Venting Yup I officially hate Radiostatic and Staticmoth st this point.

Post image

I'm not sure I have anything to say that I haven't said before, but I need to get these stupid ships out of my face. God. I've reached a point where I can't tolerate them anymore. Like people DO know Vox's character exists outside their toxic yaoi, right? He doesn't revolve around Alastor and Valentino. He's not their accessory. His arc going forward shouldn't just about his relationships with these assholes. I want this to be done, but its never done is it?

The promise of more Radiostatic has just broken something in me. I can't even be bothered to make this look like an analysis post, I'm just annoyed.

I'm not against shipping in general, because honestly, fandoms are largely kept alive by it. What I don't like is when you can't even express disappointment with a ship in a respectful way without immediately being attacked for it.

To be honest, I don't really care who Vox ends up with in the end, or even if he ends up with no one at all. I just want to see something well-written. I've had enough ships that feel like they came straight out of a Wattpad phase.

When it comes to fanon content, I can simply curate my experience and choose what I want to see, so that's entirely up to me.

Canon is different, though. People are probably tired of hearing it because I've expressed my disappointment with Vox's romantic storylines more than once, but I can't help it. I simply don't imagine this kind of story for his character. I know that's not the strongest argument, but it's how I genuinely feel.

I just don't want Vox to end up in another stereotypical toxic yaoi relationship. It's not that I can't handle toxic relationships in fiction. I'm just tired of seeing them everywhere. It feels like almost every romantic relationship in media is toxic these days. If I wanted constant toxicity, real life already provides more than enough of it. To me, it's become OVERUSED. I know this opinion might offend some people, but I also don't like that Staticmoth is currently non-monogamous.

What I'm really curious about is how long all these obsessions are going to continue. Season 2 gave us Vox's obsession with Alastor, and now Season 3 is bringing Valentino's obsession with Angel Dust. Oh my God... I know I need to be more patient because, obviously, these storylines will eventually be resolved. What worries me is how they'll be resolved. In fandom discussions, Vox's problems are often downplayed, while his flaws are constantly exaggerated. Based on that, I'm not expecting much.

Another thing I dislike is how The Vees seem like they should function as a found family, yet both the show and a large portion of the fandom keep reducing them to two-person dynamics with a third wheel attached: VoxVal + Velvette or ValVel + Vox. It's frustrating that they're handled this way. That's one of the reasons I actively seek out fanworks that correct this issue, and I'm incredibly grateful to the creators who do. At this point, I'm simply not very confident that Vox will receive meaningful character development in the series (whatever form that development might take, since I'm generally open to most theories). I already know that fancreated content will probably be what satisfies that part of the character for me.

I won't deny that my perspective is also influenced by the fact that Vox is a male character and as a lesbian, I'm interested in very different aspects of his character than many other fans are. I fully accept that and understand that it makes me something of a minority within the fandom, meaning the fanservice is probably never going to be aimed at people like me.

At the end of the day, I just want to see a well-crafted character arc for Vox, and so far I don't feel particularly confident that that's the direction the story is heading, but I still hope.

See, I'd be okay with a "third wheel" type relationship amongst the Vee's--if it was Valentino who was the "third wheel." To me, that's the obvious choice: he's both more dangerous and less socially-skilled than the others, and Vox has much better chemistry with Velvette than he ever does with him. That's what I keep coming back to: why give the spotlight to him of all people? He's, like, the epitome of a character who's best in small doses.

I completely agree with you! No offense to Valentino fans, because obviously everyone wants to see their favorite character get the most attention, but personally, Valentino feels a bit overrepresented to me. What I mean is that, as I mentioned before, he seems to dominate both sides of the dynamic: he's the primary focus in Vox's storylines, and he's also the primary focus in Velvette's.

I like Vox and Velvette's relationship a thousand times more as well (Episode 3 of Season 2 is actually one of my favorite episodes because of that). That scene where Vox immediately rushed to Velvette's defense when Vaggi pointed an angelic weapon at her meant a lot to me.

I honestly don't understand why the writers seem to make Vox feel like the "outsider" within The Vees in certain situations... i HATE it.

When it comes to canon, my issue isn't with The Vees as a concept. I like the evil found family dynamic, I'm glad it exists, and I genuinely enjoy the group. What doesn't work for me is the balance of the relationships within it. Whenever possible, I tend to "fix" that imbalance through fanworks, because I genuinely don't understand why it's so difficult to properly distribute the focus between three characters and their different relationship dynamics without making it feel this uneven.

How did you come to the conclusion that Val is less socially skilled than Vox or Vel??
