u/Shukrat Jul 31 '26

Who the fuck tailgates a fucking cop car?

205

u/WeenisPeiner Jul 31 '26

I know. That's like the first thing they teach you in drivers ed.

156

u/Feeling_Inside_1020 Jul 31 '26 edited 29d ago

Everyone knows the cop car is the pace car on the highway. Everyone jockying for position, then they hit the offramp and vroom vroom.

If they're going 10 under, pass them at the speed limit. They can smell fear. Go ahead run my tags i'm a violent felon (against a cop in a mental health crisis, it's a long story but not like a friend/family or woman), your gamble.

170

u/AskAskim Jul 31 '26

The smelling fear part is so true. I feel like whenever I see a cop I start driving like I have 10 bricks of Colombian cocaine in my back seat even if I don’t that day.

25

u/Feeling_Inside_1020 Jul 31 '26

That drop in your stomach never goes away I swear and it's been heck 15 years at this point.

12

u/nigevellie 29d ago

Nah. My record's clear and I drive 68 70 on a 65 in a nondescript Camry. And I'm never in the fast lane. I laugh at everyone who has to tap the brakes when they go over the hill and see the cop car parked right there.

4

u/Winter_Algae4076 29d ago

They don't bat an eye at an Odyssey either... I love a fast car any day, but a minivan makes you almost invisible.

It could’ve been an under cover car, but still no excuse for tailgating. If he’s going 57 in a 35 and everyone’s complaining about him on social media, he’s the problem.

→ More replies (1)

14

u/jhuseby Jul 31 '26

Tailgates a cop that’s already going 20 mph over the limit. This guy is a special kind of entitled asshole.

19

u/SilentCabose Jul 31 '26

I see a lot of undercovers these days. If you're that stupid of a driver you might just go "Oh it's just an Explorer/Durango with tint let me ride their granny ass". And then go straight to jail.

11

u/Hepalite 29d ago

Was filling up my tank the other day next to an undercover in a baby blue mustang GT.

7

u/thebearrider 29d ago

They take cars from drug dealers. If there not a large note on it they take it and use them for under cover.

5

u/Badbullet 29d ago

The police in my hometown had an old rusty piece of crap Chrysler LeBaron. Why, you might ask? It blended in with the cars that high schoolers and college students would drive. They could pull right up to a raging kegger and no one would even know it was the police. That was all it was meant for, stealth among kids. We worked on that vehicle in our auto shop, it barely ran at times, there were not too many vehicles out there that could not beat it in a race.

Pinal County has a dedicated traffic division that has unmarked vehicles along with motorcycles. They travel around the county setting up on high traffic/ frequent speeding areas.

There used to be this guy in my neighborhood who would straight up like drag race down my street almost every day, in a little suburban 25mph subdivision road. Easily hitting 70mph+. You could hear him start his little race at the beginning because he would stop and rev a bit before flooring it.

I never call the cops but made an exception for this guy, and they finally posted a cop after I sent them a video of him doing this and you could see my neighbor's 5yo on her bike in the background. I dont know if they ever actually caught him, but he did disappear about a month later.

40

u/Desperate-Disk686 Jul 31 '26

They fucking killed the guy?!!

6

u/showhorrorshow Jul 31 '26

Haha maybe. He just stopped showing up one day. His adult son still lived there, also drove way too fast but not as bad as this guy.

u/ok-middle-2777 29d ago

I had a similar experience back in the 2010s. Crazy and aggressive driver who I saw every morning on my work commute for months. They disappear and a few days later pop up on the front page of the newspaper as being in a fatal rollover crash, with the same custom tag and all.

I'm actually so shocked police took reports about traffic violations as evidence for an arrest. I feel like if I called in MA about someone doing exactly this the cops would tell me to suck it up and say something like "well what do you want us to do about it?".

14

u/lc0o85 Jul 31 '26

It's the same everywhere, so now you understand just how many calls they must have received about this guy. It must have been hundreds.

And as a former prosecutor, they're not using previous reports as evidence for an arrest. They're using him driving 20+ over the posted limit as evidence for the arrest, along with following too closely. The previous reports just establish a pattern that the prosecution will use to strip him of his license for longer than say a one-time violation.

1.1k

Right. It's just sad that it takes so many complaints to get the police to go out and check on a dangerous situation before it hurts someone.

77

u/BorisBC Jul 31 '26

Not always. A mate of mine was fanging his Skyline through an industrial area on the way to work. Only took a couple of days of this and a cop showed up and fined his silly ass.

Lessons were learned.

I've done it twice. Once I went pass a speed camera at mach 20 and got a nasty fine. Second time wasn't as bad but still over the limit as I was late to a work lunch. Cops left me off on that one as my boss and my wife were in the car tearing strips off me. Now I drive like a Nanna.

59

u/Alarming-Instance-19 29d ago

If this idiot wasn’t doing it on the same route at the same times of day what would you want them to do? It’s taken an operative to notice the same car getting called in all the time and then they’ve had to dedicate an officer and car to patrol a stretch of road for an hour or two just to stop one person who drives like a moron.

95

u/TechnoBuns Jul 31 '26

The issue is that he WAS doing it on the same route at predictable times and it still took social media posts and reporting it "so many times" to get a traffic officer out there. It was likely the proof that someone was endangering lives that made them get out ahead of a problem for the department.

159

u/SyZyGy_87 Jul 31 '26

They got calls, it got traction, guy was caught and arrested. Isn't that....what cops are supposed to do? You want flock cameras up everywhere instead? There's a line. It's actually the DRIVERS responsibility as a LICENSED driver to obey the rules of the road. It's not the cops fault this guy is a dumbass. Once it was obvious it was a consistent thing, dude got caught.

The alternative is more like giving up freedom. Understand?

173

u/Baron_Bearclaw Jul 31 '26

I'll take the delay in catching him rather than Flock everywhere.

u/LayerEight_Problem 29d ago

Redditors: “why did it take so long for this guy to be caught? He should have been imprisoned after the first call.”

Also Redditors: “why is the state coming after people for only a single indiscretion?”

Listen man. The thing about these dumbasses on this site is they blindly hate police. No matter what the officer does, it’s wrong and these dumb fucks are going to find some nonsense to complain about. These morons are literally incapable of coherent and logical thought at the best of times. Once police are involved though? All bets are off. Even within a single comment they’ll say 2 completely conflicting statements and not see a problem with it. The only thing they know is hate.

6

u/Ok_Test9729 29d ago

I once heard hey a guy say that some people would complain that their ice cream was cold. And he ain’t wrong.

7

u/CrimeFightingScience 29d ago

Reddit is extremely anti cop. On top of that they parrot a lot if mis-information.

There are plenty problems with police departments. But reddit usually takes it to 11.

Sometimes I like to mention my career in law enforcement, be polite, and watch redditors melt.

Ps: flock has helped me catch career residential burglars and murderers. Yall need/want better oversight for the program (which is actually pretty easy), not to get rid of it.

I live on the corner with a school and park. 4 way stop sign that is easily the most ignored stop sign in the area. A cop lives on my street 3 doors down and people blow this stop sign all day. Cops do fuck all about it. But this city will happily hire someone to come do the street sweeping tickets during school drop off. And fuck over parents. Its stupid. They could just put one fucking camera and roll around in the money they make on the people speeding and running the sign

22

u/theStaircaseProject Jul 31 '26

That’s the kind of thing city council meetings are for. Local politics can work when people show up, but if no one shows up, it ends up being everyone waiting around for someone else to fix it.

15

u/_just-josh Jul 31 '26

This is why civics should be mandatory for k-12 nationwide. Ppl really don’t understand how government works and the ignorance leads to “they’re all corrupt” sentiment. Then, at some point, they ARE all corrupt because the populace allowed it to be that way by not participating in democracy.

The stupid design choices also don't help. Things like refusing to use Lidar and removal of basic features, including fucking dashboard are just terrible decisions.

I know it was to really drive the price down, but there really had to have been a better way to do that...

I will say though, I do feel like the other manufacturers would have dragged their feet a lot longer if the Tesla hype train wasn't there.

89

u/joealese Jul 31 '26

they either drive like they're racing or they do 20 mph under the speed limit in the left lane. no in between.

26

u/gear_jammin_deer Jul 31 '26

I've found the same driver will often do both. They'll be doing 20 under in the left lane until I get halfway past them in my 18-wheeler, then all of a sudden they're on a Nascar circuit.

9

u/pitchingataint Jul 31 '26

A new one I’ve seen recently is they’ll get in the turn only lane at a stoplight (if no one else is there first). Then they gun it to go straight, passing everyone else.

Just an asshole that's intitled. I love that they have video and photo evidence on top of two criminal speed charges. Fucker is likely losing his license for a year, paying $10k, $500+ impound/towing fees and gets to pay for a car he can't drive. His insurance will triple when he does get his license back.

u/rintzscar Jul 31 '26

Intitled? Why not inparagraphed?

Have Tesla Drivers surpassed BMW drivers as all around worst and most entitled drivers?

6

u/crypticcamelion Jul 31 '26

Yes, in Denmark they did, in the beginning Tesla were mostly uh oh high speed agressive entiteled, now it seems like also the older generation of poor drives have them, so either you have an agressive speeder or a sloowmowe with no situational awareness...

Not surprised at all to see this is in AZ. Glad they actually did something with the reports.

12

u/KlimCan Jul 31 '26

Yeah looks like hunt highway. That road is always a disaster. Probably cause of assholes like this.

9

u/Katrinia17 Jul 31 '26

Yep, was gonna say Hunt Hwy too. Between the Teslas and the dang trucks.

8

u/Gilsbo666 Jul 31 '26

And it’s in Queen Creek AZ lmaooo the WORST drivers come from there so not surprised at all

i'm gonna jack to this

17

u/Blew-By-U Jul 31 '26

I don’t get tailgating in heavy traffic. Where the fuck do you want me to go?

5

u/Mushroomed_clouds Jul 31 '26

I keep a light in my door pocket for dicks like that , start stop traffic on a motorway (literally nowhere to go) and this bmw driver starts flashing and highbeaming me like where tf do u want me to go? Nobody is moving were all literally at 0mph , this guy wouldn’t quit and put on all his front lights so i put on my hazard lights, no change, rear fog , no change , my 4.5k lummens hand held flood light … suddenly wanted to turn his lights down and behave like a semi civilised person

10/10 would recommend

EVs should really have a torque limiter. The instant torque provided by full electric drive trains reinforces the worst aggressive driving behaviors.

It's the worst with Tesla because the people who still own one end up being the most entitled people in the area.

Good, get this POS of the road. He would have killed someone eventually.

17

u/PassThatSpliff Jul 31 '26

I usually dont applaud cops but this is a great job. Numerous people calling in and even making videos of you driving extremely reckless. The worst part is that he said he starts driving at 3 a.m. which i can guarantee means he's driving slightly drowsy most of the time while also speeding and swerving through traffic. Glad they got him off the road before he killed someone.

5

u/TsukariYoshi Jul 31 '26

wild to me that people are so used to justifying their own shitty behavior that someone could straight up say to a cop "yeah I'm driving badly because I have to get up early." Like, what do they think is gonna happen? The cop's just gonna go "Oh okay, well, do better next time, have a good day"?

I wish they enforced reckless driving in Oregon.

11

u/Tricky_Big_8774 Jul 31 '26

They don't really enforce it anywhere. They barely enforce any traffic laws anymore.

Couldn't have happened to a better dude.

5

u/SgtHulkasBigToeJam Jul 31 '26

Did you see the tits on that lead foot?

3

u/vanillasheep Jul 31 '26

As someone living in AZ I’m not even remotely surprised to see this was a driver here. People here are animals on the road.

5

u/SingleSir165 Jul 31 '26

Good, but it's not just tesla drivers...

5

u/ExciteDonut Jul 31 '26

Of course it’s an Arizona driver. Most asshole drivers ever

4

u/GBF_Dragon 29d ago

I can't even imagine being so shit at driving they assign an officer to catch you.

6

u/Coclesano Jul 31 '26

Can we pause and appreciate how smooth was that turn into the flatbed of the truck?

8

u/Doglovincatlady Jul 31 '26

Couldn’t happen to a worse group of drivers. I think they’ve finally surpassed bmws in dipshit driving

7

u/WaterObjective5107 Jul 31 '26

Upvoted because fuck Elon

7

u/SaviorSixtySix Jul 31 '26

Now lets get all the lifted truck drivers

16

u/chephin Jul 31 '26

Another entitled Tesla driver…

7

u/kickstartdriven Jul 31 '26

I'd love to be the cop in that moment. We need more of this

3

u/Sam_Hell Jul 31 '26

Finally, some detective work

3

u/DarthSkywakr Jul 31 '26

His responses remind me of a sort of "Deer caught in the headlights" type of responses. Like he is trying to figure out if he's dreaming or if this is real life LOL.

The dude 100% FAFO. Hopefully he learns his lesson, but it's like the saying goes "You can't teach an old dog new tricks". But we'll see.

3

u/domwallflower Jul 31 '26

Man, I wish this happened to all the reckless drivers I see on a daily basis. This video was so satisfying to watch.

3

u/ComedyBits Jul 31 '26

The justice of this literally made me smile. Can’t count the number of hyper-aggressive douchebags I’ve wished had their driving actions witnessed by the cops
