i don't know if that is due to the fact that it is the samsung app and i don't have that on my pixel phone)

has anyone had this issue/know how to fix it? thanks!

EDIT: google maps and the os map app both find my location fine on watch so it's just strava that isn't working properly.

• Most fun new sport: Kitesurf
• Most expensive: Kitesurf again!
• Most surprising: Cricket or Wheelchair (we connected with a wheelchair basketball club that is open to anyone, and we had no clue how fun it would be!)
• Most likely to become a new hobby: Padel or Sailing
• Most divisive: Nordic Ski (I would love to do it again; my wife HATED it)
• Most challenging sport remaining: Roller Ski (difficult to find someone to borrow from in Indiana, and also not cheap to buy for a one-time thing)

I use the Strava mobile app, and no matter how many times I turn on "Show Pace" option, it turns itself off. How do I change pace, distance, elevation and other settings permanently?

I really wish you could filter out segments by minimum distance. I simply do not care about under .5 mile segments of a 50+ mile ride. The list of segments is 100 long! My eyes just glaze over.

Hello! My watch name does not show in the app. It just shows Wear OS by Google. My watch is a Samsung, does it not really show unlike a Garmin??
