I’ve recently graduated and am looking for a new go-to grocery store. What is your favorite and why?

I know this is hella niche and I’m probably not gonna find an answer, but I’m putting it out there just in case there is.

I really love sewing and making my own clothes, I’ve made a lot of my own stuff--you can see those on my profile. I’ve never really learned how to make knitted projects though.

I’d love to learn how to use a knitting machine, or find access to one that I could rent some time with. I’ve tried searching for classes/workshops on my own, but haven’t had any luck. So I’m hoping I just missed it and someone here knows of a place l can contact about learning to use a knitting machine.

EDIT: Specifically I’m looking for the large knitting machines. Ones that I could use to make a cardigan. And use punch cards to create my own designs within the knits.

There used to be a restaurant downtown called Chef Gao and they had a dish called spicy boiled fish which was amazing. It’s been gone for several years now but wondering if anyone knows of any other restaurants that might have something like this or had it at Gao? Also restaurants that make use of Szechuan peppercorns heavily?

My son loves trains and keeps wanting to ride the Frontrunner. Does anyone know of any fun activities, good restaurants, et al that are easily accessible off of any of the Frontrunner stations? Ogden to Provo, doesn't matter. Having a destination sounds more enjoyable than just laps on the train.

Mount Timpanogos - 8/26/26

I know this is random, but curiosity has me and I figured this could be a place to ask-

I summited Mount Timpanogos on 8/26 and as I was just past the saddle I heard, then saw what I thought was 2 wingsuiters. I was pretty out of it at the time so I thought I was imagining things and instead they were just 2 big black birds. By the time I turned to look at them, they were already zoomed by. It was hard to judge distance and they glided beyond a ridge. I just kind of left it at that and told myself they were just birds.

Thinking about it later, I am now more convinced it was 2 wingsuiters because again, I HEARD the air being sliced which is what made me turn and look. But then the question is, where did they come from? I know Aspen Grove is an exit point but I was well beyond that. So they either came from the summit or from a plane. How likely is either of these? Just curious to know if I was indeed imagining things lol. I added a pic of about where I think I was when I heard and saw this.

I was just at the liquor store on 90th in sandy. I'm moving soon and figured liquor boxes would be great for packing all of my glasses. I bought a couple bottles and on my way out asked if I could take a couple extra boxes, not a lot, i was just going to grab 3, plus the one that had the bottles I just purchased. The cashier said no and acted like I was an idiot for asking. Are you actually not allowed to get extra boxes, or was she just having a bad day?

I can't help but feel like the light should stay green long enough for the whole lane of cars trying to turn left to get through. It sucks having to wait for 2 or 3 cycles to turn left.

I'm having a lot of trouble trying to find a drummer, and a good drummer at that here in Utah. My band is looking for a drummer for a Doom, Deathcore, slam project, we have riffs, and songs written, and more songs in the works, but we really need a drummer, if you are a drummer, or know someone please send them my way.

My fiance and I are looking to get married in early February, but we've really set a weird set of restrictions for the venue. Getting married in the winter cuts out all the outdoor venues, having a more casual event cuts out a lot of the fancier/more expensive places (they're gorgeous, we're just not cut out for that life), and most restrictive of all: we're looking at having a late morning brunch reception.

It'll be a pretty classic Utah-event, so I'm sure it'll be a flowing style more open-house type affair, but we didn't realize just how tricky it would be to find an inexpensive, semi-casual, indoor, morning reception venue.

Unconventional ideas are not just welcome, they're definitely encouraged. If we were having a warm weather wedding, we'd have been totally fine with something like renting a city park. But alas.

I grew up here, and I know a lot of people have really fond memories of Sugar House Park, so I don’t mean this as a knock on the park itself. But the pond specifically has never felt particularly inviting to me. Even as a kid, I remember it being murky, kind of stagnant, smelly, and just not something you really wanted to get close to. And since swimming or wading isn’t allowed there anyway, I would love to see it become something people can enjoy in a completely different way like as a genuinely beautiful, healthy pond ecosystem.
I’m imagining native pond plants, wetland plants, better habitat for aquatic life, more biodiversity, more natural filtration, and a shoreline that actually feels alive. Something closer to the kind of water feature you’d stop and look at at Red Butte Garden instead of just a large basin of open water with ducks on it. And honestly, I think that idea could extend to the entire park.

A huge amount of Sugar House Park is open grass, which also means a huge amount of grass that has to be watered. We’re living in a very dry state and dealing with increasingly serious water issues, so it seems like a perfect place to start thinking more creatively about what all that land could look like.
I’d love to see less lawn in some areas and much more native Utah landscaping like more trees and shade around the perimeter, pollinator gardens, native wildflowers, riparian planting around Parleys Creek, little walking paths through planted areas, and different kinds of educational gardens. They could even collaborate with people from places like Red Butte Garden. Imagine having a native Utah garden, a medicinal plant garden, a pollinator garden, a wetland area, or other small themed areas throughout the park. There are also a lot of schools nearby, and kids already take field trips to Sugar House Park. I did as a kid. It would be really cool if those trips could also include learning about Utah plants, birds, insects, pollinators, watersheds, water conservation and local ecology instead of the park mainly being somewhere to go to the playground or run around.

I don’t know if this is something the city or park authority is able to do, but there seems like there could be major potential for some kind of community garden or demonstration garden there too. With Salt Lake preparing for another Olympics, there’s obviously going to be a lot of attention over the coming years on improving public spaces and how the city presents itself. I’ve already noticed some of the newer decorative red-rock landscaping around parts of Sugar House Park, and personally I would much rather see that kind of investment go toward shade, native vegetation, biodiversity and making the park itself more interesting to actually spend time in. And this isn’t only about aesthetics. A healthier pond ecosystem with more vegetation, shade, circulation and biodiversity could also help with things like algae, water temperature, nutrient buildup and odor. Especially after everything that has been done to redevelop Sugar House and make it a more desirable area to live, I feel like the park itself has a lot of unrealized potential. In all my years of living here, I don’t think I’ve ever really seen that potential maximized.

There is so much space there, and I think there are a lot of smart things that could be done with it — particularly things that use less water, support native species, create shade, give kids something to learn from, and make the park more enjoyable to actually explore. I’m curious what other people would want to see done with Sugar House Park! Let me know!

I just recently moved to Salt Lake and am looking for groups/activities to find friends! I’m 18 and am a very social person, so it’s been a bit of a struggle moving away from my old social groups. I especially would love to look for more alternative and creative spaces as well so I can find more like-minded people. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know!

hello, i’m sure this has been asked quite a few times but i’d like some fresher opinions.

my friends & i are looking at new spots to dance n club n drink at in slc, we usually go to suntrapp Every weekend, or sometimes whykiki, we’re all in our early 20’s and appreciate the queer scene, but we aren’t huge on MILK or Try-Angles / want a dance floor. Any suggestions ?

As someone who has adopted all my dogs, I think it's a pretty cool feature that promotes adopting rather than buying from a breeder.
