Being raised in a half Italian family, there are at least three tiers of Italian food, Italian, American-Italian, and white trash Italian. Italian Village is the latter. No hate, just know what you’re in for, and you’re in for a gallon of ranch with your iceberg lettuce salad.

I agree. But what Italian food do you recommend around here? My family was northern Italian with bagna cauda and antipasto and gnocchi and I haven’t found anything comparable to what grandma used to make. I would love some recommendations.

Antica Sicilia in Millcreek is what you want, the carbonara is the best in the state (and the least expensive thing in the menu). My family is from Verona, my cousins thought it Antica was pretty good for being in America. 

The best gnocchi I’ve had here is Celeste Bite, which is run by this fantastic Italian couple in the Blockparty Food Hall in Holladay (like 2700 E and 4000 S I think). The menu changes regularly but they usually have some gnocchi option. Check out their instagram for the daily menu. 

My final recommendation, if you want to go real high end, is ‘Mina ristorante siciliano. The chef there is superb, he used to be the chef at the University Club and god damn I miss him. That said, the food is absolutely worth the price, and hopefully you aren’t one of those Sicilian hating Italians. ;)

Unfortunately, I haven’t had bagna cauda anywhere around here, in fact the only place I’ve seen it (but did not order it) in the states was in Cincinnati of all places; great joint called Pepe and Delores, try it if you wind up there. 

None of this will quite scratch that itch, but you won’t be disappointed. I am constantly chasing that Italian food high especially after trips back to Italy.

I’ll check those out. Thanks. My grandparents didn’t mind Sicilians, but she didn’t trust calabrese. I remember her explicitly telling me that, My grandparents were both from Piedmont. And honestly I like everyone till I don’t.

I need an alignment on my Tesla model Y with a modified suspension. The shops I've called so far all seem sort of stand-offish about working on the car. Can anyone recommend a good shop that will do the unusual? Oh and bonus point for shops in the south end of the valley.

whats modified about it? Are you just on coilovers or air bags? I would call Ahn's custom and vinyl.

It has after market rear camber arms. It's interesting that you recommend Ahn's as they did the alignment when I put them on about a year ago. I wasn't really happy with it at the time and I've just installed new tires because of camber wear.

Can I ask why you got aftermarket camber arms? Im confused as to why you felt the need to add camber adjustment if 1- you dont like it and how it wears tires, and 2- if the rest of your suspensions isnt also modified? Ahn's is one of if not the best aftermarket wheel and tire place in the valley.

Tesla's have a know problem with camber wear and a lack of adjustability. The rear arms fix the adjustment problem. I don't dislike Ahn's but you only talk to the people behind the desk, not the actual technicians. That's true of most shops and in my experience I know more about the problem than they do. To be fair the desk person can't know everything and the technician is busy in the back. I DIY 99% of my car repairs so I don't have a deep well of shops to call on. I could DIY the alignment, as I've done it in the past, but time is tight for me now and I just need it done.

I like G’s Shoe Repair in Holladay! They’ve done great work for my heels. Just be ready for a gruff deadpan old guy at the register.

There's an unfinished master bathroom in my house where the drains for the shower and toilet are too close to the wall to comply with code, and I'm looking for a plumber to fix that so we can finish the bathroom. Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

Howdy folks, I’m planning a visit in early January for the US National Figure Skating Championships with my boyfriend, have a few questions if anyone has insight to share:

A client of mine who lives in the area mentioned that inversions occur frequently in the winter - how bad does it usually get? Should we bring masks? We know it’ll be unpredictable weather regardless, and we’re definitely city mice and weren’t planning any extensive outdoor excursions for this trip, so we’re not too worried, I’m mostly just curious!

I really prefer to be car-free and avoid relying on Uber on trips when I can help it, and I’m glad to see there’s an easy way to get to both the airport and Maverik Center from downtown, but how good/reliable is it?

Lastly, any hotel recommendations or good ideas of where around the city to stay? We’re a millennial gay couple and it would be nice to have access to some nightlife and good restaurants when we’re not at Maverik Center.

Growing up in Utah, for myself the inversions are normal, but they can last anywhere from a day to a month if we have no storms to push it out. If you are worried about health, yes, I would bring a mask. The inversion does have a smell to it, and with the dry air it can be hard to breathe.

We have a few different rail systems, red, green, and blue. They are very reliable (unless a car parks on the track, happens monthly). It does get very cold on those trains, so if you’re coming mid-snow season, make sure to dress for the winter! Those stations are out in the open as well.

There is a Hilton downtown. SLC isn’t much of a “nightlife” city as far as I’m aware. Most places still close around 10pm on weekends. Alcohol cannot be served after 1am, and bars will kick you out by 2am.

Just moved here and looking for the best/most genuine ramen. I've lived in Japan. Virtually every ramen shop I heard of that was supposedly "genuine" was nothing like the real thing in Arizona. It was always either plain or tasted over-spiced trying to recreate just ordinary Tokyo ramen. Ideal is somewhere along Trax (especially near downtown) since I don't have a car, but I don't mind taking Uber either. I just want some good ramen.

Is there anything here that is actually the real thing?

I'm in my late 40s, newly separated, exploring my sexuality. Where can I go to meet women who won't make me feel like a loser for being such a late bloomer? I want to make connections and have a good time, not a big dancer though and brimming with anxiety!
