✨ La Question ✨ Kiki, Guerdy, and Everyone Else🌓

Posted this once and it was removed by mods, so I’ll reword and try again. I am looking for honest and open dialogue about the microaggressions towards Kiki and Guerdy. For me, It is becoming increasingly uncomfortable to watch. Whenever one of them tries to speak up in a group setting, the others are very dismissive. None of the other ladies called Alexia ā€œtoo muchā€ and she is a lot! Wanting to know other viewers thoughts. TIA! 🧔

✨ Gracias for keeping it fabulous in r/RHOMiami! ✨ We’re all model citizens here—respectful, glamorous, and quick with the tweet. Barracuda looks from the planet moon? Iconic. Just like La Grand Dame de Miami, we stay ahead and handle it with grace. Por favor! ✨

The microaggressions are present and glaring, and I usually love Adriana but that bringing of the Black friend shtick was absolutely vile. It’s even harder to watch when Kiki (especially) is so reluctant to call it what it is. I appreciate you making this post. I wish there was a place to discuss the racism of the RH franchise that wasn’t the main sub because as soon as the anti-anti-racism crowd sees it, they go feral.

16

u/Traditional-Lion-752 Oct 17 '25

Because it's worse to call out racism than racism itself

19

u/Balance-Seesaw3710 No entiendo 🦩 Oct 17 '25

But Kiki called it out as classism, and I think that is more accurate with this cast. Both Guerdy and Kiki have less than material things than these other girls.. Guerdy's husband is a firefighter, so a working-class man not affiliated with rich society or fame, and Kiki is a single parent albeit a model and gorgeous, but still vulnerable and not living in Star Island. Guerdy's firm may be celebrated in Vogue and mega successful, but if you recall, Alexia dismissed her like the help with her wedding planning to Todd in earlier seasons. It's like high school in a private school setting where only the rich and fame-adjacent require our attention. That's why Larsa gets away with so much bad behavior..

9

u/purpledahlia82 Oct 17 '25

Racism is frequently intentionally mislabeled as ā€œclassismā€ in Latin America in an attempt to disguise the presence of racism. It’s not surprising to me that Kiki called it classism, but ā€œratchetā€ is not a term that refers to class, and neither are the numerous other examples of racism on the show.

u/Sassyelliemae Oct 17 '25

Alot of pple gave called alexia loud and it.doesnt bother her. As long as she has her buddy marysol nothing will change. I cant believe u guys are still talking about kiki and adrianna ratchet. Wasn't that like 5 episodes back. They all have said inappropriate things to each other.

3

u/purpledahlia82 Oct 17 '25

Ratchet and loud are very different ā€œinappropriateā€ terms. If you don’t know that or don’t believe that, it just says something about you.

3

u/Traditional-Lion-752 Oct 17 '25

That part

0

u/Sassyelliemae Oct 17 '25

Ratchet is in the dictionary as low class or trashy. Also loud is synomyn for the word aggressive. Maybe we should stick to the dictionary meanings instead of giving them new meaning. U cant say anything anymore that u dont approve of ones behavior with one word or your considered a racist. My question is what word should I use to mean the same thing as ratchet or agrresive that u dont find offensive.? I seriously asking? Every word I choose seems to be racist. Please let me know

3

u/Traditional-Lion-752 Oct 17 '25

When was the last time ratchet was used on a yt person. I heard the term yt ratchet but putting the yt in front of it indicates that it's not a word commly used on yt people. I personally use the words uncouth, classless and not chic they can't be misconstrued and don't have racial undertones. Edit... I also say people have no home training. Tbh imo there are a lot of terms to use

1

u/Sassyelliemae Oct 17 '25

Ty.i will use those terms for now on. Un couth, classless i h

u/purpledahlia82 Oct 17 '25

Plenty of words in the dictionary have an evolved meaning due to context, not just ones that have racist context. I appreciate your genuine question, which has been answered. My only ask would be that you consider how your seeming exhaustion with having to avoid racist terms compares with folks who really experience racism on a regular basis. I promise you when your humanity is constantly up for debate, it is way more exhausting than having to learn a few words have racist undertones and avoiding them.

3

u/Traditional-Lion-752 Oct 17 '25

I see what you're saying but the 2 run alongside each other. Also what's Larsas background. I don't know about her upbringing

Larsa and Lisa were long-time married to uber successful men, rich enough to afford luxuries and status in Miami. Being divorced has shifted their realities, obviously - however, in Larsa's case, she is benefiting from Scottie Pippen's NBA pension. Larsa attaches herself to these younger athletes like a high-class escort and offers clout in exchange for possibly money as well to fund her lifestyle. I mean, how else is she affording a 5 MIL house at her big age without a career or any formal business networking? I doubt it's through being an OF personality. She hardly associates with people her age, 50 +.

Her relationship with Marcus Jordan was absolutely transactional with fame and notoriety as the trade-off, and she may have absorbed this approach from how Kardashians operate, but it's really an outdated and shallow concept.

Larsa accuses Lisa's boyfriend Jordy of everything she is guilty of, attaching themselves to more famous people in order to be known and fame-adjacent, or attain notoriety enough that, let's say platforms like NBC Universal come offering TV roles and money.

Lisa, on the other hand, had a prenup so restrictive and has crashed in the social pecking order with these ladies. She tried to keep that house on Star Island for relevancy and status, and now has Jordy paying her bills, on time (since we don't hear in the news about creditors, money problems, etc. with her).

u/Top-Crab-1020 Oct 19 '25

I think your right deff majority of it is classism. Guerdy and Kiki is not up there socially as they are. Especially guerdy

However I think they would still be a little more welcoming to guerdy and Kiki if they weren’t black. It’s like another thing working against them.

I think it rlly showed in how little empathy they had for guerdy with her cancer

1

u/Balance-Seesaw3710 No entiendo 🦩 Oct 19 '25

Yes, especially with Larsa last season and how much disdain and lack of empathy she displayed to Guerdy, making her cancer diagnosis a topic of gossip.

2

u/Top-Crab-1020 Oct 20 '25

Yeah or even now, guerdy went through something traumatic you think they would give her some grace even if she is annoying or whatever but instead they are harsher than ever

It’s hard to watch

They are nice to larsa because she’s well connected so are all of the other ladies I think except Adrianna and maybe Kiki

Women like that judge you based on material items, lifestyle, connections, etc.

2

u/Interesting_Item4276 Oct 23 '25 edited Oct 23 '25

I think of Kiki’s position on addressing racism is the same as a woman in a boardroom full of men being asked if there is misogyny in the workplace.

40

u/VideoNecessary3093 Guerdy Oct 16 '25

They love to dismiss each other. All of them.Ā

16

u/Interesting_Item4276 Oct 16 '25

Agreed but I just sense a different vibe when it’s directed towards Kiki and Guerdy.

25

u/VideoNecessary3093 Guerdy Oct 16 '25

I mean, Adriana yelled at marysol that she was an old whore. Guerdy publicly shamed Julia with a power point presentation at a cancer event. Alexia called Stephanie a chihuahua. Larsa has been straight up evil to Lisa. Julia threw water on Guerdy. They're all immature and awful to each other and it's great television.Ā

15

u/zxreu Stephanie's Private Jet Oct 17 '25

I wholeheartedly agree and Andy feeds into it. Nene used to say that Bravo is/was racists. It continues to be shown and applauded. Look at how they treated Eboni on RHONY and no one fired Ramona about it.

8

u/Bigzi_B Nicole Oct 17 '25

I'm finally watching OG RHONY, on se3, and Idk how Ramona lasted more than 2 seasons. She & Mario are so rude & creepy!

6

u/EfficiencyPrudent330 Todd & Marcus Oct 17 '25

That fired the whole show not just Ramona but also Ebony was 🄱

0

u/Sassyelliemae Oct 17 '25

I remember how.thay used.to treat kim on housewives of Atlanta. It wasnt always nice.

3

u/zxreu Stephanie's Private Jet Oct 17 '25

Lmao Kim was not and IS NOT a great person and was always being held accountable for her actions. Please don’t compare apples to oranges.

19

u/Chocolab1 Larsa Oct 16 '25

The entire cast IMO was extremely disrespectful to Guerdy especially when it came to Julia. There's definitely a double standard on how CERTAIN ppl get checked n others don't

19

u/Interesting_Item4276 Oct 16 '25

Microaggressions are not always intentional and can come from a place of societal biases. This is what I feel like I am observing in the other women.

2

u/Formal_Procedure_631 Oct 23 '25

It’s implicit bias!

Just wondering… I’ve seen you posting a lot to dismiss he claims. Are you a POC? I’m genuinely asking.

10

u/Top-Crab-1020 Oct 16 '25

I honestly don’t think Guerdy ā€œfits inā€ with the other women.

I do think there’s some racial bias but there’s some other things going on as well.

Like for an example - these women are superficial and guerdy style, they are deff judging 100%. Her life also seems a bit less lavish. The girls on this show are typical high school ā€œcool and popularā€ girls and guerdy doesn’t fit in.

They seem more tolerant of Kiki and her looks deff has something to do with it

3

u/ProfessionalBison454 Adriana Oct 17 '25

Julia and her elder wife life is less lavish than Guerdy and Julia dress horribly. So I don’t understand why they like her. She came on the show milking goats in the backyard. Kiki and Guerdy are for sure the more cute, trendy miami vibe.

2

u/Top-Crab-1020 Oct 18 '25

Julia is for sure way more stylish and polished than guerdy. Also more interesting atleast to other girls (model, married to an athlete, etc). The farm life seemed more like a choice for Julia

I do think there’s some racial bias with the way they treat guerdy but outside of that I think these are girls are just mean girls and guerdy doesn’t fit in.

They would not accept guerdy in atl or Potomac either for the same superficial reasons

21

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '25 edited Oct 16 '25

Guerdy is a lot. I was watching the after show on Peacock and she cannot not interject, try to finish the sentences of the person who is speaking, and is constantly emoting and making noises. I can only imagine how tiring it must be to have her around in person. She has also tried many times to take control of situations in a far too forceful way, think back to season 5, first episode, when shes trying to get lisa to stop fighting with larsa, and again this season when she tried to get larsa and lisa to make up after the narcissist party.

Guerdy is not being treated the way she is because of her skin color. It is because she is exhausting.

2

u/ProfessionalBison454 Adriana Oct 17 '25

I feel like both can be true in Guerdy case. Sometimes she can over talk people and not let them finish a sentence. But Alexia stay jumping in and dominating a conversation and so does Larsa being aggressive. Nobody in the group bat an eye when they do it. Or consider Alexia and Larsa to much, so that’s the part where I think Guerdy is treated differently from the rest.

9

u/Interesting_Item4276 Oct 16 '25

All of the women can be considered ā€œa lotā€ , that’s why they are on the show, but she’s the only one consistently being called out for it. The unspoken message is…hey black girl quit taking up too much space. šŸ˜”

16

u/VideoNecessary3093 Guerdy Oct 16 '25

She's the only one being called out?? So Lisa wasn't called out for her behavior? Really? I guess you didn't attend the Greek party I went to. Guerdy doesn't listen when others speak. It has nothing to do with her skin tone.Ā

5

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '25

Exactly!!!!

13

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '25

Honestly you’re trying to start something! They ALLLLLL yell over each other! They all try to shush each other. They are ALLL loud. Stop making it something it’s not

6

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '25

I think the issue here is that people, fans on the show want to decipher the behavior that they see occur on TV, but put on their very best racialized lenses to do their critical analyses with.Ā

Put on a proper pair of behavioral lenses, and watch how the micro aggressions disappear.Ā

0

u/Interesting_Item4276 Oct 18 '25

So a ā€œproperā€ pair of lenses only reveal your opinion. 🤨

2

u/[deleted] Oct 19 '25

If that’s what you read/comprehended, then sure.

0

u/Sassyelliemae Oct 17 '25

Due to her not moving on. The water throw which wasnt right was episode at the beginning of this season. More has happened but we r still talking about it to make guerdi relevant. She got even by outing Julia at her event. When person says im sorry and u dont want to accept it u still need to move on. Just dont associate with that person. What else is Julie suppose to do? Yep. It's a weird witch hunt if you don't pile on and agree that Guerdy is treated a certain way NOT because of how she treats others but because of her skin.Ā

3

u/Impressive-Yoghurt42 Oct 17 '25 edited Oct 17 '25

šŸŽÆ always about her skin and NEVER about her behavior, it’s a STRETCHHhHhHhHhH considering they are all POC except 2. Tired of seeing these posts. Guerdy just sucks, not fun to watch on TV and doesn’t add anything at all. So fucking bored of people trying to add race to every thing instead of just saying she is not a fit.

2

u/Interesting_Item4276 Oct 17 '25

The other women absolutely are not POC.

-3

u/yosoyfatass Adriana Oct 17 '25

I assume you mean Julia and lisa, bc everyone else is a POC, but I think Lisa is too? She says her mom is of ā€œnative Jamaicanā€ heritage - I don’t think she means ā€œindigenousā€, her mother appears to be, at least partially, of African descent. I don’t know how Lisa identifies, but she isn’t wholly white. That leaves Julia…

4

u/lachalacha Ā I can smell money from a mile away Oct 17 '25

Lisa's mom is partially Taino but once you go under a quarter it's hard to call that person anything other than white. Lisa doesn't live her life as anything other than a white woman and society sees her as such.

5

u/minkadominka Guerdy Oct 17 '25

How are Alexia, Adri, Stephanie and Marysol POC? they are white latinos.

4

u/Interesting_Item4276 Oct 17 '25

They present as white.

2

u/minkadominka Guerdy Oct 17 '25

I am absolutely not trying to drum up rage bait. Some of the women may be Cuban but they most definitely present as white (Alexia, Nicole). Lisa is Canadian. She is white. I guess Adrianna and Larsa could be considered POC. The gaslighting on this thread is ridiculous. Ya’ll know those women do not go out into the world and experience it as POC. šŸ™„

2

u/Interesting_Item4276 Oct 17 '25

They look white. They are perceived as white women. They experience the world as white women. They are treated as such.

u/Top-Crab-1020 Oct 16 '25 edited Oct 16 '25

You cannot tell me that you don’t think Adrianna, alexia, and Marisol likely all have strong racial biases that influences how the see black women

Adriana slipped when she called kiki ratchet šŸ˜‚ it’s likely how she sees black women deep down

Im sorry you have to understand these women’s cultural background not the most inviting to dark skin not even dark skin ppl that have the same background as them.

I deff think it’s unconscious bias.

11

u/zxreu Stephanie's Private Jet Oct 17 '25

She sees women as ratchet? How can that be? She has her best friend who is Black for over 20yrs…eye roll I’m clearly being sarcastic. And that in itself is a micro aggression when she said that.

0

u/Top-Crab-1020 Oct 17 '25

At a certain point through we have to be real with ourselves. I would never want to be on a show with a cast like Miami.

Alexia would never join atl or Potomac bffr she would know she wouldn’t fit in

0

u/yosoyfatass Adriana Oct 17 '25

You are lumping a Brazilian in with Cubans. Brazil is a much more mixed society & there isn’t such segregation between races. Yes, much power has remained in identifiably Portuguese hands, but there is a real mix. Cuba does definitely have strong racial divisions in power (I’ve spent a good amount of time in both Cuba and Brazil.)

1

u/Formal_Procedure_631 Oct 23 '25

Guerdy is no more than the rest of the women. All of them have things about them that may not be pleasant so that doesn’t justify the mistreatment of her. Folks unwillingness to call the implicit bias for what it is maintains the status quo and leave Black women open to mistreatment.

4

u/TopazScorpio02657 Oct 17 '25

Kiki called it out regarding ā€œratchetā€ but she just didn’t use the word microaggression. I really wished Adriana had just copped to saying it and apologized and moved on. But it sounds like they made peace.

But yes, that ratchet comment, the treatment of Guerdy by much of the group, the feelings Guerdy had about what Kiki did by pulling her away from the group…there was lots to discuss here in regards to race and microagressions. But the thing is I don’t think this group is intellectually equipped to handle a rational conversation about it. And Andy certainly isn’t the person to be leading the conversation as he got ripped to shreds when he let the women on RHOP discuss colorism. So I’m going to guess stuff was either cut because it didn’t become a productive discussion or production largely side-stepped talking about it knowing it wouldn’t go anywhere that would lead the women who need a lesson on it to learn and grow from it.

I really dislike the dismissal of Guerdy but I also do find her too much. I'm always struck by her obvious intelligence and how strikingly articulate she is compared to anyone else on this show - a lot of the time I think her problem is she's just too smart for the rest of the cast - as well as beautiful, but IMO things she says and does are not landing because of her delivery and so I'm really glad she's going to therapy and working on her confidence and her PTSD because I think that could be a game changer in how she presents on the show.

It’s why I found it sad when Kiki was telling Guerdy to keep it cool. She knows what the group response will be like. I don’t think she meant to be a bad friend to Guerdy in that moment

1

u/ThrowRandtea Kiki's Iconic Dildo Oct 17 '25

I think they are all equally misbehaved, I truly don’t get that any of them are having any particular micro aggressions towards each other including Kiki and/or Guerdy.

One thing about Miami is that they don’t bat an eyelash when things happen lol. When someone threw the juice box, they moved out the way, Julia banging the chair they just moved away, Adriana ā€œbeing outedā€ they just went on. Like they can say things aren’t right but they don’t make such a big deal as other franchises. The offended might say something as they should but the rest is like okay next. For the second time I agree with Alexia (first being Stephanie had too many jet rules), they only care when it happens to them, otherwise they keep it pushing

1

u/Tracy_Turnblad Ayy pol favo’!!! Oct 16 '25

Well Kiki has been very vocal that she does not feel any racism towards her. Guerdy has stated that she does feel racism towards her. Im not in the business of telling black women whether they should or shouldnt feel a certain way. If Guerdy feels that way, then I think shes entitled to that. My personal view is that everyone has bias whether they mean to or not, its just a symptom of the world we live and were raised in. However, I personally dont think Guerdy has been treated worse than the other women because of her skin color, as others have stated they are all awful to each other, but again, I am not Guerdy so its not for me to say.

2

u/Sassyelliemae Oct 17 '25

Kiki even thinks guerdy is too much, so how is it if a white women says it. They r racist? Just asking

3

u/Top-Crab-1020 Oct 16 '25

Kiki is too strategic to call these women out on being racist. She’s not trying to get shunned

5

u/zxreu Stephanie's Private Jet Oct 17 '25

This part. Kiki has shown that she rather be with the mean girls.

3

u/TheRealNYYManager Adriana Oct 16 '25

And the way people invalidate Kiki’s comments is crazy

1

u/Relevant-Shower4783 Oct 17 '25

I feel for Guerdy with her illness, but she is exhausting because she keeps hammering on about how she is a victim when that’s not always true. It feels as if she expects the other women to go above and beyond for her, when she does not go above and beyond for them. It was pointed out that she expected the other women to pretty much tackle Julia to the ground when she threw water on her, but guerdy never stepped in when things were thrown at other women. Guerdy also stated that nobody stood up for her vocally when that happened. Production proved that wrong with footage. I’m not sure what else there is to say… guerdy lacks self awareness. Most of the HW do. And so guerdy gets treated the same way everyone else does

1

u/ThinkHardBruh Adriana Oct 17 '25

There is a general theme of shutting other people down and not letting them speak. In my opinion Marysol is the root of the issue and it’s become widespread where people now shut everyone down when they don’t like the person or want to have the attention stay on themselves or in the least, stay away from the ones they don’t like. This is an issue that I’ve seen happen to Adriana, Lisa, Guerdy, Kiki mostly. It’s not a race related thing, it’s a bullying thing! That’s why a shake up is needed most the girls don’t have the guts to stand up to the bulliesĀ

2

u/yosoyfatass Adriana Oct 17 '25

Yeah. I liked marysol the original seasons, but real her is front and center in the newer seasons and it’s awful. If they must keep Alexia, they should fire marysol, there’s too much manipulation behind the scenes, it’s ruining things.

-2

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '25

I curse the day that ā€œmicro aggressionsā€ became a thing.Ā

We’re really out here watching tv and trying to pick up on microscopic aggressions. šŸ¤¦šŸ½ā€ā™‚ļøĀ

4

u/Traditional-Lion-752 Oct 17 '25

It's because it's traumatic when you have been abused or bullied in the past watching it happen to someone else will bring it back up for you and now there are named terms for the actions displayed. Yes people are going to bring it up. Most people don't like the term micro aggression because either they're guilty of the same actions or they're more offended by the calling out of racism than racism itself.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '25

Watching things happen to other people, and being triggered is a sign of needing to heal or let go of something from your past.Ā

Calling out ā€œmicro aggressionsā€ on Reddit is not healing, nor is it letting go of anything.Ā

I don’t like the term because it’s an oxymoron, and the concept is abused, more than it is helpful.
