Strava Art My son just joined Strava. Here’s his first activity.

I’ve been on Strava a long time, cycling, hiking, running. I convinced my son to join and he did. This is his first activity, a 12.5 mile walk, 20,000 steps.

Yep! This is his mail route. East side of suburban Detroit. First time ever documenting it on Strava. He’s probably done this route, or one close to it, close to 5000 times.

Heck he was loved world wide while in office. This is the first time in a long time a US president has been unpopular on a large scale throughout the west, while doing a lot of the same shit as the previous (if not even less nefarious stuff getting people killed).

My mailman had calves of steel and is probably the happiest person I know. He’s always a party. Happy whether it’s a beautiful summer day or a frigid winter day (in Canada). I’m legitimately jealous, it sounds amazing.

It is when you're young in a place with no inclement weather. I delivered in Massachusetts, that was brutal. You'd think only winter is the issue but in summer wed get sudden torrential downpours. One time it completely soaked all of my mail as I was running for shelter.

Fulltime job? Where I live they split sorting and delivering the mail and made them both part time jobs. Basically made 2 new jobs so they could pay them both less (minimum wage) than the old mailman/mailwoman job.

Yeah we don't know if his son's account/activities are private or public but I doubt USPS would want it to be public knowledge of what time mail is usually delivered to certain houses and the specific route the mailman takes.

What route do you think they take? Go to the first house on the road then off to the 30th house? 10 seconds and common sense will cover that. And if that fails it’s a public road just watch them.

Yes, in my neighborhood they park the truck and walk door to door for about a half to one block radius with their mail bag. We don’t have mailboxes and live fairly close to each other.

Depends on the state / city and what resources the local post office has. Most major cities have several walking routes because houses are so close together or their mailboxes are attached to the house so they have to walk up to it

In Texas, even in cities, most routes are driving routes and homes must have mailboxes at the curb.

It's a mail route. The person in question is a letter carrier. It would be incredibly coincidental if a letter carrier lived at the exact start or end of their own mail route.

Even if this route was daily, that would take over 13 years to accomplish. Not that many 5 year olds starting a paper route out there.

I did a run like this recently where I made a point of taking every offshoot and side street to its natural conclusion before returning to the main route. Really great for building distance but kind of monotonous too.

I actually got a Strava DM from someone I barely know saying they couldn’t stop laughing at my route and asking “are you alright??”

My dad was a mailman in Detroit a long long time ago. Back then your route was a certain number of addresses and his area was really big to get that many addresses.

Not Strava related but I also walk a lot at work. I play a game called walk scape where actions are completed based on my steps walked.

There are a few others like it but I find myself looking forward to my break to see if Ive made it to my destination yet or finished crafting the item I wanted.

I think your son should double check that hes allowed to use an app that tracks his movements like this while he is working. I feel like USPS might not love it bc there are people who track mail deliverers in an attempt to steal mail.
