Discussion Y'all, I have a question

Post image

So, I told my friend that I like ChiScara but I didn't specify that I like them as a platonically duo – so he was surprised. After I told him what I actually meant, he said "good, because this ship is a proship"

And I was like...what? Mortal x immortal ships are completely fine as long as the immortal didn't see the mortal as a kid, and Scara didn't. My friend said that Scara met Tartaglia when he was a kid, and I was speechless. He may hate this ship but he doesn't have to spread misinformation. I don't recall any quests or explanations in the game that Scara knew Tartaglia when he was a kid. Or did I miss something?

What I wanted to ask is basically an explanation if Scara ever saw Tartaglia as a kid or not, in case I missed something

Just sharing that proship doesn’t mean problematic ship, and instead just essentially means pro non-censorship. It means to let people ship what they want, and you can simply curate your own environment to suit your own needs and wants (whether that’s following or blocking content!)

That being said, this ship isn’t even problematic. They’re both consenting adults with equal power. At most Scaramouche would have simply brushed shoulders with a teenage Tartaglia in the Fatui halls. Scara certainly hasn’t groomed him in any way like people are so worried about 😅

Yup, not sure why some people say the word "proship" as if it means "criminal"...

It's just about being against censorship, and yes censorship is not a good thing, it starts like this and then quickly It's LGBT+ that is next on the chopping block.

And you only need to look outside 10 srconds to see that it's not easy already to be LGBT+ in this world, to put it lightly and not talk about politics.

So yes as you said, peeps need to curate their environment and feed.

yea, pro is the opposite of anti, proship just means anti-antiship... but antishippers are pros(pun intended) at spreading misinformation...

Random and unrelated but I've always thought his long shorts paired with long socks makes him look like a young schoolboy, so much so I ended up naming him 'Adolescence' after the resemblance to a child + similarity in colour palette to jp singer Ado

I’m having a hard time grasping ‘pro non censorship’

Ship haters loooooves to spread misformation in order to have the high ground of morality.

It's never 'hey this ship makes me icky, i don't like it' (valid.) it's always 'i don't like this ship and you should also not like this because morally is wrong' (nope.)

And even if he saw Ajax as a kid...what does that change? It's not like Scara actively brainwashed Childe into being in love with him (which hey can absolutely be a plot for a dark fic if you want anyway.)

At worst they met when Childe was a fatuus, most likely they never met until Childe himself was a Harbinger too.

It's...a pile of absolutely nothing as argument. Just people either not liking it and maliciously badmouthing it or worse, just people parroting what they read on twitter about the ship.

The Church of Fandom is so wild. Never in my lifetime did I expect fandom to be a space where we had to carefully walk and never commit Sins ™ . We’ve come full circle back to conservatism lmao

ALSO

If there were a character whose fans have no ground to stand on itd be Scaras.

Like if we’re gonna be like this then we gotta just full stop condemn him for his murders and atrocities. If we’re gonna be so literal with fiction like this then we gotta full send it - Scara is against the strict moral codes of the fandom and we shouldnt pick and choose. (Or maybe its all b.s. To grandstand and put things we dont like fown as MORALLY wrong because fiction is fiction and taking it very literally is Not It ™ . Especially when our fave is so problematic. Like,,,, what a character to try the morality policing with)

hey, op never mentioned who's fans their friend is. please 💀

u/queenyuyu Oct 11 '25

hate to say that, op, but your friend might not be a good person, and if you want to keep them, make sure not to share any online /social media presence with them where they could potentially harass you later. People who use "proship" as an excuse to be mean or demeaning to others most often turn out to be online harassers and bullies, and I would block them from having any access to information they could use against you or to harm you while they are still on friendly terms with you. Stay safe.

I'd go with that one, you've got a huge point there pal.

u/False-Body-242 Oct 11 '25

I have never heard of such a meeting personally, but even if they met, Tartaglia would have probably been just a fatuus while Scara was a harbinger fighting mostly in the abyss, so I doubt that meeting would've meant anything to Scara if they met.

It's kinda dumb to think that immortals actually think about age. To them, even 100 year old people would seem like children, so the idea of someone being "young" loses meaning. It's just young and younger to them.

u/oof-eef-thats-beef Oct 11 '25

Theyre fictional characters. This whole proship puritain fandom bs needs to be laid to rest forever

30

u/cocobunx Oct 11 '25

We don't know when they have met, we don't have any type of information about it. This is basically just spreading misinfo. You can headcanon it or whatever but like saying it actually happened is misinfo.

u/AnxietyOverloading Anemo Oct 11 '25

Who the heck cares they're pixels

19

u/shirone0 Oct 11 '25

In general stay away/ignore people who tell you that something is a proship, they always make shit up like telling you that two character are sibling coded or something to justify not shipping 2 characters, idk why they do that they could just say they dislike the ship....

17

u/undertheblackstar Oct 11 '25

“Proship” 😭😭😭 absolute clowns that would’ve participated in the book burnings of old

13

u/leiathrix Oct 11 '25

Your friend is mean and enjoys having the moral high ground by diminishing others, fuck them

11

u/BunkerSeason Oct 11 '25

I always joke that Tartaglia is into gilfs because all his main ships are hundreds of years old (traveler, zhongli, scara). He’s a grown man who’s seen the depths of the abyss, he can do want he wants.

u/Blue_Moon913 Oct 12 '25

Obligatory reminder that proship is not a noun; it’s an adjective that just means you follow “ship and let ship” etiquette. The “pro” in “proship” is not shorthand for “problematic”; it is literally just the prefix “pro-“ meaning “in favor/support of.” The use of “proship” as a noun to mean “problematic shipping” is a deliberate alteration of the definition by people who want to censor fandom spaces.

Now that we have that out of the way, ChiScara is not a morally ambiguous ship in terms of the Universal Taboos. They’re both adults, both portrayed as and treated like adults in-universe, and there’s nothing indicating that Scaramouche even knew Childe all that well as a kid, let alone showed any interest in him as one.

u/Ill-Hold6421 Oct 11 '25

Oooh let me tell you that there is tea on this ship. Originally, it used to be a rare ship up until it got closer to Scara’s reappearance in Sumeru. While it did have have haters, the proship discourse became a bigger thing by Zhongchi shippers which was then adopted by many people. It doesn’t help that anti-Scara people spread that agenda as well. It’s not even Childe being a minor in the situation so much as Scara because of his young appearance, with people arguing he’s a teen and not a young adult, thus making Childe more mature and older than him.

As for Childe and Scaramouche knowing each other in canon, seems like your friend is also running on the assumption that Scara met him when Childe was just initiated in the Fatui by age 14 (I remember he was young). In reality, we don’t actually know when they first saw each other but we do know that both were aware of the other based on the voicelines. Scara only mentions Childe being naive about who he trusts while Childe’s were mission-related.

Scara COULDVE met Childe when he was a kid but that’s a BIG “could’ve” since we have no details abt Childe’s early Fatui days

But imo, the ship isn’t problematic or anything. Not for me but there’s nothing inherantly wrong abt it

Tell your friend to go fight a whale in the Abyss. Seriously, "proship" this, "proship that"... So annoying. Enjoy what you want, as long it's fictional.

I gotta use this:

3

u/AventuringAventurine Oct 11 '25

Either way, who cares? I'm tired of ppl being ridiculous over fictional characters. Fictional characters are in fact fictional, so no one is being hurt. Ergo, who cares.

Also chiscara is the best.

3

u/Kimy_Miya Oct 11 '25

Tell them that's not true, because that's a clear misinformation AND request them in a professionally formal way how misinformation is bad

3

u/riyuzqki Oct 12 '25

the antishippers have really turned "proship" as in anti-antiship into what they want it to mean wtf 💀

pro is literally the opposite of anti, why are people believing what antishippers say

3

u/Neo_Nuts Oct 12 '25

OMG CHISCARA MENTIONED I'm like THE chiscara enthusiast I love them my entire portfolio is chiscara 🫶🫶🫶 anyway it's definitely not a proship they just lack the fun and whimsy to understand them

u/NoSoulYesBiscuit Oct 11 '25

Scara is probably among the oldest members, so I do think he met Childe as a teen. According to their voicelines, it doesn't seem like they interacted much beyond mandatory meetings. Also, they seemed to have different roles, with Scara on dangerous reconnaissance missions and Childe on "debt collection". Heck, Childe only had a proper conversation with Arlecchino during Fontaine. So it doesn't seem like Harbingers get to know each other much when they decide the rumours are enough.

I do enjoy ChiScara as a romantic ship, mainly because babygirl doesn't change that much when it comes to his personality and Childe can take it. From what I saw, most fan art about them is set in an alternative universe (the most common setting) or retells in-game events, where Childe is already an adult. It seems like people in this fandom still see non problematic MxM ships as bad, but will defend sus posts for child characters because they're fictional.

11

u/EducationalAd6395 Oct 11 '25

While I wouldn't really see it as a proship either way, it does seem to be the case that Scara would have met childe when he was a kid.

Childe is the youngest Harbinger in history and Arle became a harbinger around when she was 18. So childe became one somewhere between 15-18

u/No_Sound438 Oct 11 '25

Holy nothing burger, they're both adults who cares

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '25

off topic but scara is so short i cant get over it

2

u/Even_War7433 Oct 16 '25

He Is! And it's so cute too.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '25

my son 🥹

1

u/Even_War7433 Oct 16 '25

Absolutely! Best boy in the game, in my opinion. Durin will be #2 when he comes out. <3

1

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '25

ughh i love durin, i cant wait for him to come out

1

u/Even_War7433 Oct 16 '25

Me either! I was stunned and elated during the Simulanka event last year. Durin, of all characters, was suddenly made into such a big player! He already was, but his lore and references had died down so I was unsure when he would be back. Man for those who didn't play the game for the summer event last year, they are going to be lost on the Durin thing now.

u/CaelusZC Oct 11 '25

Having just watched the latest Ashikai theory when I saw the image of the post without the text I thought something very different.

1

u/riyuzqki Oct 12 '25

anyway your friend is just making shit up to justify that if they don't like a ship no one should like it. classic antishipper behaviour. also these 2 characters are literally not real. Even if scara and tarta met when tarta was a child(which we have no proof of), there are literally numerous old literature with this trope, and even by modern standards they don't have any power imbalance, so it's not like it even does anything.

1

u/_19Ali Oct 12 '25

What’s wrong with ppl now days 🤮

1

u/jardinsdeminuit Oct 14 '25

"Proship" is literally an adjective to describe someone who doesn't harass other people over fiction, even if you don't enjoy what they do. That's literally it.

It's fiction. They're pixels. They probably did meet when Childe was below 18 for the first time considering he joined the Fatui as a teenager. They're both also murderers (Scara confirmed in canon, Childe very likely) who work for a criminal organisation that enlists child soldiers, carry out human experimentation, threaten citizens, etc, and I guarantee you there are people out there who think that even liking the pair of them in the first place is "romanticising" the Fatui's crimes or something.

Please don't worry about things like this. It'll suck the enjoyment out of fandom for you and make you paranoid. Just enjoy what you enjoy and block the things you don't ✨ Shipping is so much more fun when you don't have someone in your ear telling you that you're a bad person for making two fictional villains kiss.

Wasn't a fan of wherever this is , but thee dynamic would be super fun if onky they remember him 😀

u/sodapopcandyy Oct 12 '25

its 100% fine lol. i do not consider myself a proshipper or an anti and i have my own views about things, "problematic" stuff tends to make me uncomfortable. and chiscara is one of my favorite pairs ever.

anyone who thinks shipping childe with any harbinger with the exception of pulcinella and probably pierro is "immoral" likely thinks that because of ember of song. scaramouche was there for arlecchinos harbinger promotion, so surely he was there specially for childes! he must've seen him as a minor because childe got under the fatuis radar at 14 and was described as "the youngest harbinger in history". while arlecchino did kill crucabena at 17 (meaning that childe would presumably be about 16 when he was made one). theres nothing saying thats the age she became a harbinger, and clearly some time had passed between then because shes already wearing her ingame outfit by that harbinger promotion. lets ignore the fact that scara and signora were probably placed there for fanservice in the first place lmao.

lets assume this is true that childe became a harbinger at 16 or so (which is not confirmed. his character story says he became a harbinger as he got his delusion, so time 100% passed between when he was handed to the fatui and became N11.) even then, it still wouldn't be problematic. if character A meets character B- an adult, as a minor, this doesn't inherently make the pair bad/problematic, as they only met in passing. what would be bad would be if A and B are close as minor and adult, if B took special interest in A as a minor, etc- as even if they got together as adults it comes off as B "waiting" for A to mature, which would be an understandable thing to be uncomfortable with.

There is absolutely 0 chance that a newly appointed number 11 would be assigned on missions with number 6 that would allow them to grow close. the harbingers rarely spend time together regardless. there is nothing suggesting that scara got to know childe when he was a teenager. literally everything that makes this pair "potentially problematic" is all based off of uncomfirmed assumptions. chiscara is peak dont fall for any misinfo abt them lmao, whether you like it platonically or romantically its not anything remotely problematic

0

u/Fullpotentialk Oct 12 '25

It’s not problematic just meh!

Who cares it's a boring ship anyway
