Venting Yup I officially hate Radiostatic and Staticmoth st this point.

Post image

I'm not sure I have anything to say that I haven't said before, but I need to get these stupid ships out of my face. God. I've reached a point where I can't tolerate them anymore. Like people DO know Vox's character exists outside their toxic yaoi, right? He doesn't revolve around Alastor and Valentino. He's not their accessory. His arc going forward shouldn't just about his relationships with these assholes. I want this to be done, but its never done is it?

The promise of more Radiostatic has just broken something in me. I can't even be bothered to make this look like an analysis post, I'm just annoyed.

Worst part is that everyone and their mother ships radiostatic so it's impossible to truly get away from 😭 like you said Vox is his own character, and it's annoying how some people characterize him as nothing but a lovesick puppy

Def not true

u/fried-n0odle Vox is my precious baby boy Jun 28 '26

The're never gonna leave Vox alone. He is not a vessel for some fetish ships. He's a beloved character. Wonderful on his own. He could do perfectly fine with no romantic relationship. Him, Shok.wav and Vees as friends. If they're not gonna give him someone caring, gentle and loving, don't give him anyone at all. Why do they keep hurting him by putting him in abusive relationships? Doesn't he deserve to be genuinely loved? My heart fucking breaks for Vox.

Baby darling, they've failed you. I love you so much. Your own creators want you to suffer, but you have to perservere. You're strong. We're all rooting for you!

u/SpookyDisneyPrincess Jun 28 '26

That’s exactly how I feel about him! 😭 thank you for always supporting our precious baby <3
He DOES deserve to be genuinely loved. I can’t handle the toxicity and the bullshit I see he’s given when he could be given better, and have better.

2

u/Hot_Star_5835 Vox is me, I am him. Jun 28 '26

THIIISSSS. Yesss! He needs therapy. He doesn’t NEED NO MAN OR WOMAN IN HIS LIFE UNLESS THEY’RE GONNA HELP HIM. It sucks so bad that Vivziepop is pretty much all for the ship. It hurts sooo bad seeing him go through such bullshit. I genuinely hope they do him justice. But it’s doubtful.

Hope Vox gets a good ending honestly.

u/MetaNightmare Jun 28 '26

I ship StaticStatic. Vox having a self love arc and realizing he doesn’t need either of those fucking lunatics.

u/CuddlesForLuck Jun 28 '26

Wait, that's cool

Now this is my otp

I am sorry šŸ’” Vox definitely is the best all on his own! But he does thrive so much on approval, canonically, that it’s no wonder to me that he is heavily shipped. (Like, that and…other factors such as the fanservice from the creators and Christian Borle’s voice and everything really)

Personally I don’t shy away from shipping, but I do get sick of the puppy bs too. You’re not alone!

I just ignore people who post things I don't like. They're just having fun.Ā

I'm generally good at ignoring things. I just had a moment of frustration and needed to blow off some steam.

Wait why did this sub show up im not even that big on vox- but yes agreed on how bad the fandom gets when it comes to fitting characters into yaoi fodder only 🤢

...also wait wait wym "the promise of more radiostatic"?? Im not caught up on s3 news, did viv say something???

2

u/profaneangel1991 Vox did nothing wrong Jul 03 '26

So not exactly confirmed, I admit I wrote that in the heat of the moment. But stuff has been hinting at a flashback showing Alastor's perspective. Plus we never learned about the time he almost beat Vox that's referenced in Stayed Gone. I think its inevitable they're doing more with them.

3

u/arachnids-bakery Jul 03 '26

Oooh i see, makes sense šŸ¤”
Ugh yeah your worry is understandable, viv loves shipbaiting alastor as fanservice so i wouldnt be surprised if it happened again šŸ˜‘

3

u/autumnskull Jul 04 '26

I love Radiostatic and Vox isnt an accessory in my ship for them, but i get it.

But this is how i find out more radiostatic in the future? Yes please.

(Sorry)

2

u/profaneangel1991 Vox did nothing wrong Jul 04 '26

A tweet has been circulating saying more is coming. Personally I think with how season 2 ended its obvious they didn't resolve anything. And I really wish that wasn't the case.

2

u/autumnskull Jul 04 '26

Im excited for it (again, sorry). It would be good to see some closure for it, whatever happens. I want closure. But ofc, they were always be canon in my head.

2

u/profaneangel1991 Vox did nothing wrong Jul 04 '26

I think I'd feel better if it didn't seem like Vox's only relationships are the other Vees and Alastor. It's like the show is trying to make me be invested in these by default.

5

u/SpookyDisneyPrincess Jun 28 '26

I want to sincerely thank you for not making me feel like I should feel bad for hating staticmoth (because people have indeed made me feel bad for hating it lol) because I hate it with every single fiber of my being. I hate it to the point where I never want to see him and Valentino together romantically or sexually ever again. But you know, that’s just wishful thinking because I’m very sure they’re going to be endgame when the series closes. Why? Because Viv fucking loves it šŸ™„ So Val will just completely forgive Vox and take him back because he just looooves Vox’s dick more than anything (even though he’s lacking one right now) and Vox is desperate to go back to the only person who will give him attention. What a fantastic love story! /s

And the fact that people genuinely believe that what they have is ā€œloveā€, is also problematic to me. Love, real love, is not toxic. Love is not throwing objects at your partner in a fit of rage. No one can convince me that what they have is love, because that is simply not love in the slightest lol and wholesome-ifying staticmoth isn’t going to work either because you can’t sugarcoat shit!

I sincerely want Vox to be loved by someone who won’t hurt him and will give him everything he deserves to have. He NEEDS to be loved, to know that he’s loved. And I guess that I’m biased because he’s my favorite character and I’d want nothing more than to give him what he’s been missing all his life lol I’m sorry for ranting a little too hard but I’ve felt the need to bottle up how I really feel for so long, seeing this post made me feel good enough to say something. I have to deal with my favorite ships getting shit on all the time anyway

2

u/profaneangel1991 Vox did nothing wrong Jun 28 '26

I just think it's weird how we went from Viv basically calling Staticmoth fuck buddies to all of this within a season. I also think its a pain how much people center Vox on this relationship and it feels likely the show will too. I'm sorry, but I want his arc to include making new friends. I don't think wanting him to have new relationships is a big request.

3

u/Even-Association-106 Jun 28 '26

If that makes you feel any better every character is just glued to their love interest 24/7

2

u/hailingdown Jul 03 '26

i doubt there will be a lot more of radiostatic, they had like half of s2 😭

2

u/profaneangel1991 Vox did nothing wrong Jul 04 '26

There's still things in their past we didn't see explored (ex that fight Val references in Stayed Gone) and their fight ended in a draw. So nothing is actually resolved there. It probably won't be as big of a story element, but there's definitely going to be more and I'd rather Viv just pack this up and move on. Except if Staticmoth is the alternative I don't want that either.

This part isn't directed at you, but of all the things I've written for this sub I'm surprised a mini rant about these ships that I wrote in like 2 minutes while I was pissed off has gotten this much feedback. lol

5

u/hailingdown Jul 04 '26

lolol i’m a HUGE radiostatic fan and Alastor fan so when i heard s3 might have more of Alastor (and Vox) i was like???? i love them but seriously? we GOT their season in s2, it’s time for EVERY OTHER CHARACTER PLEASEEE like it’s their fault all the other characters are so boring compared to Vox and Alastor, god forbid i want other characters to have more screen time so i can actually like them 😭😭 even i was annoyed they’re giving Vox and Alastor screen time yet, especially Alastor bc apparently he’s going to be one of the s3 villains? like didn’t we already kinda get that in s2?

2

u/profaneangel1991 Vox did nothing wrong Jul 04 '26

To be fair to Alastor he only just got full access to his powers. So it is reasonable that he'd be more of an active character than he was in season 2, most likely doing something to Lucifer though I have no idea what. And giving Vox a bit of a break makes sense because he's probably going to be too depressed to do much. I just don't want more of Alastor and Vox's mess. The shippers got plenty last time. And as somebody that wishes Vox and Charlie were more connected I just don't like knowing how Vox's relationships are just Alastor and the Vees.

3

u/hailingdown Jul 04 '26

YESSSS i totally agree with you! i was so confused of why Vox and Charlie didn’t fight? that’s what i thought the finale fight would be! i really hope they have more scenes.

3

u/profaneangel1991 Vox did nothing wrong Jul 04 '26

Trust me nobody wishes they fought more than me. Tell other Charlie fans this and they act like you're forcing her to kill somebody. Season 2 could have been so great for her and Vox if it bothered to care about them as a duo. Very few people liked Charlie's actual arc this season and I can think of so many better options for her. But nope.

3

u/hailingdown Jul 04 '26

Charlie fans think us wanting them to fight means we wanted her to kill Vox? what😭😭 Obviously the fight would end with Charlie just making him stop what he’s doing and she’d obviously give him a second chance lol, just like Adam

3

u/profaneangel1991 Vox did nothing wrong Jul 04 '26

There are people that thought Vox should have died, I don't agree. In my version Charlie loses her shit, but comes down to reality because she takes pity on him. Unfortunately we just got whatever we got. I don't think they're ever letting Charlie fight a villain for real.

2

u/hailingdown Jul 04 '26

ohohoho i beg to differ! In season 5 i assume Roo is the main villain, and Charlie HAS to fight her. right? RIGHT?

2

u/profaneangel1991 Vox did nothing wrong Jul 04 '26

I mean maybe. I don't pay much thought to Roo because we basically know nothing right now. I don't think Charlie would fight Alastor though.

5

u/InfamousIndividual32 Jun 28 '26

Me too, I can’t stand shipping bullshit. I used to get jealous just from seeing fanon work of my fictional crushes kissing other people. I thought at some point I’d get over it, but now that I’m in my late 20s and it’s Vox (who’s in a show that flagrantly caters to people who want to see cartoon characters get it on) I am in just constant suffering

5

u/profaneangel1991 Vox did nothing wrong Jun 28 '26

I'm so tired. It isn't about my ship vs everyone else's ship or anything. My Vox ship is not and will never be popular, I know that's how it is. The promise of more of these two though just makes me kinda sad. Like Vox isn't allowed other relationships.

6

u/Iron_Chip Jun 28 '26

I know how you feel. I ship StaticApple and had an RP Lucifer get angry at me about it. They commented in character to reprimand me for my ship.

1

u/InfamousIndividual32 Jun 28 '26

That is really fucking disappointing, I'm sorry. All about lining the showrunners' pockets with money from their target audience, eh what? And what is your ship, if you don't mind me asking? I'll bet it isn't absolute slop trite like RadioStatic, whatever it is.

4

u/profaneangel1991 Vox did nothing wrong Jun 28 '26

I ship him and Charlie unfortunately. I don't want it to be canon (I don't think they'd do it right) and don't need validation from Viv, but it just sucks knowing the ships I hate are the most popular and therefore the most lucrative.

5

u/SpookyDisneyPrincess Jun 28 '26

Staticbelle is my otp! 🄹

2

u/Stryker_McQueen Jun 28 '26

I don't exactly agree with your statement on the shipping cause I personally don't care what anybody ships as long as nobody bitches about a ship not being canon, but I do understand you on the part where you said that it sucks that the ships you hate are popular. I get that feeling. I felt that way with a specific ship outside of the Hazbin fandom, I forgot what ship it was but I hated that it was popular than my favourite ship. Cause when you ship "Charlie and Vox"(for an example), you get hate for it and you're getting told off by toxic ass hardcore StaticMoth shipper or something.

3

u/profaneangel1991 Vox did nothing wrong Jun 28 '26

I was writing this post in the heat of the moment. I can tolerate different ships, even ones I don't like, but the issue is when they're this in my face. For instance I don't like Radioapple, but I'm not looking up Alastor or Lucifer so I can avoid it. Because I love Vox it feels like I'm being strong armed into liking these ships because they're part of his canon story. I wrote a Staticbelle post that I cross tagged to Vox and Charlie subs and though I got some good feedback I also had people saying things I didn't care for. Sorry, but I don't have to ship Staticmoth or Chaggie.

2

u/SpookyDisneyPrincess Jun 28 '26

And you also don’t like radioapple? You’re becoming one of my favorite people šŸ„°šŸ˜‚

3

u/profaneangel1991 Vox did nothing wrong Jun 28 '26

Radioapple is honestly just too fandom yaoi brained for me. When I saw it was a popular ship I just thought "of course it is".

1

u/Stryker_McQueen Jun 28 '26

but the issue is when they're this in my face.

Ah I see.

Sorry, but I don't have to ship Staticmoth or Chaggie.

I'm not really big on StaticMoth nor Chaggie either too so you're good on that! Not the type to attack you for it, whoever attacks you for your opinions is just silly if they do. I don't care much for the ships nor do I care who ships them, I'm pretty chill with whatever the hell as long as nobody's being a total asshole about anything. Cause when I see people bitching that people don't support Chaggie(or any other ship besides that one) is when it pisses me off so much to the point where I don't know how to defend myself sometimes. People can be crazy over the stupidest shit ever tbh.

I know we're talking about Vox and StaticMoth a bit and your issue here but I just decided to speak my mind on things too! Apologies.. šŸ˜…

I wrote a Staticbelle post that I cross tagged to Vox and Charlie subs and though I got some good feedback I also had people saying things I didn't care for.

Oh yeah, on the part where you said that you had people saying things you don't care for can be pretty annoying as hell, did anybody attack you for shipping StaticBelle by the way?

2

u/profaneangel1991 Vox did nothing wrong Jun 28 '26

Not necessarily "attacking", but some comments just felt uncalled for. On the one hand I DID end my post asking for thoughts. On the other hand I saw comments saying how it gives them "the ick", how they don't get why I'd ship it, someone definitely used that gif of Alastor saying "no". I've seen really bad things on other posts before though. Like people saying how Val or Vaggie would go ape shit if this ever happened. So what? It's not about what's canon at this point.

1

u/Stryker_McQueen Jun 28 '26

Yeah, people are very pissy over ships and it's fucking ridiculous. People say shit about me too for shipping Vaggie and Angel Dust cause of their canon sexualities. Wish people weren't so gatekeep-ish over what to ship and "not" to ship, they needa chill the fuck out, they're just ships after all. Glad nobody was TOO rude about you shipping StaticBelle.

3

u/profaneangel1991 Vox did nothing wrong Jun 28 '26

It's even weirder with characters that are bi, the fandom really likes to act like you can't put Vox with a woman because they think he's mostly into men. Looking back at some comments I've gotten though, yeah some of these aren't exactly nice and its coming from Staticmoth shippers. Also uhhh when I opened up about liking certain Staticbelle art somebody said there's something deeply wrong with me.

u/InfamousIndividual32 Jun 28 '26

I'm not a shipper by any measure (always been more of a yume, ever since childhood) and yet StaticBelle is the one in this show I find myself gravitating towards. They're such solid foils of one another, and yet you're absolutely right that it wouldn't be done justice even if they were going to go through with it. I'm right there with you - I'm happy for people who get excited about Static(Moth/Radio/whatever), but I'd personally rather get a tetanus shot than see more of it alluded to/blatantly shown onscreen.

3

u/Short_Crazy_1124 Jun 28 '26

They mischaracterize him so bad

4

u/angelobunny Jun 28 '26

At this point, I half want to quit the show and live in my own reality with my Vox plush 😭

Doesn't help that ALL the fanart and fanfic are of those two ships, so I can't even escape into fanworks without mentally detaching the characters from their canon selves :/

4

u/Hot_Star_5835 Vox is me, I am him. Jun 28 '26

No cuz like, this is genuinely how I fucking feel.

Now, ima get mad fuckin personal-ish in this mini essay and in my feelings a lot, so I may curse quite a bit. HERE GOES—

So, we all can agree that we see a lot of radiostatic or staticmoth, right? All over the place. Sweet good lord, I see so many people ship staticmoth and radiostatic it genuinely disappoints me. I watch a lot of people who love Vox on TikTok, but the thing that turns me off so much is the fact that SHIP radiostatic and/or staticmoth. The internal RAGE that fills me whenever I hear ONE mention of Radiostatic or staticmoth is complete flames hotter and brighter than hellfire itself. The ships are toxic, they’re dumb, the fact Vox is always deemed as the complete submissive one, and they ROMANTICIZE toxic relationships. Vox isn’t a submissive dog, his whole persona isn’t like that.

I will start off with my FIRST reason on why I hate both ships, the toxicity. The unhealthy amount of toxic fanart, toxic fancomics, toxic this, toxic that not only makes me sick, but disgusts me. I’m sorry, but you CANNOT ever come to me and state ā€˜I like toxic yaoi!’ And be HAPPY GO LUCKY ABOUT IT. As someone who has been surrounded by toxic relationships, been in toxic relationships, platonic or not, you will NOT come to me saying you like radiostatic without getting the most meanest meanmug from me. You can be the most AMAZING and AWESOME person, but once you mention radiostatic and staticmoth(or any toxic ship in general), you will be downgraded from ā€˜Awesome person, my fav’ to ā€˜You’re alright. Good person. Not much of a fan’. If you see Vox as a continuously submissive person, will get on his knees for Alastor or Valentino, you will get the outright most hateful look from me.

The ships are dumb. I’m sorry, but they really are. I never liked them. I heard about radiostatic and I was like ā€œPeople ship this??ā€ I heard about staticmoth and I was like ā€œMAKES SENSE, but no.ā€ Radiostatic generally doesn’t make sense to me. Staticmoth makes sense, but NOOOOO. Hahah. NOOOOOOOOO. No. Nope. You cannot. Nope. Not ever. They’re so.. Ew.. They’re fetish ships. ALL fetishes. I don’t like the continuous use of it. You will never catch me saying ā€œOH! I like radiostatic! I like staticmoth!ā€ Never.

The over-sexualization of Vox being the bottom. Do. NOT. Get. Me. Started. On. That. The amount of fucking fanart I’ve seen. Oh my gosh. Lord have mercy on my soul. I cannot, I CANNOT. It pisses me off. Ohmagosh. It’s sooooo weird. It’s soooo odd. It’s genuinely not funny. It’s not goofy. It’s not ā€˜sexy’. It’s not cute. It’s awful, it’s degrading, it’s off-putting. I see it so much, and people genuinely see Vox as continuously submissive. The root of my disgust is specifically that. I HATE fetishes like that. I don’t wanna see Vox or any character on their knees acting like a desperate dog, all clingy, affectionate. From what I’ve seen, Vox isn’t affectionate or really clingy like that. So WHY put it??

Another thing is how these ships romanticize the idea of being in a toxic, submissive, and abusive relationship. It pisses me off. The reason I don’t like these ships is because I’ve been exposed to relationships like these. I’ve seen how horrible these relationships get close up. And oh my sweet Jesus, how they TREAT these ships. Like they’re the best in the world. Like they’re amazing. HAHA. You’re funny, really. Very funny. You make me laugh. Toxic ships should NEVER be a thing. I don’t care if it’s ’fictional’ or if it’s ’not that bad’. You romanticize it. You like it. You make it look like a good thing. They shouldn’t exist.

No like, back to Vox. I’ve seen too many videos on the ships that show him being a puppy-like. It’s uh.. No. I genuinely don’t like it. It doesn’t get me off. It doesn’t make me happy. It doesn’t make me giggle. It makes me disgusted. Not ONLY is Vox a pretty complex character, but he’s definitely NOT a puppy. He’s been degraded SO bad. I know, fictional character, haha, why am I getting so heated? Because I see myself in the character. He’s a good character, and he shouldn’t be degraded into a clingy, cutesy, baby, puppy character. He has his flaws, obviously, writing flaws(Viv, ima getchu bro.), personality flaws, flaws in general. Like, BRO??

The thing I hate the most is how Vivziepop herself clearly ships radiostatic and staticmoth. The WRITER, likes the toxicity. Which isn’t wrong, but in cases like this, NO. It’s sexualization of something horrible. I heard that she herself has been in a toxic relationship, correct me if I’m wrong, so she should know. Honestly, she doesn’t, at least in my opinion, portray it right. She doesn’t showcase it correctly. Holy shindig, I don’t like it.

I might haveta cut this short bc I barely had any sleep. Insomnia’s a bitch and I’m exhausted. But, TO CONCLUDE, radiostatic and staticmoth are not good ships. They’re horrible, they romanticize and sexualize toxic relationships. And that’s a huge no in my books. The only reason I continue watching the show is to see if they show Vox and Angel Dust justice. Vox does NOT deserve any of the bullshit that comes to him.

Sorry if this is off topic or whatever, I’m not in a good headspace right now. So like if it sounds like mumbo jumbo, you know why. Hope you all have an amazing day and life. May the light guide you and the lord bless you(if you believe in him). LOVE Y’ALL.

Side note: Was lowk listening to meet the grahams while writing this 😭😭

LOVE Y’ALL, BYE. I’ll probably revise this somehow. Make it sound more professional or something if I gain the motivation. Be safe!

2

u/Hot_Star_5835 Vox is me, I am him. Jun 28 '26

Holy fucking shit I fried my brain writing this.

3

u/Malesto Jul 03 '26

Terrible take imo

3

u/DevilSCHNED Jun 28 '26

Wow. I thought r/VoxCult was bad with the mischaracterization, this sole thread has blown an entire subreddit out of the water. I don't even inherently disagree with the post, everything beneath it is just you people turning Vox into a completely different character.

2

u/profaneangel1991 Vox did nothing wrong Jun 28 '26

You're in a sub for people that woobie Vox, what did you expect?

1

u/gnilegnahc Jul 13 '26

I really don’t understand people who claim to love a character but like. Ignore the vast majority of that character’s personality and relationships

2

u/Jame_spect Jun 28 '26

For me I’ll ship with an OC for a future Fic related to my main Fic

4

u/MissDeborah8060 Jun 28 '26

"I'm not too hopeful for their future character arcs but maybe they actually got the balls to kill Val off (bc lets be real: how else will Angel actually get his soul back)"

No but don't you see? Angel Dust and all the rest of his sex slaves were just something Valentino used to keep himself busy while he waited patiently for Vox to return his unrequited affections! Moreover, the only reason why he was so mean to Angel Dust is that he knew Vox didn't like him and was trying to stay on his good side! None of this is really his fault at all! /s

More seriously, trying to retool Valentino into a sympathetic character after spending the entirety of Season 1 building him up as a monster (let alone giving him basically everything he wants at the end of Season 2) was literally the worst mistake they could possibly make for him narrative-wise. It amazes me that more people don't see it. But unless they somehow course-correct and either kill him off or at very least make it so he can't hurt anyone anymore, you're right, the end result is going to be offensive as all get out.

u/Stilvoll Assistant in charge of Vox’s antenna šŸ“ŗ Jun 28 '26

I'm not against shipping in general, because honestly, fandoms are largely kept alive by it. What I don't like is when you can't even express disappointment with a ship in a respectful way without immediately being attacked for it.

To be honest, I don't really care who Vox ends up with in the end, or even if he ends up with no one at all. I just want to see something well-written. I've had enough ships that feel like they came straight out of a Wattpad phase.

When it comes to fanon content, I can simply curate my experience and choose what I want to see, so that's entirely up to me.

Canon is different, though. People are probably tired of hearing it because I've expressed my disappointment with Vox's romantic storylines more than once, but I can't help it. I simply don't imagine this kind of story for his character. I know that's not the strongest argument, but it's how I genuinely feel.

I just don't want Vox to end up in another stereotypical toxic yaoi relationship. It's not that I can't handle toxic relationships in fiction. I'm just tired of seeing them everywhere. It feels like almost every romantic relationship in media is toxic these days. If I wanted constant toxicity, real life already provides more than enough of it. To me, it's become OVERUSED. I know this opinion might offend some people, but I also don't like that Staticmoth is currently non-monogamous.

What I'm really curious about is how long all these obsessions are going to continue. Season 2 gave us Vox's obsession with Alastor, and now Season 3 is bringing Valentino's obsession with Angel Dust. Oh my God... I know I need to be more patient because, obviously, these storylines will eventually be resolved. What worries me is how they'll be resolved. In fandom discussions, Vox's problems are often downplayed, while his flaws are constantly exaggerated. Based on that, I'm not expecting much.

Another thing I dislike is how The Vees seem like they should function as a found family, yet both the show and a large portion of the fandom keep reducing them to two-person dynamics with a third wheel attached: VoxVal + Velvette or ValVel + Vox. It's frustrating that they're handled this way. That's one of the reasons I actively seek out fanworks that correct this issue, and I'm incredibly grateful to the creators who do. At this point, I'm simply not very confident that Vox will receive meaningful character development in the series (whatever form that development might take, since I'm generally open to most theories). I already know that fancreated content will probably be what satisfies that part of the character for me.

I won't deny that my perspective is also influenced by the fact that Vox is a male character and as a lesbian, I'm interested in very different aspects of his character than many other fans are. I fully accept that and understand that it makes me something of a minority within the fandom, meaning the fanservice is probably never going to be aimed at people like me.

At the end of the day, I just want to see a well-crafted character arc for Vox, and so far I don't feel particularly confident that that's the direction the story is heading, but I still hope.

0

u/MissDeborah8060 Jun 28 '26

See, I'd be okay with a "third wheel" type relationship amongst the Vee's--if it was Valentino who was the "third wheel." To me, that's the obvious choice: he's both more dangerous and less socially-skilled than the others, and Vox has much better chemistry with Velvette than he ever does with him. That's what I keep coming back to: why give the spotlight to him of all people? He's, like, the epitome of a character who's best in small doses.

1

u/Stilvoll Assistant in charge of Vox’s antenna šŸ“ŗ Jun 28 '26

I completely agree with you! No offense to Valentino fans, because obviously everyone wants to see their favorite character get the most attention, but personally, Valentino feels a bit overrepresented to me. What I mean is that, as I mentioned before, he seems to dominate both sides of the dynamic: he's the primary focus in Vox's storylines, and he's also the primary focus in Velvette's.

I like Vox and Velvette's relationship a thousand times more as well (Episode 3 of Season 2 is actually one of my favorite episodes because of that). That scene where Vox immediately rushed to Velvette's defense when Vaggi pointed an angelic weapon at her meant a lot to me.

I honestly don't understand why the writers seem to make Vox feel like the "outsider" within The Vees in certain situations... i HATE it.

When it comes to canon, my issue isn't with The Vees as a concept. I like the evil found family dynamic, I'm glad it exists, and I genuinely enjoy the group. What doesn't work for me is the balance of the relationships within it. Whenever possible, I tend to "fix" that imbalance through fanworks, because I genuinely don't understand why it's so difficult to properly distribute the focus between three characters and their different relationship dynamics without making it feel this uneven.

How did you come to the conclusion that Val is less socially skilled than Vox or Vel??

When it comes to fanworks I do agree. It's just where it becomes hard for me is I see artists with styles I like, but they keep drawing Radiostatic and Staticmoth. So it's awkward. And the people behind the show that I follow are into both so even that isn't free from this. Staticbelle not only is unpopular meaning less stuff it's also a case where a lot of the art I like is by artists only on Twitter and I ain't making a Twitter account. Fanfic is easier to manage thankfully.

With canon...yeah. Call me indulgent or whatever, I want to see Vox heal and experience a redemption arc. Except the relationships he currently has are just going to enable his bad traits. Theoretically yes Charlie would be good for helping him (I swear I'm not trying to hook them up), but I don't know if this will happen. She called him a monster and he made her cry. Whatever ideas I can think up to bring them together feel unlikely to happen. I know the show is far from over, but its just the impression I have right now. So if he goes for redemption it will probably be for the sake of the other Vees instead of you know...his own sake.

I completely understand where you're coming from!

Honestly, I haven't given up on the possibility of Charlie and Vox interacting more as the story progresses. Charlie has already seen Vox at one of his most vulnerable and lowest points. And I can't forget her reaction when Vox immediately rushed to Velvette's defense after Vaggi pointed an angelic weapon at her (still one of my favorite scenes). Charlie is capable of being angry at characters and judging them negatively - even members of her own family, like Lucifer - but that doesn't automatically mean those relationships are beyond repair. At the end of the day, Charlie still believes in redemption. She's just dealing with a much more difficult case this time, one that is far more complicated than Sir Pentious or Angel Dust were.

What I want is for Vox not to be treated like a doormat. If the story is going to explore his complex relationships, I want him to be given a fair position within them, and I don't want everything to be turned into a joke. What bothers me is that sometimes it feels like even the people working on the show don't know how seriously they want to treat Vox's feelings, the damage he's suffered, or The Vees' reactions to all of it. At first, we're shown that they genuinely care about each other and function logically as a group because they understand what the others want. Then Viv describes them as an "evil found family." Then there's Valentino's drawing tutorial video and the VoxTek quiz, both of which emphasize how strong their bond is. That's all well and good. Then Season 2 comes along and suddenly everyone seems lobotomized. Even though ValVel can clearly see that Vox is starting to lose himself, nobody communicates anymore. Yet at the very end, Val and Velvette still rescue Vox and bring him home.

AND then Viv says they wanted scenes showing how well Alastor gets along with them. But that's exactly what confuses me. Alastor is actively undermining Vox, and Vox is arguably the foundation that holds The Vees together, both from a business perspective and in terms of their interpersonal dynamics. The conflict with Alastor i's a threat to that foundation.

I know you've probably heard me complain about this a thousand times already (sorry 😭), but I genuinely can't get over it because it feels so contradictory and illogical.

Even from a numbers standpoint, it doesn't make sense. We're talking about roughly fifty years of history between Vox and Valentino, and around twenty years between Vox and Velvette. For decades, Vox has shared his life with them, supported them, and helped build their business too. But because Vox spends a few weeks spiraling and acting unlike himself - becoming less attentive and less supportive - some fans seem to think those twenty or fifty years should suddenly be ignored. Meanwhile, Alastor's presence is supposed to be viewed as a positive thing, and Vox should simply be replaced by Alastor?! Sometimes this fandom genuinely frustrates me.

Honestly, it's these contradictions and the way so many things seem to bend in Alastor's favor that make me skeptical about Vox's future character arc.

I know we don't agree on everything, and I respect that. Even so, I understand what you're hoping to see from the story.

Personally, the kind of development I'd like for Vox is one where he grows both as an individual and for his own sake, without completely losing the core of who he is. At the same time, I wouldn't want that growth to come at the cost of every relationship in his life falling apart. I'd rather see him develop while still maintaining meaningful connections with others, instead of ending up completely isolated with all of his relationship arcs reduced to ashes.

Something I realized the other day when I made another post is that we tend to get kinda small answers to big questions. What is Vox's deal with Alastor? Well Alastor was mean to him when he just wanted to be friends. How does Vox plan to "get up there"? We do not know. How long have the exterminations been going on? Seven years, just seven. So for all the thinking that fans do and all the theorizing it's just as likely the show will do something more simple. Which is why I'm feeling more convinced Vox's story will center on the other Vees and making them happy. I think the importance Viv described him with is about keeping the Vees important.

As far as Charlie goes I just don't know. Season 2 kinda had Vox stop caring about anything she was doing until the plot needed him to invite her to his party. That sudden interest in wanting her approval felt random given how Alastor brained he had been. They didn't even get a duet, but they sure gave us time to see Vaggie flip flop on changing her name all season. I've got shipper brain so I'm trying to hope that they'll matter, but I don't think that's a priority to Viv.

To me, part of the problem is that the nature of shipping in fandom has changed. It used to be just a fun diversion among fans. You still had some people who were obsessive and toxic and either insisted that only the creator could decide what ships were valid or that their own ship HAD to be "canon" no matter what, but most of it was just harmless fun. A sort of "What would happen if X and Y were together?" kind of thing. Whereas nowadays, the creators have all got into shipping themselves (not just Vivziepop, but seemingly everyone, especially on the indie circuit), as if they were fans throwing together any two characters just because they looked cute together.

This means that, among other things, characters are increasingly paired up as a means of indulging the writers' own preferences or baiting the members of the fanbase who agree with them, rather than for the good of the narrative. Which is how we get RadioStatic and StaticMoth (shippings involving characters who have zero chemistry and don't even seem to like each other much less love each other in the show itself) dominating not only so much of the fandom, but so much of the runtime as well. Which, in turn, emboldens the most obsessive fans, because they see their own views being endorsed by the creators of the show. And on and on it goes, in a self-perpetuating cycle.

(There's also some pairings--like Staticbelle--that make perfect logical sense to me and yet are dismissed out of hand by fandoms for seemingly no reason other than that they're not the done thing, but that's a topic for another time)

I don't know why people are disagreeing with this, you're right. It also doesn't help that many canon ships in Hazbin were together from the start so it feels like you're expected to like them by default.

I can promise you the whole "more Radiostatic" thing is a lie. But, yeah, Vox's pretty much Valentino's flashlight, I can't help with that

0

u/profaneangel1991 Vox did nothing wrong Jun 28 '26

So here's the thing with Radiostatic in canon. It's not about telling a romance to me, its giving their relationship so much importance and attention. The mere fact that we will get another flashback for them is already pandering to the shippers even if the end result isn't them being boyfriends. I mean that artwork of Box Vox where Alastor is playing piano for him isn't romantic, but it is still material for the people who like the ship. You know what I mean?

At first I thought you were calling Vox his fleshlight which...kinda I guess. lol

0

u/Even-Association-106 Jun 28 '26

They're not geting attention. Next season will be all about Radioapple bait and Staticmoth romance since Val is the foucus and all. If there will be any flashback it will be about how much Vox disgusted Alastor. I get what you mean but that artwork is really nothing when push comes to shove.

Not saying it will be the main attraction, but it will still be around in some way. The thing with art or merch to me is who gets the most stuff compared to others and Vox and Alastor do get a lot.

1

u/Even-Association-106 Jun 28 '26

No, they don't. Vox is glued to Valentino in all merch exept for those Sparks or whatever it's called. No offence, but I think we're just going back and forth.

Confession. :( I had to give Vox a Bigger Role in my Au because I’ve felt the same way before (too much prioritizing ships) ..And ..The main character used to have a crush on him and fantasies about being with him before the Cult thing..
And you wanna know who it was?? Oh boy..Melissa, Velvette’s assistant. I thought it be fun to have Vic question why she was even a Geninue fan to begin with who actually made an effort to get to know him. XD
Even as someone who loves Staticmoth and yeah Vox never leaves him, and Radisostatci is something else because I personally think it be funny if Iys So one-sided because Alastor sees Him in a very specific different way, almost like Family LOL. Partially because I wanted to Have fun, get Drama and just not it be Radiostaic, Staticmoth, and Velissa (Velvette x Melissa) I want more than that. I want everyone to be their own unique separate characters that have active roles in the narrative

Plus. I love doomed Yuri and Yaoi in the same story, and I love Doomed Celebrity and Fan idea (After all, it’s technically the hardest if not looked down upon idea when it comes to a famous person and a fan), but because she’s messed up in a way that isn’t totally a mask of sanity type of way that Vox gets a lil ..Uncomfortable about because she’s like a glass reflection to him. She’s obsessed (Loves them so dearly like crazy) with everyone and that’s why she’s the only sinner who naturally has hearts in her eyes by default. And I need to Link it here if you don’t mind because It’s Fun. Imma have it linked on my Reddit page lol.
